So I'll show you how the times can change or remove boot or sound.
Works for Gingerbread only
To do this you need:
- root
- root explorer or similar
How it works:
Remove boot sound:
you go to the root explorer
/ system / etc /
The first thing you find is the 1_Power_on.ogg
Deletes it easy
Then you scroll down further and you will find a PowerOn.wav
delete them as well now is your boot sound off
------------------------
------------------------
Change boot sound:
Do you want to change the boot sound, just your sound that you want to have
to convert. ogg and rename it to 1_Power_on.ogg
and do the same with the PowerOn.wav.
So your sound needs at once. Ogg and once in there. Wav
and then also be called as follows:
1_Power_on.ogg
PowerOn.wav
Placed or replaced both files in / system / etc
set permissions to rw-r-r
reboot
thats all
enjoy
There is one limitation, the sound should be no longer than 9 seconds, because there are only 9 seconds played.
Important:
Notice the uppercase and lowercase letters

First You Need
-Rooted Ace
-Root Explorer
Make sure your own sound is ogg file, otherwise you must convert it
then move your ogg file into sdcard
Open Root Explorer, go to /system/etc
if you found poweron.ogg, copy it into sdcard for backup
then go to your sdcard to move it /system/etc
just replace it
Reboot your phone and you can hear your new startup sound!
Enjoy
And for disable this poweron.ogg sound, just delete or move it for backup

You must mount the system in read/write mode. Press the r/w button at the top before pasting.
thanx!!
What if I'm using CM7? Why can't I change my boot animation sound?
how about file limitations?
How about SIZE limitations and duration? does it have any ?
*YOU guys can use your own MP3 file and convert using FormatFactory , it's the best tool !

Here's a fun Mod for those of us who've adopted the E.T. nickname for our Epic 4G Touch!
Must Have Root to Modify!
1. Download the Wav File, copy to Device (if you DL'd to PC)
2. Using Root Explorer, navigate to System Folder, select
3. Select ETC folder (Mount as R/W)
4. Find current PowerOn.wav file and rename (in case you want the original back)
5. Move (or copy to) the new PowerOn.wav file to this location
6. Change Permissions to match (rw-r--r--)
7. Reboot and Enjoy!
►► E.T. Theme Boot Sound ◄◄
As an alternate...you can make your own by simply using any .wav file and re-naming it to PowerOn.wav! You may want to edit your .wav file however, as only a small portion of it will play during boot.
Ha!
*tries to remember what the ET theme sounded like...*
Oh yeah! How could I forget?
i put this on my phone awesome
.wave or ogg?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Edit: Included info to make your own.

This is pretty...EPIC. Sick, get my ET4G tomorrow. First mod
Does anybody have the stock wave sound? I flashed a ROM & change the boot sound & I would like to change it back
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it...
Probably semi-obvious, but you can also rename (or just delete) the sound file to have your phone boot silently.
Nice for when you have to constantly restart to alleviate the LOS error and forget to mute it beforehand, or if you just happen to not like your stuff making noise.
Sound Very Low
I changed everything over and the sound comes on, but it is very quite and short. Is this normal?
How long can it be? Seeing as this phone boots in 5 seconds
DARK SIDE!!!!
here is my contribution to the thread, they are .wav files from star wars "You don't know the power of the darkside" and "what is thy bidding...my master" ----of course from Darthvader. perfect size and length, they sound great as boot up sounds!!
don't forget to press thanks..........i don't have any lol
does it have to be a .wav file or can you throw an MPEG 4 file on there too?
Never mind. figured it out... and yes you can put any song as long as you change the permissions too.
Not sure if anyone know's how but I figured out how to basically put any 8-9 second long recording or sound file to your boot animation. you can use ringdroid to edit any sound file to to 8-9 seconds and use the ringtone maker app to send it to your e mail. then put it to your desktop and so on... you get the point.
Is there a way to disable all boot sounds ? Putting my phone in silent mode doesn't help it still plays the transformers like sound which is way to loud when u have to do it in a public location imo.
Follow these steps:
1: Install root Explorer or ES file explorer etc.
2: Navigate to /system/media or /system/media/audio (cant remember which one)
3: Mount file system as R/W
4: Delete the bootsound.ogg or rename it to bootsound.ogg.old
5: Done !

