If you take a look at the Development Thread for the One X, you'll sure get confused by all the AOSP Roms you can find there (I'm also really confused). So I started this discussion Thread to compare this roms and help people finding the best AOSP Rom for the One X
We have 9 AOSP Roms, I have personally tried many of these, but I really need the help of the community for the reviews of the Roms
But first... Why install a AOSP Rom? I love AOSP Roms because they are very simple, clean, user-friendly and really performance. You can download and apply many themes, tweak your device and give it your personal print!. With Sense roms my Internal memory was fast full even if I didn't put in it my files, I don't know why, but my Sense Rom filled my SDcard... BUT AOSP Roms have many bugs, like stock camera, WiFi direct (read the whole thread), and you can't use Beats Audio, because AOSP can't read Beats libraries (if I understand...)
So, let's start!
-Interpresentation's CM9 NIGHTLY UPDATED!!
CyanogenMod 9 Development
It's a every-nightly updated Rom, it's the basic CM9 with only a few issues, great Rom, hope you enjoy it!
User Reviews
"The focus of this Rom is to get a complete CM9 tree set up for One X, the others have extras, but this one is the simple nightly CM9 with great battery life and performances"
Issues
-Camera focusing on face
-Data Connection occasionally fails
Battery Test
1day and a half (user datas)
-Tbalden's CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 11 UPDATED!!
CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 11
This last, but not least CM9 Rom is one of the most preferred AOSP build, thanks to the stability and the less number of bugs you can find in. This Alpha 3 update brings LINARO optimizations (hope it works well and truly optimizes our phone), it should have fixed echo issues but it has to be tested... The Alpha 4 fixed a BT issue and added a few tweaks and the leasts updates fixed GPS, orientation sensors and LED notifications. I can't follow each update, it's daily , but here you have the changelog, the Rom is great, everything is working, stock camera, start working on MHL, Rom updated with new CM9 changes!!!
After a long development period (a week) tbalden came with an other alpha update (10th) that gaves a high-stability to your CM9. I'm using it for a whole day, battery is great and I haven't encountered any single bug... Great!!!
BLACK SCREEN ROTATION FIXED in Alpha11!!!!!
"Faster, smoother and more responsitive build"
Issues
-Face Focus
Battery Test
Personally tested, I use my phone a lot and it lasts me a whole day, so I'm really happy with battery!
Floatshow's PARANOIDANDROID [RC3] UPDATED!!
PARANOIDANDROID EndeavorU[ICS 4.0.4][HYBRID][STABLE]
If you had a SGS, GNEX, GNOTE, S2, Desire, Sensation and many others, you probably know about this great Rom (Official Site). It has the PAD and PAL (Per-App-Density and Per-App-Layout) that make this Rom not just a Tablet mode, that shrinks the dimensions of the apps and LCD density, but with PAL, this Rom changes tha apps layout, they really look like tablet apps: this is the first (and unique) Hybrid Rom, and it runs great!!!
The RC3 update brings alpha10 fixes and ParanoidAndroid 1.5 improvements!
User Reviews
Amazing from, very fast and beautiful!!!
Issues
-Can't feel Vibration
-Haptic Feedback not working
-Backlight buttons bug
-Recent apps aren't appearing with hardware buttons
-Mismatch tapped number/displayed number (PIN)
Battery Test
Great Battery life
-TripNRaVeR's CM9
CyanogenMod 9 - Endeavor Unleashed 017
You maybe don't like him, but he's a great developer that has solved the in-call volume issue, we have to be proud of him
He has built CM9 for months, with a huge changelog that's making his rom quite perfect, this new update made the touchscreen more responsibility. Trip is developing a 3.1.10 kernel, we all have to thanks him because many features are fully wotking, you can find the kernel here

"Freaking fast, best Rom for my One X"
Here a complete review with battery stats!
Issues
-Face Focus
Battery Test
Battery drains a full charger in 7-12 hours with heavy use. If you keep your screen off, it will last much longer
-Owain94's CM9 Domination Build7 UPDATED!!
Domination - Taking Cyanogenmod to the next level
This is one of the two Roms I've flashed on my One X, but I didn't like it at all, battery is not good but we have many many tweaks to use:
Custom density, kill button in recent apps, tablet mode, NEON codecs, font changer and many more... The update increses the phone performances and the gives you a really smooth device. This new update (Build5) improves performances, adds tweaks and drain less battery! Build 6 fixes everything, from random reboots, to a2dp and MHL support! The build 7 update fixes black screen rotation but there is a multitouch bug that will be fixes soon. Check the HUGE changelog here
Issues
-Camera FCing, use third-party cameras, they work
Battery Test
Not Good (don't have numeric datas)
-Krarvind's Slim ICS 4.0.4
Slim ICS (OneX) - Clean, Simple & Fast
And this is the second one I've tried and I REALLY like it: battery is great, i think because we have a lot of free RAM (1.1 GB free of space in system!). It's fully customizable because it has AOKP settings, only 100MB to download. This 4.1 update brings performance improvements, many fixes and WiFi Direct and a2dp working!!! Try it because kravind made a really impressive Rom! New updated file with a single zip to flash (that includes basic rom, essencials and slim gapps). Official Site Here
Issues
-Camera FCing when focusing and recording long videos (in 720p and 1080p)
-Wifi Hotspot
Battery Test
Great, 2 days normal using (don't have numeric datas)
-Nzvbjr's Unofficial AOKP HTC One X [Build5][b40]
[Beta4][b39]Unofficial AOKP HTC One X
This is the first but the less flashed AOSP Rom I think , but the developer has fixed most of te bugs, i hope people will try it.
With this new update the developer made a very fast AOPK, he fixed Hotspot, only stock camera FCs, you have to use Third-party cameras
I personally try it, it's a good Rom but after signing in in Play Store, I couldn't download many apps, they were incompatibles, but I used them in other Roms before.
With this new update this AOKP come out from beta version and becomes build 1, every bug is fixed if you don't care about the 0.5s blackscreen in rotation . But the dev made a bad work in this new update (build5), battery is more than terrible and instead of many improvements, like DSP manager and CM7 settings, the Rom is not as smooth as before the update, and GPS in very slow, hope the dev will check these soon...
Issues
-GPS is not perfect
-Camera FC
-In-call Volume
Battery Test
Battery is terrible, draind a lot with display OFF and much more with display ON...
-The|gamer's AOKP
AOKP (Build IMM76I)
Compiled with Trup's Tree, this is a great AOPK port, I haven't flashed yet, so I hope you guys help me reviewing this build
User Reviews

