so basically after wasting about an hour im nowhere.. uploaded my first few pictures from my phone and the quality is horrible. is there any way to upload in high resolution?
Try using the email function. I think that worked for me. You can get Facebook to set up an email address for you to email the photos to. I think this will upload them full resolution. Other than that, I'm not sure about any app which may do the same, never really messed with it, but it would be good to know.
i didnt know that function existed? does seem a little slow though.. isnt there an application? what about batch uploading?

Like I said, I'm not sure about any third party applications that may be better at uploading high resolution, I hadn't looked at that before. I know you can send multiple pictures per email though. I found it to be one of the faster ways to upload a batch of files actually.
I haven't used it for a while (mainly cos I'm bored of FB so never go on there) but Friendcaster used to be great for uploading Hi-Res photos. There's a free and a pro version, I had pro and it was much better than both official FB app and the inbuilt Sense FB app

i just uploaded some using gallery and facebook for htc sense
when i look at the images on facebook website, they easily fill my 27" imac at great quality. have you tried that, rather than the facebook app itself?
Try uploading/sharing them using Facebook For HTC Sense....It works great..!!

im using a miui rom.. that makes me want to go back to sense so bad! but for now ill try friendcaster
Twitter for HTC Sense
Twitter for HTC Sense doesnt work like Facebook for HTC Sense.
I just took a pic on my One X and uploaded it on both T/FB with their respective apps. Facebook one's a high quality image but Twitter one's not.

Anyone who has flashed their phone to the leaked version of 2.2 with sense should have hi res Facebook contact pic as well as auto sync. So no need to sign in and out of the Facebook app to refresh the contact pics.

Did notice that the other day
hmm im dont think so, the thumbnails are hi res yes, but the pics that come up when somebody rings you they re still pixelated, seems like they're using the thumbnails as source and then just making them bigger makes them bad quality
unless its just me lol
I can't even get my contacts to sync using facebook on MCR r5.
where's the leaked one?? does this not require root ??
Thanks
It's the open desire rom with sense. It requires root.
My images are not blurred when you call someone either.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Using Leedroid - still pixelated when calling or receiving a call - most likely still due to using google contacts & the res limit on that.
When you sync your contacts to your Gmail account, and sync them back down, does ICS still replace your high res contact photos with ugly pixilation of the same image like former versions of Android?

Yes, unfortunately it does.
Thank you for your answer. Wish it has been different.

We suffered from the pixel contacts pics synced from Gmail for a really long time, and Google staff has promised the solution was undergoing. How is that with Jelly Bean? Hope the HD pics could match the resolution of the screen on Galaxy Nexus this time.

Don't think so, as when I flashed Jellybean they were all pixelated. Although when I redo the contact pictures with the originals they end up as the native screen res, so they look much better than ICS, which looked a tad fuzzy even after setting them up fresh
Also it could have pulled the contacts automatically from the SIM card, as I don't usually use the gmail restore feature. I just know all my contacts were there after booting the first time.
Much improved.

yes, as been solved, now the max resolution is 720x720, in Ics was 256x256
100% better. I told haxsync to resync all pics again and they came in high res.

Did you expect JB to magically restore information from contact pictures that were previously uploaded and re-sized? I would expect the results that you saw.

Exactly.
I actually updated some contacts to high res, and then wiped my phone for other reasons and put JB back on, and the high res pics were saved. Looks like the problem is finally solved.

Do you mean that we should update the present pics in Gmail to HD, then wipe the phone and sync them back?
I've resynced my pix.. but no luck :[

Not sure if that will work or not, but that's not what I did. Rather, I updated my contact pics to high res ones in my people app on my phone in JB. When I later did a full wipe on my phone and put JB back on, my phone pulled the high res photos from Google instead of crappy grainy ones like it used to do.

My question is ... I use haxsync to do all this but those photos are never saved in my gmail (gmail still uses old photos from my original desire ). How to do it ? I have the grainy photos because of the HTC sense Facebook sync but cant do it anymore ...

I Just uploaded a new contact photo via Gmail/Contacts, let it sync to the phone and the resolution is just as crap as previous before JB ?
still having issues myself.
however i did see that the 720x720 pics were supported but i cannot get them to work for some reason.
on my PC, i got a nice High Res pic of my wife, got it all cropped to my liking, and let it syn over to the phone and it is still crappy resolution.
i have "HD contacts" from the market and this seems to work pretty good, but it takes forever to set everything up on the phone.
So when I get jb on here and I resync my contacts with haxsync or Facebook, the images shouldn't be blurry anymore? Or is this only with images manually saved to contacts?

