[Q] What software version do you have? - HTC One V

As the title says, I would like to know what software version do you have currently in your one v. Mine says 1.56.401.2 and I want to know if this is the latest available. I tried to run the software updater and at first it did installed a new version but that was one time only.
Thanks

1.56.401.2 is the latest version for european region, the other versions 1.57.709.3 and 1.66.661.3 are for asia I guess and we can't update because of CID, the european is HTC__001

There are some updates for 1.56.401.2 but I'm unable to update is as my V is an Asia version.

Do you, or does anyone know where I can get the RUU Image for this version? This is the one I have, but I can't seem to find system image (I can find the kernel on htcdev).

Mine is 1.56.720.2 (HTC India)
I was thinking about installing myONEv by ckpv5 but its baseband version is different......
myONEv RC1.1 (1.56.401.2 CL47452)
Baseband-3831.15.00.23-m Hboot-1.16.0000
Kernel-3.0.30-Virtuous-S4A-2-g7693c9b
My baseband version is 3831.15.00.19_m
Will it be a problem??

Got my replacement today, it is a HT25 version (May) and it has no problems at all. No light problems, no yellow spots, no casing problems. What was interesting to see is that this one came with the version 1.58.707.4 and it has ebuddy xms in it (don't know what this is but it's the first time I see it).
Will run the updater to see if there is something to update to, but I'm thinking that this should be the latest stable version.
@As for baseband, I think that is the version of the Radio.img is used. When I'm saying radio I reffer to GSM/Wifi connections. So if you flash another rom, you will most likely remain with the baseband you are currently having (if the rom you are installing does not have a custom radio.img inside it that will overwrite your current one). It is safe to flash it but do it at your own risk.
Flashing radio.img in a wrong way will end up in bricking your device 100%!

S-OFF stands for security off. It basically means you don't need to
flash a boot.ing before flashing a ROM.Also let's you root the phone
without unlocking the bootloader

And......change the partion sizes of the NAND. This was a common use in devices that shipped with low storage ie. Nexus one, desire, etc.
Example one:
If you use an SD card, you probably have the 95.3 MB of "phone storage" sitting unused. With S off it is easy to reasign this as "internal storage" for apps instead of wasting it
Example two:
Your device is no longer updated / and / or you will never use the OTA feature. Our phone has 4 GB internal storage, yet only 0.95GB is accesable to us. Some is used for system, cache, and partions for things like OTA updates. You can install a new hboot that leaves more room for "system" allowing larger ROMs, or more for "internal" to allow for more programs to be installed, etc .........
Rooting gives you "root access" to the file structure, kinda like an admin on a windows computer, no files are "hidden", all can be read and edited
Unlocking the bootloader allows custom ROM images, kernels, boot animations, etc to be "flashed"
S-off is security off. This allows you to repartion the nand, or flash anything, including another operating system if it was available. You have complete and utter control of your own device.

According to llabtoofer the One X update should roll out in a week or two after the HOX+ upedate.
The HTC usually roll out the upedates in the end of the week.
May It's arrive in the end of THIS week. :fingers-crossed:

Good question! although I guess this wouldn't be a problem. I think you could still use custom kernels when the HOX jumped from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4

Well 3.1.10 is the linux version, it has been used for a long time now. I think if HTC update their hboot version from 1.39 to 1.4x it could give some problems with the old kernel. Then we need to wait (god knows how many weeks) for source code again before the chefs can start cooking a new kernel.
there should be no problm for sense kernels...AOSP will have to wait till sources are out ! but we still have good kernels for 4.2 (AOSP) ! We will get 4.2 update before 31st Aug

YES just flash a nandroid backup of stock rom or if your cid matches a RUU you can use it too...but if not then the nandroid backup for your cid...then flash the stock boot.img and stock recovery.img for the base number of your nandroid and relock bootloader and you can get the OTA
Hopefully if we are lucky something will show up tomorrow as Friday is usually update day.
Everyone cross your fingers! (and toes) :silly:

There was a problem on One X release, it's not the SFR's fault. But, now, HTC works on a new release, forecasts will be good.
In addition, One X+ received it, it's a Tegra device, release is not far.

It's only pertinent to that carrier, not the WWE.

WWE will inevitably be available before Carrier release ... But We know before End of August.
Since it's a 3.1.10 kernel, does not that mean that we can keep using the custom kernels that are around now?

And will they update the bootloader? we'll have to wait for updates depending on our cids? that would suck so bad