This is not a CM9, neither a AOKP, it's only a AOSP/Vanilla Rom, I didn't try it but users say that it's faster than others AOSP Roms and stable, no FCs or crashes during tests. I hope you try it, it's a very promising Rom . In this Rom you can't find any third-party app, it's clean, you have to install them by your own
Issues
-Wifi Direct

For the moment I use The|Gamers AOKP (build 1.2) and it works pretty well...
most problem's I had with other rom's was fc during filming or the echo.
On this One there is no echo but I didn't test the cam.
Battery life is pretty good (IMO) and everything seem's quite stable...
I'm hoping to see this Linandro fixes and camera enhancement soon
Thanks for this summary. Looks like none of them are ready for prime-time.
I need to install an AOSP build to test GPS (mine's broken under Sense), based on this, not sure which way to go.
most are ready really to be used as a daily driver. but i think maybe a few more weeks for the developers to iron out all the little issues and then we shall see the goods
great thread

well you are going to laugh but i tried Slim and within few minutes reverted back to my backup rom. got use to sense to much plus would be ideal if we had an app which could control voltages and frequencies much better than what we have out on the market (which basically is none) system tuner to much crap in that app. so for now i will stick with Sense..
anyways will try a new rom next week so will let you know how i get on. hopefully is more than a few minutes

It's the opposite for me , my phone run smoother with tha AOSP builds and I'm using Slim for a week without any heat problems with the annoying green-red-green-red LEDs when the charger was plugged in. Sense is more elegant but it's really huge. Regarding to your answer, i don't use any volteges controller, i really don't like them, i let my phone do what he likes , and thanks for your upcoming help

What is slim doing that makes his battery life better than all of the other ROMs? I've not noticed any difference between ROMs. I thought that it was essentially the kernel that determines battery life.
Slim is called Slim because the developer removed everything that was not necessary to make his rom working, so there are less worling processes and less Ram used, with a minimum battery heating and better battery life. You are right, battery drain is made by kernel, but this things I explained before help the phone to save more juice!!!
Thanks for your effort! Versions of vanilla is what Android is about, the rest is just unhealtvy fat, imo

THIS THREAD IS BASED ON HANDS ON USE
Use an app other than Tapatalk, or view via desktop to get the full benefits of the OP.
This thread is now CHANGED to everything battery related on new roms. Thread used to be called "BEST ROM FOR EPIC 4G TOUCH" but due to recent flood of posts about bad battery life on various roms especially Jelly Bean roms, I have decided to change this into a thread about battery performance. Users can still post their pictures about how they got their battery to perform.
I will and I am sure others will too try their best to help with any battery related issues or questions you might have. To get proper advise, please post screen shots of battery usage along with screen on time. Also try to get an app such as Better Battery Stats or Gsam Battery monitor and provide screen shots of your kernel wake locks and parital wake locks from Bettery Battery Stats. Do not worry if you can't figure out the information. We will try to help you figure it out
The goal is to achieve maximum battery life possible by using various resources already available such as "PROJECTLACEBO" - For E4GT Optimization along with other tips from members who have been with this phone for a long time.
If you don't care about what happened in this thread prior to the change jump to this page directly.
POST 2 will be modified accordingly.
In order to give new flashers, or those new to the E4GT, a better answer when it comes to which rom runs the smoothest, (or at the very least, has better battery life) these roms for the E4GT have been tested for at least 90-95% of battery, each.
There are far too many subjective opinions as to which runs the best. THIS THREAD IS BASED ON HANDS ON EXPERIENCE WITH THESE ROMS.
This is an opportunity to lay to rest preferences based on single rom testing. The sole purpose of the thread is to help the E4GT community.
The objective here is based on peoples EXPERIENCE with these roms. This will help determine:
-which has better battery life
-which experiences/doesn't experience LoS, force close, freeze...
-Name of each rom as it is being tested
-Four screen shots per rom.
1. About phone (displaying build number)
2. Battery at 98-100%
3. Display time (1-8%)
4. Battery duration (5-10%)
-No charge on device.
These roms were chosen based on tests and regular maintenance, and will be updated as the roms are updated.
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LIST (IF ANY) WHAT THEME AND TWEAKS YOU ARE USING
I will be running all ROMs stock as published by DEV. May be some visual mods but nothing more such as battery tweaks etc.
AS ALWAYS. FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! DON'T FORGET TO THANK THESE DEVELOPERS, THEMERS, MODS, AND CONTRIBUTERS!!!

For some reason phone was not going into deep sleep half of the time. Stayed at 200MHz. My guess is thats why battery performance was poor. I am sure messing with governors and other things could have achieved deep sleep. But out of box, very smooth, nice gs3 launcher etc. Oh yeah and advanced data restore from nand is not best option for this rom. It will mess up widgets and launcher.

First of all, I installed this rom using method 1 in the op of the rom and it didn't work out so well. Sprint id continues to force close. And as you can see from screen shots for some reason android os % was high and stay awake for 6 hours. In short don't follow this method to install. My guess is since this is complete stock rom with just added few tweaks, it is missing some things which is removed by most custom roms. Overall it was smooth if you ignore sprint id fc. 4g indeed is fast. Sorry that I forgot to grab the setup screenshot.

