********** This is DamianGTO Steam kernel **********
This is the only working steam kernel for froyo 2.2.1.
With this you get a recovery that has touchscreen and all tool you need for your phone.
You also get a good kernel thats fast and very close to stock kernel.
I also made this tool(Damian tweak) to make things a bit easier.
There is a Steam Rom also now. I made it to make it easier for all.
I also have a new kernel that has a simpler recovery, but all script is working.
So look at the DamianGTO Ultimate kernel.
This is what you get with this kernel:
- Full (multi-)touchscreen interface in the recovery.
- Ext2, Ext4, Jfs and rfs file system auto-detection support
- On-line help system
- A primitive File Manager
- An even more primitive console
- Crypto
- Configure options for Steam Kernel
- Afterburner post-flash utility
- 32 bit display support
- Backup/Restore
- Root (installs busybox 1.18.1 and superuser)
- Almost everything CWM had (supports both sdcards, even for usb storage mode, efs backup support, etc.)
- Afterburner
- Theme support with afterburner
- 350MB RAM
- Optimized kernel tweaks
- Alter minfree strict settings
- Deadline schedueler (Optimized)
- Tiny RCU( less memory footprint)
- lowmemorykiller patch
- Support for bootanimation.zip
- Made from froyo 2.2.1 source code.
- Initramfs from JS3 kernel
- No logging after booting the phone.
- Voodoo sound V4
This is a Beta version and it is not 100% stable.
Have always a backup before you use it and when you use it, so you don't loose your data if something unexpected happens.
ROOT:
If you want root you need to install busybox and superuser.
You also must convert your System to Ext2, Ext4 or Jfs.
Lagfix:
You can convert all partition you want to Ext2, Ext4 or Jfs.
I do use EXT2 only right now and its working very good.
Jfs has a bug if you use it on system. you loose all your sound.
This works best for me and its fast, but its up to you what you want to use.
Don't use Ext4 on the Cache if you need all 30MB for downloading from market.
Ext4 will take 4MB for its journal.
Bootanimation:
Put your bootanimation.zip in /data/local folder and it will use that next time the phone boot up.
You must also change it in recovery to use Android boot animation.
If you don't the boot animination will not work and the phone will be black until it has started up.
Theme:
You must change the script in the theme.zip file.
Look in the afterburner section how the script shall be.
You only need to change the updater-script to update-script and make the change thats needed.
I have put in Ext4 and Jfs support in the kernel. People ask to much about it and I dont think its fair for me not to use it when this is the only steam kernel on froyo 2.2.1 that works.
I still think ext2 is a better system for the phone and use it on the Data partition without any problem.
I also used Tiny RCU( less memory footprint) and lowmemorykiller patch to make the kernel a bit better.
**Update **
New kernel again (1k).
This time I did move it to 600HZ and optimized the cpu use.
It should be faster and smother then 1J, but not has as much battery drain then Speed_kernel.
I hope this is right settings and it will not drain more battery then stock.
You dont need afterburner to install themes.
But you still need to change the script to an update-script.
Then you can use the zip option in the recovery.
Afterburner:
Download the theme you want.
Download afterburner.zip( attached last in this post).
Open the zip file and put your theme zip in the catch folder and remove the other file.
Edit the afterburner.conf.
Change the TEST with the name of your theme and what your theme zip file is named.
---[ID:theme
---[NAME:Install TEST Theme
---[HELP:This will install TEST to your phone. Beware! You can only switch back to a previous theme if you have them in a afterburner file.
extract theme
install_package CACHE:TEST.zip
If your theme has updater-script and update-binary then they don't work.
To make them work you need to use update-script and remove both of the files.
In this new file you write where you want the file to be copied.
If you don't know how this script file works then ask and you will get help.
You can also put as many them zip file in the afterburner file you want.
Just copy all folders and rename the Theme folder to a different name and copy the text in afterburner.conf. and write the new folder name in the text you just put in. If you don't know how then ask and i will help you.
I will put some theme up thats already fixed later on.
If you have a theme that you want med to fix just give me a pm.
So try this Steam kernel and tell what you think. If you find any bug then tell me also.

