[Q] Problem with Music files appearing that have been deleted - Acer Iconia Tab A100

I have a rooted Acer Iconia Tab A100 running the REAPER-RF1-EXTREME rom 1.014.00 Base.
I am using crossix's SD swap script (install-recovery.sh). I copied a bunch of music to the SD Card (16 GB mini-SD) and decided later on to delete and reinstall more music.
When I open any music app (Music, Winamp, etc.) All the songs that I deleted are showing up in the player along with the newly added songs.
I have tried formatting both the cache and dalvik-cache with no success. Any idea on how to fix this problem?
By the way, thanks to all the devs that make it possible for wanna-be's like me to have so much fun with my Android devices!

Try clearing the data of those music players, then reboot. Reopen the players, search for your music and see what happens.

Thanks Theonew! That did the trick. After I deleted the data files I just had to reinstall the apps and everything is back to normal.
I'll be sure to give you a thank you tomorrow since I have used all mine for the day (yes, it appears I am being very needy lately) ;-)

[Q] [BETA 0.3.4][17.01] ICS for Desire Finding music on SD card issue

A trivial question/issue which I've come up against regarding this ROM. I realise there's already been a thread on it but had no sure fire fix or workaround. I also realise it's a beta rom and things like this may be an issue to be fixed but judging by no one else on the thread stating it, I'm thinking they have it working.
I'm currently running an InsertCoin Sense'd 2.3 rom (Which displays the music in the stock player) but after doing the usual wiping caches and such and flashing the ICS rom, if I try and play music through the stock player it doesn't find anything. Tried running through a thirdparty app like Poweramp and still nothing. I'm stumped to be honest.
Does ICS use a different folder structure on the SD card or is it something driver wise/HWA related?

I answered in the other thread but, "Music" should be fine for the structure.
I've used the ICS rom from the beginning more or less, and the problem only popped up for me in 3.3.
At the end of the day it is beta and problems are to be expected.
Btw I pressed the wrong button and gave you your first thanks

Thanks for the accidental thanks. Good to know I'm not the old person having music issues.

Don't you have some lags, while playing misic in Google music? I have sove some "rewinds"(1-2sec) every 30-45 minutes...

Is that streaming or from the card? I have offline music only ticked so only play from my sdcard, but I have no problems with skipping pauses or rewinding.
All the music stored on SD card.
Maybe try a different music player to see if it does the same. The cm9 music app looks pretty similar to google music, lots more options with it
Other player had the same bug.
Now on 0.3.6 ROM, other players(winamp, stock music) acts well, and google music again spoils my mood =(

Apollo music not working right on any rom that I flash

Apollo music was working fine for me, but all of a sudden whenever I go to listen to music I can see the artists and the albums, but when I go to swipe over to songs it starts to swipe and then freezes for about 5 seconds and just closes. I don't get a force close message or anything, it just closes. I have tried flashing 4 or 5 different roms since this happened and it is doing it on everyone I flash. I am newer to rooting and flashing but I have not had a problem until now..but I didn't know if I needed to do something to fix it or what. I am in the middle of partitioning my SD card to see if that will fix it, but I thought that I would post so that if it doesn't work I will hopefully have some answers by the time I am done. Thanks a lot and let me know if there is any information you need from me to answer my question.

Have you tried Walkman??
I like that one a lot better than Apollo.
Here it is if you want it
http://d-h.st/r1l
try cyanogenmod 9. i just tried apollo music and it works fine
CM9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625096
That is my next step, just to find a different player.
I've tried CM9 also. I am trying it from Team DIRT right now though instead of jmztaylor's. But, of course having problems getting apollo to show up after flashing the rom, so I don't know if it's even going to work yet.
I pulled the Apollo .apk out of the zip for the rom though and figured I would just install it manually if it didn't show up. But can I do that or will it mess something up?
Oh, and thank you for that .apk :]
pulling an apk out of a rom shouldnt do any harm..but i wouldnt delete it, you can try reinstalling it after flashing a fresh rom..
but i took the music apk from mazwoz ics beta 6, here it is if you wanna try to install it

