Kronic BlueMod V 4.3 / V5.1 for 4.2 framework
- i posted v5 on a reply... wasn't thinking it's on page 1.
- it is normal for first boot to take a long time after flashing mod, during this time the system is updating the cache partitions new drawables etc because system files changed. 1-3 minutes maybe. if it starts to take really long then flash backup zip or reflash the rom you were using to patch the files back to normal, this shouldn't really happen though unless you get currupt download or flash to incompatible rom.
for bell based v20f, also works on most other v20f but some icons may need to be swapped.
- to backup original ui, make a copy of this zip, open the copy with 7-zip, replace /system/app/systemui.apk and /system/framework/framework-res.apk with the CURRENT ones from your phone (adb pull them or something) then rename the copied zip originalUI.zip and put it on your sdcard, in case something goes wrong you can reflash it to go back to default.
- to install just flash the zip in recovery mode, do not wipe cache partitions, the android OS will update them when it sees changed files.
enjoy!!!!
p.s. i don't take responsibility for you breaking your phone.
if you aren't confident in moding these files, but you want something changed just post what it is and i'll do my best to provide you with a personal patch. if there is an icon i missed on the rom you use, let me know and i'll update. (many roms use differant icons)
- if this doesn't work with your rom you can request that i write one specifically for your rom and i may do it.
i do intend on adding other color versions of this so feel free to request colors.
this UI mod is intended to make the amazingly stable and battery friendly v20f a real option by making it pretty.
other additions i recommend are:
power toggles (has a homescreen widget that add's reboot menu with recovery option and bypasses reflashing on reboot by this i just mean a faster reboot by using a root reboot command instead of stock reboot which takes forever)
pocket skip track (allows you do add screen off track switching functionality to stock roms.)
mx camera (gives you hdr camera options without removing 1080p video capabilities like cm10.1)
apex launcher (jelly bean style launcher with lots of options)
exdialer ( a good free dialer with some really nice theme's i bought a payed one for 2 dollars or something that's black and blue)
MHL works on stock roms (micro usb -> hdmi -> tv)
the rom i recommend to run with this is
the legend Ho!No!'s v20f mod 2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2185178
happy texting !!!
the other feature of this is it should theoretically run smoother than stock files due to less compression.
i will also be posting email.apk LGMms.apk LGCalendar.apk with some better black theme's
this mod is not new but i'm just trying to make a universal one for v20f now, i already have alot of happy users.
--added in 4.3 is standard black background with blue text (on title bar) for any apps or widgets that use default framework values, so far on mine it works for quite a few.
i don't think this will work on roms that aren't deodexed
Kronics BlueMod V5
V5.1 has a few divider fixes and the tab for slider panels/quicksettings in status_bar_expanded
the lockscreen is for pattern lock check attachment if u wanna see it
the screenshot for the quicksettings panel is from before the cyan color was fixed to neon blue
screenshot 16 is V4.3 the others are 5.0, in 5.1 the bottom tab color is fixed on screenshot 26
in 5.0+ BlueMod tag is removed i decided the average person probably doesn't want it.
in 5.1 the bottom bar in expanded panel color is fixed
- i did more work to framework-res to change more of the default backgrounds and font color's for 3rd party apps and such, there are a few system apps that i think have to be modded individually because it didn't apply for them, but you should see some of your apps starting to inherit the theme.
for the pattern lock mod, i disable the showing of the lines because it's extremely hard to mod, it's done in some equation in a smali file somewhere that is differant location on most phones, until someone that has a strong grasp of smali that uses LG phones takes a look i can't mod that
reserved for secondary files
if you want to learn to do your own mod's, or fix something i missed on your rom, the tutorial can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2362717
Kronics BlueMod v5
This has only been tested on the rom with 4.2 framework v20f, if someone wants to try flashing it on a non updated framework v20f and let me know if it works that is cool, if not i'll do it when i get a chance, if u do it backup your original files to a flash first.
i already fixed the highligher on the bottom tab for settings panel that is slightly the wrong color (greenish) coming in next update
i'm currently investigating the issue that is causing long reboots on every reboot instead of the first one after install. it doesn't seem to be affecting system performance but i know that is probably annoying people so i'm looking into fixing it.
edit i wiped all drives and installed the rom without the mod and it was only 15 seconds or so faster boot, i think this rom just has a long boot (the 4.2 framework one)
Did you notice that samsung disabled the soft keys in its 4.2.2 "update"?
Whenever one adds the line:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
in the build.prop and reboot then the systemui constantly forces close, thanks to samsung aka sam sucks:cyclops:
I don't know for you guys, but as for me I was annoyed cuz I can't live without soft keys. So I modded the SystemUi, and while I was at it I made the notification bar transparent, and put some green (my favorite color) here and there. Then I thought that some people may be interested, and that's why I share it here...
DISCLAIMER
I'm not responsible if anything happens, do a backup just in case.
INSTALLATION
You need to be rooted, and of course to be on 4.2.2
1-using your favorite root browser add in your build.prop:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
when done don't forget to set the perms to rw, r, r
2-go to recovery and install the zip
3-before to leave recovery wipe dalvik cache and cache
4-reboot, now you have a transparent notification bar, some nice green and soft keys.
The keys look pretty big, if it disturbs you then change your phone's DPI. As for me I use 110 for the whole phone, 160 for Android System and 130 for SystemUI, but it works with other settings, see which one fits you the best.
Have a look at the screenshoot below to see if this SystemUI inspires you...
You will notice an arrow on the left, it's there cuz I have good hopes to enable the mini tray drawer as an alternative multiwindows launcher. If I don't manage then I'll remove this arrow in a further version.
Edit 1:
Actually I don't like this unuseful arrow, and after all it's not so much work to remove it, so I made an other version without it.
Now you can choose, with or without arrow...
There is still room for some minor improvements and I'll do it when I have time, but for now I want to concentrate on making a Floating Multi Windows mod...
Edit 2:
I made 2 more versions.
I colored the soft keys, and I have made the separation between the notification toggles transparent, have a look at the screenshots and see if you like it.
One version has holes above the soft keys, the zip is labeled ColoredNoArrowSoftKeys.
The second version doesn't have the holes but has blueish lines instead, the zip is labeled V2ColoredNoArrowSoftKeys.
Enjoy!
Sir you solved my confusion...
I changed dpi thn added softkey syntax in built prop... what i got was loops..
I blamed pit file of leaked rom.. n till today.
Now I got cleared that softkey is disabled in 4 2 2
Uncle fab you are fabulous.. Thanks

