Does anyone know what the exact resolution size is for just ONE home screen?
I know the default is 1440x1280, but that is just for all of the home screens.
I have three home screens so I want to try something out, thanks!
EDIT: Already figured it out, took a screenshot, opened in Photoshop and got the sizes.
One home screen = W720 x H1280.

Hi there, can anyone help with putting wallpapers on the Desire please?
I've got a few 480x800 ones off the web and copied them over to the DCIM\100MEDIA folder. When i browse to them on the phone and select 'Set as' wallpaper it will only allow me to crop the image and not have the full image as a wallpaper.
Cheers!
Have you tried expanding the green box? You can make it larger by dragging.
Yes but it only enlarges to half the size of the screen, is 480x800 definitely the correct resolution?

I realised this the other day when trying out other wallpaper. The problem is this. Although the screen is 480 x 800, HTC sense (or Android) makes the wallpaper wider to compensate for the 6 other home screens. You will notice that as you move from one screen to another the wallpaper moves along with you. So in essence the wallpaper size we need to be working with is.more like 900 x 800 or something. This is why when you try and crop it won't let you crop to a 480 x 800 ratio.
Although the moving wallpaper is a cool effect, it would be nice to stop it so that the background screen was always 480 x 800.
Ah i see, it's been bugging me for the last day or so!
Off i go to find some 960x800 wallpapers.
Cheers guys

Is there a way to have a different wallpaper for each home screen?
Apparently, the Dell Streak can: http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/06/...n.html?cid=6a00d83451c9ec69e20133f1b42196970b
I'd really like to know this too as my wallpaper ends up stretching across my home screens.
The only program I have found is this http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-creativecore-wallpaperplus-jmit.aspx
But I haven't tried it out yet.
Ok so I have ADWLauncher and I've disabled wallpaper scrolling (I HATE WPS) and I can not find a simple method of using a photo as my desktop wallpaper that does not end up with the photo stretched across my home screens (I even killed all the extra home screens).
I've read all about the appropriate size for wallpapers (ex: 960x800) and re-sizing my image then expanding the canvas size, etc... but nothing seems to work. Anyone out there have any suggestions?
the only method i have gotten to work is resizing the picture and then expanding canvas. it can be a little tricky depending on how many screens youhave set. I personally only use 2 so i had the picture at (960x400) and then put it on a canvas of 960x800 this way when it stretched it was exactly right for 1 screen. doing this and turning off scrolling wall paper and it worked
Even when I remove all screens except the primary one it still "acts" as if there are more. What size should I use (for canvas) if I use 3 screens?
It should always be 960x800 regardless of the number of desktops. More desktops just scroll to the side less each swipe (under normal circumstances).
Download the app "wallpaper set and save "

+1 on wallpaper set and save, it lets you set wallpapers at full res without cropping. must have for any rom

Weird I downloaded this and it still does not show me the entire pic. Gonna reflash a fresh ROM to see.
I recently got an Epic 4G Touch. I created some custom wallpapers and sized them to 480x800 to match the screen's resolution. The wallpaper has a single object (the HAL 9000 eye) which is a circle.
When I use the wallpaper as the lock screen, the eye is distorted slightly so that it's no longer a circle.
The gallery displays the image properly and the selection screen for the lock screen also displays it correctly.
I think I can compensate for this by resizing the image slightly, but I don't know how many pixels to remove from the image. I think the status bar might be a good starting point, but I don't know how many vertical pixels it uses.
Thoughts?

Because of wallpaper scrolling, you need 800x960 wallpaper. In other words, double the horizontal dimension to allow for scrolling...
My wallpaper doesn't scroll anymore, I'm not sure why.

I tried creating an 800x960 wallpaper using the same eye image and it didn't work. I used GIMP to create a black background image and then inserted the eye image as a new layer. The 480x800 images I created were done with the same method.
The 800x960 wallpaper is still distorted. So the problem is that the aspect ratio of the lock screen is not quite 480x800 or any multiple of those dimensions.
Through some experimentation, I think that changing the vertical dimension to something less than 800 seems to work. For example, I took my original 480x800 image and cropped 30 pixels off to make an image of 480x770. I then resized the image back to 480x800 while ignoring the aspect ratio. This results in a distorted eye, but the distortion is in the opposite direction. (The 480x800 wallpaper is distorted in the horizontal dimension. The 480x770 resized image is distorted in the vertical dimension.)
The 480x770 image is slightly less distorted so I think this might be the way to go. Short of guessing the right dimensions, I was hoping for a way to determine the best dimensions to use.
To help anyone else reading this thread, I'm attaching the wallpapers I've created. Feel free to download them and try them out.

I think I read somewhere here that the latest Samsung stock update disabled the scrolling wallpaper.
home screen or lock screen?
Lock screen does not scroll.
For home screen you need 800x960 image or you may need to adjust your original 800x480 image to 400x480 and double the pixel size.
To scroll the home screen wallpaper, you need to change the option to make it scroll.

I'm working on the lock screen. With most wallpapers, the difference in the aspect ratio is likely not noticeable. I just happen to see it because my lock screen image has only one component and it's very easy to see when it's distorted.

This really sucks. I also miss the bounce effect on the browser/when you reach the end of a menu. Was it due to the Apple lawsuit?
I made some wallpapers from anime characters as jpeg 1080x2340 and set them as my Home Screen.
My problems is when unlocking up my phone, maybe 1 out of 20 times the wallpaper does not show only the theme wallpaper, If i lock my phone and unlock my wallpaper is instantly back.
I have tried different theme`s and wallpapers and rebooted a number to times but the problem remains.
Is anybody else have this problem.
edit: also sometimes the wallpapers even screenshots from the phone look magnified 4x when set as wallpaper and then i have to load a new theme and then load the image again to get them to show at the correct size.
Thanks
John.
edit: there is a free windows program called "Image Cropper" you can as it says crop an area out of a larger photo, The aspect ratio for RNP8 is 6 x 13 then set the save resolution to 1080x2340, use the highest quality image you can find, There is also one for android called CropImage, select custom and set to 6x13 aspect.

When you select the option to set a wallpaper from the home screen there are various icons.
Perhaps you have to de-select the double arrow in the wallpaper preview window? When it's on it expands the wallpaper or something.
Compass.
Looks like with the Theme app, you can save your current theme including modification, So i have saved my theme with my wallpaper and them re-loaded it, Hopefully this might have fixed my problem but only time will tell.
EDIT: 5 day`s and my problem is still fixed
EDIT 2: My problems is back
EDIT 3: I have used the "ChaoMe Theme Editor" on the Play Store to edit a theme and add my own wallpaper, It seems to be working so far,
