That's a really tough one. i really like the EVO LTE but i love my E4GT alot more. i honestly dont care for the gs3 much, but i havent played with it like i have the evo. i would deff stick with the gs2 but its all in personal preference. There all really good choices so either way your getting a sweet phone.
two great phone to choose from a friend has the evo lte and its fast I like my e4gt but I think i would recommend the evo lte just because your going to be with it two yrs. on contract maybe Pittsburg gets lte in the mean time.
And don't forget the insurance this time.

It is a close match but I don't regret not waiting for the EVO 4g LTE. I am very happy with the Epic 4g Touch
EVO 4G LTE. The only downside to that phone, IMO, is the locked bootloader. It's also almost future-proof with the LTE chip inside.
Does anyone know when Pittsburgh is up for lte?

I would agree with this especially if you have any type of spare phone you can use in the meantime. If not I know how hard it is without a phone so if ya cant wait go for the evo. I was at the sprint store the other day playing with it, and it really is a nice phone plus it has beats audio and a very good build quality.
I couldnt see buying a 4g phone when there are 4g LTE phones available. I just "bought up" in my Sprint contract to purchase either the S3 or the Evo LTE. Current plan is to sell my S2 and wait for the S3 to come out so that I can take her for a spin before I sign another 2 year...
As somebody else mentioned, either way she is getting a nice device.
I love every aspect of the EPIC 4G touch, but if I lived where 4Glte would be, I would snag up the Evo. I'm happy with my 3G speeds and bad ass hardware.
Good luck.

I have the EvoLTE and my wife is getting the SG3.. of course it hasn't even came to the house yet and she already wants to switch with me because of the physical camera button at the top.. Either way IDC.. I'm a big Sammy guy anyways.. But according to the reviews here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6022/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review-att-and-tmobile-usa-variants/3 your wife might just have the better phone.. I know the scores were pushed mostly bc the UI. But maybe that extra gig of ram might be to much wiggle room for the s4 and is causing the scores to drop a few points in these benchmarks.. Of course the multitasking should be better..

The 2 best looking phones there IMO is the evolution 3d and the epic touch the evo design my cousin and her boyfriend have and they have lot of problems. But if I had to pick I would wait a little longer because the galaxy nexus is coming to sprint if you look on their main page

If it had to be a now thing.. can't go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S ll, Epic 4G Touch. However... I am in the same boat (new phone time!), but I am waiting to see what they announce this quarter and the future of LTE.
Dallas, Atlanta, Houston and San Antonio are slated to be the first to go LTE, so if you are in those areas it might behoove you to see what comes out. Right now the Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper are upcoming LTE phones.
I'm leaning toward the Epic 4G Touch as LTE means nothing to me. My area doesn't even have WiMAX (now it never will). And from what I read, the E4GT will get official ICS Q1 2012 anyway. That right there pretty much evens the playing field between the two phones.
Still interested in hearing your opinions though.
Levels the playing field?
What about the fact that Gnex is pure Google without the ugly Twiz UI? And will get regular updates thru Google ?

Is that "feature" alone enough to justify a probable $100 price premium for the Gnex vs E4GT? For me, it's not.

My only complaint is pentile display but its no biggie any more.

Picking up a Galaxy Nexus tomorrow at the store =]
I don't see the point. It is inferior hardware-wise to the SII, and by the time LTE is in full swing here in KC, the SIII will be available. And since I already have ICS on my SII, it just seems silly to me.
Does this one actually have the NFC chip? I was a little bummed the SGS2 couldn't use google beam or wallet.

I love the design of the Nexus and the specs are pretty good, almost equal to the E4GT, but what I dont like is the high price for "less" phone. The ice cream sandwhich that comes with the phone is great as well but could do with a little less flash and a little bit more efficiency in terms of smoothness and battery life. I still want one though because i dont like the physical buttons on my phone.

I probably forgot some other high end Sprint phones but I had those too. The GNex will be chic of the Month till the S3 is released. Then this phone will serve as an excellent back up..

