[Q] Feature-rich ICS SMS apps? - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

Does anyone know a SMS apps that looks like ICS stock SMS (I really like the look and feel) yet has more features?

GoSMS Pro has a a lot of features (not all useful) and you can set your own themes

I like handcent, you can customize just about everything. You can customize each contact's notifications, fonts, colours, background.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA

I am not aware of a way to make Handcent and GoSMS pro look ICS though. Whatever I do with them, they still look distinctively GB.

Then you clearly haven't tried the themes of GoSMS pro. There is an ICS theme (called ICS), which looks nothing like GB.

I'm using this theme for GoSMS... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms.theme.onelightblue

You clearly made an assumption that does not base on any fact. I did use GoSMS for 3-4 months, and it was the only reason I upgraded to Adromadus ROMS. I couldn't bear with it (or the GB stock SMS for the matter)
I won't argue about how it looks comparison to GB. Yet if you call it ICS -look and feel, your aesthetic taste is quite different than mine. There is an image uploaded for reference just in case you yet have time to try an ICS ROM.
I did try GoSMS and Handcent, and they did not fit with my taste. So please if you know something else, let me know.
By the way, I think $2 for an SMS app skin is a rip off.

Well if you would have tried the themes you wouldn't say your not aware of a way to make the app look like ICS, at least that's what i thought(An ICS theme is a way to make it look like ICS imo). If you don't see this solution as suitable, that's another story.
Yes I'm sure your taste is different than mine, I don't want an ICS look for my SMS app, I just want it to run smooth. But to stay on topic, if you don't like GoSMS and Handscent you will have a hard time finding the right app for you. As far as I know those 2 apps are the most used SMS apps, with the most options.
Succes.
And yes, $2 for a skin is a rip off (I was able to download some themes, including ICS, for free though)

Give GO SMS PRO (feature-rich) a shot together with this free theme called 'GoSms Theme GoogleUI ICS Free' (ICS look & feel). After which, customize the app with the wide range of possible combinations & you'll never feel it as 'GB' any more. ;-)

[Q] Classic sense dialer with cyanogenmod

I'm running the latest cyanogenmod on my desire at the moment but the one thing i am missing about the classic htc sense OS is the dialer. I hate hate hate the built in one with cyanogenmod, and miss being able to link contacts, add their Facebook photos as callerid and having their Facebook status displayed when they call. I also miss having the ability to just start typing a name or a number and it searching.
I'm referring to this:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So what I am asking is; is there a way to make this happen?
Thanks in advance!
you MIGHT be able to get a theme to make it look similar to this, but you probably wouldn't get any of the functionality.
agreed
I'm with you 100% velk.
The dialer in the CM is garbage. I'm thinking of switching to MIUI.
I'm running cm6 nightly and I downloaded dialer one from the market , that's a great dialer.. Very similar to htc sense. Try that before switching roms.

Maybe try Dialer one in the market? Not as good as sense dialer but better than stock for sure.
haha, I happen to be the opposite, I'm trying to use aosp dialer on sense roms

haha lol~~
i love Sense dialer but yesterday i found a replacement on my OpenDesire. Try Youlu address book guys, its very clean!! and IMO, sense dialer challenger.
I'm on Cyanogen and I still have Facebook integration in the contacts list.
If you'd be interested, maybe we can write an app to replace the stock dialer... I'm in the process of trying to write a camera app to replace the stock one. I can definitely do the graphics for skinning the app... coding is a bit of another story ;D Might need a crutch for that.
Use Dialer One, as many ppl suggested. It works with no bugs, it is highly customizable and the developer is quite responsive.
I'm using Dialer One on CM 6.1 now, but is there any way to change the 'shortcut' of the standard dialer and make it point to Dialer One (or another dialer)?
I'm using Youlu Address Book and CM6.1 and what I did was dropped a shortcut to Youlu on the desktop, then if you pick it up and drop it in place, you can set a custom icon for it (I chose the phone icon from the Gingerbread icon pack I'm using for ADW Launcher). Then I dropped it down on the favorites bar.
Thanks, that did it! Didn't know the bottom bar was a favourites bar
Yeah, I just have my dialer, app drawer, and sms down there, the things I use the most

You know you can also expand it from 3 to 5 if you want to add a couple more apps.
Rocket dialer seems much better and great customazible
But sense from liberty rom is very nice

REQUEST - MIUI Lockscreen PORT

i wonder if its possible to pull the MIUI lockscreen into a sense rom. i dont like the "click-on-colored-babyish-iphone-icons-style" of MIUI but the lockscreen is awesome!
Any ideas if there is a way to do this?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they still show that style on the app drawer or if placed on the homescrens?
I like a lot of things with the MIUI interface, but the thing that drives me away is the iphone-esque menu when you hit the menu button. I love the phone/dialer though.
MIUI should be enjoyed as a whole product, not in bits and pieces. But I'm sure someone could do it for you.