Few questions
Can you provide stock system ui app?
Can I remove phone, dialer and replace it with third party apps?
I saw navigation right left keys on softly bar when keyboard in active in k2wl rom. Is that possible on your mod?
To err is human; to forgive is divine
Stock systemui, yeah, sure, but why? If you don't want the soft keys just disable the build prop line. Or maybe you want to mod it?
Anyway, here it is...
It's possible to change the keys order of course, you just have to decompile the app and remap, easy.
Phone apk you can't remove as far as I know cuz then you don't have any connectivity anymore (I didn't try with this rom though, but I had with previous ones). Stock dialer, maybe, I never thought about it actually, thanks for the idea!
I will see this when I revert back to 4.1.2 in as few days, cuz this 4.2.2 goes more and more on my nerves, it's not an upgrade but a downgrade!
Edit:
the first time the systemui pretended it was uploaded but it wasn't, so I tried again and here it is.
Before to flash anything always have a look at what's inside the zip. First to make sure that you are ok with the files inside, second to learn, and third to make a backup of your original files.
Same here... 4.2.2 is head ache.. I will revert too. 4.2.2 seems unfinished yet.
I need system ui to compare both apk n learn. But I'm enough with 4.2.2.

What made you feel it's a downgrade

Yes.. I learned that late.. I cursed me after finding that I could have backup.
Thanks but I will revert back after getting reason for considering 4.2.2 as downgrade

Previous post updated with the app...
Why a downgrade?
Higher ram consumption, no more floating multiwindows, sooooo much bloatware (a new record, I removed like 170 or 180 stock apks), google's latest spyware aka fusedlocation.apk that one can't get rid of, incompatibilities with xprivacy, lags with my favorite file manager, can't remove some unuseful xmls (well, for me they are unuseful but for google they help spying, in 4.1.2 I had removed all that trash), annoying persistent notification if I disable background sync, etc...
Actually it's not grand related, it's a 4.2.2 problem, I had some of those issues with my tab running cm 10.1 and you know what?
I reverted to 4.1.2 on my tab, such a relief!!!:silly:
I hope it will get better with 4.3 and 5+ but i'm not very confidend about it, at least when it comes to bloatware and spyware, it's the direction google and samsung follow, you remember the discussion we had a while ago...

