Does anyone know how to get rid of that keyboard icon in the notification bar when typing? I know it's not really hurting anything, but it's kind of annoying. Or is this something a dev will have to remove from a custom ROM?

I couldn't find anywhere to remove it either.. Just a bit annoying unless you are a multiple keyboard freak that likes to try different ones back and forth
Well hopefully when the devs start really customizing roms, that will get pulled out, sort of like the 100% battery notification on some GB roms.

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I've searched, but really haven't been able to find an answer on this... is it possible to get just a simple, black notification bar using a rooted, stock G2 rom?
I don't want to apply a theme to everything, don't want to fiddle with what isn't broken (too much). Not really interested in running a CM rom at this point, just want to have a nice dark colored notification bar that doesn't look god awful with the rest of my screen.
If it's just not doable, any possibility it might be an option in 2.3?

You have to be using a de-odexed stock rom in order to apply black notification bar. also, 2.3 will have black bar as stock but we dont know if tmobile will push out a gingerbread update for the G2 quite yet. I'd say yes but you might have to wait 6 months knowing tmobile. we will probably have a port way sooner than that though.
Thanks. I'll go ahead and try the deodexed rom and go from there I gues.
Well basically as the title says. I'm running Calkulins E4GT v1.3a ICS and i would LOVE to be able to get rid of the battery and clock in the notification bar. I know that in Cyanogen they have a simple option to remove it. Does anyone know of anything I can do? Thanks in advance.

Flash any AOSP from and you should have the ability lime you said. Or try to Google it, since there are SystemUI tweaks that can be done but unsure if it can be implemented in ICS. I made those changes in GB.....

yeah, i've done the same thing when i had my Evo4G to change "SPRINT" to whatever i wanted in the lockscreen. But I just don't want to mess with anything im not 100% sure of.
Hi all.
I am using Cm10 and have been for awhile but was wondering what the main differences are between CM and Task?
Can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks a lot

I find AOKP gives you more choices to customize your device.
Would you mind elaborating on that and giving me some examples
If not I totally understand.
Have a great evening

You have more options to mod the UI:
ROM Control- you can get nav bar like in nexus
change battery icon style, color
disable or custom boot animation
change toggle style and layout
add brightness bar to statusbar
enable face down audio mode when u put phone face down it would go to silent or vibrate
and more
lots of goodies that in cm10 you have to custom install
I find cm10 to be smoother than aokp

Interesting, seems like there are quite a few extras and worth the trial. The only think i see missing from CM10 is the additional 2 shortcuts from the lock screen (not a huge deal for me anyways)..
I'm curious though, how would one use ROM control with nav bar like in nexus (since S3 already has meny and back capacative)? Just wondering how it may be used..
Thanks again

Some people are used to the nav bar, maybe if they're coming from a Galaxy Nexus or something. I don't find it useful at all, because as you said, the S3 already has a menu, back, and home button. Also, you'll lose a bit of screen space by using them. Hope this helps!
I searched but on the xda app all I got was hundreds of ROM threads.. When I pull down the notification drawer on stock JB the toggles start off the screen to the right and slide over. Is there any way to disable this?? It is really annoying!
I couldn't find a way either, the only way was to flash a rom with the 15 toggle mod.

Aw man. I'm too afraid to go back to a custom ROM because I NEED WiFi calling to be somewhat useable. It's such a stupid animation. I don't get why they did it.
My wife's sgs2 nav bar died. So I flashed slimbean which has a softkey nav bar capability and that rom kicks ass. Problem is that its her phone and she misses touchwiz. Specifically the calendar. So is the anyone out there that can point me to a rom with touchwiz and softkey nav bar, or even better, guide me to a thread that helps me install softkey nav in the Jedi mind trick ROM? Please help guys.

Thanks man, but those are a no go. Tried the first one and its just a pain (it does work in a pinch, just not suitable for daily use). The second one doesn't install nav softkeys, it just allows you to change their properties if the phone already has nav softkeys, which slimbean already has that customization ability baked in.
oo ok scratch that an maybe try this but not promissed but staying on slim but giving her the Touch wiz 5 launcher that way she can still use the stocky look but still have the navbar maybe ???? if not i hate to say it here but you can try out JellyBam on goo.im and in there settings you can download the TW launcher for her or even paranoid since they have the most customization out there and or stable jelly milestone 6 was the stable and true just a thought to try and help
Use whatever rom you like, with the navigation bars you want. Then pay a couple bucks for pure grid calendar widget. Its pretty much the same as the touchwiz Calender widget....plus themes for it.

I would open the phone and see if the ribbon did not pop out. Replacing is expensive( not the keypad, but the screen) as you have to get the screen out and good chance for damaging. Keypad is cheap.
Thanks for the replies. I have actually taken the phone apart and the ribbon cable was in place. Not really interested in a widget either, but it is a nice widget. I did however find this:
