AOKP for Sprint Gnex? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Will the sprint gnex ever get an official aokp rom? I have been itching to try it.

Is this seriously necessary? He didn't know the device codename. Big deal.

U should try this as well,

it is based from official AOKP, with a few extras added that you might like

No no I know of black ice and all the mods that have been used from aokp in other roms. Its just I'm looking for a solid base for a rom that I want to start and just wanted to see the official rom as I haven't used it since I got my gnex.

I actually liked TouchWiz on my Sprint GSII. It was very smooth because it had hardware acceleration and had some cool features with widgets, and the TouchWiz apps aren't all that bad.

@OP - please dont be like other people and never actually release it (or only release it when EVERYTHING is working)
I hate that...if something doesn't work...we can help...just publish it anyway
Wish I had a nexus....

It's nice to have choice and all... But seeing touch wiz on a Nexus makes me cry.

You really don't get charged for teethering on a rom?

I have the open kang from flashed on my nexus. If I enable the stock hotspots, I really don't have to pay any extra?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Not unless they find out and decide they want to.

I've been on AOKP for more than 3 months and have been tethering daily without any issues or paying :good:
Been doing it for 3 plus years and no issue yet..
Hehe.. Yes been doing it since my HTC hero days back in 2009, I think

Should I Trade

Please don't flame me. Honest opinions from people who has used the Droid RAZR xt910 (gsm). Should I trade my Nexus for one? It is a white version with box and 16gb SD card. I'm using straight talk at&t so hopefully it'll work flawlessly. Any advice? I loved my Atrix 2 when I had it and I love my gnex. :/ But the RAZR is like a thin Atrix 2. Help!!!! Lol

What's the negatives of the RAZR gsm? Aside from developmental purposes.

Um I had it before and it is pretty good phone, but it is really slow compared to Gnex... also you get pretty lame updates compared to Gnex. Gnex just brings more to the table if you ask me

I'm not too worried about updates. It'll at least see jellybean. But the speed worries me. I've seen Antutu bench scores in the mid 6000s. Thats on stock ICS. I know numbers don't matter but the gnex is around the same in numbers. Does the droid just have more menue lag or something?

I personally doubt that it's gonna get a jelly bean update... also razr is just had more "android lag" even with ics update... I just don't think you will get a lot from the trade, that is all. Of course, choice is yours

Its got the exact same internals as the nexus. Think the motoblur will be the factor in no jellybean?

Motoblur is definitely going to be the factor. It's going to take Motorola ages to push out Jelly Bean for it and that's if they even decide to at all.
Well it took Samsung and Motorola similar times to push ICS to the gs2 and the RAZR. But Motorola gets worse rep than Samsung. :/ why's that?

Anyone moved to S3? Why?

If yes, please state your reasons of moving to S3.
Let's share our knowledge.
lol biggest regret ever stick to google for android or gt iphone
most apps and game dnt makke full use of quadcore
samsung offer little support
tbh first android phone iv used that made me wanna gt an iphone and iv always used android

I think it's safe to assume most people that have moved from a Nexus to an S3 wouldn't continue to lurk in the Nexus forums. Probably best to ask in the S3 forums :good:
I love my Nexus and will always stay Nexus for the stock Android experience and abundance of ROMs. That said though I did try a S3 4g/LTE model today and was MIGHTY impressed with how snappy it was with Jellybean.
I've been tempted several times. Its the physical buttones that are holding me back.
I recently had the chance to get it myself. But I couldn't do it. I was looking at the aosp development, and from what I'm used to it was weak. I could live with touchwiz but I just don't like it. The physical keys where also a downer. Just something I wouldn't like to give up. And since i already have a quad core tablet there really was nothing besides a better camera and even then the gnex camera is pretty good I don't listen to what others say I know what I've seen it do.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I have both as well (SGS2 being my daily phone) and for me (my own personal preference) both the GNex and SGS3 has their own perks in their respective right. With that being said, if i had to choose, my GNex will come out on top each time. But my SGS3 is a damn good device.

Im talking about pure Android loke aosp or cm10
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
The latest Touchwiz is pretty bad. I had TW ICS on my tab2 and just recently we got TW JB on the tab2. I don't know if the SGS3 will get something similar but this latest version of TW JB on my Tab 2 is slow, the browser force closes and the interface has been changed for the worst. The ICS version of TW was better than this newest version they have released.

have you even tried a gs3? even though the gnex is really smooth, the s3 is pretty much on par with their touchwiz.

The bigger question is did you read what he said? Now re-read what you typed.
He was talking about AOSP. If there was still confusion, he posted specifically that he was talking about AOSP, over an hour before you posted.

For the last time im not on about ****wizzzz im on about pure Google Android like cm10
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I have both and most of the time use my s3 for the battery life. If I want to try something new or interesting I'll usually do it on the nexus. As far as bad aosp goes I'm not sure what you're smoking, we get nightly cm10 builds consistently. I'm currently running the m2 release and it's perfectly suitable for every day use. Prior to this I was running paranoid and it was great. M2 just has better battery life. Also while they do get worse battery life than touch wiz it's still better than my nexus.

lolno.
Well a lot of people I know have the s3. A lot.
Anyway...I've had a lot of opportunities to play with it. It is very very very fast first and foremost!
I've mostly played with the ICS versions. So smooth and a real joy to use. The nature UX is also very nice. Its one of the best android skin I've used from any OEM I think. They finally moved away from trying to mimic the IOS look and feel with the UI which is good.
I've tried the jellybean version of the s3 just once and to be honest I could not tell a big difference. That's because the s3 is awesome with speed and responsiveness even with ICS.
The screen is excellent also, and the feel and look of the handset in the hand is nice. It looks a lot like the galaxy nexus with buttons.
I would not move to the s3 as a full time replacement for the galaxy nexus however. Simple reason being that I had the galaxy note and waiting for ICS and Jellybean was not my thing.
I'm too comfortable with quick stock updates from my nexus s days. Plus the main reason also...the galaxy nexus is insanely fast and smooth already!

Android-Building google group.
hopefully it's rolling out to us all within a few weeks (2 or 3)
One advantage of having a big family is that someone needs a new phone you give them ur galaxy nexus and get urself a nexus 4 to replace it....
But 4.2 is gonna be so good on both phones!!! I just wonder obout battery life cause im rolling on the extended bat for the gnex... i hope battery life will be much improved with the nexus 4 with its updated hardware..
I was just thinking same thing. When is the 4.2 release for our nexus gonna come? Lol.
The new nexus 4 looks nice but I don't like the non removable battery idea. Oh well. I'm happy with my galaxy nexus anyway. Very happy.
Just got it about a month and a half ago.

Sometime after 13 November. Watch for Google to post the binary updates for 4.2 and the yakju/takju rollouts should follow shortly.

When they announced the Nexus 7 back in June....and Jelly bean...I think they released a couple of days later. In theory this should also apply. What do you guys think?

If I recall correctly that's been the norm for most of the android releases. But my memory isn't what it once was so I could be wrong.
