When I set my Date & Time to Automatic from the network provider, it seems to jump ahead by 10 mins every now and again.
If I uncheck the the Automatic option and the recheck it, the time corrects itself but will them jump by 10 mins after a while.
I have only noticed this since upgrading to 2.3.3.
I am on the Orange network and have an unbranded handset.
Has anyone else noticed this issue? I'm not sure if it is network or 2.3.3 related so would appreciate any info from
It will fix itself eventually. I fixed it by having the wifi on for a while. Turning it off, waiting and then turning it back on again. Seems like a local server issue so just wait it out and keep it connected to wifi for a while and see what happens.

I will give it a try. I usually have my wifi on all the time when i am in the house. I'll monitor it over the next few days and see how it goes.
I have had the same problem since the gingerbread update on my Vodafone Desire HD. I have Wi-fi on all day at home and work and only thing that corrects the time is turning the automatic setting off and on again. Definitely a bug in there somewhere.

That's good to know. Looks like it may not be a network issue then.
Do you have an unbranded handset?
Same here in Australia, but only started to happen last night. I can trigger it by going to the weather app and manually updating the weather. Updating again restores the time to normal.
I have sent a email off to HTC about the issue. Lets see what they say about it.
They seem to be quite active on Facebook these days so I think I'll leave a comment on their page also.
Hopefully will get a reply soon to say it's a bug or that they are investigating it. With past experience in contacting their customer service dept, I'm not holding my breath.
OK people it looks like it's a known issue and HTC are currently working on it. They sent me the following reply on Facebook :
Hi scotia_rfc, it's not an issue caused by the Gingerbread update, we've seen that some handsets are showing the time 10 minutes ahead. We would like to reassure you that we are currently working to rectify this and will have an update for you shortly. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may be causing.

I haven't had this issue. My phone alarm is what gets me up for work, so that would be a big problem.
I have had the same issue since updating to 2.3.3
Definitely seems like it is update related to me - I have a couple of phones synced to an Exchange server so I would have noticed before the update if the clocks were out of sync by 10 minutes as the alarms and reminders would have been going off at different times on the two phones, but since I updated yesterday they go off at different times. If you turn off the automatic update, correct the time and re-enable automatic update then it will sometimes roll on an extra 10 minutes within a few minutes. Seems to roll on more rapidly when moving about so perhaps related to cellular location updates?
Phones are HTC Incredible S (unbranded, s710e from Taiwan), Nokia E5 (not my choice - work phone!)
This may be just a little problem waiting for a fix. I only noticed today that it shows me weird time, but it was automatically updated after a few minutes.

Same here and I'm on o2-UK. I have also found by having WiFi on it corrects itself but surely there is a proper fix ?

If your rooted I'd recommend ClockSync. It works wonders for me. Keeps my time synced with 0.uk.pool.npt.org . You can use any timeserver local to you using http://www.pool.ntp.org/ . Be sure to turn off Automatic in "Time & Date".
Same problem here: Vodafone RO, unbranded DHD on stock 2.3. Strange thing though is that I've only noticed it after rooting my phone a couple of days ago. I don't remember having this issue before rooting.
I found this today! Thought I was going to be late but turned out I was on time but my time was over 20 min ahead of it's self!!!
Un-checking and then checking the automatic time update sorted it out
Global NTP servers are out of sync, so HTC cannot fix that. It will get fixed in no time.

Same, but worse
I have the same issue, so deactivate the automatic update.
But since I upgraded to 2.3.3, I loose both Wifi and phone networks (3G/edge/simple phone) if the device has not been used for about 2 hours. I must switch off "Data" and "Wifi", and switch on again.
Has anyone the same problem ?

Hm. Then why does unticking and reticking the automatic sync fix this problem? I mean, it always gets the time right when doing this, doesn't it mean the servers are fine?
I think i had this problem before i updated.
NOw it asks if i want to automatically update time everytime i reboot
I'm using official france froyo since two weeks ago.
Sometimes my wifi connection drops and reconnect every minute or so.
When it happens even a phone reboot doesn't solve it.