Speaker is not low but kinda wish it came with two like the 4s. Comes with 4.0.4 update out the box. Screen is crazy nice. The one thing that irks me is that I'm having problems with Exchange. Doesn't sync with my work email. Gonna have to do some research on that issue. Also come with $10 in Google Wallet. Won't get the other 40-50 Google money from Sprint for a couple of weeks. Google beam can be used with any other android phone with an NFC chip. You can sent contacts, files, directions to a location quicker and more efficiently than bump or over bluetooth. Google wallet is still in beta so it can't be found at a lot of places, but on a few business trips to California I have seen some stores that will accept it. It sounds awesome though completely itemizes all your receipts and sync's them to you g-mail account. I was just upset when my girl friends nexus s had the technology when my brand new SGS2 didn't (sprint removed them all other variations on other carriers had this technology). I guess we found out why they removed the NFC chip, to entice people to upgrade to the Nexus

Father's Day is coming, so is the S3 and Evo LTE. My contract expired in April and I'm eligible for an upgrade. So my wife asked me, do you want me to gift you the S3...
I am perfectly happy with the S2 and beside the NFC of S3 I'm not too thrilled. The question is: (a) get the S3 or wait for something special might pop up around Christmas time?
I would get the s3. Even just to play around with on wifi if you want to use your e4gt still. I plan to do this, as I get (ok) wimaxx but am not anywhere near any of the first roll out areas for lte. Just my suggestion. This phone is great, but I want to play with that new too lol. If you are near lte tho then it is no question. S3 imo.

It's the next "big thing" so I would get it unless you are considering the iPhone 5. You could always get it and sell it on Craigslist for like $600 and keep your S2.
I don't know, the ET4g and sprint in general have left a bad taste in my mouth with radio issues... I'm thinking my next phone will be a HTC or maybe a moto.

My strategy is, IF I get the s3 (kinda doubtful), the decision that would make the most sense, would be to WAIT until LTE is fully deployed and active in your area. If not, you will be stuck on 3g for quite a while until it happens, whenever that might be. Don't be in a rush. I know how hard that is to practice when you're a xda kind of person, but that makes the most sense to me on many areas. So many people are very frustrated with 3g performance lately, it wouldn't be logical to force yourself into that mode for god knows how long. For me, the deal breaker is the camera with the not such a big deal improvements done to it. Yes, faster camera is better but no substantial improvements with low light, better f stop, I will pass. When I had it, I loved the iPhone 4s camera, but the cons outweighed the pros IMO. Even if you have to wait up to another year for LTE, the s4 might be around then and I would hope that one would be a lot better than the 3. With my experiences with a couple of htcs, they are too temperature sensative and prone to hardware failure issues when compared to all the samsungs I've owned. I'm not a Samsung fan either, I've just had much less problems with them and they're much easier to do custom things to like rooting and roms.
Besides, you said it yourself, you're happy with what you have already. Also, pentile s3 screen, eww.
Well if you know you want that phone get it asap so your new contract starts being used asap.... Means new upgrade sooner down the road. I just got mine in October or whenever the iphone came out. Personally the s3 and the galaxy nexus are the only two phones that I would consider over the et4g. As you can tell I am alittle partial to Samsung as all my previous phones who weren't Samsung I've had problems with excluding the HTC sensation

As of right now my opinion is this. The phone is solid. The corners are kind of harsh. The hardware is fantastic. Surprisingly from what I have heard in the past on LG the ui is pretty good.
At the moment it has the best specs on Sprint period.
Now, when our comes to development, we will have to wait and see. It is the 4th highest selling Android oem on the 3rd largest provider. From that it is easy to say the S3 on At&t gets more attention. This will also never get the following of the Nexus. But, it does have development.
I would get it. You can also wait for the Flossy seal of approval if you like.

Just bought this beast an hour ago, already rooted and transferring my stuff from my Epic 4G. I compared the LG Mach because I didn't want to give up my physical keyboard ( :crying: ) but in the end the dual-core vs. quad-core was no comparison! Plus, $99 at Best Buy was a steal (Sprint store wouldn't price match).
Like going from a Yugo to a Ferrari!
Switched from AT&T and the Motorola Atrix 4G to Sprint and the LG Optimus G and so far, I haven't regretted switching from AT&T to Sprint and from the Motorola Atrix 4G to the LG Optimus G. Can't wait for JellyBean on this phone. Decided to switch to Sprint since Sprint is the only carrier that now offers truly unlimited data.
Just nabbed the last one today @ BB for $99! Loving it so far. Was originally gonna get the Note 2 but the price won't drop. I couldn't resist this deal. Looking forward to the ROMS!
Got this phone yesterday, traded my s3 for it. Loving it so far, since I've hated the S3 as soon as I got it. Evo LTE was nice too had it for 2 months but the 1gb of RAM was killing me with Sense.
Haven't tinkered with it yet but thinking of just stock rooting just for getting rid of the Ads.
