Hi,
I have recently rooted my phone and flashed it with aokp (the Project Kang one). Everything is okay except with whatsapping.
I can no longer send or receive images from/to others. When someone sent me an image I clicked download image but nothing happened.
Also when I send out images to others, when I select the image in the Gallery, then there is this preview tab and the error 'Failed to preview image, please try again later' pops up. When I click confirm and ok, then nothing is shared on Whatsapp.
I have the most updated version of Whatsapp and I'm using QuickPic now instead of the stock rom Gallary app (both don't work).
Anyone can help? Thanks so much in advance.
Try fixing permissions in recovery and / or clear the cache & data of the app.
Same to me on Stock 4.0.4, but I remarked this problem with many (mostly non-ICS optimized) apps.
Kinda annoying.
But what's even more annoying is that I can't even look at pictures others have sent me.

I have tried clearing the cache and data of the app, no avail
About fixing permission, how do I do that? Sorry but I am not too tech-savy on this

So how did you solve the problem? Coz i think the problem comes from whatsapp instead of the gallery thing, since the same thing happened to both the stock app and the downloaded app

I have tried fixing permission in the recovery mode, but still cannot preview the image when sharing with whatsapp :S (which means cannot download/upload image)

In this case you may want to contact whatsapp developer team directly for further info. Because it seemed more likely an Android 4.0 capability problem.

I'm having some problems with cyanogen mod, and this deals with all versions. I cannot install a single app without it force closing on launch, and I cannot get Gapps back without it causing a boot loop.
Am I missing something? I don't have these problems with other ROMS but I really want to give cyanogen a chance. Someone help! Lol.
Now titanium backup works. I just kept opening it and force closing it. But everything else still does not work. I think its time to smoke and dig on my phone.
Pointers please!
Have you tried fixing permissions in rom manager?

I was having the same problems with the newer versions of cyanogen. I just went back to a stock 2.2, re-rooted, then did a complete wipe and install and haven't had a problem since.

I ended up fixing it. I had to fix permissions on ROM Manager and on ClockworkMod. But now I can't use market, Gmail, or any Google related app.

Hi XDA, long time lurker, first time poster.
So I rooted my droid incredible yesterday evening. Everything was dandy- I installed CM7. However, this afternoon i stopped being able to use the market application - it would require a force close - both the market app and downloader. I decided to wipe everything, reinstall, and re root and do it again. I installed CM7 again, market wouldn't work. I then did a full wipe, factory reset, cache reset, davlik reset, and installed the newest nightly build of CM7. Still couldn't download from app marketplace.
I now just installed SkyRaider 4.0. I still can't download from the google marketplace on my phone. I can, however, install from the amazon app store, and when I use google's web install interface I can install the google marketplace apps from there (this also works for appbrain).
--I can use the google marketplace and appbrain marketplace on my computer, just not on my phone --
Clearly, the default android marketplace app doesn't work on my phone (and consequently appbrain as it goes through that).
How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Brian

Reboot into Clockwork recovery, there is a fix permissions options. If I remember right it is in the advanced section. Run it. It will not hurt anything it will just run script that will run through the files and fix the permission settings on them.
Fixing permissions didn't eliminate the problem.

Hello,
I recently installed [ROM]22-01-2012|LC ICS 4.0.3 - 1.0.beta4 | AOSP + CM + COMMUNITY on my Desire HD.
For the first day I had no issues and was loving it, however now I have an issue I can't quite figure out. I can browse the Market but anything I try to installed gets a 404 error. I have cleared the app cache and data and even wiped the Dalvik cache but still get this error.
I haven't flashed GAPPS yet not sure if I should or which version. ANyone else have this and know how to fix it?
Thanks for your time!

Thanks I have tried that and I get the same error. I have tried to push from my PC through the market, using the market itself and through boat browser all generating the same error.
I just reflashed the ROM as it was working but still getting that error.

I have tried to use enabler but it has changed nothing. I find it odd that I have no difficulty browsing the market, it's just the installs that fail. I have tried to install a younger version as well but Titanium Backup doesn't seem to want to remove it. I appreciate your help thus far!
Well not sure if was the enable r or what, but one thing I hadn't tried was to update an app, and that worked! After that I was able to install fresh apps. Weird. Anyway it's all good, mods can lock this thread and I appreciate your help!