Yeah, I didn't remove it out of the rom, I just pulled it out and tried to install it after flashing, but it said download not complete.
I will try that one though. Thanks a bunch.
I have to agree with HipKat that Walkman is now my fav music app. And that's coming from someone who paid for power amp.
But if you really like Apollo, I suggest you try Google's music app. It looks virtually the same and being able to use the cloud for free is a pretty nice feature.
For the life of me I don't understand why cm9 incorporates Apollo in the rom. At this point in time it feels very beta.

Sorry for double post, just read your OP again. It sounds like you might have a bad apk. I am assuming you keep adding the same one to every rom.
Also try going into "fix permissions"...under "other" if you are using smelkus recovery...if not use RomManager to fix permissions.
Clear cache and dalvik cache.
Partitioning your SD is recommended for many roms. I'd advise it if your are moving your cache to SD. But I don't really see how this will solve your issue unless your on a rom that requires it

[Q] Music not showing up in music player(s) [SOLVED]

Looking for some help here. Long time viewer/poster, first time I've had a problem. Perhaps I can find help.
After a music transfer last night, my phone is no longer recognizing the files in my SD card's Music folder. The files can still be located and played through ES File Explorer and other file manager apps, but all my music players (Play Music, Winamp, stock HTC player) do not show them.
Upon searching the forums and the Internet, I have noticed this problem exists across multiple devices, and the solutions are easy to do and seem to work...for everyone except me. Clearing app data/cache, uninstalling/reinstalling, using SDrescan, searching for .nomedia files (none found anywhere), unmounting/remounting, wiping and reflashing my current ROM (DigitalKarma V8)...nothing works, and I am running out of patience. I am close to completely resetting the phone and reformatting the SD card (after backing up, of course...I'm not THAT stupid )
It's likely I may be doing something wrong, but to be safe, I want to see if there is anything I am either missing or overlooking in order to fix this common yet annoying problem. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah the best step if you've tried everything would just be to reformat your sdcard because it sounds like something broke on that
OH. 1 thing before you do that, make sure that the permissions for your music is set to readable by everyone, hopefully that fixes it

Wait, hold the phone. Using File Manager to search my SD card, I find a whole s***load of .nomedia files. ES File Explorer couldn't find them...guess I found a new file manager lol
Now to delete all those files and try this thing again...wish me luck.
Fixed! Looks like I did miss/overlook something, and deleting those .nomedia files took care of everything. Now that I have my music back (and a new file manager...well, not really new, I've used it occasionally in the past), I can get back to enjoying the piece of classic awesome we call the EVO 4G. Consider this case closed.
Put "[SOLVED]" in the thread title please

That's exactly what you do is delete all those .NO MEDIA files. Also, there's an app called Rescan Media that will work

[Q] PlayerPro crashing upon startup. (JellyBelly v6)

I start it up, and it just goes right back to the launcher, it will show up in my open tasks though and when I try to get to it from there it just crashes again. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue?

Also another issue, tried opening DoubleTwist, it opened. But when I when I went to hit the Albums tab it crashed as well.
Try fixing permissions. If that doesn't work, it could be an incompatibility of some sort... Can't know unless I know more about your setup.

There are a lot of sound and music mods in v6, I modified the ROM to work optimally with the included music players... Sorry if other ones don't work because of it. Noozy and Apollo are both great music apps.
I use player pro and haven't had this issue.

I have tried fixing permissions twice now and still no change. I've tried reinstalling both applications and still no change. They are not stored on the SD card, Apollo works, as does Google Music. But I don't like having to use Apollo, it has barely any features, and it wont let me change it's skin. And even though I have my entire library on Google Music I don't like to steam music as it kills my battery so I store music locally to an SD card.

