I have been attempting to flash this modem with no luck the past couple of days. I am on AOKP, so I have been using Mobile Odin to flash back to EL26 with CWM to flash the modem zip. Every time I try this, it hangs on flash for a LONG time, and eventually errors out. I then tried to Mobile Odin the modem.bin I pulled from the same zip and it gave no error, but didnt change anything.
Has anybody else had this problem? Is the zip on the official modem thread bad? If anyone has any tips for upgrading to FE22, I would appreciate it. I try to avoid desktop Odin as much as possible, so if you have a "mobile" solution, it would be best for me.
Thanks!

If you want to try by other than CWM you'll need to use the desktop ODIN as mobile can't support CDMA modem updates (at least based on previous posts.)
Redownload the modem.zip. it sounds like a bad download. Its happened to me before.

I've re-downloaded a couple of times and got the same thing, that's why I was wondering if the actual file was bad on the site. I guess I'll have to go the Odin route. I run nothing but linux though, so it's a pain for me to setup a windows machine to work from for 5 minutes. I've read bad reviews of the FF02 modem, but maybe I'll give that one a try anyway through CWM first.
Thanks guys.
I've never been able to flash a modem with mobile odin. Always regular odin.

I guess I flashed a zImage for the GT P1000 at some point.
My sprint tab boots and whatnot, but I can not update either bootloader or my zImage. I've tried every damn way, Heimdall and odin. I know I've got the correct drivers and all.
The damn thing is useless though because even when I do a factory reset, I still have applications and settings remaining.
How can I fix this?
Post in the right forum.
You should try flashing your current rom or kernel via Odin. If that doesn't work, try using the p1_hidden.pit too.

Negative, just tried both. It fails every time on boot.bin. I'm 100% certain it's the correct boot.bin too. It only fails on that first though because it's first in the .tar.
It consistently fails on boot.bin Sbl.bin and zImage.
Just to clarify I have a SPH-P100
did you try repartition with odin? that should erase the internal memory from anything before(if you get stuck with the "DO NOT TURN OFF DEVICE!!" message, wait 5 minutes and unplug, reboot, see the new warning image and then go and flash your favorite ROM, this time make sure to flash the correct one)
Also I advice you to grab one of those Official ROM justin case and flash one of them, they come with a good kernel and everything works nice.
another thing that happened to me, is that I cannot use the same USB port for Odin and Heimdall, it just doesn't work! so try a differente USB port and use the latest version of Odin which is 1.7

did you ever find out the issue?
I currently have SPH-P100 and i was able to odin 1.7 a stock 2.3 GB with root and CWM and i been trying to flash CM9 or CM11 with the null ("" )updater script and it still fails.
I dont know what im doing wrong maybe i need a kernel to convert the sph-p100 into a gt-1000?
Where can I see what modem my phone is running. I've flashed multiple modems, but because all my cwm attempts have aborted I've used mobile odin. I have no problem with this, just not sure where to see the modem version so I can confirm it's actually there.
I have no problems seeing my rom/kernel versions, just modem.
thanks

Go into settings then about phone and it will be under baseband version. if you updated your modem be sure to also click system updates and update your profile and prl too.
Well that's not good. Still says EK02. I've flashed (or apparently only attempted to flash) EL29 & every one of the FBs & now FC05, both through cwm (always aborts installation, emmc error?) & odin (I thought it was working).
Any thoughts or ideas on what I may be missing or how to fix? (And I have flashed multiple roms/kernels without issues, unless I do something stupid lol)

Make sure to wipe cache and delvik cache mang if that still doesn't work then update it through odin with the modem .tars and the should work fine for you
I was afraid you might say that. Odin doesn't like my phone for some reason. Connects when not in download mode, but refuses to recognize in download mode. I can flash the tar in mobile odin but still not taking. I've reinstalled odin a couple of times, reinstalled the drivers repeatedly, different cables, different USB ports, etc. May have to get Sprint to swap it.
Thanks for your help.

Don't worry bro you'll get it, Odin is picky so be sure to uninstall and reinstall drivers then try again or try a different kernel (depending on if your on a gb or ics rom)

try flashing stuff from your INTERNAL SD card, NOT your EXTERNAL card...that solves many problems
I've actually tried from both internal and external. Same result.
and, I assume you have downloaded it more than once, to your computer, NOT to the phone, and then transferred it to the phone to flash?
I have tried using the Odin OC version, and also installing a stock zip from ACSyndicate, and using Odin v.1.85. I have yet to get the ICS update, and I am also unable to create folders on the desktop for some reason with each install. I have no idea what is going on.
The process I used was putting my phone in download mode, running Odin as an admin, plugging in the phone, and clicking start on the 2.3.6 OdinOC file from the wiki (non-rooted), or putting the D710USEL29_20120105151142_Stock file in PDA in Odin 1.85, making sure only autoreboot was checked, and then clicking start. All flashes were successful. I have also tried doing a factory/data wipe in recovery after the stock flash, as well. I have a GB recovery installed when doing this, if it matters. I am also running Windows 7 64 bit.
In regards to the ICS OTA, I live on the East coast, so it may not have hit here yet.
Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks!

