Having problems booting my HTC Inspire into anything...
First I do a battery pull, & start at the HBOOT.
Best option for me at that point is RECOVERY
Once I get into the Android system recovery <3e>
I do a Wipe data/factory reset and a Wipe cache partition.
Then I try to Apply sdcard:update.zip and get
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I have tried many custom ROMs and some that claim to be stock.
I would love to get the phone just to stock at this point.
None of them booted
I rooted with the Advanced Ace Hack Kit but can't get back.
I even downloaded the RUU but the device was not recognized by either program. I do hear the Windows USB new connection alert a few times when selecting RECOVERY from the HBOOT
I am running out of ideas and looking for suggestions.

Using the Factory Recovery Option just brings me to the HTC white screen of death.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Hello. I'm new to all this. I've searched several forums for an answer to my issue, but unfortunately I haven't been able to get to a final resolution.
What's wrong?
When I boot into ClockworkMod (2.5.0.7) Recovery, I get the below:
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount cache:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount cache:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
Click to collapse
When I try to backup the current ROM, I get this:
Backing up boot...
Error while dumping boot image!
E:Can't mount cache:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
Click to collapse
When I try to flash LeeDr0iD 2.3d, I get:
-Writing boot.img
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img", "boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/LeeDr0iD.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
Click to collapse
So I thought this might be because the .zip file is corrupted or something, so I went on and downloaded and flashed the latest CyanogenMod (checked the MD5 to make sure), but it gave me the same error.
What I did to my device?
I rooted using the unrevoked method. It was pretty straight forward, just installed the Android USB drivers and ran the reflash_package.exe... At the end I checked the root access by adb shell, then su, and I got the ever-so-famous #. I noticed there was an "update.zip" in the root of the SDcard after rooting the phone, but I didn't run it.
What I gathered from my search
When I was searching I read about SPrecovery, I'm guessing it's another recovery...thingi, other than CMrecovery, but I never found a .zip file for it [maybe someone can point me to it].
I also read something about a file PC36IMG.zip, and that people have fixed this error I'm getting using that file. From what I gathered, I think that file was used in the HBOOT downgrading process (from 0.8 to 0.7-something). I downloaded this file but I didn't copy it to my SDcard because I read something I'm not supposed to "apply" it when I enter HBOOT on my phone.
I have yet to use AlphaRex 1.8 to S-OFF the NAND security, but I currently don't have a blank CD to burn the alpharev image. [Question: can I just run the "fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img" command on Windows 7, without having to boot into the Linux livecd? I already downloaded and installed the Android SDK tools =/].
My device information
HTC Desire GSM. Froyo (Android 2.2) out of the box, now running software: 2.29.405.5
And this is what appears in HBOOT:

PS: I wouldn't blame you if you hit the back button on your browser after being shocked by this long post...wait, you wouldn't be reading this if you already navigated away from the thread...ah well =/.
As you have a PVT4 Desire you need to use AmonRa instead of CWM, read the PVT4 thread in General
Use amon-ra recovery. I had the same error as you on my pv4 desire.

Ok, so I'm trying to flash the Amon-Ra recovery but I get the below error:

writing 'recovery'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 1.404s

I'm guessing this is because I do not have S-OFF yet (and I can't get S-OFF right now since I do not have a blank CD to burn the Linux livecd). So, I can just unroot the device, then root it again but point unrevoked to the Amon-Ra recovery instead of the CMrecovery, right?
Question about unrooting: Download the official RUU. Connect the phone to HTC Sync. Run the official RUU. That's it?
EDIT: Do I have to unroot then root again? Or is it possible to just run unrevoked on the already-rooted device but point it to the Amon-Ra recovery instead?
You need to be rooted to S-OFF, just run unrEVOked again and choose a custom recovery
EddyOS, thank you, and you as well drSTRIFE. I finally flashed my first custom ROM.
To whom it may concern, 'what did I do':
I tried running unrevoked but I kept getting the "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?", so I factory reset the device and gave it another try. Successfully flashed Amon-Ra. I tried flashing CyanogenMod and it was flashed successfully, but the splash screen kept looping. I only wiped the cache before, so now I wiped ALL userdata, and reflashed CyanogenMod. Now it works. Unfortunately though, I did not backup my original ROM, but I have the official RUU, so I guess that's enough if something goes wrong.
I've been searching for hours and cannot seem to find what I'm looking for so hopefully someone can help.
The situation:
I HTCdev unlocked my inc 2 about 3 days ago. I successfully rooted and installed CWM.