Try JellyBelly v5. It doesn't have the audio mods and runs just as fast, if not faster.

Ok so I guess i missed the memo where you updated V5 again so I redownloaded and re-wiped the phone, it works like a charm now. When I saw that last one that said final I figured it was final and didnt there was an update to it again till 3 days ago.
May I say though thank you for this ROM, I was using the CNA port before this, but I think that may be the final one I keep on my phone, now that everything seems to be working on it now.

GOOGLE MUSIC [while switching ROMs]

Ok so this has been pissing me off for a very long time and I have done a lot of research and read through a bunch of forums and im still NOWHERE. When you save music to the SD card in google music on our LG optimus G it saves it to /data/data/com.google.android.music/
This is a HORRIBLE place to save music. Every time you wipe data you lose all the music you have downloaded which in my case is upwards of 10 gigs. Not fun to download 10 gigs of music every time i switch roms. I could merely not wipe data, but the problem with that is its then a dirty wipe and ive been doing this long enough to know that dirty wipes don't always go perfectly. So on to the solutions I have tried that have failed:
1.) Use the music+ app made by a user here on XDA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140756
Now this solution seemed to work at first because when you download the music for offline use you can literally store it anywhere. So store it on the simulated sd card and your problems are solved right? wrong. after downloading all the music, wiping your phone flashing a new rom and restore the apk+data with titanium i find out that the app can not see any previously downloaded music that still exists in that folder and thus when you try to download more music, it wipes everything and starts fresh.
2.)Use Directory Bind created by another user on XDA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
now I had some hopes for this one but unfortunately it cannot access data stored in /data/data i dont think it has root permissions, which is the problem
3.) I briefly tried symlinking the data from a different folder (though i may have done it wrong i didn't put my whole heart into the attempt)
this didn't work either (unless i simply did it wrong.)
If anyone has a solution that does actually work I would greatly appreciate hearing about it because its at the point where i hesitate before flashing roms because i dont want to lose all my music.
Also please don't suggest simply putting the music on my phone and using a different player. i have come to find that i need to use google music as not all my music fits on the amount of storage we are given and i inevitably need to stream it sometimes.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. I hope this thread also helps others having the same issues.
Edit: this is interesting. im gonna take a crack at it see if it helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842568
I didn't read your whole post because I'm tired, but I do know you can place the music in whatever place you want, and the music application will pull it up.
Edit: also, in my experience, any music I've saved through the music app has stuck through several rom flashes, including EOS and CM.
Tried a few things, including the methods in that last link you posted. I was missing pictures since flashing CM because of the sdcard/0 partition thingy it created. They seem to have come back. Maybe that will fix your music issue.

Yeah im kind of hoping that the most recent solution i have found will solve my problem (deleting the nomedia thing) i haven't tried it yet but i would have to use google music+ for this not the regular. you can put your music elsewhere and google music will read it but see i want to have the adaptability of just clicking the save offline music thing to both add music to my offline, and remove music from it. its just convenient. If i had it in a different spot on the sd that wouldn't work.
when you flashed between eos and cm, did you factory reset in between? because if i dont do that the music will stay but i dont want to be constrained that way
There is an app called cloud music importer or something like that. It logs into your Google music account and then allows you to download your music. It stores it in the music folder under cloud music. Google music player will still play it too. The free version of the app only allows 50 downloads. There is an in app purchase that is tied to your Google account so you don't have to keep purchasing it.

Good idea but not what im looking for. two apps instead of one. and then the music is separate from the music in the google music app itself. kinda defeats the purpose
EDIT: i might end up giving in and doin this. i have been unsuccessful in just about every way im testing this app out to see how well it works
just realized this cant be my solution because i can't fit all my music on my phone otherwise this would be a good solution
You don't have to download your whole library. Just the albums or playlists that you want. I mainly use it to place music on my phone so zombie run can see it
Edit: I'm totally with you tho and wish it was back to how it was in the beginning instead of just downloading inside the app