First off wrong section, this should be in Q & A. And are you saying you're trying to get back to stock GB? With Gingerbread you can't create folders on the desktop like you can with ICS. And the OTA update will be slowly rolled out. Not everyone is going to get it at the same time. What is it that you're trying to ask about anyways?
IBTL! But check the last post by sfhub as he created a one click for the official release.

I need some tips on flashing EL26 or EL29 recovery kernals from GB27 rom.
When flashed (odin, mobile odin, and zip) my phone gets stuck on the first Samsung E4GT logo. No recovery is added, volume up and power only reboots device to same logo.
Ive done this flash before and never had an issue. I dont know what could be the issue.
Would flashing a stock GB or ICS rom and pretty much starting from scratch be a good idea?
I guess my question is are there issues with flashing from GB27 to EL26/29? Do I need to be on a specific kernal? My only fear is if I flash a stock GB rom I wont have a kernal to flash anything else.
Could there be something wrong with my phone? It really seems to me flashing from my current rom isnt compatable.
Please send me some tips and advice on what roms to flash to get back to an el26 so I can proceed with my goal in all this which is flashing the new SHOstock rom with multi window.
Thank you and I appreciate any help!

It wouldn't hurt starting from scratch. It sounds like your current Rom is having some sort of conflict with the EL26/EL29 CWM kernels. Have you tried flashing a gb27 cwm recovery? That will allow you to flash a new rom. They are stable as dd's now and I use them all the time. Try Garwynn or Agat's gb27, they both come with Agat's custom recovery which has cwm. If that doesn't take, might as well save all your important stuff and give a fresh start a try . Good luck.

I gave flashing stock GB08 rooted a shot. I then flashed EL29 and EL26. Still does the same thing.
Doesnt boot to CWM.
If I flash a Gingerbread rom, since my EL26/29 isnt working, will I be able to access my current GB27 state I am in now without issue?
My AGAT GB27 is doing me well to retrieve all my current backups.
I dont want to go back to Gingerbread and not have a recovery to use because it uses EL26/29. So I would be screwed, correct?
Thanks!
I am trying to flash EL29 Gingerbread Stock Rom with Root.
This doesnt work as well. Odin freezes on the flash at FactoryFS.img.
Does anyone know why it would freeze on this file?
I've tried multiple tar files, different ports, different cords, two versions of odin.
I let it sit for 30 minutes and nothing. What caused the factoryfs.img file to freeze?
What hardware in the phone could cause this issue?
Any help wouldbe appreciated. All I want is EL26/[email protected]#$ WHYYYY!
If you flash el26 or 29 over ICS or JB your phone will not boot past splash screen. I always use el26 with odin from PC, kernel is flashed from pda slot. Reboot the phone and hold then keep holding power +vol up for like 30 seconds and you will boot into el26 recovery.
If you want to switch from from Touchwiz JB to AOSP or older GB/ICS rom you need to flash a ICS 1 click first like FI27 then flash el26 kernel and flash rom. If you are trying to flash the rooted el29 one click rom it should work. Maybe bad cable. I only flash with blackberry microusb cables.
el26 el29
IM stuck in flash screen. I have el26/el29 in tar.md5 I need them in zip format to flash on Odin. I don't have computer access. Stock cwm-El26.tar and El29 direct boot cwm.tar ?? Any way to get them in zip so I can flash in Odin.

You are confused my friend. Odin uses .tar or .tar.md5 files and CWM recovery uses .zip files. And if you're stuck at splash screen after flashing el29 it's because you can't boot el26 or el29 unless you have that build rom on your phone. They are used for recovery only. Pull battery, reinsert, reboot into recovery, and flash the rom of your choice from there!(e4gt only of course)

