If only I could have waited....I just bought a Sammy 32gb Class 10 card for $30 shipped, just $20 and I could have gotten double the storage and a faster card even though this one is just a Class 6. Jump on it guys, this is the best prices I've seen this go for yet!
Just bought two Hopefully can flip the second one to make mine super cheap. Came just in time too, getting a galaxy S3 soon and gonna move my old 16GB into my new nook color.
just ordered mine!!!
How does this compare (other than obviously double the size) to my 32Gb Class 10 Micro SD card? Is this thing faster than my card, even though this new one is a class 6?

I went ahead and ordered this one. I had a $25 Best Buy gift card that I was waiting to use, so with tax this card was only $29!
My current card gets 8.9 MB/s Write and 20.8 MB/s Read. If this new card doesn't match those numbers, I'll just Ebay this thing and make a bit on it and keep my current card. If this new card is faster, it'll pair quite nicely with my 32Gb Blue SG3 that I ordered! Thumbs up to the Op, thanks!
Doesn't look like we even have these in Canada. Boo!

ended up costing me like $34 since I had a gift card floating around from probably a year and half ago. Great Find
DAMNIT! I gotta stay out of this forum. Great deal, but I need to hold off if I can. My uncle works for a company in Cali that makes SD cards. He is sending me a couple 32GB Micro SD's for free. Love to buy this, but a free 32 will do me just fine.
horrible write spd. especially since we're dealing with 64gb it matters much more now. i'll pass

i think its in reference to the class 6, I dont understand it myself but the card boasts up to 30 megs, but then calls itself class 6. Reading on Sandisk's website it says that the "class" rating is "worst case" scenario. The Class 6 seems to be geared for specs on video data while the 30 megs a sec spec talks about picture data.
could anyone clear up the info? ty
The SGS3 supports exFat, the recommended format to get the maximum speeds from these cards.
Other phones using this card were or are formatted as Fat32 which are not the correct format to take full advantage of this cards perks.

that is supposed to be uhs-i capable and the 30mb/s it's advertising is for the read speed. that's just strategy for companies, because they know not everyone sees the * and then reads the fine print for its description.
and as it says in sandisk's website the write speed is slower, that's where the class rating comes in it will write at speeds it is rated.
30mb/s read speed is achievable if the gadget reading the card is also uhs-i compliant.
the class ratings shows that their cards will reach it's class rating's read and write speed.knowing sandisk their speeds usually exceed their class rating's speed. class 6 will read and write at least 6MB/s, class 10 will read and write at least 10MB/s
http://www.sandisk.com/products/mob...crosdhc-and-microsdxc-uhs-i-cards-for-android
according to that only the 4gb is class 6.
8gb and up are all class 10.
btw, op's pic is different from sandisk's website.

this is the official sandisk's:
it doesn't have the 1 that is enclosed, which is UHS Speed Class 1 (U1)
I was reading this
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1996/kw/class
and it talks about
Rated Speed (e.g. 15MB/s, 30MB/s, etc.) is maximum speed of the card and also what you would expect to approximately see in typical usage of writing or reading files on the card. This measurement is pertinent to still photography, especially for taking pictures with high resolution and/or saving in RAW format where the files created are very large.
and
Speed Class is a minimum speed based on a worst case scenario test. The Speed Class is important for video mode or camcorders, where the device is actually saving a steady stream of data.
It definitely is worded weird, maybe to confuse but it kind of sounds like 30MB/s is what you "could" see under optimal conditions where the device supports such speeds too. But, what do i know.

theres nothing to prove its listed on sandisk website and everywhere amazon
up to 30 mb/s read (reviewers get around 18mb read)
up to 30 mb/s write (reviewers get around 8mbs write)
I got one of these about 1 1/2 months ago when they were on sale, packaging said class 6.

Looking for suggestions. first of all, has anybody filled up the packaged 8gb memory on your phone? and if you've upgraded your SD card, please let me know what kind and how much, I saw a 16gb mircroSDHC from newegg but the reviews were not so great:
*well apparently I cannot post outside links
but here is the item number from newegg.com N82E16820139121
I upgraded to a Winston 16GB Class 10, I got about 4GB's left due to music and movies
Upgraded to a WinTec 16GB class 6 on the first day! It worked awsome!
using the 16gb sandisk that came with my HD2...works fine, (didn't work for crap in the HD2 though). I do not keep a lot of music on it anymore now that I use Slacker almost exclusively...but I do have a couple movies on there at the moment.
I am using the 8GB that came with my MT4G in my HD2 to run Android (works fine as well)
I'm sure you shouldn't have a problem with anything up to a 32gb...just buy from a respectable seller, I have heard a lot of horror stories about cards off ebay
cool, thanks fellas, looks like I'll just go with a 16gb gonna go for a class 10 one.

