[REQ] Speed up notification LED - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

Hello, as per the title, anyone know of or can whip something up that would speed up the notification flash of the LED?
I find that you often have to spend a good few seconds looking at the device to see if the light is flashing ...admittedly it doesn't sound a lot but its pretty easy to miss a flash.
I'd prefer to see at a glance if I have a message... maybe a flash every couple of seconds or something.
Surely I can't be alone in thinking the flashes are too far apart at the moment?
Cheers

I just use Go SMS Pro which has an option to use LED Notifications with settings and have it set to flash at very fast and white which looks great

Check around here few threads already about LED notification. The best one i found is LIghtflow, u can customize the rate of flash even always on option.

I use Light Flow app it lets you change the colour and the speed of flash of notification LED

To bad lightflow makes the phone talk like crazy >.<
I hade to uninstall it.
The light version worked but when i bought it and after a reboot the stupid phone talked the crap out of me and made me uninstall it with no way to get a refund due to the time that hade passed before i rebboted the phone in order to flash new CWM.
I say go with the go sms pro and hoe the phone keeps talkback away.

Perhaps you can try this app to select LED notification color or its flashing frequency

SMS LED Notification

Hey, i was just wonder if this is normal or not but about 5 minutes after receiving a SMS the LED will stop flashing even though i have not turned the screen on yet to check it
is this meant to happen and if so is there a way in which i can change it to continue flashing any amount of time until i check my phone?
Thanks.
I think with the Handcent SMS app you can set 'reminders' to every 5 mins. So it should continually flash till you check it then.
I've not actually tried this but the theory is there!
thanks for the quick reply, but i was hoping there was a way with the default messaging program
Annoyingly, I don't think there is. I'd recommend having a look at Handcent though, it's a cool app.
that's rather annoying, but o well i guess, other then this I've been loving the phone
Try Missed Reminder from the market. Works good on my device.
I asked HTC about this, and it is is true, the LED flashes for 5mins then stops.
I didn't like the Handcent reminder simply because when it restarts the notification, it makes the sound like it's got another message. I just wanted to know I've got something to check rather than hear it go off every 5mins or whatever you set it to.
But this is a personal annoyance. I can see that many wouldn't mind this.
Missed Reminder was another option to definitely try to see if it's for you.
Thanks for the replies guys, I'll give Missed Reminder ago, seems odd that they wouldn't allow for a option to let it flash for longer, is this only for SMS or does it also stop after 5 mins for all LED notifications?
all notifications stop after 5mins. What's the point in having the led?

Yeah..5mins for sms/missed call...constantly if your battery is low
Are you guys sure that the LED stops blinking after 5 mins? In hTC's there is an option in settings (I forgot where exactly) which will allow you to set different times, 5,10,15 mins and even there is an option for continuous blinking. So please recheck the settings (in sound & notifications maybe) and then confirm it.
Thanks.

That was the case for Windows mobile phones. there is no option in android to set this.

That is so weird. Isn't there any solution for this?
The Missed Reminder app does the job. You can customise it quite a bit. I just set all notifications to blink the LED forever.

Tried this app, but doesnt work correctly. Sure it will continue to blink the LED, but the notification sounds do not work correctly - i.e they dont sound on reapeat alarms. Shame as it looked a nice app.
Message from developer
I have no plans yet to release a special version for 2.x at least not until I’ve got my phone updated to 2.1.

How many LED notification colors are there when using Light Flow?

For those with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, how many different color notifications are there for the LED when you use Light Flow?
17 colours to choose from on mine, it seems.

But will the phone display all those 17 or only say 4?
The Nexus has a RGB LED so any of the 17 colors can be mixed without a problem.
Why don't you try it by yourself? Lazy?
Despite that I have 19 colors to choose from on my GSM Nexus with Light Flow (paid).
Just a quick warning from my experience with Light Flow lite.
I installed the free version and it worked fine - I think I used 10 different colors and most of the time the worked well (sometimes the light would stay on when the notification was cleared).
However, I was having battery life issues so I uninstalled the application.
This actually GREATLY improved my battery life - but now my led is broken. It will only flash white, and it doesn't work for all events that it did before I used LFL. I've done a factory reset and a battery pull and the led will not go back to green.
I've emailed the developer and hope I'll get some help. It's a little hard for me to understand how this could happen and I hope I can fix it.
Just a word of caution to anyone considering using this app.

I don't think mine has ever flashed green? The stock notification for mail + sms is white, and tweetdeck is yellow... not seen anything else?
I too uninstalled Liteflow, because I found it frequently flashed forever until I rebooted when there were no notifications.
On the Nexus one, CM7 had a slider control for colors. You could create hundreds of different shades.
I think the Galaxy Nexus is the same. At this point we're only limited by software. RootzBoat rom had a LED color control built right into the general settings menu, but only had a few color selections. I used blue and I liked it alot. I don't think it allowed you to change it PER APP, but just the general color for all. Still cool to mess with again.
3rd party programs require to be run in the background as an app or service, but require constant monitoring. Kernel level control is best, but we'll have to wait for CM9 for that.

