Chainfire is a person he makes apps and utilities for Android devices.

Yes, I meant Chainfire 3D. Mainly for Tegra 3, if it ever happens...

If you want to play those games, go for it. It won't give you a performance boost or anything..

I feel the same way. The stock ICS seems to be a lot faster than the MCR's at the moment - not sure why.
The only reason to root is to get things such as Ad Free, Full Backups, Underclock CPU when screen off, Apply Paul's UI tweaks.
Obviously things will grow in the future. If you do it now, then you dont risk the chance of losing the ability to in the future (doubtful that will ever happen with a Nexus)

Here's a much better question OP... Any reason to not root it?
The big ones for me are AdFree and Titanium Backup.
To improve battery life.

This is the first Android OS where it seem so much useable and stable, that I see no use to root. This coming from a primarily IOS guy. I hope I don't have to root.

by rooting?
Reason #1: to customize the device by playing with the system files
I will need to root my Galaxy Nexus (when I get one) so I can connect my PS3 controller up and play emulator games.

Is it possible to connect a PS3 controller and play games with current devices today? If yes, could you point me to the application
I will only root if a kernel with ridiculous battery life surfaces. Otherwise this may be the first Android phone I really see no reason rooting. Strange thought.

If you are here, you should root. Ad free and Titanium back up are worth it by themselves.

AdFree is pretty silly IMO. Blocking connections using the host file? Really? I guess the creators don't know what a firewall is or how to use iptables.

N64oid works reasonably well. force GPU rendering in dev>settings. it might not actually help. but it seemed to for me.
also, be sure to clear out your recently running tasks. super smash bros is a bit laggy unless you do these things.
FPse and gameboid are working just fine for me. Are you downloading the files you need to get each emulator up and running?
Just played Chrono Trigger on SNESoid

yea I tried to install chainfire to play cod zombies and made my nexus not boot at all it just kept getting stuck on the "Google"screen. Zombies works on my 3d without chainfire so Im guessing qualcomm/adreno devices are the only one's supported right now.

The app is not compatible with our device or Tegra 3 for that matter. I would advise people to stop trying their luck until the app is updated. Instead contact the developer and ask for support for tegra 3.
I think it's not updated to work with Jelly bean. It doesn't boot on my Kindle Fire either (running cm10)

I know I know, I knew I would get looked at weird. Everyone is thinking "If you wanted this you shouldn't have bought a Nexus phone" Well I like change and stock just gets old really fast. I love how touchwiz jelly bean looks and all the features are, and I have already put my phone up for trade for an SGS3 on craigslist and haven't gotten a reply yet. So far I have been offered 2 epic 4g touches, 2 htc evo 3d's, and an iphone 4. So not much.

Unfortunately no since both of the other Tab 3 variants use different CPUs. Think at this point it may be some time before anything gets going on the 10.1. I'm not really sure what the stigma is here it seems to be a pretty good performing tablet would be nice to have root to remove the bloatware and make better.

I don't think that it's necessarily a dead device just need someone to actually take a look at it instead of believing that theirs nothing good about it. From what I've seen so far it seems to have good battery life and not half bad in performance either and contrary to what I've seen in the reviews the GFX performance it actually also very good as well it beats my TF700 pretty solidly though resolution may be a factor there.

Really looking forward method to obtain root ...

Development will start on 10'1
Im working also on stock rooted rom, and trying to get a recovery as well.
I don't have the device yet, so if you have it, and gained root... I would like some files:
recovery.fstab
graphics.c
postrecoveryboot.sh
If someone is able to get those after you have root, and get them to me... a CWM recovery is on the way