i'd recommend class 6 since the hardware can barely read as fast as a class 10 card.
but if you wanna spend the extra bucks on wasted speed, go ahead =P
I took the 16gb class 6 sd that came in my Fender mytouch and popped it in. Ive got about about 4.8gb left with music, movies and roms on it. Since there arent any roms that use ext or swap yet, theres really no way to tell how well it functions other then the music and the movies play fine lol

I bought a 32gb memory card class 4 from Adorama for 99.99 with free shipping. Got it and made sure I ran a speed tester on it and it passed. No complaints... however took forever to arrive lol I'm a music junkie and I was about dead by the time I got it because by then I had already sold the one preinstalled.

ok, so I got a 16gb card class 10 for 30 bucks from the egg, can I just copy/paste everything over from my stock card onto the new one and my phone should work just fine but with the extra storage space correct?

I've narrowed down my choices for my new 16GB card to the Wintec Class 10 on Newegg for ~30 or the Komputerbay Class 6 for ~40. Only the reviews so far are making it a tough decision. Will you guys with either card please revisit this thread next week and post your findings after repeated use?
Posting Findings
Got my 16GB Wintec Class 10 in the mail on Friday.
Tested with CrystalDiskMark 64-bit using the prepackaged SD adapter in my laptops SD slot 3 times each.
Sequential Reads 13MB/s+
Sequential Writes 11-12MB/s
I'm impressed. I will continue to use and report back findings.
Going to get my wife one for her MT4G and another one for the Nook Color (X-mas gift) I will be getting.
EDIT:
Tested the stock SanDisk 8GB Class 4 that came with the phone:
Sequential Read : 11 MB/s
Sequential Write: 5.3 MB/s
slightly above the Class 4 rating. Going to keep this card as my 'Movies' card for long trips and such.
Tested my Transcend 8GB Class 6 from my G1:
Sequential Read : 12.5 MB/s
Sequential Write: 6.0 MB/s
Just meeting Class 6 requirements. Will put my daughter's movies on it.

I think I will take door #3 as it is a one day sale(today). Even though less known than newegg or amazon, 1daysale.com has been around for awhile. A sandisk for $35 shipped...I'll bite.
After all, my Droid Charge has a sandisk class 4 and works great.
Pic with Epic Touch
think there are better deals out there try to google it instead of going to ebay and amazon first. think i found some 10 sandisk for 60 32gb
I picked up the 1daydeal one also. Good price as long as its legit.

You have to be careful of fake cards. I haven't bought from 1daydeal myself but many people over at slickdeals say they are fine...only complaint is a little slow to ship.
I've read that some class 10 cards not well supported with other recent Android phones...not sure about the ET4G though.
The biggest thing I've seen class of a card affect is video, that is when the video device is recording to the SD card. I don't have a card in my ET4G atm but to those who do, are videos you take written to the card or to the internal memory?
i just ditched my 32gb class 2 and ordered a 32gb class 10 to see if it helps w/ the 'wake' delay. right now w/ no sd card, there is no delay..w/ the class 2 card, there was about a 2 second delay after pressing the power button.
Does class 10 VS. class 6 make a difference with regards to our phones?
Sent from my ep4gt using XDA Premium
For live recording video or pics, use camera memory for fastest speed...then move to card for storage.
Intuitively, I'd think for these phones - who cares?
My last phone - different story!
I had a MyTouch 3G that was rooted and running CyanogenMod 6, with Apps2SD because the phone had almost no onboard storage. In THAT case, since my apps were being installed to the SD card, the speed (class) of the SD card was directly proportional to the responsiveness of the phone.
And even with a class 6 card in my phone, you'd never want to install an app to the card that had a widget you were using.
With this phone however, I doubt I'll run out of local app storage space (or, it'll be a sign I should be doing some clean up work), so I'd just be using the SD card for storing pics and music.
I'd check NewEgg for cards, they have good prices, better than Ebay and Amazon.
May be the last time that occurs. I just read an article stating the Samsung is going to start the mass production of it's on line of SD Cards. Samsung is nuts. If something is too expensive and effects their bottom line they just make it themselves and get into that market.
I have a bunch of 4GB and 8GB microsd cards, and I have noticed that the class 4 sandisk are faster than the pny, patriot, and Samsung class 6 I have. The class 2 sandisk and Samsung I have are faster than my pny class 4.

Too right. My Class 2 Sandisk card benchmark write speeds are ~5.5MB/s - enough for HD encoding and decoding.
Wonder if anyone has tried these in an Epic 4G yet?
deleted for dumb.
Class 10 cards have longer random access times than class 4 cards i believe
So only get a class 10 card for shooting HD video, for apps, lower class cards are superior
Ok, I paid $99 for a 32GB when it first came out over a year ago and I filled it fast... Why am I so tempted to order a $225 64GB card from SanDisk right now?