Hi all,
i rooted succesfully my device following this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 in his first istance and today i do everything again with new version:
Odin_v3.09.zip (if don't have it already)
recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.7-serranoltexx.tar.zip
GT-I9195_RootKit_v2.zip
Rooting is OK but still no WiFi Tethering (both version): the net is visible but when try to access the devices go in waiting for minutes without connection (tried with other android phone, ipad and win7 pc).
Thanks in advance to the beneficent guy who want to answer me
Hi, i have rooted it that way too. And mine teethering works.
Sorry there must be another Problem. not rooting itselve
My tethering works too. Just used it to download a massive 1.5gb file over 4G.
Try wiping your cache and flashing the latest nightly?

Sorry for the noob question but what's "nightly"?
Oops my bad. Thought you mentioned that you flashed the custom ROM. The nightlies are of the custom ROM currently being developed by arco68, CM10.1.
Referring to the this post in first version there was some wifi issues, i guessed also in second.
Any other have save problem?
I have to repair my phone? :crying:

The link you pasted is for rooting. The nightlies is a cm10.1 custom rom thats being updated 'nightly' or atleast once a day. Your problem however is based on your firmware and not because of root access. Try to flash to CM10.1 (26-08-2013 version) and see of your problem still occurs.
You can find it over at the 'GS4 mini Android development' section. (sorry cant link you atm because of xda app.)

I'm not sure If you will lose data. Since I don't know if it'll format the cache /data folder and dalvik in the process.
If I for instance update my CM to a newer CM i will not lose my personal data (I do that through CWM recovery without wiping cache or dalvik), not sure if thats the same for stock to stock flashing (which you do through odin), but I believe you're safe.
Last but not least you can always flash back to the prerooted stock rom If ofc you have the firmware (with backup) or do the rooting process yourself which is fairly easy.
Or like whosat mentioned before, flash to cm10.1 (which imho is better than Samsung stock roms).

I see now, perhaps mentioning debloating in your first post would be great!
The AllShare apps is the cause of your problem, like most AllShare plugins it uses the sharing functions of the phone like Wifi tethering and the other Samsung connectivities of which most of them is considered bloatware. Removing them on stock firmware will cause some programs to not work propertly as the system still thinks the application is installed (integrated into os) while you've deleted the system/app apk from your device.

Many thanks for this input, i'm trying to restore that 2 app with ES file manager but with no fortune:

- FileShare Service return me "impossible to install"
I've also tried to brutally copy the 2 files in /system/app but it wants work (i noticed that in system/app there's a file named "AllshareFileShare.odex")
Can u plz tell me where r this 2 apk in your rom?
Thx

I know this is the most secure way but not the fastest flash, root, remove (and i don't know if every set and every data stay in its own place).
So if someone can spend 2 minutes for me i'll be very graceful
Solved!
re-flashed stock rom, re-rooted, re-debloated (this time keeping Allshare apps ).
What a mess...

GJ, that was the only way im afraid. Simply reinstalling system apps wont do the job. Good that eventually things worked out well for you.

I WAS WRONG!
Now i controlled every step and the guilty is the rooting procedure:
flashing stock rom -> ok
flashing rootkit -> ko
nothing else in the middle.
How it's possible this is a only mine problem?
Finally (after tens of attempts) i understood:
the smoked gun is in the right hand of avast (its firewall), even using white list method and (obviusly) not blocking any system app.
Is this a notorius fact?
A week back I installed Dr. Ketan ROM v8 Kitkat 4.4.2 for my Galaxy Note II. It was a clean install over stock Kitkat 4.4.2 & everything seems to be working great except for the gallery. Somehow I'm not able to see any albums or pics on my gallery app ... Pictures downloaded are getting saved & stored in My files and they open in gallery if opened individually through my files but no folders or pictures are directly displayed in the gallery app. Tried clearing cache & dalvik cache & also Gallery Cache & data ... but still nothing's working. Now i'm out of all ideas I could think of?