yup, something like that. actually it was so easy as long we familiar with rootexplorer things. these for more accurately step:
> navigate to /system/media using rootexplorer (don't forget to mount system as R/W)
> delete "poweron.ogg" file or backup it (usually by renamed it to poweron.ogg.bak)
> done!
> or i'd like to suggest to customize it with your own sound file that already converted n renamed as poweron.ogg n replaced or backup the original sound file. recommended to set permission as same as the original (just copy by looking the original)
Hey, Thanks for this tip, Im going to do this after I flash Cyanogen 9
Or you just try the app called Silent Boot
verified working on p930 stock based ics (the rom in my sig) so it probly works on all roms with root access.
this is all you gotta do.
1. find or create a custom animation. (zip files which contain multiple image files in them, there is one on your phone which you can use as a guideline to make sure they are compatibile they should have similar structure.
On my Phone its bootanimation.zip and customanimation.zip inside the zip is a fodler called part0 or part0 and part1, part0 is run first then part1 if it exists. there is also a desc.txt file i understand some of the sytax but not all.
i understand the first number two numbers are resolution i think the 3rd number is refresh rate (if you make this number bigger it should speed up how fast images are scrolled and vise versa (this is not verified but im pretty sure) not sure what the 4th and 5th numbers are then i think after that you put the names of the folders (part0 part1 etc) 1 space between each argument. the file should look something like this:
720 1280 35p 0 0 part0 part1
if only the part0 folder is found no need for part1, i suspect the two 0's might be the file speed of the other 2 possible folders (allowing for you to change the speed of animation part way through)
2. backup your old animation
-navigate to /system/media
-go to settings of your explorer program (i use es file explorer) and go to root settings and mount system folder. or use console.
-change the filename of the animation you want to change to something like "oldfilename.old" in case there is an issue with your new animation you can restore it.
3. paste your new animation into the folder with the same name as the old animation example : bootanimation.zip
-set permissions to rwx r-x r-x
-unmount system
-reboot and enjoy your new animation.
post custom animations on the thread that are formatted for this phone.
note: if you download the app boot animations (star) root by jrummy apps inc from the play store, there is about 25+ animations labelled "tablet" most of these are 1280x720 and they work beautifully on this phone. i just download them with the app and install them manually.
edit * use this at your own risk
only the shutdown animation is working for me manually, for some reason the bootanimation, i have to use the app boot animatinos to install it, there must be a step im missing to make that one stick.
edit #2 ok so for manual bootanimation install you have to replace the same zip in /data/local and /system/media (i think this is why the 1st one didn't work for me)
This is a simple procedure to change default notification sounds like email pop up, touch interface sound, boot , shutdown, lock, camera shutter, keyboard sounds etc for GALAXY GRAND DUOS
Phone needs to be rooted...
Download root explorer or root browser. Go to system>>media>>audio>>ui
You will find all ogg audio files there..Each one for different task...
For example KeypressSpacebar.ogg is the sound file for pressing spacebar in keyboard. You can replace the default one to any sound file or music file of your choice in the folder but make sure to rename the replaced file to same KeypressSpacebar.ogg . Same method applies to boot sound, shutdown etc. The audio file should only be in ogg format. . There are lots of online ogg converters to do this. Before doing all this pls take a backup of the ui folder just incase u mess it up..
i know this is very simple but i guess it would be useful esp to change that annoying touch sound on jb..
Just incase if anybody wants default click ics sound for touch..Here it is ...
Rename the file as TW_Touch.ogg and replace the default TW_Touch.ogg in the ui folder.. Reboot the phone..
Press Thanks if it helped
