[Q] Crash to music app? - HTC One X

So when I hangup, the dialler seams to crash and the standard HTC music app appears, this seams to happen on a few app, it looks like they crash, then the music app is on screen?
I am running a custom rom, Charmeleon_V5.0.0 but this also did the same on other rom's, happens a lot when I hangup from a phone call!
Happens on Android_Revolution and modaco, after super wipe, or normal wipe?
Any ideas?
Thanks

A few months ago I experienced a few problems with my phone too. What worked for me was to reinstall the rom by a few steps.
You can try a reinstall with these steps:
1) Superwipe
2) Install ROM boot image (optional)
3) Install ROM
4) Wipe cache and dalvik
5) Let it boot, ensure it's fine
6) Reboot into fastboot
7) Install the repacked boot image (boot.img)
8) Modules (if available)
Good luck!

Thanks for the info, I did put a new rom on, a revolution 7, ant it's so much better, no crashes at all!
So thank you!!

[Q] Reflash problem after flashing Cyanogen

Hi all !
Yesterday I wanted to try Cyanogen on my Desire, an I did so with a nightly build.
I just wanted to test it : I'm actually so much Sense-addicted ^^"
But, when I tried to flash my regular RCMixS v06, it didn't work, I was stuck on HTC Logo. Then, I tried to flash Modaco's update.zip file wich I used to root my phone, but, again, it didn't work. Now I'm stuck with a "onlyCM" Desire, which is pretty inconvenient :s
I'm asking you this question : what can I do?

Hi,
Did you check to make sure you had a compatible radio version?
Also, I would suggest clear Dalvik Cache and Wipe.
let me know how it goes
Do a full wipe:
Go into recovery - mounts and storage - format boot - format system - format data - format cache - then format sd-ext if you have it then exit that menu and goto advance and do a wipe on Dalvik cache
this is old style full wipe, works for me every time.
Hope you come right.
EDIT: After full wipe install ROm of choice..
Thanks Grobiedeb, it has worked

[Q] MAJOR Problems, Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands

Alrighty....seems as if I have some MAJOR problems here.
Background, I have a DInc 1, rooted using Unrevoked, and the only ROM I put on it was Cyanogen Mod 7. S-off is all set up, and there is the Superuser features have worked fine 75% of the time. Everything was up and running quite well for some time. Then this weekend, I installed a few different DWLauncher themes, and things still seemed to be ok. Sunday night, I installed Words with Friends, and that is when all hell broke lose.
Now, I really can't run anything. Apps are force closing all over the place, Google framework stuff is force closing and when I even try to report a problem, even that force closes. So, I uninstalled the Words with Friends App, and changed themes, thinking those were the culprits, but seems like the damage has been done. Nothing really works and everything is force closing.
Went into the ROM Manager (premium) and did a fix permissions and it gave me the "error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" error. I ran it a handful of times, and it worked once last night. I thought it would have cleared a bunch of stuff up, but it didn't really help at all. Kept the phone off all night, and when I got to work this morning, I started working on it. Fine, time to ditch everything and start from scratch. So, downloaded a different ROM (Cyanogen MOD nightly), and also tried a few others, which it let me download, but when I click to install, no matter what options I click from wiping cache, wiping Dalvik, backing up or anything, it always gave me the same error. So, back to ROM manager, trying to boot in recovery, error, boot into CM recovery, error.
Edit, as I finished typing this, I tried to install the nightly one more time, but did not click wipe Dalvik, and it is installing things. As soon as everything installed, it was more of the same, apps crashing all over the place. I was able to go into ROM manager and boot into CM recovery, which is now allowing me to fix problems. So, it seems as if was working properly, for the first couple of hours, but around 10 pm, roughly 12 hours after the install, app crash-o-rama again. Also, from ROM Manager, when I try to flash ClockworkMod Recovery, it force closes.
So, I am kinda stuck. No matter what ROM I download, it gives me the same error. At this point, I don't care what ROM is on there (I do have preferences), but I just want the phone working again. Is there anyway to force a wipe and install?
Thanks in advance
You can, instead of installing the ROM through ROM Manager, just download the ROM zip file, put it on your SD card, do the full wipe/factory reset/dalvik in Recovery, then flash the ROM zip from there.
I've had issues trying to install a ROM that's downloaded from ROM Manager.
Here's what I do before flashing the ROM zip file:
Wipe user data/factory reset
Wipe dalvik (under the Advanced menu in Recovery)
Wipe /boot, /system, /data, /cache (under Mounts and Storage in Recovery)
THEN flash the ROM zip file.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply. It has been a long day of working on this phone. I have to pull my battery so many times, almost as many times as my blackberry.
I have installed about 4 different ROM versions until it would allow me to clean everything up, Dalvik and system cache, but as of now, everything is back up and running.....for now. Let's hope it stays that way.
If it doesn't, it seem like I will go the way of skipping the ROM Manager and just boot straight into recovery and do it all that way.
Thanks again
ROM manager isn't exactly reliable software. Most devs recommend a clockwork flash rather than ROM manager. Don't know why there are so many issues with it, but its pretty much not worth using to flash ROMs. It's fix permission feature is exactly the same routine that clockwork uses though. Updating the superuser might be something to try too.
ROM manager only wipes once and cwm3 doesn't wipe properly.... I've always read that you should wipe data cache and dalvik 3 times each before installing a new ROM wich is why you should use cwm.