To be honest when I first got this phone, I was overwhelmed by all the different roms out there. I wanted a source where they were all in one place and had info such as the one brainsurgeon has provided us. This thread and the wiki were the 2 main places I looked.
I realize that at the beginning some were confused and didn't agree with the purpose of the thread but trust me this thread had helped me and I am sure others have been helped too.
With that said, I will be starting to manage the thread once I have some questions cleared up.

Battery tips updated 10/27/2012
Tip 1:- Keeping your wifi on even when it is not needed is not always beneficial. For example when phone is in deep sleep. Wifi could keep your phone awake and keep waking your phone up. To save some battery it is better to have wifi disconnect/turn off when phone is sleeping. Thanks to PhAkEer you can use this script to achieve that.
Original post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32408825&postcount=396
PhAkEer said:
With to stay on 'never' it still obeys wifi_idle_ms
I'm not even sure what default setting is but I usually set it to like 6 or so
For whoever
http://db.tt/SQdxsNUb
If you untar that file, move it to xbin and execute it... your WiFi will sleep according to your sleep policy.
A heads up though, that script also sets gtalk idle ms,
Long press timeout, dchp max retries, MMS max message size 99999999, disables drop boxes spyware... etc..
Click to collapse
To use it, download zarchiver from play store. Download the file PhAkEer posted. Extract the settings file anywhere using zarchiver and then move it to /system/xbin folder. Also set permissions to execute. This can be easily done using ES File Explorer and going into properties of that Settings file.
Tip 2:- Run all JB roms on this setup
-Governor = Pegasusq
-Max cpu freq = 1000Mhz
-Min cpu freq = 200Mhz
JB roms are so smooth that underclocking doesn't affect performance a bit.
Tip 3:- Turn off auto sync. Unless your are a very busy person and can't afford to miss any e-mails and have to read them as soon as they come, I don't see a reason for auto sync to be on.. Not just email but this is for all sorts of data sync. Manually sync from time to time OR setup e-mail programs to sync every 4 hours or so.
Tip 4:- If you are seeing lots of audio_out wake locks in better battery stats, go to sound settings and turn off lock screen sounds, tap sounds etc.
I'm having trouble following the intent of the thread.. Personal rom preference and opinion (which you don't want?) comes from having experience with the rom (which you do want). Further, you've already linked (broken links btw) to probably the 3 best roms for E4GT.
I'm not trying to be douchebaggy or a picker of nits, just confused.
Not to be douche baggy, I will simplify for you. Any forum outside of a particular rom itself asking 'which rom is the best?' is usually flooded with opinions about roms that the poster has never tested. Many times people will insist one rom is better without ever flashing the other.
Furthermore, flashing and running these roms that many consider to be the best, and running them for an equal amount of time with their previous data setup, will help give a more honest and accurate answer as to which is better. I'm fully aware that all devices have their own personality. This will help pinpoint the best (at least battery wise), regardless.
Links fixed. I moved this thread from general to the appropriate area and failed to update links...
And this is just your opinion.... Lots of people think that cm7 , cm9 , MIUI and name any other ROM is the best .... It's impossible to say the best because I like my roms a certain way just like you like yours a certain way ....

How's that cm9 running on your E4GT???
It's simple. Run what MANY consider the best roms (posted above) with your exact same setup and see which one runs better for you. Which has better battery life for you? Which feels snappier?... If you don't have the energy or motivation to do so, then don't.

ROFL don't get me started. I have a love/hate relationship with this thing.
Hopefully I grabbed the right screens. At a work meeting, heh.
I did have airplane mode on for a bit (not long at all) towards the end as I get horrific signal at my buddies apt building which saps the battery like crazy.

Haven't tried Blazer yet. I have been pretty loyal to strongsteve's ROM but I have a Calkulin nandroid as well because I always have a black themed setup and a blue one. Plus I have tested a few themes for friends. I like to change it up from time to time

Welcome to OverDrive
OverDrive is a ROM me and a few people have been working on for the past few months. This ROM poped-up first in Android Central by me Redbaron, The reason this poped-up was the main fact that there are only a hand full of ROMs for the LG Optimus V, and I am a flashing junkie, meaning I change ROMs like I chew gum, chew it up until the flavor is gone, then spit it out. So here is a ROM created from Stock, and built from the ground up. Having both tested to work on new and older Optimus V's in this thread you can find StockOV which is a rooted and modified running Android 2.2.1 updates are coming soon for this ROM. As for OverDrive, OverDrive is a heavenly modified ROM ported from Stock, running Android 2.2.2 removed all VM's stock apps, kept the Activate app, imported modules and files from kernels for optimum use and performance.
I AM NOT RESPOSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR FLAWS IN YOUR PHONE, NOR BRICKED PHONES, YOU DO WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR PHONE BECAUSE YOU DO IT. A LITTLE KNOWN FACT DO NOT LG FACTORY RESET!!! UNDER ADVANCED MENU. DO NOT!!

Interesting let me look into that, as for a launcher, I know ADW works great. Please try out GoEX and see what happens, maybe let me know what happens?
Thank you for the complements
Hi there yes im running go launcher i like it. I think when there is alot of apps you have that illusion that its faster because of scrolling. I use horizontal launcher pro setting on this and its pretty nice too. But so far scrolling sideways works best for me. ADW is nice too. The kernel works nice for me too i use 480/806. Battery still seems to be good
I know exactly what you mean, I'm currently working on a custom kernel for OverDrive, I am also working on a custom ROM
I just bought my Optimus V and roms Display a Blackscreen. I can tell they are booting and things seem to work based on sounds but the video drivers are not working with this new phone.
Scratch That, I Just Tried To Install It And It Won't Load For Me Either. Just Getting The Black LG Screen, Please Help (It Was The 2.2.2 Version)
Edit: I'm Trying The v1.0 Now.
Edit: v1.0 Works But 2.2.2 Is What I'm Looking For.
Very interesting, I'm assuming both of you have newer Optimus V phones. Am I correct about this? If so then I need to investigate this issue, because this ROM has been known to work on both old and new phones. So all you guys get is a black screen yet you can hear the start up sounds? Sounds like my kernel needs the latest display drivers for the new Optimus V.

