Hi all, i would like to know how can i set the preferences of my phone, thru the firmware, for example, everytime i flash my phone with some rom thru recovery, there are always some options i have to change one is "send number on call" or whatever it is called, this means that after a flash, if i dont set the phone to send number, other ppl will see me as "private number", i would like to change these kind of options, right in the rom, i could successfully remove a lot of apk's that i don't need, and ringtones to save space, now im stuck at this situation.
Thanks

hi,i Just upgraded to latest version of Sense, as prompted. I now find that I can't send texts to certain people - either from compose or when replying... i get a quick 'please wait' message and what I've typed stays on screen. If I exit the screen, the msg is stored as draft. If I re-open, I still can't send it. If I compose a msg to one of the people I can't send messages to but also send it to myself, then it gets sent! this is frustrating and means i cant use the text facility easily. I have rebooted the phone, checked the numbers and APN settings, all are ok (all worked fine before the upgrade). please help.. .? thanks, mark
have you tried to wipe the dalvik, as i had a similar issue with mine after i wiped the dalvik everything seemed fine and smoother
CHEERS, but can't access recovery mode (although can get into scroll menu where I can see it to select it) - my phone's not rooted - maybe that's why. .. not keen on rooting it as it's a company phone . .. Any other ways of clearing it?
cheers, Mark
hi, exactly same problem. I contact htc suport. they told me
please try to put the phone on the safe mode by following the below steps:
1- Turn off the device (Remove the battery)
2- Turn on the device without pressing any thing
3- When you see HTC logo press and hold Vol. Down until the device Vibrates.
that resolve the problem
easy and quick, no need for rooting
then i restart again normally and everithing is perfect
Let me guess...
You've discovered some hidden menus recently by typing codes in the dialer and find out this one: *#*#4636#*#* that open a "Testing" screen showing options like this:
Phone Information
Battery Information
Usage Statistics
Wi-Fi Information
Then you went to Phone Information
Tried some options (maybe played with SMSC:_________Update / Refresh ) but that was not doing anything so you exited the menu.....
after a while you wanted to send a text or someone was asking you "Did you got my text?" and you didn't....
Here's what hapened: Accidentaly you erased from your phone the "Messaging Center Number" wich is responsible for giving your phone the access to the SMS/MMS central of your provider.....resulting in loosing the ability to send/receive messages.
Don't worry, after having navigated XDA Forums I finally found my way to make it work again (yes that's because I did it that I now now it).
By the way, even if you Factory reset, flash a new rom/radio/kernel that mistake is gonna stay. You need to enter the number again.
in the *#*#4636#*#* hidden menu,
scroll down to "SMSC:"
in the box type: 0791715097960300
press the "Update" / "Mettre à Jour" (first button)
Now exit and Reboot the phone.
To test it, don't try to resend an old test message as it contain old message center number. I even suggest to delete previous text messages from your inbox if possible.
If it worked, everything should be fine by now. (you can even kudo me for this loll)
NOTE:
The real Roger Center number is +17057969300
the thing is that it need to be Encrypted in Hexadecimal PDU format.
(user MarcusVanSciver on XDA shown that link in thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412261)
That was for Orange Network (european have 8 number to phone number instead of 7 so I had to add a 0 at the end to make it work for Rogers)
after Encryption the number was now: 0791715097960300
This worked for ROGERS, the trick could maybe work for other networks but I can not validate the info. (but for sure this will not be the same number)
This had been tested with stock rom and Custom Rom With Custom Radio and Custom Kernel.
If this helped you, please give credit to this post ;-)

Easier way to do it without mucking around looking for your SMSC. It's how I got mine up and going again!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA

Hey man, this might be a bit old for you but i just got a galaxy nexus. I am having the outgoing text issue. I've tried that number and everytime i hit update it just says update error. Think you mightbe able to help me?
Damn this doesn't work for me
To program the SMSC (Text Messaging) number on Android devices, please follow these steps:
Go to the phone application.
From the phone application, press *#*#4636#*#*. (You will have to press the Call or Send button after entering this code in for some Android devices).
Tap on Phone Information
Scroll to the bottom to where it says SMSC and enter this number exactly as you see on this page (including all symbols): +17057969300
Press Update.
Hi all.
When I was sending a message throught handcent with a new sim card an information popped up, sth like:
"additional costs apply when sending that message”
By pure accident I made two mistakes:
1. I check the box “remember setting”
2. Instead of hitting “always allow” I pressed “always deny”
and now Im unable to send messages :/ cant find the option to fix this.
Cleaned the cache - didn't help
I changed the option manually in app info in section Permissions - "this app may charge you money" to always allow
but its still the same problem :/
Tried to change it to "Ask", its not asking when sending.
EDIT:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3571988&stc=1&d=1449781654
So I changed this option in handcent but it didnt do anything :/
And on top of that the stock Messaging App doesnt have this drop down menu :/
Fix: Clean cache in recovery.
Sorry, I know this isn't specific to the 10, but I'm desperate. I just wiped my phone and now I can't sign in to Google without the Authenticator app (which I can't get because I can't sign in). I can't change my 2-step verification settings from my laptop because it requires a code as well. What the hell do I do?!
Edit: I don't have backup codes, but I did setup a backup phone. When I click "Try another way to sign in" it doesn't show any backup options, though.
I've always just had it text me during first time setup..
Yeah, normally texting is how I get past it if I don't have the app installed did you not configure it with your phone number? I even have my wife's number as a backup to my backup
I did have a backup number, but for some reason it's not showing up in the options.

On the phone click "problem with code" and then select text, it will automatically receive the text code and enter it automatically
or
On the website click "Try another way to sign in"
In either case the only options were to enter the code from the app or initiate an account reset.
I'm currently with an A52S 5G, coming from several Xiaomi phones (mix 2s, mix 3 and poco F3).
I use Hiby music player and when I try to delete song through the app, the app request permission to the storage/SDcard, but when i press the button, nothing happens. In the xiaomis it opened the file explorer and i could grant access.
I contacted Hiby and was told that was a samsung permission issue.
How can i fix this? Any ideas? Anyone has sucessfully done it? Are there any work arounds?
While this function is not crucial for me (i can still acess the storage with my files and with total commander) it was quite useful to physically delete the songs that i dont like, dont hear anymore or are just duplicated.

I can't guaranty this will work for sure but maybe you could try to go to your phone Settings - About of Phone - Software information - Version number. Type seven time on Version number and the Developer mode will be available. Get back and below the About your phone you should find a new option tab "Development options".
In this tab you should find "Force applications authorization on external storage".
Titles may not be exactly what I wrote as I translated them from my french phone...

Thanks, it did the work. Weird thing is that even disabling that option in developer mode, it still works . Keeping the "Give every app SD access" enabled, sounded a little risky.
Another thing, is that with the option disabled, i can't chose the SD root itself, but i have to chose a folder. While it's ok for my case, it could be an issue for someone else.
PS: Developer mode was on "kernel version" (if anyone else need it, i know you can google it up but i ended up with trial and error).