You didn't notice the video posted in this thread of a 64GB micro SDXC working in the galaxy S2...
PCMag specifically tested the 64gb card in an Epic 4g Touch and a number of other android devices and reports it works.
Personally I'm going to wait a month or two for the cards to start showing up at online retailers at a lower price, $219 is just too rich for my blood.

Can't comment on that card but did get a Samsung 16GB class 10 and then found out (after I'd ordered it) that class 4 are the best for phones as you tend to be writing mixed content. Apparently the c10 cards are not optimised for this and can be slower than c4. I can say that I recently connected my Note as a USB device to write a 2.5GB video to my SD card and got over 10MB/sec so am very happy to have gone for the c10 version.

Careful! I have ordered one of these (Lexar 32GB Class 10) from Amazon. At first it worked fine but after a few days the phone started showing "SD Card Damaged" and it wouldn't access it at all. Formatting didn't help. Yet, it would work just fine in an USB adapter in a PC...
The weirdest thing is that the EXACT same thing happened with my second Note (I returned the first one to Expansys and got one from Amazon.de £70 cheaper . No comprendo.
(When I checked kernel logs (dmesg) on the Note, there was a problem right on the block layer... It couldn't read the raw device (sdc))
Exactly the same problem with the Lexar 32GB Class 10 for me as well in both the GNote and GS2. Never had a problem with any form of SD card in the past. RMA'd the Lexar and will probably try a Samsung Class 10 next.

I have the same card but get 11.39 write and 14.01 read
I did start a thread long time ago
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150369
There is no real advantage of class 10 over class 4 in a mobile phone, where random read write is the key thing.
However I have seen good class 10 cards with good random read write speeds.
See towards the last few pages of the above thread.
If u can find the random read write of samsung class 10 , it would be great to know.
Hello Let me get staight to the point....So after 3 months of owning my s2 I just realised that the sd card in it was a 8gb class 2 micro sd card. And that just won't do! So I've been scouring the internet for some kind of a good sd card. Of course I want the best for the best right? So I've been trying to find a 16GB class 10. But I don't want to pay too much money for it.
So I've found this sd card:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0054KHY8C/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_g147_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1Y1NVT4GBQ6KCPJC1XEG&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294
And this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00698ZUHK/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_g147_i7?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1Y1NVT4GBQ6KCPJC1XEG&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294
So can anyone help me choose a right one? and maybe provide some links? I would really be glad if it was on amazon.co.uk only
Thanks a lot
i don't think that a class 10 card will be that much different from class 6 card for use with the SGS2.
you better stick with SanDisk Or Samsung cards , even if they are a little expensive but they are good quality.
Good supplier good brand name is all i would bother with . Been running a no name class 2 16Gb for months no problems . But it would have been a own brand product from one of the big outlets probably Amazon .

Class 4 is fast enough I think. Using a sandisk 32gb class 4 with no issues at all regarding read/write speed.
Here's my 8gb integral ultima pro class 10, its pretty fast.

Hello Let me get staight to the point....So after 3 months of owning my s2 I just realised that the sd card in it was a 8gb class 2 micro sd card. And that just won't do! So I've been scouring the internet for some kind of a good sd card. Of course I want the best for the best right? So I've been trying to find a 16GB class 10. But I don't want to pay too much money for it.
So I've found this sd card:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0054KHY8C/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_g147_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1Y1NVT4GBQ6KCPJC1XEG&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294
And this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00698ZUHK/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_g147_i7?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1Y1NVT4GBQ6KCPJC1XEG&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294
So can anyone help me choose a right one? and maybe provide some links? I would really be glad if it was on amazon.co.uk only
Thanks a lot

Samsung one is fake
if u wanna buy a good card for less go for samsung 32gig class 10 card ( try to find orignal
Transcend 16GB Class 6, quite a performer with Class 10 speeds.

i've got mine sandisk 32gb class 4 cause i need a lot of space for music and some movies...pretty good for 243 saudi riyals.
Stick with sandisk or transcend and you won't go wrong. In terms of class, i don't think it will make that big of a difference on your phone. Just stick above class 4 and you should be fine.
Hey
I got one of these. its a great cards for the money and its from a trustable source as there are many fakes out there

I am waiting for this one to my S2: SanDisk 32GB Mobile Ultra Micro SD (SDHC) Card - Class 10 UHS-1
what do you think?
Definitely one of the best! Good choice. I'm waiting for the same one!

