<Fix/Dev Request> Extended Battery Display Fix? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have an Xperia Pro (MK16i) with a new Mugen Power Extended Battery (3,400mAh). The problem is that our devices (not only the Pro, I assume) cannot detect the extended battery.
The symptom is this: It will reach 1% and then be stuck there till it eventually runs dry.
Help: Can someone please help resolve this issue? I remember using similar extended batteries on HTC devices and it is not a problem. Can this be fixed by comparing with other devices? Anyone knows what the problem (technically) is?
Would appreciate the help and assistance. I know there are many who are facing similar problems also. Thank you in advance.

Thanks a lot for guiding me to the right direction.
Unfortunately, I am using the new 4.0.4 ICS ROM... I doubt the kernel would work on mine right?
Would the Arc kernel be compatible with Pro kernel? Can I just push the relevant files or tweak the files myself? (not that I know how to compile a kernel myself... )
Or do I have to talk to Bazoocaze for an updated kernel for the 4.0.4?
Any feedback on these would be much appreciated

Yes, your best bet would be to talk to Bazoocaze about it.
Good news is, he is the expert on the Arc battery gauge, so if he has the time to work something out, he will.

New to Android, what's best?

Hi guys, I got an arc s a week ago after coming from a crap lumia, done a few mods so far but the phone seems a bit laggy.
I'm wandering what you guys think is the best rom, kernel and scripts to use? I've read through a lot of posts but there's too many different versions!
Currently on stock 4.0.3 with xperia s apps installed
Speed, and battery life are the most important things for me, also wouldn't mind a configuration which let's me put s-voice onto the phone as that looks cool
Thanks guys

First of all update it to ics v 4.0.4 (less Laggy) use update service to see if it is available...
Thanks, I've tried the update service but 4.0.3 is the latest it gives me, you reckon it's worth figuring out how to do it manually?

[Q] Galaxy Nexus: Kernel and ROM

Hello xda-developers.
My name's Mirko and I from Italy. It's my first time that I post in this beautiful forum of all kind of developers
I have Galaxy Nexus (GSM. Italian version) with Android 4.1.1 stock. My small questions are:
- I suffer from short battery life, it's better change kernel or ROM?
- If it's better change kernel, what you can recommend to me and why?
- If it's better change ROM, what you can recommend to me and why?
At the moment only these are my questions.
Thanks for all answer.. It's my first time that I unlock bootloader and root my device (I have to do it), and I'm a full newbie of modding
Thanks thanks and thanks, this forum is the best.. Keep on the fantastic work and congratulation to all modder, staff and all!
P.s. sorry for my bad english
Best Regards.
- Mirko Pizii
Before you do any of the stated you need to find out weather your phone is gsm or cdma because you CANNOT put a CDMA on a GSM phone or the other way around.
Kernels affect battery life. I recommend Franco kernel or Lean kernel
Roms affect user interface (the OS operating System on the phone) - I recommend for a starting stable rom Cyanogen (its what MOST roms are based off of) then if you want to tweak your phone more I recommend CodeNamedDroid or ParanoidAndroid. (these are the three that I use the most)
also i would recommend this thread about battery life http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599025
i hope my english has not confused you. Dont be surprised if noone else responds to you in this page, they have a bad habit of doing this.

Thanks for you answer, friend

Franco's has horrible battery life...
paranoidandroid with trinity is the best imo
Yes, custom kernels can improve battery life if you're willing to trade in a little performance. Can't have both at the same time.

[Q] No camera app? (SlimBean 4.2.1)

Hi there,
I just flashed this rom to my P936: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2116403
But there is no camera app in this ROM?
I've been looking on Google but I couldn't find what I was looking for.. and sincé I'm a noob with rooting and flashing I've no idea where to look..
Could someone help me?
Read the thread in the dev section.
The developer knows about the problem but hasn't had time to fix it yet due to personal issues. Hopefully he'll be able to soon.
I must've been blind.. anyway can you recommend me a good working rom for my P936? (EU)

Liquid Nitro (ICS) has good stability and battery, but the unattractive LG appearance tweaks.
HO!NO! CM9 has a bit less stability and battery, but has the nice themable AOSP interface from CM9.
CM10.1 Nightlies/miroslavCM10.1 - Bluetooth issues, battery life not great (i recommend a battery saver app), but otherwise great and stable enough for daily use.

Thanks for answering for me. I've been quite abnormally busy the past few weeks and it's not looking any better. I have full intentions of getting around to working on it I just have a little too much on my plate at the moment.

[Q] Upgrade Rom and Kernel

Hello everyone
First i want to congrats all the persons how make all this tutorials, they really help me a lot.
And now the questions, i already read the forum and the rules and i know i cant ask for compare any roms or kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097137) but i still need a few lights.
I need a kernel and a rom that help me save battery and can be fast enough for applications.
The last 2 i use was CM10 and FreeXperia kernel, and now i am using kernel vengeance and Xperia Ultimate HD 3.0. I test both with Antutu Benchmark and give me 4800 with Xperia Ultimate HD, and 5800 with CM10.
There is any combination Kernel/Rom that can help me make higher score and at same time save battery?
Many thanks

Welcome to xda forums.
It's useless to say that you have seen the rules and you still make this thread, the only answer that you should get and probably the only one you will get, is this one:
TRY yourself each ROM from the Android Development forums, and then you will see which one suits your needs, and serves you the best.
Also, don't forget that AnTuTu scores aren't 100% reliable, and they're based mainly on Governors, I/O schedulers and CPU Frequencies, it's not that reliable because I myself get better gaming performance with a Governor that gave me 5300, than with one that gave me 6000, they are just numbers.

Like above post said, try out the different ROM and kernel combinations yourself as the resulting performance is different for everyone because of the different settings you use and the different apps you install on your phone. If you want to find the most suitable kernel for your phone, check the ROM thread. Each ROM thread should have a list of recommended kernels that will work best with the ROM. For example, Jader recommended LuPuS kernel for his UHD ROM. However, if LuPuS does not work well for you, you can always try out other kernels in the recommended list. It differs with each user.
As for benchmark, it only gives a general idea of your phone's performance. It is not accurate enough to genuinely gauge phone performance. The one who determines that is yourself. Only you can tell if the performance is good by trying it out yourself.

Thanks for the replies.
I did like both sugested, trying. I tryied a ICS Rom and i didnt like it. So far the only one that i like most was CM10.1, the kernel i use was the included in the Rom. Work all allrigth.
Anyway sorry for the questions, i just wanted to make sure before starting flashing my phone.
Thanks

What's ION Kernel

hi guys, some of you may know my SGW is not really working because of the Power Loop Issue, so there are TONS of things i've been missing these days, one of it was the ION Kernel featured on the CM10.1 Beta build 2 by arco, if im not mistaken, ION kernel isn't gonna happen to our device... so what that and how the hell did arco managed to fit in our lil' device?