Way to go.
i can use this with jpy 2.2.1?
I am going to test this!
Edit:
I flashed with a stock JP7 and then Damian's Steam Kernel afterwards.
Everything is working flawless, no problems at all even after two hours extensive using.
Quadrant shows a 1213 which is normal on JP7.
Later I am going to try with Lagfix enabled and other ROMs.
I like the Steam recovery, somehow strange, but kewl and modern ;-)
Kernel seems to be more responsive than the stock kernel!
ok, I flashed my fon with Nitr8's insanity 0.3.2 based on Android 2.2.1.
After that (without even booting it) I flashed with Damian's Steam Kernel.
Everything went flashless, Systems comes up fast - BUT:
The Baseband is NOT recognized from the Steam Kernel. There we still ned to fix, but everything else is working well.
Responsiveness is very good. I am very happy with it so far as it is looking promising.
Using the Quadrant Score gives me just 1180. This is really not enough.
Nevertheless it feels very responsive and smooth ??
Feelig (especially in Recovery Mode and other things like that) very dodgy and often throwing errors out on console makes me not worrying as it is still alpha.
Why is this kernel using 300Hz ? next I need to try some optimizations though.
Edit:
after 2 reboots suddenly the baseband is correctly recognized ??
so I can confirm now it works sufficent to be tested on JPY 2.2.1
Seems to work okey.
This kernel base is the same that the latest z4mod kernel I did.
So they should work the same after you booted up the phone.
The steam recovery is fun, but its need more work to be safe.

*** UPDATE **
I have fixed the root issues.
It should work, but if you get any problem just tell me
I did update the kernel file on the first post.
So download it if you use the first kernel.

The kernel is stable, but the recovery is still alpha and i must test that more and hope for an update if the steam engine.
But if you have a place for kernels thats not stable then you can use it.
I know many want a steam kernel and im suppriced that none have done any yet on jpx source that works.

Yes, maybe start in the beta section to see if is stable
Okay Damian.. Just jumped in with both feet into this Kernel..
Looks nice.. I will continue testing over the weekend,,
Well until I reflash, but the install was super easy, and it installed with no problems.. Looks nice and easy to use..
So far so good.
Installed this kernel under Darky's latest 8.0 ROM. Working fine so far!
I'm going to do some testing with all the settings today, keep you all informed.
If you are not a first time visitor in this thread and you know how to deal with this tweak pack, go to:
Kobridge Tweak Pack v3.5 page directly to download it.
Kobridge Tweak v3.6SF only for stock FH23 + FH23 Deodexed No Data Zip file (not looping, modified version from crawrj's)
Kobridge Tweak Pack v3.6 - only build.prop changed from previous version. Other changes will be reflected into next version. If you are not using non-stock Kernel, you may need to add one more init.d script to properly run the init.d scripts during the boot (the information available from tdunham's thread)
Note: There were no tweak changes made on v3.5. Only build.prop has been changed based on FF18 and v3.5 is only available for stock based rom users. For any other rom users, please use v3.4.
Previous versions:
Kobridge Tweak Pack v3.4 page (post#751,#752, #753)
Kobridge Tweak Pack v3.3 & v3.3.1
Kobridge Tweak Pack v3.2.1

Kobridge Tweak Pack v3.0 and v3.1
If you are not familiar with Kobridge Tweak Pack, please read below information first and also visit Kobridge Tweak Pack v3.2page (Post #61, #62 & #63) for more information
Note: Don't use Kobridge Tweaks with any other battery saver applications, task killers, memory management tools. You can try with other tools, but my tweaks work best without those tools. You can still use the monitoring tools if it does not change the system settings.
What's this?
The flashable zip files including the build.prop (known as Super build.prop, thanks to Team ERA for naming it) for rooted stock based ROMs and other very useful init.d scripts (some scripts are not in init.d folder).
I've started working on these tweaks from several month ago and created several tweak related threads -

