Whenever I flash a sense rom it always freezes after 30seconds of use and everything forcr closes but then once when I had no sd in everything worked perfect and no lag. What could be the issue ?

I have class 4 and got no problems and i use sense roms.
Do u leave the phone settle for 10 mins after u install the rom? If u dont do that with sense 3.5 runnymede, rsk etc etc it will force close & freeze

Dual boot

Hi i was wondering if it is possible to dual boot on the htc desire. (Two different roms)
Thanks
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Well technically yes and there was also a mod once which would let you boot a second Rom from the sd-card.
But since the desire has such a low internal memory there will never be space for 2 roms, and running one completely from SD-card is very baggy, so there is no official way, but if you are good enough at coding yes you will be able to.
Even tho i have a class 10 card will.it be laggy

[Q] New desire user... please help me!

Hi, i'm a new desire user coming from wildfire.
The development of desire is very new to me so I need some help with it.. When i bought my desire it was already rooted by the previous owner, so how do I tell which HBOOT version mine is, the CM7 one or the stock one. Next, I was wondering if there was any battery mod that's free similiar to the CirclesMod by Hoolm. Lastly, is it very normal for the battery usage to be about 80% on screen and eveything else under 9% when you check about phone>Battery?
Please help me, thanks in advance~!
1st question. Turn phone off. Restart phone with volume down held and power on. Post everything the screen says.
The screen does usually chew up most of the battery

On my bootloader screen,
Bravo pvt3 ship s-on
Hboot 0.93.0001
So what's this?
And the battery drains so fast that I have to recharge after using 6-6 hours .. I tried calibrated but no difference.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
as you are s ON you are on stock one... For battery mod try uot kitchen... Battery drain can be rom related... or Heavy usage?
I'm using stock rooted Rom so I doubt the battery is caused by the Rom.. is it better to use this mod that you recommend or flash a undervolted mod that is provided on the Rooted stock Rom thread page?
And thanks everyone for the advices so far, really appreciate it!

Hi i always go for under-volt as battery is better... so have a look in development which ROM you like.... at the moment im using cool3d sense aces s from coolexe... few modification posted by the other from the thread on top of that...
or try to flash new kernel from snq or bananacakes... they allow you to overclock and undervolt... MAKE BACK UP BEFORE FLASHING
Ok I shall take a look at the various kernels available. I have another problem now, whenever I charge my desire, it will never reach 100%, and only 99% as the maximum. I have calibrated the battery so I'm unsure why do I have this problem..

The one where i tried to charge it till full when powered off then wipe battery stats
99% is a normal issue (from personal experience).
Very rarely, I get it at 98%.
The trick is to unplug your charger, let it sit for a little while (let the percentage go down by 1 or 2) then recharge it. I also recommend you use an AC charger for this as I have found that I usually get this "problem" when charging from a computer.
I managed to solve this 99% glitch by reflashing the entire Rom... So its working fine now.
I was thinking of flashing other roms but seems they require partition of SD card.. I don't have a usb card reader so how can I partition it then?
Sorry I think I have never ending questions..
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
get a reader?
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
So means no other way to partition it? Cos I have a built in SD card reader but I can't seem to get it to work with Gparted...
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
You can partition your card in recovery also
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
Which recovery? I'm using clockworkmod recovery. Is it able to do so?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
In clockworkmod recovery 5.0.2.0 it is possible, but i guess older versions also should be able to do it also...
But i know for a fact that version 2.5.X.X can't, so if you are using so old version, then you can't...
Flash the latest recovery...

Try putting the sd card into the reader while Gparted is initializing.

Video Problems? LAG?!