Awesome link!
That you all for the info. I tried a few things, installed a few ROMS, wiped them each time, and back to the CM7 nightlies and it all seems to be working fine now. Let's hope it stays that way.
Next time I have problems, I will have to do everything out side of ROM Manager and see if it has a better result..
Thanks again
Actually this has happened to me, usually happens when installing or Uninstalling certain hardware.
After reinstalling my roms to get it to work right when it did it few hours later to infuriate me. The only thing that did work was booting into Recovery and install my rom again but with what the guy said.
Wipe all data, everything, factory reset.
Then install your rom, then make sure you don't install or Uninstall certain hardware.

[Q] Custom Roms freeze when booting after flash

Hi All,
Seem to have a slight problem with flashing Custom Roms onto my GNex at the moment. Not too sure what's causing it to freeze when booting up. All I get is the X logo and will stay there until the battery dies.
I'm able to revert back to a Google rom and regain use of my phone. Just can't seem to flash any custom roms at all. It's happened with CM10.1, CM10, XenonHD Stable-2.0, Minoco.
I've attempted to flash with CWM and TWRP. Both get the same results. Prior to flashing I've whiped both the Cache and Davlik.
I have previously used CM9 and older versions of Minoco on this device. So seems odd that this is happening now.
Any advise or ideas towards what I should look at would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Drav
you have wipe data before flashing different roms... dirty flashing(only wipe cahce and dalvik) is only if you are updating the same rom.. this is how i normally flash ALL roms
1. wipe data/factory reset
2. wipe system
3. wipe cache
4. wipe dalvik cache
5. flash rom
6. flash gapps
7. reboot
8. wait 10 mins then do another reboot
9. enjoy
PS- the 10 min wait and reboot is soemthing i do that IMO lets the new rom settle
Thanks k786,
It's booted up in a custom rom now after following those step by step. Much appreciated! :good:
Cheers,
Drav

Every custom recovery acts different and does not wipe correctly

Hi,
I have been trying to install Cyanogenmod correctly for a long time. Every time I try a new recovery I get different results. Here is the path I follow;
1) With Odin 3.04 install DLL7 Turkey ROM,
2) wipe everything from the settings menu
3) Don't let the phone start go into recovery mode and wipe everything again (stock recovery here)
4) Flash DLL7 again (this is the interesting part after clean install of official ROM there is nothing in the gallery, Normally pictures and a video should be there)
5) after starting the phone put CM and Gapps into storage
6) restart the phone into download mode
7) here is the changing part; install a custom recovery
8) I used to use super wipe script before and flash Cm later. But then later I have decided not to use it as no one was saying so.
9) I wipe everything and install CM and Gapps as stated
10) wipe /data and /cache
Here are the differences; If I use CWM 6 which comes with the SuperSU (the older version) everything works normal and I see Samsung pictures and World of Nature video on the gallery even though I have wiped everything.
If I use TW recovery 2.3.3.2 to install CM then sensors are not working. The screen does not turn and go of during calls.
If I use newer CWM 6.0.2.7 then it works again but I can't see the pictures and videos. This leads me to believe it has a faulty wiping ability.
I wish I would be able to super clean everthing without leaving a trace and then install CM 10.1 and Gapps but I guess CM 10.1 needs the remainings of the /system folder since the NFC is not working on the 9300 without a ICS preinstalled.
So what do you recomend to install CM 10.1 as clean as possible?

[Q] Performance

I follow the same steps every time I flash a ROM, and even when updating a ROM:
1) Full Wipe
2) Install ROM from ZIP in Recovery
3) Flash Boot in Bootloader
4) Install GApps if needed
5) Reboot
I use TitaniumBackup to backup and restore my data and programs which is always a smooth process.
Usually a ROM is pretty stable for the first day or so, but even the best performing ROMs seem to clog up after a couple of days. I regularly clear the cache and dalvik. Is this just a characteristic of custom ROMs, or am I not doing something correctly?
To clarify, when I say clog I mean general freezing, processes force closing, keyboard disappearing and reappearing, MMS wonky (works when it feels like it), in the latest ROM that I am running Voice search worked initially and now force closes every attempt to use it.
A reboot a day keeps lags away
Yes it is clearing cache once a week helps...just schedule ur titanium backup to clear cache and reboot while u sleep
