Help Please - Need to revert back to Stock - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi All,
I wonder if someone would give me some help please. Basically I want to upgrade to the Official ICS released by T-mobile however my phone has a bootloader DarkSideX that I cant seem to get rid off. I've followed a posting on how to revert back to stock but this bootloader is still there plus when I start Kies it states:
Your device does not support software upgrades via Kies
Current Firmware version: PDA:KID / PHONE:K11 / CSC:KID (TMB)
Thanks in advance,
Aaron.

Get Odin and go to t989 android Dec section and find the Odin file its the newest one it was ugy in the name some where that's all I remember look thought the link

[Q] Galaxy Note GT-N7100 Update KIES Root

Hey Guys.
I am from Germany, so sorry for my bad English. I know of no better forum.
At Windows Mobile-times I was active here. Then I switched to Apple.
Now I am happy owner of a Galaxy Note II GT-N7100 here in Germany (without branding).
Many things have changed and are new to me. I have been searching but found no exact answers to my questions. I also read a lot of different informations. Therefore, I am careful and rather ask.
First the facts, then the questions:
Galaxy Note GT-N7100 II with Build Number JRO03C.N7100XXALJ1 (image infos)
Rooted with Odin and cwm6-root n7100.tar
Everything runs fine with no problems and I am fully satisfied with the smartphone.
This morning, the info came for an OTA update.
I'm not a fan of OTA, so I tried to update via KIES. ( firmware image)
PDA: LJ3 / PHONE: LJ2 / CSC: LJ2 (DBT)
But that did not work because my device was modified. (Image error kies)
Then I looked at Sammobile and discovered the complete firmware. ( Sammobile image)
Now my questions:
1. Is there a way to install the update via KIES?
If so, is there a tutorial somewhere, perhaps Step by Step?
2. If I install the 900MB firmware from Sammobile using Odin, all settings and apps are gone?
3. If I update the firmware, I have to roote again?
4. Can I roote regardless of the firmware with cwm6 n7100.tar-root?
My wish is a guide or tips for the following:
I want my Galaxy Note to keep up to date without each time reinstall.
I want ONLY root and keep those rights.
Maybe I'll try again later also Custom Roms.
I welcome all the tips. If there is somewhere exact answers for that I am pleased with the link. And I'm sorry if I may have already read over answers.
Thx

Hi and welcome
It's normal that with kies you cannot upgrade your firmware on a rooted device.
So
1) use normaly the sammobile firmware you dont go to lose nothing, normally they are non wipe file
2) buy odin mobile on market and flash the firmware with this program, the pay version give you the opportunity of have root.
+1 mobile odin :good:
You can inject root, super user and mobile odin when flashing new firmware
Very handy.

First, thanks for the replies.
So that I understand correctly:
I go get MobilOdin, download the latest firmware (900mb) of sammobile. Then I store the firmware on the SD card and update with MobileOdin. In MobilOdin I select root. All settings and apps keep exist?
Now i read from another user:
As we all know Samsung devices has two or more ways to upgrade their software
Either by OTA & KIES which will keep the user data & preferences or the Odin which will wipe the cache & data .
Thats what i mean ... whats right, whats wrong?

[Q] Galaxy S3 Unknown ROM

Hi everyone, new android user here! I'll try to make this as brief as possible:
Recently purchased a used Unlocked Galaxy S3.
Currently using Bell Carrier on it and it works fine.
I noticed that even after restoring SuperSU was installed.
Checked download mode -> odin installed with custom binary
Checked to see if the phone has root access -> it does not
I wanted to try and flash it with a official ROM to completely restore factory settings but I don't know what the original carrier is so I don't know what ROM to download. I called a couple carriers but they have no record of the IMEI.
I'm fairly new to android and my past two days of google searching hasn't accomplished anything relative to my problem (although I know a lot more about the rooting community!) so I thought I'd ask here.
Is there any way to know what's going on here?
Can I restore the phone to factory firmware/ROM/etc.?
Here is some phone information:
Model: SGH-I747M
Android Version: 4.1.1
Baseband: I747MVLDLK4
Kernel: 3.0.31-538866
Build Number: JRO03L.I747MVLDLK4
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Just go and download this program http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP
Go to Tools > Firmware Install and Initialization
It will ask you for your model number and Serial number. It will use those to determine what stock ROM is correct for your phone.
It will then flash you to stock, just as Odin would, including the stock recovery.