Laucher Pro will let you replace the icons with whatever ones you want when you put it on the desktop - there are plenty of apps out there that will allow you to change the look of the homescreens - but if it really is the menu system you don't like then hopefully someone can try and port the lockscreen for you
(FYI - here's my Incredible running MIUI and Launcher Pro)

i was thinking of making this exact thread. it would be great to get that lockscreen but I was reading somewhere that it is non-trivial to port it to CM6

Non-trivial? So you're saying it's important to port it to CM6?
If that's the case, it could be ported to MIUI as well, since they are both AOSP roms.
Unless of course you mean trivial, which makes more sense...

Non-trivial in this sense means not easy. From what I have read, the lockscreen is pretty tied in to the Rom.

Yeah, this would be incredible if this was possible. I enjoy MIUI, but it has its pro's and con's. I really LOVE the lock screen, but on the other hand I really am not a fan of all the white/light grey system menus. With the number of people that are obsessed with theming their Android devices I'm surprised there isn't any option to change all those menus to a darker scheme.

Anyone have any luck with a port of miui? I would love to test it

go sms, go contact, go score, go keybord,...

I installed go product for testing and they look good.
Using it for a day now
installed from the marked add free so far
most themes are free
also there are allot plugins and other app
I made it default program in setting-> application ->application management -> find the program en click on it there is an option make default.
But could change the icon on the wall Don't know if possible if so it would be nice to know.
Do you use it too?
Can I change the icon on the wall for sms , phone, conctacts,..?

Really like their stuff, but GoLauncher Ex started to be laggy as hell since the last 1-2 updates. :-/

Don't know what you mean... I have no problem with Go Launcher Ex...
any chances of them releasing go rom, go sense, go android 2.4, etc..
but go products are good indeed....
I use Go SMS Pro, it's so slick and fast.
Blows Handcent and Chomp out the water IMO.
sorry didn't understand your question (if you asked one).
I'm also a very big fan of GO apps, Launcher, Contact and SMS apps are very good alternatives!! I also have no lag while using Go Launcher.
i am using go launcher and go calendar at the moment..
have yet to try out the go apps... might try them out soon
Where did you take this theme for Go contact??? it's awesome...
I really like the go dailer, but I prefer handcent, because it has a true black theme, saves battery and I like black.

Trying to achieve full AOSP Jellybean UI with Touchwiz based ROMs

Hey guys,
Since CM10/CM9 are still plagued with bugs, the need to stick with a stock Touchwiz ROM persists. However, coming from a Galaxy Nexus, I very much miss the stock AOSP interface.
I know there are plenty of themes available such as THIS ONE & THIS ONE but I still haven't found one that gets the entire UI to replicate the look of AOSP exactly with the proper homescreen icons, apps, notification icons, battery, clock, ICS camera interface, AOSP Messaging interface etc.
Here is what I have so far...
ROM - FreeGS3 R5
Apex Launcher with ICS theme
ICS Blue Mod v3 (changes status bar to be more AOSP like)
Camera ICS
exDialer (with excontacts for AOSP phone interface look/feel)
ICS Keyboard
Even with these mods the look is still a bit off as many apps are still Touchwiz themed when opened and the toggle buttons in the drop down menu are still colored in HD. And I haven't found a fully functioning lockscreen replacement that provides the exact look/feel of AOSP Jellybean without adding lag and/or glitches.
I'm open to any suggestions. If I have to wait for a fully stable CM10 release to achieve all this then so be it, but since that might be a while off I figured I'd give this a shot.
Thanks!
I think Intruige Rom does a good job of this on its own. I came from a Galaxy Nexus and was able to replicate most of the same look and feel with this rom along with apex launcher.

Widget Locker is supposed to be one of the best lockscreen replacements. I have never tried it personally.

[APP] Control Center for Android

I just found this on the play store guys and I think it's pretty awesome, this is the only new feature that I loved about iOS7, it's pretty handy IMO. Thought I shared it.
I'm just sharing it, I couldn't find the post where the app was born ( I'm pretty sure was developed here on xda ), but anyways, if you find the maker, thank him, and be sure to leave 5 star to promote development.

No offence but if I wanted my phone to look like an iPhone then I'd still have my iPhone lol ... I'm sure some people will appreciate this app though, at least if/when they iron out the issues current users seem to experience with it
I actually tried this the other day and I really didn't like it. Its kind of askward since it is right by my app drawer button. So I found myself hitting that instead. Or it would do both.
I much prefer power toggles or something similar in my notification drawer. Not to mention the colors on the center are just plain ugly and don't blend well with anything.
Just my opinion!

I can't get how getting a quick settings alike will make your android look like an android, this is not a theme or whatsoever. Well I just wanted to share it, I'd never use an iPhone that's for sure but control center is way better option than both quick toggles/ quick settings on android IMO.

Curious as I notice you are running a Venom ROM.
If so what benefit does this have over using the Quick Setting in the pulldown, does that not offer even more?
