[Q] HTC Likes lib Files?

I would like to pull the "HTC likes" app from TN Shooter ROM but I am not sure what apk and lib files I need to pull so I can install on MikG 2.56. Can someone please tell me what files I need to pull?

I don't know if that'll work right on a Sense 2.1 ROM. It's actually linked to HTC Hub from Sense 3.0+. But if you want to try it, you should only need HtcRecommends.apk. There's a widget too, but since it's a Sense 3.0 Widget, that definitely won't work on MikG.
Let us know if it works (I'm curious).

Tried but did not work. Tried changing permissions to rw-r--r-- but did not work. Is adb pushing different than copy and paste with root file browser? I did a copy and paste of the apk and odex file.

Oh, if the one you're trying to use is odexed, it won't work. You need deodexed to know if it'll work or not. adb push & copy/paste accomplish the same thing.

Mikg 2.56 is an odexed rom, do I still need deodex?
Also, if I still need deodex, do you know where I can get it from?

You can use a deodexed APK in an odexed ROM.
I can post you a deodexed HtcRecommends.apk if you'd like to try it. You should just be able to install it (shouldn't have to adb push or copy/paste anything).

I got a deodex apk from TN shooter 2.2 and still a no go. You must be right. It probably needs to be installed on 3.0. I tried everything and it wont install. Got it to show in app draw but keeps fc. Thanks for help. +1 for taking the time to help me.

Please help me install gallery3d.apk in system apps

I installed the stock ICS gallery as I much prefer it over the 3D gallery that comes with the Galaxy S2 and I stupidly deleted the 3D Gallery from my system apps.
I would normally make a back up but I wasn't thinking I would ever need this again, I was wrong. I can no longer have picture frames on my homescreens or set my lock screen wallpaper! I had no idea that all this would be effected.
If someone could help me out with reinstalling it I would be very much grateful. Im running Stock XWLP7
I have a CWM back up but don't want to back up the whole system folder as I have modded other things since such as Framework files.
Can I find the Gallery3D.APK and Gallery3D.odex file and simply copy and paste them back to my system/app folder and change permissions?
Any help would would be much appreciated

As long as the pics gallery and the 3d gallery are named differently and u set the permissions correctly you should be able to. I have had both on one from before.

You can extract the apk from the system zip inside the cwm backup file using root explorer...

I managed to extract the apk and odex file from Cwm back up, set permissions and it worked
Lesson learnt never delete things if it might interfere with others.
Who'd of thought that removing the gallery would mean I couldn't set lock screen wallpaper!

can u tell me exact location where you find .apk of gallery and odex file.. Coz i have same problem as like u

Another method
-Take the apk from a rom with that gallery included (e.g. villainrom) and install it asyou normally would
-open titanium backup and long tap on the gallery, then select "convert to system app"
-???
-profit

Disabled shutter sound but manual focus still "chirps"

I am having trouble finding and deleting the sound file that "chirps" or "beeps" when I touch an area to focus on my camera. Auto-focus and shutter sound have been removed such as shutter.ogg, shutter_multiple.ogg, Auto_focus.ogg and Auto_focus_error.ogg and some other camera related .ogg.
I tried playing every file under system/media/ui or ringtones or notifications or alarms in Root Explorer to see if I can hear that exact sound. Could not find it. It's gotta be somewhere right?
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

The easier way to do it would have been to simply edit the features.xml file to turn on the shutter sound menu button in your camera app. It is there, but turned off by Sprint by default. Turning it off from your camera disabled both sounds, and you can turn it back on later, if you like. Here's a link:

The focus chirp is actually built into the SamsungCamera.apk. Its not controlled by the feature.xml file or included with the other audio in the system/media folder. As far as I know the only way to silence it is to decompile the apk and remove the sounds in the /res/raw/ directory

Ok, I found the culprit. It's the autofocus_ok.ogg under SamsungCamera.apk/res/raw
Is it safe to delete this? Or do I have to decompile (not sure how to do this)?

I can't say for sure due to the fact that the camera is odexed but u should be able to extract the apk like a zip, remove the files and zip it back up. (Then change .zip to .apk) and replace it

Sorry, I'm not sure how to do this. Is this all done on root explorer? Because I can't find these files when I plug it into my computer.
Ok, I extracted the apk, deleted that file, zipped it back up and moved it to where the original SamsungCamera.apk deleting the old .apk.
Now it won't install the camera. lol
After installing, it says Application not installed. Help?

Yes. Just rooted.
There was also a samsungcamera.odex file I think?
Anyways, I'm unrooting my phone now and will root back.

You don't have to do that. Give me a few I gotta fix for u. Just delete the odex file and I'll give u a deodexed can with the sound files removed

So after deleting the .odex file, I flashed it using CWM and it freezes when I try to open the camera app. Also, I checked the .apk in Root Explorer and it seems like a bunch of files were missing. I didn't even see the res or raw file. Thanks but I guess I'll have to deal with it.

Phone and contacts Force Closing

I'm running the new 9.1 ROM with the new modem.
Everything was working great except I tried to download the new blacked out phone, but I screwed it up.
When I get a call the com.android.phone app FCs and I can't answer the call, when I try and place a call, it says CONTACTs has stopped responding.
Can anyone post the phone and contacts app that I can push to the system/app folder?

You already have it, it's inside the Wicked rom zip file you downloaded and flashed.
Open the Wicked rom zip file which you flashed and open the SYSTEM folder.
(if you don't have the zip file just re-download the wicked v9.1 rom)
Inside that folder there is a folder called APP, open that folder and scroll down until you see
"SecPhone.apk" copy/extract that file to you desktop and then push or copy it to your phones
internal/external sdcard or if you PUSH the file, push it to /system/app .
You will need a root capable file manager like root explorer to do the above.
Be sure to reboot the phone after you are finished doing the above.
Once that's done you will have the same phone (contacts/dialer screens) as you had when you
first flashed the rom.
Just in case you have an issue with it or its not working right be
sure to use the fix permissions options in cwm or twrp recovery.
The reason the blacked out phone did not work for you and caused all the issues
you are having with it is because its not compatible with the phone and or the rom.

When you look at the permissions it should look like the diagram below.

Did you do a nandroid backup?
You might need to do a full wipe and flash ROM again if pushing SecContacts doesn't solved it.

Yeah, this isn't working.
I tried ripping out and replacing both the contacts and phone, changed the permissions, but it's still not working.
Is the phone app permissions the same?
****! Any other last ideas before I do a full wipe?

(there is only one app which needs to be copied back to the phone)
(it's filename is SecPhone.apk - the permissions are RWRR)
(there is no contacts.apk or any other filename which is needed)
Sorry I have no other ideas.

Need stock SystemUI.apk and .odex files

Can someone post their stock SystemUI.apk and .odex files? I accidentally flashed a theme and forgot I was still odex'ed. (facepalm)
I'd rather not Odin back right now, I've already rooted & frozen a lot of apps.

Just rename all the .odex files (file manager while in recovery) with a .odex.bak and it should work fine.

Awesome just tried it out and it worked! I feel like such a noob [emoji1]
Also if anyone else reads this, make sure to mount the system partition in TWRP so you can see the files under /system/priv-app

Glad it worked for you! And totally forgot about that step. -_- I had to learn that one the hard way a few times myself. lol
