Hi All,
how to get the Gmail application asking for a password rather than going straight to my inbox / conversations... ?
Thanks in advance,
Wolf
Sign out? Or get an app that can password protect other apps
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I can't find any " Sign out " while i am in the Gmail app !
That will be a nice option though ...
I don't think it's possible to sign out of your Google account on your phone. There are probably some third party applications that can hide or protect Gmail.
Alternatively, you could create a second Gmail account and unsync your primary... just a thought I haven't needed to hide an account so I'm not sure what Gmail will do I. That scenario.
Good luck

Wow I could have sworn I had seen one, but I guess not cause I can't find it lol. Just get an app that password protects other apps

Since YOU didn't find it as well, lol
I will get an app that password protects other apps
Sorry about that

Hi All,
what app do you recommend to password protect other apps ?
Thanks
I used to use the one in zd box. And btw, if you force close the app that is password protecting another app it will stop protecting it. So don't find this out the hard way if you're hiding stuff from your wife or gf or whatever lol

Hey XDA
I'm located in Denmark, and i'm a great fan of the voice search thing.
However, when i ask about weather, it always comes up with the weather in Washington, unless i ask specific for Denmark (which is quite large)
Imo it should just give me weather for my current location..
Anyone know how to change this?

Perhaps a silly question : Is your GPS on?

Try going to settings, then Privacy and Accounts, and make sure the "search on Google.com" box is unchecked. This way your local Google site will be used instead. Worked for me

I use Google Voice for visual VM. I just forwarded my missed calls to that VM instead of AT&T's. It works just the same when you call and now I get my voice mails on all of my Android devices like my tablet.

If your phone came with AT&T Messages, you need to go to AT&T store to have them switch you back to the old VVM system. I upgrade to Messages and hated it and went back.

you don't have to go into the store you can call a csr they should be able to reset your account.
I also use Google voice and its awesome. But since most messages left are in Spanish, Google will tell me the craziest things when it tries to make them into English words (I get a hell of a kick out of it)

Can't get this to work
This app worked fine when I was using TW, but I switched over to AOKP and the app will not work. I go through the setup and it asks for my pin. I type in my pin and the app just sits there with the wheel spinning, looking like its doing something. However, it never comes back. I've uninstalled/reinstalled, factory reset, wiped cache & Dalvik cache. Any ideas?

Thanks. I should have spent a little more time looking around before posting. I also found the answer here.
I switched to Paranoid Android and somehow lost my phone # in the sim card. I was searching and found I had to go into the phone app and readd my # and also readd my voicemail dial in #(which is different than your phone #)
Had to call AT&T for that.
I was never able to get att visual VM to work. Tried everything even called att. They couldn't figure it out...surprising huh

For some reason, I can not get my phone to use Google Voice as my default VMB for the phone. I installed Google Voice, and it asked if I wanted to do that. I said yes, selected Google Voice (as opposed to Carrier) and it said it failed to update. I tried manually under phone settings many times. Tried rebooting too, nothing.
Any idea why I can't change calls to be directed to Google Voice for voicemail?
I'm on stock LH9 ROM, rooted and the special tethering framework (I tried without this first, but still no luck).
ya, tried the att messages app today.. horrible. it froze my contacts and kept shutting down some google app process.
for those who are curious.. google voice works on ICS. took me a moment to figure it out, and really liked having it on gingerbread. go to google voice website. hit settings and then "activate voicemail" it gives you a series of symbols and numbers to enter into your dialer and then it's activated.
BAM.
As the title says, the bookmarks on the stock Web browser has a link to sprints site
http://vision.sprintpcs.com/
which I hate!!!
Anyone know how to get rid of it?

Long press on the bookmark in your bookmark folder, and choose delete.
I've tried that first, it said "This bookmark cannot be deleted. "

it can't be deleted if it's still your home page...set a different home page and try to delete it again

It's not my homepage. I put yahoo as my homepage. I still can't delete it. ><

It's got to still be set as your homepage if it's coming up. I always set Google and just go to Bookmarks and long press until you get the set option for home. Then close that tab and it should be gone for good!
I use s bookmarks widget and I cant get rid of it either..
I really appreciate the response, but please believe me when I tell you, it's not set as the homepage. I can't get rid of it. Here's proof.
I've made yahoo my homepage, yet it still shows that stupid Sprint thing as such. And it won't let me delete it.

edit /system/csc/feature.xml to change any instances of http://sprint.com/powerdeck to whatever you want
also look in /system/csc/customer.xml for any instance of http://sprint.com/powerdeck and change it to whatever you want. (this file is a list of stock bookmarks for the browser)
Do I need to be rooted to do this?
I'm fully stock in case you need to know.

there is an option for using either your local bookmarks or gmail ones... the gmail ones are your personal bookmarks. Im not on touchwiz right now otherwise I'd tell you exactly how but its certainly possible I did it for this reason

I am not sure if this will work for everyone. Update and start Kies. Enter your pin. Click the Bookmarks tab. Long press and Click Delete. Tell it OK. This deleted the stupid Sprint Powerdeck bookmark from my device permanently.
Aloha
I know this is an old thread.
You can't get rid of the default page that appears when you open Chrome, unless you root your phone. The best you can do is to sent more pages on the startup screen or press the home button to the left of the address bar.
Do you use the default built in one or another?
I was using samsung's default sms app but just went back to what I was using on my dell streak which is Go SMS Pro.
For some odd reason every once in awhile my default sms would sometimes freak out and show no messages at all until I restarted then a lot of messages would be missing after I restarted.
Hoping that Go SMS Add's a split view like the default sms.
I use handcent sms and have never had any issues... used handcent on all 5 Android devices that I have owned....

I'm using a combination of default and Fusion Messenger. Fusion is in beta and gets an update almost every day but it is coming along very well. Yesterday I finally decided to use it as my main app. It's missing MMS at the moment but that is next on the list. After that Google Talk will be added.
I've tried lots of messaging apps but always come back to stock.

I like GoSMS and all of its advanced options, and plus ya can doodle in it with ya SPen and others can see it and don't need anything special to view it.

I use messaging + goggle voice in the app store. Paid app but same feel as stock and incorporates google voice texts. I hated using the gv app to text and wanted them all in one place. I use google voice for my personal line and the carrier line for work. This solved both problems and let me keep the look and feel of stock.

I think it does bother him. This is the 3rd thread that he bumps up saying the same thing.
Apparently if it's a question in any way shape or form then is in the wrong place to him!
Even if its a question pertaining to apps or themes and which ones you use or why...