Ok then - maybe I've lost my mind! I thought I remembered it being green originally but it's entirely possible you're correct. Would make much more sense than to think that an app could 'break' the led functionality.
+1 for jmbillings.
Natively the LED is only flashing only whitish and as to be readable in a couple of threads not even that is working properly at all times.
Never had any issue with Light Flow except a not stopping notification ones a week. Bought it for Whatsapp and I'm still happy. No battery drain at all at no time.
you guys must be getting dozens of notifications in a day.
i've never even seen lightflow pop up under my battery statistics.
I use light flow on my Nexus and it works great!
Same here lightflow works great on my Nexus. And every single color I tried works. If some people are having trouble with the light still flashing even after swiping the notification away, try going into the app itself. It apparently will keep flashing until I actually check the notification out in the app.
Light flow didn't work for me, it would either flash constantly in test mode or do nothing. My LED does flash green for chompSMS but white for everything else.
light flow works 100% for me. Notifications always work and no notification his become 'stuck' when I clear it...

Well maybe it's a native problem that I'm having. It will not notify me now of a missed call or an email. The only time I'm seeing the led blink is when I get a text message.
The developer actually took the time to reply to me and make some recommendations to improve battery life.
I'll give it another try, still having intermittent battery issues but may be more related to location polling than this app.
Thanks again to the folks here who take the time to help out.

Yes, I do.
I don't see it under the native battery stats - it did show up fairly high on the list when I was using battery monitor widget.
Honestly, trying to figure out my battery issues has me suspicious of every app I install...
Works perfectly on my Verizon Nexus as well. The only hiccup is Handcent. If I dismiss the popup window on Handcent, the LED will continue to flash, until I actually go into Handcent and view the message,
I was using it to alert me if bluetooth was on, and that notification would tend to persist after I had turned bluetooth off.
For those having issues clearing the LED notifications, keep in mind just clearing the notification from the drop down won't turn off the LED. It will stay on until the notification is further acknowledged (i.e. the SMS message is 'read' under messages...or email etc).
Also, something I've found helpful is the lightflow debugger widget that comes installed with the app. From there you can clear all notifications as well as see what the last notification was
Technically the phone works well with all 17 colors - but as a male i must say that there are only approx. 8 colors existing in the world...
I think they need to combine the app (LightFlow) with the color selector from AOKP ROM. Its basically the MS Windows/Photoshop color chooser we're all used to: a circle with a slider to the right. The combination of those allows you to choose ANY color in the spectrum. And the LED will display it. (Blood red is my favorite....not as "light up your room" as the default cyan/white)
I did catch the LED lighting up yellow when I had a text that didnt get delivered....not sure if thats the SMS app Im using (GoSMS) or the kernel/ROM but something made it flash different color at different frequency.
Id love LightFlow just for all the apps it responds to....especially Words with Friends.

[Q] Notification Light Test

Does anyone know of a way to test the notification lite. I have a feeling mine isnt working anymore. I had lightflow install that was running my notification lights. As of yesteray the light doesn't come on anymore with alerts come in.
Is there a way to test in the system or somethuing to see if its still wroking? thanks
BTW im Rooted and ROMed on AOKP27.
send your self an email, or having someone text you?:????
Email yourself, or use GV to SMS yourself, etc. etc.
Check in your settings, if "Puls Notification Light" is still checked
If it is, reboot your phone. If it still doesn't work, ry a different ROM...

Light flow, notifications, missed call (or any of the apps), all the way at bottom is test. Will probably need screen off to get notification light to blink.

