Hi all, i'm new to this windows phone stuff, just want to know is it possible to charge the phone will it is switch off? as my lumia 900 keeps booting up when i try to charge the phone while it is shutdown
Yes its possible. When the battery is critical low you can charge it while powered off. For a while
Can't remember if it automatically powers on once it reaches a certain level.

Since a few weeks, my phone takes a very long time to charge (like +10% every hour), when I watch tv or a movie on it while it's plugged in it even tells me that the phone is using more battery than it can charge (sorry for the french-> english).
Every morning I find it turned off, I plug it no led lites, after a while the led starts blinking and after 30minutes approximately it finally turns red and I can turn it on.
I'm using Revolution HD rom, but I assume it might be a hardware issue rather than software.
Does anyone ever encountered this issue ?
Do you use usb charging from pc? Disable any data connection, gps and close some apps. That should work!

Today I used usb charging inded (but usually I use regular charger), I disabled everything I could, plug it at 9am, it's now 5pm and it's finally 100%
The good thing is that it seems to normally drains battery.
I just used battery callibrator, I'll let it empty and then charge it anew to see if there is any change.

Using another charger might help to!
I have bought a htc one X a day ago, which was imported from some eastern country. The phone ran well for an hour or something.. and after that, it just dropped dead. The battery was about 60% when it dropped dead. And when I charge, the red light keeps on blinking. It won't turn on, or the red light will not be stable.
When i try to boot into bootloader, the phone does go into bootlader. But I have to keep my charging plug on. If i remove even for a second. the phones switches off again.
I can't go to warranty as this is a replacement. Some guidence will be appreciated. Thank you.

1. Charge the device for at least 10 minutes
2. With the device truly OFF (NOT ON STANDBY) , push in and hold volume up and volume down AND power button And HOLD for 2 minutes and let go once 2 Minutes has passed.
Doing this will calibrate the Circuit within the battery charging system.

If the phone doesn't power on & If the red led doesn't turn on while charging your phone then you should take it to service centre.. Might be a problem in battery or the motherboard
There is a batch file running about that helps charge from boot loader.
On phone so can't find it currently.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I'm currently in this situation myself. I read the thread suggested here, but it helps very little if you can't even get to fastboot. For what it's worth, I do have a custom recovery, but a stock image. And the mother board is okay - I've swapped in a different battery and that seems to work, but I do want to get my original battery to work...
guys i have a solution i guess .. put your phone connected to laptop or computer for several minutes dont remove . it might take sometime and afterwards you will listen the usb connecting voice and the blinking will stop and will be stable and then you can turn on the mobile
If you have a flashing power light
This is when your device has overheated and wont let you start up your OS.
Plug your phone in for afew minutes then hold down the power, volume up and down buttons at the same time untill a white developers screen comes up, disconnected your device from cable and click on recover and leave for a minute then plug you power lead back in and leave again. When you come back to you phone it the LED should be a solid color and you can then boot your device.
Any problems Message me, any time.
Thanks

And then?
After doing reset\calibration of battery circuit we put phone on the wall charger and wait until green LED.
Right?
Edit: wrong section, sorry
In most cases, must to change the cable or adapter, or both. I had the same problem twice.
Hello Friends,
I have a year Xperia Ion phone. Recently I have got a problem with the battery of this phone.
A week back the battery status was never going below 100% but will shut off after certain amount of usage. I did not bother as I was able to use the phone normally but only the battery status was a problem. However the problem got more serious. Here is what happened and what I tried:
- A day back phone got switched off and the battery was never going above 1% upon restart, even when it was on charging
- I tried hard restart (holding volume up button + power button). After this it was showing increase in percentage when plugged in for charge and reached 100%. I thought the problem is resolved but not.
- Everytime I unplug phone from charging, battery drops down to 1% immediately and shuts off
- I did service test (by dialing some long numbers) of the phone and it says battery is good and no need to replace it. I assumed there is not hardware issue.
- I had no otherway but to try out battery calibration after rooting- I rooted my device, used 'Battery calibration' app. Charged up till it says 100% and did the calibration. It showed calibration success. I unplugged it from the charger again just to find that the same issue again.
I really do not know what to try now. My phone is just out of warranty (I bought this in another country during a visit). I am ready take paid service if that would solve, but I really appreciate a promising solution or suggestion for this issue.
This phone means a lot for some reason. Thanks in advance for your helpful thoughts!
Note: I found a similar thread where they talked about replacing battery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450884 I am not sure if this is the same case as that of mine. If so how to replace the built-in battery for Ion.

Every time I plug it in charge only after it goes off and then I turn on. Do you suggest to charge it to 100% while the phone remains in off state?

This is the only forums that I know where to ask about my phone. lol. My Smartphone's battery is currently 0% right now. I plugged in the charger and it just vibrates sometimes it will turn on then when it's on the lockscreen it will say that you're on low battery I've removed the charger then I put it back in it will say that it's charging then it suddenly goes turn off. I'm on stock btw.

Are you using stock charger to charge online? there might be one more possibility that battery might not be pinned properly to the phone.

yes i am using stock charger , and i tried several times battery is pinned properly .. it all started because the computer guy made wrong usb connections on my computers motherboard .. i connected to transfer my photos and it suddenly died. on connecting to computer via usb it charges sometimes ..but then restarting it results in mega drop in battery level and then it wont charge.
Just wanted to know that if this is a hardware issue or a software issue. would flashing a ftf solve the issue ?

K i personally think that there is a problem with the battery. once the battery is connected to wrong polarity it generally get ****ed up but i see that it charges properly with the battery charger. if the charge is retained normally there is definitely no problem in battery. It will be the PIN . But not harm in trying to reset through PCC or flashing FTF.

ok i will check one thing tonight .. am gonna charge the battery and leave it over night .. if charge retains and acts normal i guess pin and everything else has to be fine .. then the only thing fishy would be when connecting a charger...

Yea it does. Get back to stock charge your battery use the phone. if the battery drains normally. There is no problem with battery. The problem is with pin configuration of the phone.