Don't know how handy you are with a kernel but I have but two requests if at all possible.
Multitouch typing is a bit of a pain on the OV. Alot of the times close taps (like C+H on the keyboard) get registered as a slide. Sometimes even further away keys like U+P. Dunno if its possible to fix that in the kernel but it would solve a major annoyance of mine.
The other, being implementation of "Deep Idle". I figured since CDMA eats more battery than GSM when connected, it could grant some extra time on battery.
And lastly, good luck on the ROM. I am stuck with Froyo due to IHO performance/battery woes and outside of my failed attempts to theme BumbleBee as Gingerbread, I've had nothing to look forward to. Will be testing more when you have your kernel up to go with the ROM.
One last Q Iforgot to ask. With regards to your current Stock version, is the Time Without Signal bug fixed there? Overclocking is of no real use to me, so flashing the BB kernel does me no good _for now_ (I could just use BB! ).

Yeah I just bought my phone about a week ago. I can hear the Start up sound and even unlock the phone and start to dial. The Screen is on I can see the back light but The Screen is completely Black. I would assume this is due to the Display Driver issue.

Thank you for your input, every peace of detail helps.
I have been investigating this problem ever since you posted the bug, It would seem the stock kernel is meant for the older phone, but this is an easy quick fix, Give me today to fix this and I will release an update today. Thank you again for your detailed bug report.

I'm a little bit new to kernel development, yet I have experience but I just cracked the book on linux kernels which is the same basis of Android kernels, I can't promise anything, but I can do my best. The multi-touch might not be that hard to work on, as for the "Deep Idle" I will be looking into this and all about it, I have been working on perfecting my ROM(s) before continuing and finishing my kernel development, but I have taken your input into consideration, I think having more then 2 points for multi-touch will be a great advantage, but lets see what I can do. I have no team, no help, and still learning in the process, there are so many things to learn and so little time. As for the "Time Without Signal" I have found this fix for that problem, I don't think my StockOV ROM has the fix yet, because I did port it from the Stock Optimus V ROM. So I will be adding that to StockOV.
Hmm, ok. Obijohn had fixed the TWS bug in the kernel itself; would be helpful to have his BB kernel source. Dunno where he got/how he did the patch though. Would be much better than using the app.
As for multitouch, I think it's just how the phone handles the proximity of the two points. Unsure myself, I am just a power user, but I don't think the phone is capable of more than two points.
I wish your ROMs well. I'll be lying in the bushes in wait to test.

I've been running Bumblebee 2.4 ever since release, and I've tried loads of other ROMS. They all are either too bloated, too slow, crash too often, or have features missing. I've been running 1.1 ever since release and I'm impressed. Works great - fast, and no problems. The new go-to ROM.

You need an Overclocking app,
Search the market for
OverclockWidget, or CPU Tuner.
You can also use ROM Toolbox.
I don't add these apps because everyone uses different overclocking programs, I didn't want another app that takes up space.
Just for the convenience of the user,
Got it. Thanks for the quick reply.

----------------------------------------------------
Hi everyone.
This is a notice to everyone that BrassDroid is being discontinued. We had a lot of fun doing it and we have learned a lot about the Android system.
However we are currently working on a few other projects including some games for android and maybe, before long, iPhone that is taking up the majority of our time.
When JellyBean 4.2 was released we felt there was only little we could do to improve the ROM... Maybe add the quick link bar at the top (as well as leaving Google's extra Notification area), we were also considering implementing the dual screen from the S3 and maybe an optional unity like menu that could be swiped from the left side (Think that may also on the S3). But as mentioned before, we just don't have the time these days. :crying:
We'd like to thank everyone who helped us through this immense learning curve. We were complete noobs to the programming scene (building a website was our limit) when we started this and cannot thank you all enough for being guinea pigs We have really enjoyed doing this project and appreciate the time you've spent testing our ROM's (especially our friends across the pond who were willing to try our blind built LTE ones).
Once again thank you to everyone who helped us and tested for us, we couldn't have done it without you
Maybe our paths will cross again soon
-----------------------------------------------------------
We have recently found ourselves being caught up in numerous projects and are not quite able to keep up the regular updates as you may have noticed. We just want to take this opportunity to say that they will likely become slightly farther apart. I'd like to think that at the most they will be every two weeks. Hopefully more regular though to keep in-line with the current CM changes (however we are slowly building our own ROM from the AOSP that we hope to use instead of CM... however this is a long time away yet)
We'd like thank everyone for their support during the development of this ROM and hope you continue to enjoy it (If you have )
A BrassFeet ROM for Galaxy Nexus.
Here we have BrassDroid, a collaboration between PjFlo and DeeToTheVee.
This comes in two flavours. A modable CM10 kang and a clean, smooth AOSP build.
These are compiled with the brilliant and energy effecient, Trinity Kernel by, Morfic.
I have found this to be a great combination of power and battery life.
This rom also includes a few build.prop tweaks aswell and some shaven fat.
Stable CM10 Source
Choice of Trinity or Franco Kernel.
Trebuchet.
Ability to move clock to the centre. (Temporarily removed - This is due to notification clashing with the clock)
NavBar mods, Menu, Search etc.
Extra browser controls.
Improved scrolling.
Improved dithering.
Google apps included!
Added smart stay app for keeping the screen on when looking at it (Disabled by default)
All new Android 4.2 features!
New Android camera with fully functional PhotoSphere!
New Android gesture keyboard (YOU NEED TO ENABLE THIS YOURSELF!!!!)
Go to settings - language and input and set the keyboard to Android Keyboard. (NOT THE AOSP ONE!!)
BrassDroid RC3 - 06/11/2012
PLEASE READ!!!!
THERE WILL BE A PERIOD ON FIRST BOOT WHERE THE PHONE WILL RESTART AND ON SECOND BOOT ATTEMPT THE SCREEN WILL GO BLACK. THE SCREEN GOING BLACK IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE BOOTANIMATION DOES NOT RUN LONG ENOUGH. BE PATIENT IT WILL BOOT!
WE WILL MAKE A NEW ONE BEFORE LONG BUT WE'RE NOT VISUAL DESIGNERS SO DON'T EXPECT TO BE BLOWN AWAY!
We strongly recommend a full wipe before installing this update as it will be replacing the camera app. It requires the Gallery2 apk to be removed so that GalleryGoogle can be installed. (Although I did a dirty flash and all was fine, DeeToTheVee recommended a wipe)
If you are comfortable with doing this manually then a dirty flash should be fine. If you're unsure then just do a wipe and then install the new update.