The WiFi issue some users are having, described as "Wifi restarting every 20-30 seconds" in the github issue, was identified to be a problem with the DHCP lease some APs are using. Specifically, the DHCP client the latest nightlies use fails to work correctly when the AP gives an infinite lease to the client. If that is changed to something like one day (86400 seconds) the DHCP of CM7 works correctly. Obviously a bug, but this workaround can be used if you have access to the AP settings.
By now, for resolving this issue, you must enter into your router and set the lease time to a number like the one described above (86400 seconds) or similar.
Tell me if its works.
Sorry for my bad English
I think... in Wifi setting goto advance - Wifi sleep policy and set to Never. It should solved your issue
My access point already has a lease time of 86400
I'm trying setting a reservation to see if it makes some difference
As for setting sleep time to never, i'm keeping it as a last resort as I really like my who wifi to save power while not in use.

Reservation made no difference
I was using the max power saving battery profile
Now i've switched to the night/day profile
Let's see if it makes some difference
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
No difference on power profile also.
Right now I think it's an external interference.
I've tried connecting to the same access point with a windows laptop.
At the same time the defy lost the connection, I saw lag spikes on the windows laptop. Maybe windows wifi drivers are more tolerant on noisy signals than the little defy.
Even the fact that this behaviour is somewhat random makes me think about an audio video repeater from a neighbour.
I'll try switching the access point channel which is 13 right now

I'm really getting bored about this...
Basically happens that the push notifications are completely delayed (or temporarily stopped) after a while im on wifi..
everything is set correctly, wifi sleep policy is set to keep awake even on sleep...
with 3g network everything is ok, push notificaton works fine...instead on wifi after a while, notifications stops (gtalk messages, mails, whatsapp,..), they back all together at some point later...so the solution is to wait (couple/ten minutes) or I have to put wifi toggle off and on to get notifications all together
the wifi and network indicator are blue...but i supect the synch with google services is lost, since if i log out from gtalk and log in again, gtalk don't come online soon...when it finally come online, the i got all notification all together...
the wifi has no proxy or something..a simple wpa home wifi..
what could the problem? someone encountered it? tips? its only me? (i can't believe only me)
to me is seems like after the phone go on sleep, the connection to google services is lost, and it come back only after some several minutes (when probably a reconnection is being forced)..this is annoyng when chatting on gtalk...i also noticed that doesn't never happen if screen is on and im currently using gtalk for example..
currently im with stock JB 4.1.1 (see signature), but was happening with ICS also, and even with my previous htc desire..but now with JB seems to happen more often and in a fast way, it loose the push notification connection much sooner than ICS..and also, let me say: we are on android 4.1 and still google didn't fix this? wtf those android push are not reliable, and note that I'm a big android fan so..
its some bug on android or something wrong with my wifi router/network (even if I tried also in my parent house, and its same)?
also, i tried using static ip, google dns, 2.4ghz only..what else to try?
really appreciate some tips..thanks in advance! and sorry if my english not perfect!

Does it do that on other devices that you own? (Nexus 7 maybe?)
Also, you're saying that this is happening after the update, right?

It happen before with ICS and also now with JB
But I don't think Im the only one that have this..

So no one have delayed push notification under wifi??
/last bump
I have the similar problem (except I don't get notification unless I connect via mobile data).
Since on ICS, no push notifications over WiFi (everything works fine on mobile data though). Acc sync is on, WiFi set to never sleep (which I think doesn't really matter, because I'm not gettin any push notif. even when the phone is awake).
Also tried different ROMs, kernels, factory resets etc. (rooted), nothing helps. I have to open the app when I want notification update (using Gmail, Whatsapp, Foursquare, Friendcaster).
This is really a pain, could anyone help pls?
I use SGS GT-I9000, currently on SLIM rom, Semaphore kernel (see attached img).