I would never buy anything other than sandisk. Got countless ones knocking around in various sizes and classes, been trodden on, dropped in water, in and out of different phones, into readers upside down and back to front and never an ounce of problems. Rock solid.
I can just confirm that, tried with others but finally I have always bought sandisk. Now the only other card is 8GB which I get in Nokia 5800 sales pack.

I bought http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/...s/MB-MSBGA/EU?subsubtype=micro-sd-accessories and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I had crazy luck with the store which was selling it under the real price and bought it for only ~25 euros. Two days later (and ~20 more sold microsd cards to all my friends) they corrected the price.
Anyways, being class 10, this card is awesome. Read speeds are very high, and I don't see any difference between the internal memory and this card either, although I haven't done any real tests, just the everyday usage.
Also, I have huge amount of it filled with music and pictures, and the phone seems to cope with it just fine, so I give you full recommendation for this one.
PS: It came with two year warranty, even here in Serbia!
Always buy Sandisk Also I think the class difference is only apparently when taking HD videos to prevent stuttering when recording.

The class rating of your micro SD card generally defines how quickly information can be read from or written to the card.
If you’re recording a lot of high-definition videos and snapping high-megapixel shots, Class 6 and above is enough.Higher number will ensure that your device won’t slow down between shots.
So now that my card is corrupted, I've narrowed down my options to two cards. I don't need 64 GB, but I do need speed. I transfer a large amount of files, so Class 10 is a must. 32 GB is perfect.
A Samsung 32 GB Class 10 microSDHC card, found here. Perks are waterproof, shock-proof and magnet-proof. Or says it is, according to the Samsung site.
A SanDisk 32 GB UHS Class 1 microSDHC card, found here. Perks is the fact that it is UHS.
Seeing as how I have not bought high-quality cards in the past, opinions are welcome!
Sad owner of a bricked Evo, but the Samsung Moment forum is filled with crickets....
I say go with Sandisk. Never tried a samsung memory card but Sandisk hasnt let me down yet.

Either maker will be a good choice but what you want to mainly look at is the CLASS number.
A class 1 card will have a sustained max speed of 1Mb with is agonizingly slow and by default the Class 10 will be 10MB.
Samsung, Kingston, Patriot, Sandisk, Crucial are all decent makers of SDcards but be sure you get the speed also.

I believe I understand the class system. The main reason behind me asking is because of UHS - supposed to be faster than Class 10.
I've always used smaller-capacity, slower cards because they are oftten scattered around the house, but it is about time for an upgrade. Haven't heard of UHS so I figured I would ask around.

DO NOT count on a a class 10 card giving you 10Mbs transfer speeds. I bought a class 10 PNY and get very inconsistent speeds(using sd speed test). i get anywhere between 6.5 and 8 Mbs, usually around 7.6Mbs. you may want to test some different ones or post in Q & A and see what results others are getting with different cards. No sense in buying a class 10 if class 6 wil yield the same results.
of course my read speeds are around 31Mbs, but it seems write speeds suffer greatly on these phones.

With ANY type of benchmark system you will get results all over the place. I can tell you on my Patriot 16gig class 10 in the real world of transferring files to and from my phone a consistent 10mb+ is the norm.
This is like those who base a ROM's quality and speed on Quadrant. That has to be the worst bench app I have ever seen and the results mean NOTHING in the real world on how a phone or ROM will perform.
class 4 32gb here. very happy with the results. running a2sd with dalvic and data to sd and runs smooth here are some of my test results

go for the class 10 one
Looked more into UHS. UHS-1 has a theoretical speed of 50 MB/s. Blows away Class 10's speed of 10 MB/s.
I would suggest looking up UHS cards. Among other sites, I used Wikipedia.http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#section_3
Thanks for all of the help! Will hit the thanks button!

I've always been partial to Lexar. I've found it to be fast enough to capture hi-def video.
I have used 2Samsung 1lexar 6sandisk 1Kingston ..the Samsung gave me the most problems errors the rest I still use just bought card readers and use most of em like flash drives I was looking at the 64 gb cards even though not officially supported can't get a confirmation whether these work or not......still searching here.....sandisk all the way never had a problem with them

I wonder if for recording video, a cheap class 3 will do?
The best sd cards to get are 32GB class 10's,most systems will support 32GB beter than 64GB.
I buy the random read write Class 6 vs Class 10 argument when speaking of mediocre quality cards.
Class 6 32GB.
i wouldn't worry about UHS cards as they require a different voltage to achieve that speed. the evo isn't capable of the higher voltage, causing them to fall back to a standard class 10 rating. within the class rating system, it'll still vary, my class 4 beats out my class 10 in both reads and writes. san disk cards have definitely lasted me longer in overall life, samsung has also been very good to me. bad experience with lexar and a-data.