Wipe data+cache and flash .zip with CWM.
If you are running BrassDroid already feel free to 'dirty' flash.
If you are coming from another CM10 build; remove any screen customisations (gamma etc.) before wiping and flashing this rom!
To enable the additional menu items for Trebuchet you MUST set it as the default laucher.

[ROM][CM10]BrassDroid, Trinity, JB_4.1.1[Clean][Fast][Power Saver]
Changelog:
RC3 06/11/2012
Latest feature listing (kind of a changelog but not quite)
Disabled centre clock for now as there has been some issues compiling with the latest source. It will hopefully be back though - main issue is that notifications are overlapping the time and this looks pretty ugly so... we'll see.
Disabled our default notification colour due to some reported issues, once again will be back soon.
Profiles added again (will, in final build, be disabled by default though)
Status bar power widget now has with most common widgets
Nav bar mods:
Ability to add and remove buttons from the navbar
(height adjustment will come in final build)
New stopwatch and countdown added to desk clock
Enabled development by default and some options within it
loads of the other general CM additions - far too many to name all of them
Choice of Trinity or Franco Kernel.
Disabled and removed CM updater to stop any updates to a CM build. We will remove all references to any Cyanogen features for stable. (Not to discredit them of course, just to stop conflicts)
Almost latest gapps. (Some like Chrome and Earth will need to be installed manually by you)
New cyanogen file manager - removed es file explorer
New data folder for apps some users may wish to uninstall such as facebook, instagram, franco updater etc etc
Added smart stay app for keeping the screen on when looking at it (Disabled by default)
New camera and gallery app including photosphere
New keyboard from Android 4.2 with gesture features
RC2 missed - generally just CM updates

This changelog will be updated when I find the file with the list of changes we've made.

Seems a good combo. I will try tonight. Would you consider adding manual mods? I have in mind navigation bar mods as it is the only feature remained worthy to be implemented.

Hi, I don't seem to be able to replicate this error with Gnow, I use the eos 22072012 versions.
Check your app draw, if you see an app called 'search' go into its app settings and disable it, then try using Gnow again..
Thats all I can suggest other than trying another Gapps.
Let us know if this helps! Pjflo.
A fix for the video camera is on the way

Thanks. Looking forward to the video camera fix. I fixed Google now by flashing the non-eos gapps from goo.im dated 26072012. It works perfectly fine now. So you will be merging CM nightlies weekly or so? At the moment there are not so many bugs so I prefer to stay on this. Thanks again for a great ROM. Oh yes there is actually another bug, just cosmetic, enabling airplane mode still shows the signal bars. Not so critical though.
Thanks for getting back, Yes the plan was to do weekly merges, however this will be dependent on the current state of CM10. So it may vary.
The next build will correct the status bar bug as well as video cam, and bring a few extra cherry-picks.
Also expect a few goodies from us to.
Hope this answers your questions.
PJflo.
Nobody has brought navigation bar modification feature yet. Glad to see you guys importing it, if you think the same.

Jelly King 2.0 Review
Introduction:
So I've been using Jelly King 2.0 for quite some time now, and I obviously like it. So, I decided to write a review for this, so that they can have a look at the main plus points and negative points for the ROM and decide whether they want it or not.
Alright, so let's start off the review.
Note: No tweak has been used except for the in-built adrenaline engine and INT2EXT (used for increasing internal memory). The phone has not been overclocked, it is on Stock 600MHz.
Jelly King 2.0:
Jelly King 2.0 (I will call it JK2 from now on) is the successor of Jelly King 1.0,1.1.,1.2 and 1.3.

Minor bugs like - Low Brightness, Auto Brightness, CRT Animation have been fixed. (i.e. the ROM is pretty much complete)
Adrenaline Engine in-built to give you speed.
Main Bugs:
Camera quality worse than stock Sense ROMs.
Camcorder recording framerate is very low.
Panoramas generated are not correct.
Data disconnects randomly sometimes.
USB Tethering does not work (i. e. Using phone as modem doesn't work).
Google Now Voice Search doesn't work.
All in all, these bugs are very very minor, as the Camera on the whole works. So, it shouldn't be a HUGE problem, unless you take lots of photos with your phone. If so, switch to Sense or CM7.2.
Now, I'm going to stress on a few major points which people look at when choosing a ROM.
Stability:
As far as I'm concerned, I give this ROM a 8.5/10 for stability. Quite stable, no issues whatsoever, only that I rarely face a random reboot.
Performance:
Now first of all let me remind you that our phone has a 600MHz single-core processor , with Adreno 200 GPU. Not much compared to today's phones, huh? Yet, this ROM gives you solid performance. I've been playing games like Rope N' Fly 3, Temple Run 1, Temple Run 2, The Sandbox, Age Of Zombies, Jetpack Joyride the whole day. And it hardly lags. I give it a 9/10 for giving good performance on compatible games even with such a low CPU clock speed.
Battery Life:
When you first use this ROM, you would be like, "Damn, the battery sucks." I was that way too, you know. But on closer examination of battery stats, you'll see that majority portion of the battery is being sucked by the display. So, the solution is simple. You put the brightness between minimum to 25%. I have myself put it on minimum and experienced a drastic increase in standby battery life, as well as screen on battery life.
Note: I am on the .15M Radio, it gives slightly better battery than others.
Benchmarks:
Now, I don't really do benchmarks, but I gave the FPS one a shot. I will not be doing AnTuTu Benchmark, because it calculates the score based on CPU Clock Speed and SD Card Reading speed, so obviously, the scores will differ.
NenaMark2: 14.6FPS. Quite the shocker, no? On such low hardware power, 14.6FPS is amazing. Good job kantry!
And finally,
Tips And Tricks:
You MAY feel some lag while using this ROM. In order to remove it completely, I recommend using Seeder 2.0.0 (if you want to support the dev, a paid Google Play version is available).
I also recommend using the v6 Supercharger script by zeppelinrox.
Screenshots:
All screenshots can be found in my folder on Google Drive, here.
So, that's the end of this review. If you have any points you would like me to add, please do post a reply and tell me, I will add it soon!
I do hope this review has helped you all. Best of luck in choosing your ROM!