Maybe the gmail/contacts web upload hasn't be updated and still resizes the image.

That was my experience...if I set the contact pictures from JB Contacts, it worked fine. If I set the contact pictures from Gmail Contacts over the web, they were resized/"pixilated".
To all folks, if you're using JB on your phone, remember it's still a preview...don't panic if not all parts of the experience are perfect yet!

I am having an issue
Hey Guys,
I flashed JB on my GNEX LTE and since then I have not been able to add my pictures to my contacts. Everytime I try to edit a contact picture and save it there is a small message that says the contact could not be saved. I checked all the setting as far as syncing google contacts and it's all enabled. Please help.

Did you allow Google to restore apps and settings after the wipe? I usually want to start fresh but it would be a shame if all the pics are lost in that case.
Hey!
I'm searching for the people apk which was a standard app in HTC sense. I'm running cyanagen mod now and I only have the normal contacts app.
The thing is, the people app from sense could connect the same contacts from different sources. Let's say I have a contact John as a phone, and Facebook and twitter contact. It would sync these and put them as on contact in the list. This is a function I really need..
Does anyone have the apk for it? Or a recommendation for an app that does pretty much the same
Thanx!

i dont think u'll be able to use htc sense people app while running AOSP (or any non-sense rom) because of the framework... dont know bout a third party app, but probably just searching on the play store should show something up

Thank you for replying!
I did search in the play store, but it didn't show anything in that sort. Do you know why it can't play on a AOSP? is it because of the source code? i thought it's just an apk like any other app..
The two main apps that I have heard of are Smartr Contacts (from Xobni) and Contacts + (Contapps) both free on the play store.
Smartr Contacts https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xobni.contacts&hl=en
Contacts + https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.contapps.android&hl=en
Check them out, if you find a better one post back and let me know.
Much of the sense framework is different than aosp, cm, aokp, touchwiz, etc. sense apk's need the framework of sense roms to run on a different platform. There are all sorts of apps that people have made that look and act like sense that will work in other roms, I have just never seen the people one, but if you look around you may get lucky. But I have heard that there has been some people able to get some sense apps working just fine on aosp based roms, maybe try finding one of them and see if they could get people to work

you can thank a girl on here
Thank you!
I've tried both of them and contapps did exactley what I wanted! It took the different profiles of the same person and placed them in and showed them as one contact.
Smartr contacts is also a nice app but it doesn't take the diffenrent information in one ontact. So if someone placed their phonenumber on let's say facebook, I still didn't have it as his phonenumber in his contact form. Instead it gets the different comunication platforms all together in one screen, so you can communicate with someone specificlay in facebook and twitter at the same time. Not what I was searching for but still nice if you are searching for that.
Everybody else, thank you for replying en helping me
! appreciate it!

Am I the only one that hates the built in Gallery App and how slow it is when you have a lot of pics.
This isnt a problem as I have QuickPic installed. However the Messaging (and Mail) add do NOT give you a list of image pickers when you attached (very anti Android HTC)
Can someone fix this? Or know a solution.
Thanks

I quite like the stock gallery, it's smooth for me and is a whole world smoother than the stock gallery on the S3 and S4. QuickPic is nice though

I have 37 albums with 50-100 pics in teach. Trust me it's slow, and every time I attach a pic it defaults to events install of albums.

Anything will be a bit slow if its got a possible 3700 photos, especially since it's always auto generating zoes on the fly. Not sure about the whole events thing, if I pick Albums it stays as albums, even if I add new photos. Sounds like you'd be better off just using QuickPic to be honest and you'll just have to work with the Gallery as it is. Maybe try a different messaging app and see if it lets you dictate what app to use when attaching photos.
Edit: I'm using GoSMS. Tried attaching a photo as SMS and it brought up a list of apps to choose from (gallery, dropbox etc)

Thanks but thats the issue really.
I am using a combination of Handcent and Stock - the reason I have to go to stock is sending MMS over Wifi (TMobile). Handcent doesnt support that.
So its just an annoyance but one I was hoping to resolve by just using Stock - but without it being able to attach from 3rd party Galleries it is a problem.
I am just frustrated that HTC didn't make their Messaging/Mail app support the normal Android methods of attaching files and providing a list of compatible apps.
Also of note - when you are in QuickPic and you Share a Image - the messaging App doesn't appear. Which again - bad HTC Bad!!!

Yeah that really is silly of them, forcing you to use their apps pretty much. Same as how they've made it so that only their official headset with volume controls actually work. All other 3 button headsets can only skip tracks
try uninstalling the default gallery