Disagree. As I tried (as suggested by others on XDA), i open whatsapp and then off the screen. The push notification works.
So it's not about the strength of signal.
The push notification framework is one service that run for all the apps.. So it's not related to one or to an other app
Whatsapp not use push notifications when you have it opened, it only use push after some minutes that you don't open it
Its not a problem of signal strength, is a problem of connection timeout... Every carrier have different timeout for long connections... The push connection is a long running connection, that should always be alive to work correctly

I'VE FOUND A WORKAROUND of this no-push-notif during deep sleep problem.
Earlier, I tried holding partial wakelock so the device never sleep, this of course works alright, but drains battery very rapidly (5% / 30mins).
This is NOT ACCEPTABLE.
So, I tried something else :
automatically waking up the device regularly every 30mins, with the help of Tasker (which doesn't turn on the screen at all).
The result is :
7 hours after screen off and a good night sleep, in the morning I sent myself a BBMsg and it arrived perfectly in about 5 secs.
Battery consumption is totally acceptable : only 4% drop during 7 hours (dual sim ON, data ON).
That's days ago, and still works perfectly until now, I'm happy with it, so I'd like to share the AWESOMENESS.
I'm not sure about push notif from Google servers via GCM, I don't use any app which takes advantage of GCM, I only use BBM which uses its own servers.
In this case, you should first try adjusting heartbeat interval using PushNotificationFixer (which can't help me since it only resends heartbeat to Google server).
Tasker setup :
1. create new profile : Time
* uncheck both start & end time (so it starts and ends from midnight to midnight)
* check Repeat : every 6 minutes (during deep sleep, this 6 mins expands 5x to 30 mins)
2. add new task :
what you do in this task doesn't really matter, the point is to do something in a regular interval (I only use Alert Morse, so I know that the profile is still running)
GODSPEED !!!!
PS. :
if you're not familiar with Tasker, after installation you have to :
1. allow it as admin (system Settings > Device Administrators)
2. turn on its service (system Settings > Accessibility)
3. put it on auto-start list
Really odd problem here - as of a couple days ago, everything was working perfectly with my galaxy nexus. I decided to jump over to CM10 (was on codename android, IIRC), right after I think there were some new commits to AOSP.
From here on out, my phone would never enter deep sleep when connected to wifi. Any wifi hotspot - the ones I've been using, a hotspot I created from my desktop - the icon would show the phone constant receiving data via wifi. Using better battery stats, over about 5 hours on my desk, 4.5hrs were spent with a WLAN_RX_WAKE kernel wakelock with my phone sitting at 350MHz instead of deep sleep for that time.
I tried a bunch of different kernels (stock CM10, franco, imoseyon, etc) both new and old versions, but the problem was still there. I tried clean flashing a rom, and only installing better battery stats. Same thing with all kernels.
Factory restored google stock images to BOTH ICS and JB. I still have the problem. Tried disabling google location services. No dice. Tried a couple basebands, but I'm pretty sure that only affects cell/data performance, right?
I honestly have no idea what is going on. I've been on this hotspot (campus wifi) for months now without a problem, and now this. Some threads say that this is caused by DHCP requests from the router, but why would I have not seen this until now? My idle drain was at about 1-2% per hour before this, now it is close to 10-15%.