For battery consumption you could use system tuner (on play store) and set in config when the screen is of frequency=480mhz and governor=powersaver

Very good review!
I'd add that data disconnections can happen, and I'd "just" give a good 8 or 9 for stability, but I think it's overall pretty accurate.
Are you sure the .15M radio gives better battery life? I had the opposite feeling (so in favor of 10.M), but I didn't really test it particularly...
Great rom anyway.

I forgot the data bug, thanks! And o just had 2 random reboots after this review. Down to 8.5.
And yes, it does improve battery life by quite a considerable amount and you can upgrade it with my tutorial, link is in my sig.

Andropalace has an ARMv6 version of Temple Run 1&2. Pretty smooth, both. Only that temple run 1 has an auto die bug, where you die in the middle at any point. So I recommend Temple Run 2. Newer and bug free.

Well, won't be for today. I tried everything (I've tried for hours now), but nothing seems to work. Even with your thread....
Don't know what I missed (tried with RUU, renaming rom.zip, with stock boot/system/recovery, re-made Goldcard...) but I've only lost data by mistake. :silly:
Well, maybe I'll understand later. Or not.
Hi, I got a question.
I flashed today my Wildfire S with JK 2.0. First thing I got to the Play store and install a few apps:
Droidwall
Beats Audio
ROM manager
Whatsapp
While I'm on the Play store the Play Store itself updates itself.
When the time comes to install Whatsapp, I get an error: no space available ... I go in the Storage menu to check. Not much space: 15M indeed.
So I go to the Apps menu (in Gingerbread there was an option to free space by moving to the SD: this option was in the Storage menu, if I recall correctly, but I couldn't find it here so I went to the Apps).
Literally, as I am looking at the apps the Internal storage starts growing till 45MB (took a few seconds). Why is that?
Also, all apps except ROM manager are in the internal storage. Clicking on each app shows a button to move to SD, but such button is grayed out on every app. Now, I know some app cannot be moved to SD, but I do know that Whatsapp can: do you know why I can't move any of them to the SD?
Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions: it is the first time I install a custom ROM and I never used Jelly Bean before ...

The increasing app space is just regular lag in calculating remaining space.
And WhatsApp can't be moved for me too. If you're sure that it can be, maybe there's a setting like in CM7 to force move all apps to SD card, thus making the button usable.

Nice review. From my own experience with JK 2.0 I can add two aspects:
1. GPS: Fixing GPS takes several minutes for me. Changing the NTP Server using FasterFix did not really help in my case. However, using the gps.conf from this thread fixed the issue for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447593 (Google Specific v3.1 build)
2. To change a picture in the gallery, I have to slide almost over the complete screen which is not too bad, but really annoying. I haven't find a way to change that behaviour yet.

About the 2nd problem, its due to the heavy scrolling in jb. No idea how to fix tho.

I can confirm that voice recognition isn't working.
And another thing, although the question may be a little misplaced here: Can I get (open-) PDroid running on JK? Or is the patch even already included in the rom?
Oops, forgot to mention that GNow voice search doesn't work. OP updated.
Although its not a ROM bug, since the voice search In Now is an ARMv7 feature. So it will never work / almost never work.

I've been using this for quite some time, and some very annoying bugs persist even after several reflashes (and I've switched quite a few ROMs, so I'm sure I'm doing it right).
For instance, the random reboots, which seem to choose to happen right when I need them not to.
And the data thing is also a big issue. If you stop using it for an hour or more (not sure how long) it just stops and you have to switch to airplane mode and back. Not that I'm too lazy to do that, but it stops apps like Facebook from getting live updates.
It's faster than other ROMs though, and the slow scrolling thing is fixed (kind of), which is cool, but it's just too unstable and I'm going back to either CM7 or Sense and soon as I have the time to.
As good a place as any to post this.
Pio-masaki.com is being shut down due to a Cease and Desist order sent against the host by Google and homeland security. I have no idea why, however until this is sorted out, and to avoid any possible or further legal issues, the site is down for a period of time that can be a day or forever. This includes any and all ROMs, kernels, gapps packages, for any and all devices, that were hosted on pio-masaki.com.
I apologize in advance for this as I know some ROMs are only available at pio-masaki.com, but it is out of my hands, the host has to consider their own safety, and has my 100% agreement and backing in taking down the site until the matter is resolved.
As this is a very large matter, and one that has us incredibly scared, I'm retreating from android for the time being, until I know what it was that I did that was illegal, and may return once this is cleared up and blows over.
After this is cleared up the hosting for pio-masaki.com may still remain offline as the hoster has some personal issues with me at this point and may or may not continue to host for me, should we resolve our differences it may return.
If by some chance Google or whoever sent the C&D notices this, I urge you to contact me as I was responsible for what was hosted, and would genuinely like to know what the issues are so we can get them resolved immediately.
I will be making similar postings or editings to any other ROM threads that link to pio-masaki.com.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. 1.6 is a pretty big update for us! Check out the changelog on our goo.im page for more, but here are the highlights:
-PIE
-HALO
-Floating Application windows (long press app in recent apps list)
-Lock screen rotation is back
-Dark Carbon! Huge props to Slim Roms for coming up with this unique and awesome feature.
-Lockscreen theming
-CM skinny battery is back!
-Volume key lock on silent mode option
-Backup tool - if you're flashing a new version of Carbon and already have the required version of gapps installed, it will be backed up and restored during install. This applies to system apps and custom host files as well. Please note that you should only dirty flash from Carbon to Carbon. It's ok if it's another version or a nightly - just not over other roms. Super handy for you crack flashers. Make sure you've got the most recent Gapps though, and if you're flashing from a factory reset, you'll still need to install it after install of course.
-Long pressing the "clear recents" button clears the cache
-AOKP's awesome new navbar settings
-NFC polling mode for when you want to keep your screen off and scan tags
-MMS and call "breathe" feature. Makes the notification icon fade in and out.
-Mute dings when changing volume
-Disable/enable CRT effect on screen on/off.
-3rd party keyboard bug fixed
-deodexed again
-stability and speed enhancements
-a million other little things as well - we basically don't even sleep anymore.
*not all features are available on the A100 tablet.