Which ROMs supported?
Up to dated list: Check out at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26816505&postcount=463
Do not flash this tweak on any other ROMs.
How to install?
Just go to the Recovery mode by press vol up + power at the same time and flash the zip file. To flash the zip file, you will need repacked kernel kernel like Rogue Recovery, sfhub's kernel plus or Agat's ACS recovery.
Note: Be sure that you have a nandroid backup before doing anything. It is not required but recommended just in case.
One zip file includes multiple other zip files. So, after downloading the zip file, unzip it from your phone or PC. Those are the flashable zip files that you can use from the recovery mode.
What's going to be installed or replaced?
build.prop - Be sure that you have the same version of stocked based ROM. If your rom is different with the rom version in the title, you may need to find a different build.prop.
install-recovery.sh - thanks to sfhub. sfhub created this file originally to support the init.d scripts from stock or any other type of roms. If you are using sfhub's auto root tool, the original install-recovery.sh would be saved into install-recovery-orig.sh. So, be sure that make backup these files if those are already there. My flashable zip file will replace the existing install-recovery.sh.
init.d - will be created if it's not there and any existing init.d scripts will be cleaned up. So, make sure you have the backup of those files.
busybox, sqlite3, zipalign will be placed into /system/xbin folder.
CPU tweak file will be placed into /system/bin folder. No more cpu tweak files in init.d folder.
If you don't know what you're doing, please don't use this flashable zip file and ask first. I'm not responsible for any bricked pnones by using this tweak. So, do it with your own risk if you want to try.
Need more information? or for Q/A, please use my thread in here - Extend your Battery Life - init.d, build.prop and everything
Credits:
sfhub for this leaked roms. He is really quiet but taught me lots of things directly and indirectly thru XDA.
Calkulin - initially I got the idea about CPU tweaks through his tweaked ROMs. I've changed some of his tweaks when I applied into my CPU tweaks but the main concept is still following him.
VeNuM - Team VeNuM allowed my tweaks to be used on his Rom.
tdunham for his great help and working with me to create flashable zip files. He also tested out Kobridge tweaks on Calkulin's 2v1.5 rom. Now he created the version 2.5 tweaks for Calk's rom (check out the second post)
MrTimz - Adapting various Kobridge tweaks on thier rom and being a good friend
JohnCorleone - for his knowledge and adapting Kobridge tweaks on VeNum
bigpeng testing out on VeNuM_ICE Rom and AnaKonda.
steve97ta for testing out on VeNuM_ICE_Rom and on Stock fe16
BigJPNut for testing out Kobridge tweak v3.0 on VeNum_ICE RL5.5
And many lots of Kobridge Tweak users in this thread!
What's in attchment?
FE16KOB_TWv3.0.zip - For stock rooted FE16 ROMs, All-in-One package. Super Fast(SF) Tweak (Antutu 6500), Fast(F) Tweak (Antutu 6500 or below), Moderate(M) Tweak (>6000), Agressive(A) Tweak (>5500). The test result could be vary... Battery savings are reverse order
VeNuM_5.5_KOB_TWv3.0.zip - For VeNuM ICE RL5.5 users. Version3.0 does not make the backup files. So, if you want to keep current init.d and build.prop, you need to backup those files by your own.
Calk2v1.5_KOB_TW_v3.0.zip - For Calkulin's 2 v1.5 FD26 users, All-in-One package. Instruction is same as others.
Note:
For any previous stocked based ICS ROM users, you can use the most recent one but you will lose your current build related information. If you don't mind, flash the zip file that you want to use.
For any existing Kobridge tweak users, please bear with me, other tweaks are coming.
[ROM specific instructions]
New! [5/23/12] Kobridge Tweaks v3.0 Up for Calkulin 2 v.1.5 FD26 users
New! [5/23/12] Kobridge Tweaks v3.0 Up for VeNuM_ICE_RL5.5 users
Download and unzip the file from OP. Using unzipped zip file, flash it thru recovery (just same way like stock rom tweak flashing)
Be sure that you make your init.d and build.prop backup if you want to keep old files. New v3.0 does not provide you the way going back.
New! [5/23/12] Kobridge Tweaks v3.0 Up for FE16 stock Rom users
Instruntion: download and unzip the file from OP. Using unzipped zip file, flash it thru recovery.
In this version, there are 4 different sets up tweaks available -
SF Super Fast - almost maximum speed without o.c or o.v (also check the battery savings)
F fast - almost same speed with SF but targetting more battery savings
M moderate - big different, faster than previous version but would get the same amount of battery saving
A aggressive - targetting aggressive batttery savings. So, this is the slowest one. I'm still looking for the way to improve this one.
[Updates] oldest (top) -> newest (bottom)
No update yet but kobridge Tweak v3.0 is also coming for some other Roms soon.
5/23/12 New 3.1M and 3.1A Tweaks attached in this post for stock rom users (Really Fast!) If you are using 3.0M (Antutu score > 6000) or A (> 5500), try this one and you are not going to complain about the lag time.
[Q/A]
Where can I find the older version of Kobridge Tweaks?
There is another thread at the same Dev section. Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658471
Are you going to support non stock based Roms?
Not actually. But Team ERA is working hard to get more Kobridge Tweaks for some other type of ROMs.
Any bugs?
So far, none. Please report back.
When can I see other Kobridge Tweaks running on other stock based ROMs?
If it's not here, please don't ask me. I'm always trying to find my time for this stuff but it totally depends on my personal schedule. While you are waiting, you may use the compatible tweaks something like tweaks for stock rom.
Ok, I read the OP and I didn't see this mentioned, do we have to wipe something before flashing? Like cache and/or dalvik? Also, I'm running stock FE16 kernel, do we need a repacked kernel for these tweaks to work?
No. No wipe required. Also, you don't need repacked Kernel to run the init.d scripts. But how can you flash the zip file without the repacked Kernel? If you are manually placing the tweak files, then it's ok and you don't need the repacked kernel. Right now, I'm using Agat's ACS repacked FE16 kernel to flash the files. So far, it's working like a charm.
I hope to answer more in here to save your time
you work hard
Simply amazing what you do Kobridge. It is greatly appreciated.