Not sure if you've tried this and it helps but maybe you can try Network Log or Shark from the store to diagnose this?
Network Log doesn't show up with anything, so the wakelock shouldn't be caused by a rogue app.
Shark, on the other hand, after about 10 seconds of logging, netted me about 300 DHCPv6 'solicit XID' requests. There a bunch of different sources from these requests, they just seem to be other devices on the network pinging my phone to see if it's a DHCPv6 server...?
I've seen some suggestions on other forums to mess around with the router settings, which I can't do because it's campus internet.
Since you've tinkered with rom/kernels etc on phone without any seeming change, it's feasible that there's been some change recently on the other side of the equation namely the network settings of your campus wifi? Maybe your University's tech department has implemented something new etc? Have you tried asking others with wifi enabled phones if they are experiencing this as well?
Found this here (pretty sure you've come across this if you've been googling abt this issue but posting anyways)
"Another more elaborate solution if you rely on that network a lot, is to purchase a wireless bridge or gaming adapter and connect it to your apartment wifi and then connect your own wifi router to that. Then the gaming adapter would get the dhcp IP from your apartment (so who cares if it is renewing it constantly) and your router would treat the connection just as if you were connected directly to an internet connection. Then configure your router for static IP addresses or if your router does not cause issues with DHCP then you don't need static IPs."
from http://rootzwiki.com/topic/16134-kernel-wakelock-wlan-rx-wake/
I know I had an issue with some wlan rx wakelock thing last year but I cannot for the life of me remember how I got rid of it or what changed
Hmm, seems like an okay solution but my friend's devices don't seem to show the same symptom, and since I roam campus alot, a wifi extender wouldn't be ideal.
Bump. Any other ideas?

I am seriously ripping my hair out from this goddamn wakelock ****.
I wake up at 9am and have to charge my phone by 4pm because it's at 16% with 40 minutes of screen on time. Seriously? This is a JOKE.
I've checked with BetterBatteryStats and CPU Spy. Both confirm the phone keeps sitting at 350MHz when it's supposed to be sleeping, as well as wlan_rx_wake keeping the phone awake.
I've set my phone to receive a static IP from my router (DIR-655) but it doesn't help. I really don't know WHAT to do. I've downloaded shark to my phone, sniffed packets, but haven't been able to get anything useful out of it since there is a LOT to sift through (unless you know what you're looking for - which I don't).
This is by far the worst bug/issue I have ever encountered with my phone and it is seriously getting on my nerves. I will be forever greatful to anyone who can help me pinpoint the issue and make it stop.
Also, i REFUSE to "go buy a new router" as it's bull****. This is a bug people experience only sometimes it seems and NO ONE has a fix for it. I read somewhere about a fix being implemented in some kernels but they were for other phones, never found anything like it for the GNex. If anyone knows anything about a fix like that, please show me the way.
I already checked for rogue apps, there were none keeping wifi awake. I've even tried with a totally stock, newly flashed phone with stock kernel and everything. NO extra apps installed except shark, CPU spy and betterbatterystats sideloaded. I didn't even input my GMail to stop the syncing. It STILL KEPT MY GODDAMN PHONE AWAKE.
I am SERIOUSLY desperate. Considering just selling my phone and opting for something else if this continues, it totally cripples everything.
/rant over
turn on WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS, for about 30seconds, then turn them off. put your phone to sleep, then check if you're going into deep sleep. CPU spy is a good app to check if your hitting deep sleep.
Change wireless network encryption? Wpa2, tkip+aes, aes only, tkip only? Wpa?
Change wifi channel?
Edit: scratch that. Try disabling 5ghz band.

I had a similar issue, it turned out it was Dropbox LANSync in my home LAN. I used an experimental forum build on my PC, so it could be this, but in the end I turned LANSync off, since Android doesn't make use of it anyway.
So try this if you have Dropbox running on your network clients.

A quick update, I just tried all the suggestions in the quotes in my previous post but to no avail, still getting the wake locks. I'm seriously going crazy.
Turning wifi off did let the phone sleep, but that was expected as the wake lock is related to wifi. Nothing else has worked. NOTHING.

This issue appeared again for me, it obviously also helps to disable the NETBIOS on your Windows PC network adapter. There are guides for that online. Also get the "Network Log" app in the Play Store, it shows the traffic so you can see which one's are for the kernel (wlan_rx_wake is a kernel wakelock).
Also uPNP feature in router can cause all kind of weird behavior. Better block it from router's firewall.