I do remember. I get tired of blocking white collar spy wares.. Mr. GOOGLE... Blocking them makes system unstable.
I doubted on fusedlocation as it was present in all roms here... Aopk cm10.1...
Means 4.2.2 is loaded with monitoring system.? I removed bloatware but they were 70... Hence, I could figure out just half! Uncle fab provide list of apps which can be removed in a separate thread. I'm very much aware that you made in post but a thread will be handy...
Another queries....
Will battery usage improve in 4.1.2 ?
Is your multi window mod in 4.1.2 bug free?
Can you add navigation option in your soft key bar?
To err is human; to forgive is divine
I will make a thread about safe to remove apps for 4.2.2 in a few days when I have time.
Regarding battery I can't tell for sure cuz in the last days I spent most of my grand time doing settings, removing trash, trying (without any success so far) to implement multi windows and thus rebooting all the time... But since ram consumption is lower in 4.1.2 probably 4.1.2 has a better battery life.
The multi windows mode on 4.1.2 is bug free once set, but at first you have to set dpis properly.
Add navigation key in the soft keys bar? What do you mean? You mean adding other keys? I think it's possible to add the search key, but I don't know about other keys like camera, app drawer (this one is touch wiz dependant so if you use another launcher it won't work anyway, even on a Rom that supports it like let's say the tabs) or screenshots. It depend if it's supported or not (if the function is built in then it's just a matter to find the line and enable it, but if it's not supported then I'm not sure if one can trigger it).
As for me I would like to trigger real tablet ui (the notification bar merged with the navigation bar in the bottom), but I know that Samsung has disabled it on the grand and with this 4.2.2 "upgrade" I didn't have time to check further. Be insured that I will as soon as I'm done with 4.2.2...
I want real tablet ui.. Navigation keys are activated in Aokp as soon as keyboard pops up..
I really found that interesting.. May be deodexed rom can achieve it...
Edit..
I found that your 4.1.2 multiwindows mod works better on deodexed rom. Is there any way that I can convert my stock rom to deodexed rom?
To err is human; to forgive is divine
I don't follow you.
When one has the soft keys enabled it means that the keys are always active.
I'm not a big fan of custom roms (and to be honest I have always been disappointed with the ones I tried), for me the best is a bug free stock rom with everything working. Rooted, deodexed and debloated of course.
Regarding deodex, if you want to use floating multi windows on your grand, and if you want to theme your systemui etc. you need to be on a deodexed rom. You've probably noticed that the modded systemui in op is deodexed, if it hadn't ben nothing would have been possible...
Edit:
yes, the floating windows work better with a deodexed rom. If you don't know how to do it on your own it's a good opportunity to learn
Otherwise search the forum, there are some deodexed 4.1.2 roms...
When I get back to 4.1.2 I will try to improve those floating windows a bit, but first I want to try to make it work on 4.2.2.
Not working for Me
i have 4.2.2 rom and rooted
flash through CWM but wipe cache but nothing happen why
You are on stock 4.2.2?
Nothing happens? No transparent notification bar?
To have the soft keys you have to add
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
in your build.prop, otherwise the soft keys won't show, did you read op?
@DBZo07:
I went back to 4.1.2, this 4.2.2 is not for me. So I won't make a thread about safe to remove apps, but you can use the one I wrote for 4.1.2 cuz it's the same, except that you can't remove fusedlocation.apk. Don't forget to make a backup just in case

yeah!! it makes system unstable!
Thanks for consideration sir!
Hello everybody. Firstly i would like to appologize if i made this thread in wrong forum place. So i tried absolutely all ROMs for maguro and i personally think that aosp-based kitkat roms are better than cm11-based kitkat roms. But somehow i really love stock-look of kitkat ROM. I really want to use KitKat (4.4.2, not 4.4.3!) on my phone but without some features i cannot use any of current ROMs as daily ones. So i would like to ask some dev who got some free time to add some features to THIS ROM (the original thread is THIS ONE - v2 of this ROM (4.4.2 AOSP) ). Here is what features i would like to see and use in this 4.4.2 AOSP rom:
1. Long press back button to kill app (500 ms duration time of holding back button);
2. Vibration feedback on pressing/holding QuickTiles
3. 2G/3G QuickTile
4. One click Data/WiFi/Bluetooth Tile to turn ON/OFF and holding to open settings of this tile
5. Navigation ring shortcuts (afaik there are 3 shortcuts)
6. Double-tap to sleep
Only six things. No 3rd party launchers or any other add-ons. So i hope somebody will check this thread and give me an answer. Thank you in advance and have a nice day
I really doubt anyone will make a special ROM for you. Sorry.
So you have 2 possibilities:
1. Learn how to build ROM, and add what you want to it.
2. Install Shiny ROM, xposed framework and Gravitybox and have AOSP based ROM with customization (a lot of it, but all you need are included)

i tried this rom last week....very very nice.
only problem i had was the power button was mapped to reboot.
there wasn't a way to power down without pulling the battery or thru twrp.
it has oms support ?? substratum works in legacy mode or normal mode ??
sorry , didn't read the description from top to bottom ... my bad
Thanks for BAM ROM. Was keeping an eye on it at AFH,but didn't tested it, thought, it might be on beta testing. Will flash it and post reviews soon

screenshots please. and how's the battery backup?
Review-
Flashed it today. The ROM is quite good in customisations. But the deal breaker is laggy UI.
Just after initial setup, lagging starts. The first lag I observed is while pulling down notification drawer.
Settings app also lags.
Performance isn't optimized.
The good part is, some of the customization features in this ROM are really cool and not found on other ROMs.eg,
Gesture features with three, four and five fingers that too in many ways. (Check SS)
The UI is coloured different.
And the best part i like is, BAM perApp Settings im which you can set custom setting for each app including layout (set DPI) and screen (various modes). (Check SS).
The ROM is good and bears potential. Hope for the future updates implementing proper performance optimizations.