You and Calk should work together in integrating your tweaks into his ROMs from the beginning.
BTW, I tried A2.5 and it was a bit too slow for my liking. Trying M2.5 today and then probably M3.0 later. Thanks!
I tried out the last version of A and M tweaks for Calks rom and battery life seemed pretty strong but I had some issues with the phone being very slow coming out of the lock screen, especially if I had music playing and when a call came in. So I had to revert back to stock Calk. Does v3.0 improve any of that?
Appreciate your efforts!

I would recommend S or M in this version. You'll see the difference.
3.0M still seems slow coming out of the lockscreen. Will S be better in that deparment?!

For the M and A tweaks, that's the common thing to save the battery. For M and A tweaks, those are trying to execute the apps or respond to user action starting from low cpu frequencies and increse the frequencies accordingly. If cpu frequency jumps to maximum to perform the use action after the sleep, that would be the one of the moments that using large amount of battery power.
If you need a quick response, try the 'F' tweak and it's much quick and almost real time.
Good job KO, can't wait for the Venum Ice Tweaks!
This project has evolved tremendously.
Great job! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Hey guys, not sure if I should be posting this in this section, but I'm not certain that is dev issue too and even if it I can't post in dev section yet. What I want to say is: if it is in the wrong section, please, move it ^^
I'm posting this for those who is seeking improvement in performance and battery saving just using tweaks in governors.
Q:What did I do?
A: I just made a init.d script with some tweaks that I wanted.
Q:What was your objective?
A: I wanted to save some battery and not lose performance. I wanted much?
Q:Where did get that from?
A: All credits to droidphile. His guide that helped me. If you want to make your own script for your favorite governor and i/o scheduler, look at his guide in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369817
Explanations:
What I did was take droidphile tips and mod it a little bit. In his guide and explanations, he gave two types : battery friendly and for perfomance. A just merged one and other and made one that don't lost much perfomance neither sacrificies much battery. I'm ver happy with the result.
The script is in appendix. To use the file, rename without .pdf format
Explanations:
The governor in use is ondemand. I'm using arco68 CM9 for our SWG and waiting for CM10. Unhappily, I don't have enough experience to help debug CM10 and help the beta release come faster. The best I can do in the momment is wait. And I'm using supercharger V6 RC10, by zeppenlinrox.
Some tips if you want to make your on script:
- If you're using Windows, use Notepad++ to write it. You've to set up it in ANSI code (in format). Also go to edit>end line conversion>UNIX.
- Before you save, check every line and don't leave any left space, just to be sure that the script will be read right.
- Save with no format. No ".txt", no ".sh", no nothing.
- Follow to the letter droidphile steps.
That's it
*******************05/fev/2013*********************************************
Hey guys, I discovered that my attachment didn't work properly. So I made the right changes and now every line on the script run alright. Recently, I flashed another kernel (I'm using arco68 CM9 for i8150) because I wanted some new features such better governors and SIO scheduler. This kernel can be found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855557, credits to forfivo for it
And after flashed forfivo kernel, I made some changes and scaled my governor as ondemandx, so I'll attach this file here too. If someone want to flash his kernel too, try v2 because I think that v3 is still instable.
Yes, I configured my ROMs kernel (current one)... But I Don't want to wipe out the changes I made. I want to install a new ROM, which of course will install a completely new kernel.
So... What I did to my kernel:
Through Ubuntu Terminal ADB, I got the /proc/config.gz and edited my kernel to optimize it for my external USB adapter. (My phone: Galaxy s4 i9505, my ROM: CyanogenMod 10.1 stable)
Here's the ROM I want to install:
http://wccftech.com/update-galaxy-s4-i9505-to-android-4-4/
So if anyone could reply if they know how to do kernel building and configuring and could help me, it would be VERY MUCH appreciated In fact, I might donate!
Try trickster MOD kernel settings from the play store. Use the donate 1 to unlock the ability to save your kernel preferences. Just be sure to have the kernel you are running now in a zip file so you can flash it after your new ROM and then restore your settings through trickster mod. Good luck!!