Recovery:

When I open recovery I immediately receive errors
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I have tried to install different roms and I attempt to flash the boot.img each time but they have all failed and cmd gets stuck at the "writing" phase of it and never finishes.
I have searched every where and I cannot seem to find what I'm looking for on how to get my Inc2 working again.
Thanks in advance for and help!
Try putting a different recovery? Twrp or 4ext
Yeah I tried flashing a new recovery but the cmd gets hung up when it goes to writing and then it just freezes. Any other suggestions?

Pretty sure its done. Had the same thing happen to my friends Dinc2. I even tried running a RUU but it had PU failures for everything. I got it to boot into the OS by having my sdcard in and flashing a recovery through fastboot but whenever I took my sdcard out it wouldn't boot. Not sure if its related to this mostly but he had the same errors and reflashing the recovery didn't work

I downloaded the latest CyanogenMod 7 with Google apps, renamed to update.zip, placed in the root of SD card, booted up the HBOOT screen (volume down + power button) and selected RECOVERY. It went into another screen where there is a phone picture with red triangle and exclamation mark in the middle, at the bottom it says "E:can't open /cache/recovery/command". I googled it up and many said to just ignore it, so I did.
Then following video guide I got up to the point where I have to install from update.zip and it fails there saying:
Finding update package
Openinng update package
Verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
So now I have no data, no cache partition and no phone.

Look for a pc49img.zip file of clockworkmod recovery for the wildfire (buzz) and put it on the root of your sdcard. Boot to hboot and let it update your recovery. Once that is done delete the file from your sdcard and boot back into hboot. Select recovery. Perform the following.
Factory reset
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Install from sdcard/choose/cyanogenmod.
Install from sdcard/choose/ gapps.
Reboot.
Allow up to 10 minutes for the first boot to work and you should be good to go.
Your problem is that the stock recovery still checks for htc signatures I believe so it won't (or will only partially flash) other firmwares.
Also this is the wrong forum, you want the (buzz) wildfire forums. This is the more up to date wildfire (marvel)

Hi all,
I have a previously rooted DHD that won't boot beyond the white HTC load screen.
The problem is that a number of things were tried on the phone to get it working again, and I think it may have made things worse, like unrooting it.
I can access the stock bootloader, this is what I get:

I think these errors are because unfortunately the SD card was wiped when trying to fix it
I've tried connecting it to a Windows PC to run the RUU but got an error about the Customer ID.
I don't care if the phone gets unrooted, or if it has an old stock rom, I just want to get the phone working again.
Does anyone have any hints for how I can fix this phone?
EDIT: I found out that this is my CID: VODAP102. Maybe I just need to correct RUU? Does anyone know which one that may be?
You have a Vodaphone German CID so if you don't find a Vodaphone German RUU for desire HD that is the same or higher from your misc version you won't be able to fix your phone. You could try to extract a rom.zip from an {RUU}.exe and you add or change your CID number with yours by editing the android-info.txt file inside the rom.zip in order you be able to flash it from your sdcard or by using the command fastboot flash zip rom.zip.(If you would like to follow this path I would suggest you to make a goldcard before you flash the zip).
If you have not a working rom or at least a working adb shell in order you make a goldcard you should try to install a custom rom to create the goldcard (I don't know if you can create a goldcard from recovery).
If any of these can help you I think the only solution you could try (and the best in my opinion) is to S-OFF your device and you change the vodaphone crap cid with SuperCID or one of your choice. After that you can install any RUU you like.
I have answered a lot of times how to S-OFF this device. You can find the answer here.
The situation you are not rooted is not a good thing because you won't have a root shell either. You could try rerooting your current rom from recovery by flashing a Superuser or SuperSU zip.You can find the latest flashable zip of SuperSU here.
** However if you want to make this proccess you must have enabled USB debugging (at least to create a goldcard as the manual describes) **
We could also help you a little bit more if you gave us the results that prints the command fastboot getvar all.
You can find Desire HD RUU's here.