What baffles me the most is that all of this shouldn't be needed. I shouldn't have to disable netbios and do things to OTHER devices just so my phone sleeps. This is a jellybean issue imo, I never had these problems on ICS.
The experiments continue, updates incoming.

I also suspect the major issue was that my wifi channel was the same as the ones around me. When I changed it, the wlan wakelocks went down significantly.

I am on my 3rd GS3. The issue I am having is that my Navigation programs (default and telenav) will search and search for satellites, but won't connect. But when I restart my phone, it will work fine for a day or two then back to no connection.
I have spoken to Sprint and this is an unreported problem... until me. So, Sprint will replace my device. I am unrooted and completely stock. I know that Sprint is in Nashville, TN working on installing the 4gLTE towers. It isn't live yet, but they will turn on and off periodically.
I have searched these threads and I have not heard of any others with this issue. My first GS3 was rooted, but I have not done the two replacements. This has only occurred on an unrooted device.
Has anyone heard of this issue and know a resolution? I am considering rooting again to see if that is a fix. This is not a horrible issue, it is much better than a device that won't boot, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Currently Rooted running the people's rom (3.06) GPS works flawlessly. I have tested and used Scout (By Telenav) Telenav, and Google Maps with no issues at all (tested in FL, MS, And parts of AL during my drive there and back) Haven't had any issues tho.
Mine worked fine while unrooted but started not initializing for startup apps that needed it after i rooted it. I would have to go to the app directly for it to start the GPS. Otherwise the app would continuously look for location. Unfortunately I haven't been able to narrow it down to any one Rom or kernel. Any one else with this issue?

Before I returned my phone for another replacement, I decided to delete all of the apps that I had downloaded. I then rebooted my phone. After 2 days, it worked fine. I then began installing apps one by one. I figured the problem had to be app specific and only apps that use gps. There was one of two apps I decided was the culprit: Facebook or JuiceDefender. I installed Facebook and it worked fine for 2 days. Ample time for the issue to appear. I have figured out that all along JuiceDefender is the problem. It is shutting off GPS like it is supposed to, but not turning it on when it is supposed to. The problem started when I reverted to stock and took the OTA Android update. I am just embarrassed that it took until now to look at the apps as the problem and not the phone. I am going to contact JD and let them know what I have found. I hope there can be a fix, JD really works well... except for my gps!
Anyways, look at apps first as the problem child before running to a repair shop (like I did!) .
Hope this helps others...

JD is designed to disable data connection to conserve battery, You can set it for a threshold where it will keep the connection alive if it's transmitting information back and forth.. (Must have Ultimate for that i believe) So if your disabling the data connection, then it'll kill GPS.
It is set on balanced. That is why I didn't think of juice defender first. Never had this issue until android updated.

I am having the same problem. My GPS will work, but for me, it's only for about 15 mins or so (while in an App that starts it). Then, if I stay in the app, it will just lose connection. If I exit the App, and the GPS turns off, then when I go back it, it will not turn on again. It isn't like it is searching and it doesn't get a signal...it never turns on. The only thing to bring it back is to reboot. I noticed it while on a custom ROM (TPR) and thought it must be that, so I flashed back to stock. Still the same thing. I then tried doing a factory reset. Still not working properly. Anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem. My GPS will work, but for me, it's only for about 15 mins or so (while in an App that starts it). Then, if I stay in the app, it will just lose connection. I took it in to Sprint they said it was the bad antenna and will give me a refurbish phone. This phone is less than a month old and why I will take a refurbish phone. Like I bought a brand new car and come in for a fix and they took me to the use car lot for a factory certificated car.
So I sent to Samsung and they claimed replacing a part and got the phone back, same problem is still happening.
Anyone can help us on this. It seems a common issue to a few of us.
Here is a simple GPS fix that works well.