[Q] Just purchased, notification light not working and other questions

Hello. I purchased the Epic 4G Touch two days ago from Best Buy, and I've realised that the notification light doesn't work correctly. When it's plugged in and charging it glows red, and when it's done charging it glows blue. But when it's not plugged in and I get an email, text, missed call, voicemail or Gmail notification, the light doesn't light up. I've checked that SETTINGS > DISPLAY > PULSE NOTIFICATION LIGHT is ticked, and it was. I've unticked it, shutdown, R+R battery, rebooted and re-ticked it, and still I have no light notifications.
I haven't rooted the phone, it's basically as it was out of the box, on Android 4.0.4, FH13, using the stock messaging app, stock email app for AOL mails, and the Gmail app. I can't see in any of those apps that I have to turn on LED notification, so I don't know what I'm not doing correctly.
Second question is that the guy at Best Buy told me that I should install the Battery Charged Silencer app from play.google.com/store/apps/ details?id=cz.psencik.simple.silence so that my phone doesn't beep in the night when it's done charging, Well, that's all well and good, but my phone doesn't beep when it's done charging, and actually, I'd like it to -- at least during the day -- so how do I make it so that it does beep when fully charged?
Third, I've noticed that the phone's brightness changes occasionally, but only when I open the browser. It's isn't because of Auto brightness, because it happens when I'm stationary in a room where the lighting level hasn't changed (and I don't use Auto brightness anyways). I usually set my phone to be pretty dim, but the browser is often much brighter than that when I open it. When I'm lying in bed, especially, I don't want to get blinded or disturb "Mrs me" when I access the internet. Does the browser have it's own brightness setting? If so I can't find it, so how do I set the browser brightness to be the same as the rest of the phone's? Or do I just have a dodgy screen light?
Also regarding the stock browser, coming from an Android 2.2 handset I fully expected things to be different, but I can't get the browser to open my bookmarks or give me access to the address bar unless I scroll back up to the top of the page. Am I missing something really obvious here, or is that just how it is now? It used to be that pressing the Menu button would let me do that, but it doesn't seem to work that way any more, and it's really annoying to have to scroll to the top of a very long page when I want to go to open a new page.
Fourthly, I know that the pre-installed apps can be deleted, and might have to do it with TelenavGPS. I clicked the app, which popped up with a notification that said "An update is required". I tapped the "update now" button, which opened the browser which opened Play Store, but the Play Store says the app is up to date. Should I delete it and re-download from the Store, or just delete it and stick with the Google Maps/Google Navigation apps? Why does Sprint install this when Google's comes installed as well? Is it supposed to be better?
And the last thing I'm confused about at this point is when I'm in the app drawer and tap the Menu Button and then Edit. When I tap the minus sign next to an app, it pops up with "This application will be deleted" and a Yes and a No button, but it isn't clear (to me) whether it will get deleted from my phone or just deleted from the app drawer.
Thanks for any help or info anyone can give me about these things. I know they don't seem like major problems, but they niggle at me and I can't help but worry that I picked the wrong phone or have a faulty one (with regards to the bad notification light and random dimming and brightening at least) that I need to exchange while I'm in my return period.
Browser has its own brightness settings. Hit menu and scroll down. Its right there.
Yes the address bar will scroll out of the screen when you scroll down.
No idea about the beep. Notification led should work. May be some one stock can check on that.
Remove telenav. Use google maps.

LED used to work on gingerbread for me but never on ICS TOUCHWIZ, works on AOSP though. Since I'm in a touchwiz ROM I'm just using blink app to make it work.

Not sure about telenav, never had any issues. You have to be rooted to remove some stock apps like the Sprint and Samsung stuff and I highly recommend it.
Notification LED was broken in FF18 and FH13 OTA releases. It is now fixed in FI27 which will be available OTA soon, also available via Kies.

Touchwiz is the Samsung launcher/ui just like HTCs sense and motos blur. My phone has never beeped when it was charged, and download and install kies on your PC and see if fi27 is available. Or check the fi27 discussion thread in general sub forum

[Q] Notification light...blinks ONCE?!

Um...is the notification light supposed to blink only once? Cuz mine does and I find that pretty stupid since I'm not going to be staring at my phone 24/7. Basically defeats the purpose of having a notification light. I see an online review where the power button is supposed to light up (and again mine doesn't) as notification. Is that true? The manual doesn't say specifically... If so, I'll need to get mine fixed. Thanks.
At&t's version the power button lights up. Sprint's version- its the notification light by the top speaker, and it blinks green once every 30 seconds.
Definitely a flaw with this phone. Hopefully eventually we'll be able to fix that with a custom ROM
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Oic ....I didn't test it longer before to see that it blinks every 30s. But yeah that's a huge flaw and I can't believe I haven't read that in reviews. I actually called LG tech to inquire and the rep didn't really know what she was talking about because she 1) said all smartphones work like that (I corrected her on the AT&T version; she obviously did not know her own products) and 2) lamented that she has to turn on her phone also for notifications too (frankly I don't care). Her reponses were a bit amusing lol. I asked if there is a fix coming soon and she said "nope". And in the beginning, I asked if the notification supposed to blink only once and she said yes (no..it's every 30s).
I'm going to be rooting my phone (for the first time!) and hopefully there'll be a custom ROM that'll solve this.
There's a few apps in the play store that are supposed to be able to modify it. I only tinkered with two and had no luck. But you could look there and if one works report back here.

I have been dealing with the same issue. I want my light to blink every few seconds. I do not want to stare at my phone for 30 seconds just to know if i got a notification. I am running Lifeless rom and tried Lightflow. It works with camera LED but does not work with the light by the speaker.

On the bright side, at least you guys (most likely) can get all sorts of fancy colors on your LED once it is sorted out.
From what I hear the AT&T model is stuck with red in B.F.E.
