[Q] problem 3dot fix remapping long press recent apps to recent apps? - HTC One X

Hello every one
i wanted to remove the 3dot menu button ,
so i did as written here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27048426&postcount=549
(special thanks to the author )
now i have the recent apps key remapped to setting(menu) and the 3dot menu removed, but no recent apps key
i was wondering if there is a way (the more simple , the better!) to map long press recent apps button to recent apps that works everywhere ?
(on both sense and go launcher for example)
+
is it possible to do something like this to home button for switching between launchers?
what i am looking for summarized :
- 3dot menu removed - done
- recent apps button press => setting(menu) - done
- recent apps button long press => recent apps
- home button press => home (as it already is)
and optionally
- home button long press => a mechanism to switch between launchers !
my phone is htc one X international, (stock) unlocked bootloader and rooted and nothing else , version 1.29.415.11
P.S. if its not possible to use long press recent apps , how can i use long press home as recents apps switcher?

--------taken from another post (I'm too lazy to type)---------
you have to make sure to follow the sequence correctly and keep all of them pressed fo 5-10 secs
> Press power putton
> Then press Record Button
> Then Press Camera Button
> Then with Stylus press Reset Button
After this you will see 3 options.
1 Kit = YES ------------------ change this to NO
2 Register Hive= No --------------- should remain NO
3 Storage = No --------------------- change this to YES
*Use the Recorder Button to Scroll.
Use the Camera Button to change values.
*To Save changes press the Navigational Button.

which one ?
This one:
> Press power putton (don't let go)
+ press Record Button (don't let go)
+ Press Camera Button (don't let go)
+ with Stylus, press Reset Button (you may want to hold it a bit until you see the menu I'm referring to on my post above)

[Q] Custom Button Action / Recent Apps Display

Is there a custom ROM or tweak etc that will give me the following:
Button - Short Press Action / Long Press Action
Back - Back / Force Close Current App
Home - Home / Menu
Recent Apps - Recent Apps* / Search
*This is the one that seems to not work on custom button tweaks I've tried.
Also I would like the same behaviour for recent apps as stock 2.17 where it slides the previous app used into centre automatically which makes switching between 2 apps a doddle. The ROM I've tried doesn't and always shows the current app in the centre.

[Q] Home Key wrong Mapping problem

I have got my Note II rooted and flashed the Android Revolution HD Rom.
Everything was fine and it worked smoothly.
But after installation of many apps, a problem turned out yesterday:
The menu button function has been mapped to the home button, which means when I pressed the home button, it will detected as menu button instead.
After that, I use the KEY TEST in the CWM Recovery to test the key setting.
I found that the home button is wrongly detected as the menu key. (It returns the same Code 139 when I pressed the two buttons)
the result shown as attached
How can I fixed this problem by reset the hard key map setting?
Please Help
Thanks so much!

[Q] How to remap recent apps button to make it a menu button

Before updating to lollipop, Nova launcher would allow me to remap the button to be a menu button instead of recent apps. It no longer does this and it is killing me...I am so used to it the other way! Is there a way to do this on lollipop?
Have you tried long pressing recent button that is how you can get the menu to pop up its been that way since kk

Thank you for the response... Even on kitkat when you use Nova launcher it allows you to make the soft key open settings instead of recent apps. With lollipop it no longer works like that.
Dunno which keys were for recent apps but here's a guide to get to it.
Use a root explorer.
Go to
/system/usr/keylayout.
Backup file Generic.kl ( copy it as a .bk or something )
Then find the word RECENT_APPS linking with the code number, change RECENT_APPS to MENU.
I don't know how to change long press home as Recent apps though, I tried finding the key but all "SEARCH" keys were something else entirely when I changed to RECENT_APPS, didn't work on touchwiz.

I followed your advice and all i can got was my new brand Doogee x30 (Nougat) being bricked! I restored the Generic.kl and nothing!-All buttons were unresponsive except the touchscreen. I lost all my data and the only solution was to flash the stock rom. Thank you very much!