Ok so this has annoyed me for ages now and I can't figure out whats the problem, even after 10-12 hours of searching. Basically if I don't have a SIM Card in my phone, videos (Youtube & recorded ones) play perfectly well, no problems. When there's a SIM Card in it when I play a video (both of the above) O get a white flash for a second and the video lags but the audio comes through fine. Any suggestions?
INFO:
HTC Desire HD (Inspire 4G in the USA)
2.3.5 stock OTA update
Sense 3.0
Crap load of apps (NOT THE PROBLEM)
No Root
S-On
I do know a little about Android (might be Root & S-Off soon) but not too much. Help would be appriciated a lot!

A bit more of a drastic fix would be to switch from stock to a custom rom like IceColdSandwich i moved from stock to this and the speed differentness in the rom is huge! tho you do lose sence

Currently I'm using the Android Revolution HD 7.0.4 and I don't have any lag. It runs smooth
try another sim and see if the problem persist. It happened to me once, i never noticed till i switch on simlock.
The was some minor scratches on the sim which cause difficulties for the phone to read it. Indirectly, the phone allocates certain amount of resource to load/read the sim repeatedly which MAY(or may not) explain your lags.
Just sharing my personal experiences, this may or may not be the case for you. Do try other suggestions as well. Btw, im using MOBO player as my video player.
The main thing I'm worried about is Youtube, cause I watch a ton of videos before I sleep (oh the joys of insomnia!) So if that goes im kinfa screwed. The 3rd party video player solved the lag for the locally stored videos (ones on the SD Card) btw

stock is very slow and eventually lagged with me too ... one thing i did at the time was used timelines app whenever the phone would slow down to see what was using up the cpu.... turned out the sense app " stocks" was going crazy and loading up by itself and taking up most of my cpu when i was on other apps even though i had never used it before. terminating it and eventually uninstalling the app solved it for me at the time ( had to get root and titanium backup for that. ) hope this helps.. ..

if you prefer ginger, try blackice. It's based on cm as well, if u wanna try ics, definitely IceColdSandwich.

I've heard the camera doesn't work on ICS properly.
CM7 seems to do the job but battery life isn't all that good (ARHD maybe?)
camera works without an issue. only stock videocam doesn't work. which you can use aftermarket app such as illusion videocam.
well... blackice gave me the best battery among the roms I've played around with... but if you like sense, arhd is the best gingerbread sense rom.

Try CM7 RC3 with LordModUE 8.9b7 kernel (there's a thread in the Development section). Set your CPU settings under CM settings to 122-1152 MHz with smartassv2 governor. With that kernel and those settings I got a little more than 4 hours of continuous screen on time with auto brightness the whole time. That's awesome for this phone.

Icecoldsandwich 8.2 AOKP-Sim / Reboot

Icecoldsandwich , great ROM, very quick, fantastic battery
But...
Today it rebooted because of some unknown reason, Then it was because I inserted my already existing Sim card?

Have you done a full wipe before flashing. Also are you running the cfs kernel because its known to have reboots which I deal with and don't mind. Try flashing the bfs kernel its more stable but battery is not as good as cfs. Both can be found in LCs kernel download page just place on sd then in recovery wipe dalvik then flash.

Sometimes after a random reboot it displays a dialog to restart because SIM is changed, but ignore that. Usually this happens with CFS kernel and rarely with BFS kernel. This isn't a problem with the kernels, rather something in the ROM is causing buggy behaviour with CFS.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Changed to "BFS kernel" , no random restarts but changed back to the "CFS" due to networking errors ( phone switched to roaming mode of its own volition using "BFS" )
Thanks for the reply's

Phone lag - full SD card?

Hi all,
Had a weird issue with my HOX that nearly caused me to throw it out of the window. Kept wiping and reinstalling and getting massive lag - seems that if I have less than a couple of GB free on the internal SD card, it throws a wobbler and goes *incredibly* slowly. Anyone else seen this? Is this considered normal?
It does it when you copy big amounts of media, while the phone is cacheing it all.
I but 16gb of music and my hox went slow for about a week.

It's a known bug, when it runs low on memory it will get slow. Just delete some **** you don't need.