It definitely looks like you are on the stock Jelly Bean firmware from Samsung. I747M is the Canadian model (747 is ATT). Your build number also looks to be the stock 4.1.1 based on the DLK4 build number! Just as the last guy said, grab kies or use Odin to go back to complete stock if you are not happy with what you have now. If your phone is showing custom binary flashes and you want to get rid of that, give Triangle Away a try! Good luck. :good:

Thank you! That worked like a charm! The device is now in a "normal" state and the binaries are "official".

Thanks for the advice! I'm not too concerned about the flash count, that's only really important your warranty to to be valid, right? But I'll look into it, it may be worth it anyway.
Thanks again everyone!

[Q] Can't upgrade to ics, totally confused

I just bought a Captivate Glide. I realize it was running Gingerbread when I bought it but all information said I would be able to upgrade to ICS 4.0.
After installing Kies, I find that my baseband does not match the baseband eligible for the upgrade and I have no idea why this would be.
My baseband is i927ruxkj5 and the build is Gingerbread RUXKJ5.
Anyway, does anyone have any guidance for me? I found the upgrade outside of Kies in a separate executable file But I am not sure I should chance that.
Does anyone have any information? Or shall I just send it back, order a new one and hope it has the right baseband?
Thanks, in advance
Jan
start reading ..... get odin and the ics package from samfirmware.com. theres tonnes of threads on this already.
you've got i927r (roger) version, only at&t version has official upgrade to ics.
Put recovery(TWRP) with odin, backup efs, instal literom (Base one official ics) from recovery.
Everything you need can be found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621350

[Q] update att s3 to 4.4.2

I have a s3 currently running on 4.0.4.. (this was just used as a backup phone, now since my iphone is broken i have to use this one)
I tried to update OTA but everytime I check for an update, my phone always says its up to date. So is there a manual way I can perform this update? Can someone please refer me to a thread if this question has already been answered? It would gladly be appreciated. Samsung tech support wasn't any help and the people at best buy want 200.00 just to update which is bull.
You have a few options. You can update through kies, but I personally never liked kies so couldn't help much there.
Or you can flash the firmware via Odin. You can get up to 4.1.2 from http://sammobile.com/firmwares
Or you can get 4.3 firmware from enewman17 in the development section. If you want to update all the way to 4.4.2, follow his how to update thread in the General section.

[Q] Update Failed? Problems while updating to 4.4.4)

Hi,
My name is Asaf and I have a kinda weird problem:
I cannot update my phone to 4.4.4 (it's on 4.4.2)

So the thing is:
I tried to update and it failed,
tried again and again for 2 months and I still can't.
Today I've installed Samsung Kies 3 and it failed to update.
I live in Israel and I don't think it matters.
It is T Mobile's phone and they aren't working in israel all tough I can call and SMS and use my 3G.
I don't want to flash and I am unrooted (I had root) and I have 3.5GB of memory.
Device Information:
Android Version: 4.4.2
Model Number: GSH-M919
Firmware Number/Build Number: M919UVUFNB4
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-540242
I got my phone from T Mobile
My carier is: Golen Telecom (again, I'm from Israel, this is an Israeli company.)
Thanks for helping!
You need to provide much more information like exact model number, exact firmware version that's running on phone now, what carrier your using and also your shoe size.
In order to get the best help you need you must provide better info.
You may be trying to install the wrong update.

I did update the topic, try helping me ok?
and It's my phone's update I can't do that wrong.
Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54155517 follow instructions in post #8 , if doesn't work the first time do a factory reset then repeat procedure with odin 3.07 .
Refer to YouTube on how to flash firmware tmobile S4, there are many videos on this subject, just make sure it's tmobile, not Att or Verizon.
You should have no issues.
Afterwards you can use Chainfire's autoroot to root new firmware.

Download this free app from the Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo
Then, take screen shots of the General, Firmware and Android screens. (You can take screenshots by holding down the Power and Home at the same time until you hear the camera sound).
Then, post those screens.
This will tell us what you have.
My guess is that the T-Mobile OTA updates may not work for phones outside of the US, but I could be wrong.
You may have to flash the phone using ODIN if you have a Windows PC. There are lots of threads on flashing the Stock Roms.
You can download the firmware from either Sammobile.com or this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/general/firmwares-official-mdl-mk2-nb4-t2816508

Its not a rom it's a firmware, official from Samsung, which is exactly what an update does. Other than an OTA, it is the only way to update your device