FAQS
If you didn't read the bugs list below, go down and read that now, asking the same questions over and over is a trademark of xda and I hate it, please read the change log and bug list before posting questions or reporting issues.
Q. I want to use this build(s) as a base for my ROM, or I want to host/re release it in another country/forum, can I?
A. You may, but only if you send me a PM about it first. I've had a bit of trouble with people taking credit for my work, and I'm getting sick of it. I don't mind sharing and whatnot, but taking my build, adding a build.prop tweak and releasing it on another forum with no mention of my name is not acceptable. As for re releasing on another forum, you may if you just shoot me a link to the post about it, I would rather you link directly to this thread if possible. For those posting in forums of other languages (I know some users might in Russia, for example, use my ROMs) feel free to post for your native languages, and please include a link here also.
Q. I want to report an issue, can I just post it in your thread without reading or doing any basic troubleshooting, googling, reading or wiping?
A. Well you CAN, you may be ignored or flamed for it. Please read above, and please read the Bugs and Change Log lists before reporting anything. Please flash a clean download, flash a clean wipe, and don't restore stuff from TiBu, thats basic troubleshooting, check if the issue persists, if it does, then feel free to post about it.
Q. Is this daily driver ready?
A. Can't answer that, what a person needs from their phone varies from person to person, what I may consider fine for my use may be 500 kinds of broken for another user. Example, I don't use my camera often, maybe once a month, and my BT has never been turned on for the last 5 devices, for me broken BT audio and camera doesn't make it a non daily driver ROM. Please read and decide for yourself if features included outweigh the broken, or if broken things are required for your comfortable use of your device.
Q. How can I build my own versions?
A. I'm not going to write a guide, I did write one for CM9 which is 99.99% still a working guide aside from source urls for updated jellybean. Otherwise there are plenty of very well written guides on how to build ROMs, individual questions about build it can be asked here if you wish as this is a development thread.
Q. Can I use -insert kernel name here-?
A. You can probably use any kernel you want, but WiFi and such won't work. If you don't mind no WiFi feel free to use any kernel that will boot.
Q. Your files all download as index.php!
A. This happens on certain browsers, namely the stock browser and Chrome. You can either use another browser (naked and dolphin don't do this) or simply rename the file to something useful, like "piostotallyepicawesomesaucedrizzledromthatrocksyo urass.zip"
Bugs:
MIC doesn't work
Camera crashes when you change resolutions
WiFi may not connect after being turned off, needing a reboot to come back up
Google Search doesn't work (no MIC)
Headset MIC also doesn't work
ROM may get stuck booting, powering off and on will have it boot again, not sure where this is coming from.
More, I'm sure.

WHOA BUNDY! This ROM is amazing! Finally some 4.2.2 action on the A100. Thanks!
This looks very interesting indeed. Without MIC support it can't be my daily as I Skype alot, but a working 4.2.2 on this old tablet is amazing in itself! Great work as always Pio.

Actually, try a headset, or plug then unplug headphones, it works on the thrive for audio to get working properly, may work here too, they use the same audio system, drivers and libs.
Well I didn't have time to play much last night but have had a proper look around the ROM today.
4.2.2 on A100 is FAST!! Very impressive. I noticed some issues so thought it might be helpful to catalogue them here.
MIC is definitely not working. Tried the headphone thing but nothing Voice Search force closes on launch and Recorder can't hear anything.
The Halo app (which I gather is one of the big draws in this ROM) force closes when you select it. Oddly, it's like it might be corrupted or something as the icon is showing as just a little droid and the app title is showing as HALO))).
Changing the camera resolution causes the camera to FC (front or rear camera) ... Afterwards a dialog box tells you that it "Can't connect to the camera". This was a problem in the older 4.1.2 ROMs as well but I believe Hardslog discovered a fix somehow so I am sure he will be able to give you the info.
If there is anything else I come across during my exploring I will let you know. I'm enjoying having new things to play with!

There's two parts of Halo))), the part you're talking about, doesn't matter unless you want a specific app always to be in Halo, otherwise HALO itself works just fine. The app itself isn't required or the "big draw" to the ROM, HALO can be managed just fine without it, and originally the app wasn't included, I hadn't noticed it was included now anyways lol
The camera issues are partly due to we're using camera parts from 5 versions of android ago, I'm sure it can be patched up again but it's getting annoying having to fix storage, audio, cameras, and kernels EVERY SINGLE MINOR UPDATE to android. We're not talking 4.1 to 5.0, its 4.1 to 4.2.
AFAIK it wasn't reported my 4.1.2 builds ever had camera issues, though. Keep in mind I was doing that blind, if no one told me I would never have known.
Google search doesn't force close for me, but it also doesn't hear anything, so that doesn't count for much lol

Does that mean I can safely remove the HALO))) apk without affecting the functionality of Halo itself?
I reported the camera res change issues quite awhile ago to hardslog, though I think at that point you had stopped development on the A100. I remember him saying he would look into a fix and I think awhile after he cured it. Can't remember if he listed on here what the actual cause of the problem is though.
This potential to customize how this ROM behaves is absolutely incredible. I spent the last couple of hours messing about with swipe bars and pop up menus and the various combinations possible... it really is clever stuff. Was rather confusing to figure out what is what at first. I've still not found a way to change the button size on the pie... any additional buttons added get squashed up at one end of it. Is there anywhere in the menu where this can be altered? Also, directly surrounding the pie buttons there is a thick bar which is partially blue... looks like a volume slider or something but I can't seem to get it to do anything??
All in all a very interesting ROM thank you Pio. Given that it is early days on 4.2.2 for the A100, do you think there is any chance that the MIC will be fixable in the future? Does it work ok on your Thrive?