? Powered By My Moga Pro ?
I never got it fixed. Bought a HTC one sv boost mobile. Thinking about trying to root it. But got to do my reading first don't want to brick this one. Sorry for late response.
Of all the things I have screwed up, I can't believe my first post asking for help is this one. I have been rooting and installing custom ROM's since the EVO. Always found the help I needed in someone else' thread. But this has me stumped.
I am a ROM jumper. Do it all the time. Yesterday, I was having some performance issues with my Note2 so I thought I would do a full wipe and try out another ROM. I also wiped my internal storage. My recover at that time was philz_touch_6.19.3-t0ltetmo. Somehow, I ended up wiping everything and I couldn't boot into anything other than Download mode.
Still no biggie. Wait until I got home and I would flash some with via Odin on my Windows netbook. It never worked. It would maybe get to 25% complete and hang. I left it running for about an hours with no results. Then I moved to my Linux desktop and installed Heimdall. Used that to put philz_touch_6.19.3-t0ltetmo back on the device. Then I installed cm-10.2-20140309-NIGHTLY-t0ltetmo.zip via sideload.
Stuck on smiling robot with a circle.
So I sideloaded CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20140302-0859-t0ltetmo.zip. Stuck on the logo there too. aokp_t0ltetmo_kitkat_nightly_2014-02-25.zip same thing. I try pushing the ROM's instead of sideloading. No luck.
So I am thinking that maybe I got a bad philz recovery. Redownload that, and go through the same list of roms. Nothing. OK... so maybe philz has become a POS for some reason on my phone. I try openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-t0ltetmo.zip and repeat all the steps above. Wiping and sideloading, then wiping and pushing... stuck on logo.
I have to say I am stumped. I am losing nerd cred by asking for help, but dammit I am stumped. Any help appreciated.

Eww. Does that have to be flashed via Odin/Heimdall or can I use my established recovery? Also, I looked at some of those earlier and they are all in ZIP format. Odin wants TAR.MD5. Is it as simple as unziping and then tar-ing? I don't see an option to TAR.MD5.

The easiest option would be to flash the tar.md5 file using ODIN.
If you are 4.3 bootloader you can flash this MrRobinson's ROM
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23252070760975435
If you are 4.1.2 bootloader you can flash this ROM, download link on post#1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2636552
If you plan to flash it using Heimdall you will have to first extract the tar.md5 file and then flash all ROM components.
Your command should be something like this, please note I have not tried flashing using Heimdall so I am not 100% it will work.
sudo heimdall flash --BOOT boot.img --RECOVERY recovery.img --SYSTEM system.img --CACHE cache.img --HIDDEN hidden.img --RADIO modem.bin

Good stuff, thank you cipher.
Perhaps I am missing something here though. I went to check which version bootloader I have. I just assumed I would have 4.3 since I have been running JB & KK rom's for the past month or so; but I wanted to double check. When I boot into recovery, it doesn't show it there. When I boot into download mode, it doesn't show it there either. Where should I be seeing the version number?
When you boot into download mode do you see KNOX Warranty Void below system status ?
If not then your phone is not on 4.3 bootloader.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Yes, it shows KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1
So then I have 4.3. Thanks for the info. When I get home tonight, I will try and flash MrRobinson's ROM then report back. Thank you for the help & I will post my results then.
Well, that took care of it. I was able to use MrRobinson's ROM & Heimdall. I did have to download a PIT file, but that was easily found here on xda. Within minutes I had the gawd awful Samsung TW blooping and making stupid noises. Went ahead and flashed TWRP and I am downloading CarbonRom now.
Thanks for the help cipher. It was driving me nuts.
um... mark as solved?
I tried to edit my original post to mark it as solved, but there isn't an option. How do I change my title?
Well, I spoke too soon. I just discovered that I have no cell service. Went to look and found I have no IMEI # anymore. WTF?
Looks like you flashed a modem for a different device.
No worries, just flash the modem from Mr Robinsons ROM and that should take care of it.

I wish it were that simple. I just reflashed MrRobinsons and it is back to Samsung recovery and rom. Still no IMEI. I am going to go full retard and flash the one from SamMobile. I'll erport back later.
Mrrobinsons ROM is the stock rom, it's just root injected and Knox-free.

Ok first off, dont have tmobile, but i do have a note (verizon)
What do you mean when you say you are "sideloading" "pushing" a ROM.. Bc normally in recovery you "flash" a rom.
So let's make sure you are doing just that..?
If you are "flashing" a rom in recovery and it installs and you reboot and you are stuck.. thats a different issue..
I would recommend getting your stock Odin tar and flashing it..Make sure it contains a boot.img and if you guys use a pit file.. use that as well..

Originally, I could not boot into any rom. I could get into recovery. In order to get a rom onto the phone, I could download the zip file to my computer and inside the recovery turn on sideload to move the file to the phone and flash. And Even then I never got any of the roms to get past the boot logo. Cyanogenmod, Carbon-rom, AOKP... none of them.

Also did you read post #2 about going back into recovery, do a factory reset and reboot?