Well as I said unless it was reported (to me) I wouldn't have known. Hardslog wasn't reporting issues or fixes to me so I never knew it happened or how it was fixed.
The mic should be fixable, and yes it works on the thrive, so its likely a minor routing issue on the vangogh vs Antares or Picasso boards. Sound is my weakest point though, I always have troubles with it for some reason.
As for pie, there's options for all kinda shiz in there, just gotta go through them all and restart systemui to make them active in some cases. That bar is, I think, just decoration, though.
Sad thing is I don't really use the camera features on the A100 so that's probably why I never tested them when going thru stuff on the recent CM10 builds. But yes I am getting the same issues MrCubbins has reported with changing resolutions FCing the camera app on this current CarbonROM build.
The only thing I am hoping for down the road is some kind of updated version Linuxsociety's Jelly Bean kernel that works on 4.2.2. I'm pretty sure the current build will not work on 4.2.2 ROMs due to there being enough differences between 4.1.x and 4.2.2. Love how that kernel worked in making things run just a bit smoother. :good:

I'm just curious why anyone
A: uses the crappy camera on these things for anything but Skype
B: bothers changing the resolution of the already low resolution cameras
The kernel included is already modified just hasn't had the juice turned on yet. I'm not a fan of his kernel for my personal device, it never got along with it. If you venture into its settings you'll notice it has some extras in governors and io, no longer stock CM.
Yeah I'm not really much of a fan of cams on tablets myself. Yet I've seen people using their tablets for taking pictures so what do I (and you) know, right?
I wasn't aware of what was going on with the kernel that you have in use. The Linuxsociety kernel or at least the one that was in hardslog's ROMs ran very well on mine. That's using Linuxsociety's kernel with mods done wasn't it? Then again we all know that you probably can have two A100's next to each other one will run the kernel perfectly yet the other one will have issues with it... so yeah.

I think he used ezterrys kernel, why he chose to over the godmachine kernel you'll need to ask him about lol. It was a nice kernel for sure, but my a100 just didn't like it. My thrive kernels love mine but hate some others, such is electronics I guess.
I'm still testing the kernel for when the juice is turned on so its a pretty basic kernel otherwise, bit it should wake up real nice when its let loose.
Looking over the notes from several of hardslog's ROMs he's mentioned they have used godmachine kernels (or as I mistakenly called them "Linuxsociety"). No idea on the latest ROM that he's released since there's no mention. Let me know if you need to me to test any kernels here. My A100 is ready.
Well the kernel has some odd issues, for one lulzactive seems to just stay at top speed, it doesn't seem to scale at all. In the overclock enabled builds anychanges to min/max speeds will result in no deep sleep, the kernel stays awake at all times. Not sure whats causing either of those, lulzactive can be gone over but why the speed change locks the system awake I have no clue.
I really wish I knew what I was doing with kernels lol
Edit:
Vote, who thinks I should just update the linux society/god machine kernel to 4.2 and leave it at that? lol
I was totally not aware about the deep sleep issue since I normally turn the tablet off when it's not in use. Does the ezterry kernel have the same issue? If not then maybe updating that to 4.2 might be better in the long run. As far as scaling I never seemed to have the issue at least from what SetCPU shows me. I'm about to go to my CYANOSAKI_FLEX_V2.0 backup and will let you know what I'm seeing as that I believe is using a godmachine kernel.
Also just noticed something weird. When I tried to backup the current CarbonROM build using TWRP 2.6.0.0 it shows 0MB in cache is used. Could there be something wrong with the routing/paths/etc on cache use on CarbonROM?

The deep sleep issues are only on the overclock enabled kernel that I use, it shouldn't appear in the released build, it only shows up if min/max speeds are changed from stock. Scaling issues appear only in lulzactive, its defaulted to interactive so unless you change it, its scaling properly.
I'm not using the ezterry or god machine kernels, so its a problem unique to mine I think.
It uses cache or it wouldn't be booting at all, and you shouldn't back that up anyways I think twrp has some bugs no one ironed out and its causing oddness with older devices.
Oops. I thought you meant godmachine's kernel had those issues. My bad. I should read better next time.
Also checking CYANOSAKI_FLEX_V2.0 the kernel it's using believe it or not is by ezterry. SetCPU defaults to interactive on this for me as well running at 1.5 ghz max speed, 312 mhz minimum. No idea if hardslog has done any mods/changes to the kernel however. Run perfectly fine on my A100. :good:
And you are right about cache let alone the TWRP bug. Just finished wiping and restoring my CarbonROM backup by the way. Successful swapping from 4.2.2 to 4.1.2 and back via TWRP backups.
Ugh I hate kernels, and I hate working IN them even more. But, it's coming along. It'll basically be the GM kernel all over again when I'm done lol.
So far vs the source I began with:
GPU/CPU/system speeds are tuned a little more, voltages tuned a little more
Adding in those missing governors, like Smartass and lagfree.
Converted/updated to BCMDHD from BCM4329
OC up to 1.5, UC to 216
I'm building this to include with my 4.2 builds, and I suppose I could just release a flashable version, it may even work on 4.1, who knows.
