I have two questions about the screen protector I put on just now. I know these things are supposed to look bad when you first apply them, but does this look normal? It just feels that I should have a cleaner appearance on the screen. And if it isn't right or it's bad is there anything I can do?
Also, unrelated but I figure I might as well ask now: when I updated to 4.0.4, on the calendar widget next to my events a black square is to the left of each event. What is this for? I can't figure it out and I tried searching. Maybe I'm not describing it right? I don't know. But it's bugging me.
Looks like you used too much soapy solution.
In any event, it'll dry up within a day or two. Make sure you do your best to squeegee out any excess solution. As it dries, apply some pressure to some problem areas so that it adheres to the glass.
Post another pic tomorrow
You're actually not to push out the bubbles or any part of it. They will dry out, just give it time.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yeah, that's very much normal. As jpg says, probably just more soap than strictly necessary, but trust me when I say it'll dry clear. It may take several days to completely dry out, but don't panic and try to start rubbing the bubbles out -- it'll just leave stretch marks on the material (trust me, I've done this. ).
Looks normal for a newly installed wet protector. As mentioned above, that's too much solution. Don't worry about that and don't squeeze the solution left under the skin out. Leave it as it is
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Okay I feel a lot better after reading that. Haha being my first wet protector and being such an expensive phone, I was concerned. But I'm glad it should be normal. I can't wait to see it when its all dry and set.
Way too many bubbles. You should use more solution, and spray solution on the outside as well + your fingers + the squeegee. Spray the piss out of it and squeegee the solution out from under the screen. It should look almost 100% when you're done with maybe some minor micro-bubbles that go away after a day or two.

afaik the square color on the side of the event is the color of the calendar that event belongs too.
Aka if you have multiple calendars like "school" (red) "work" (green) and "travel" (blue), the box would indicate which calendar the event is part of via the square color.
Your screen looks weird, I have Armor Suit screen protector. It was a wet application. This is the final product after 2 monthes, but I'm sure my screen wasn't like this when I applied it. These are my screen pictures, as you can see, looks clean.
Watch out for the orange peel effect, I got it and instead put on a dry install screen protector instead. It was driving me nuts.

I've always been against SPs. I know they serve their role, but I believe the Vibrant has held up extremely well for me. Regardless, seeing so many complimentary posts I decided to split the costs with another XDA user and give it a whirl.
Boy am I glad I did. The SP is not visible AT ALL. No bubbles, no change that I can tell in screen clarity, the feel is almost the exact same to my touch, and best of all.... with the SP + Gorilla I really have no worries at all about my screen. I guess in a worst case scenario the SP could get a scratch? Anyone had any issues with this?
Application was super easy. I opted to use a warm shower for humidity and some scotch tape to help apply.... first time trying was perfect. Never had I been able to apply a SP so easily/perfect.
Also, I use the black TMobile case that came on launch date. With this case, it wraps just slightly around the edge of the phone.... well, this is perfect because even if you could see the SP, this case wraps over it. This is flawless. Nobody would ever guess I had a SP.
Those in limbo or feeling good about the Gorilla... take it from someone who used to vocalize those same sentiments, this SP is worth it. Maybe find someone on XDA to help split the costs with you since it comes in a 2 pack.
If you order, you get:
2 SPs
an alcohol wipe
a microfiber cloth
2 strong adhesive tapes (to lift the SP if you do get dust under it)
2 little plastic pieces to smooth out any bubbles
instructions
I think that's all that came in the box... not bad for $11. O, and I got an email saying I should expect it on the 17th.... well, I got it today (11th). Pretty speedy delivery too!
I realize this sounds like an ad... I am not affiliated with them in any way, just trying to point out my thoughts since I was openly negative about it before.
UPDATE: 10/6/10
I'm still very happy with the SP. HOWEVER, I AM BECOMING VERY ANNOYED BY THE SMEARING/FINGER PRINTS THOUGH. I can clean my screen with a microfiber and instantly it's dirty again. I have dropped some saline on the screen and then cleaned it... immediately becoming dirty again. I think the screen was much better at not showing fingerprints BEFORE adding the SP. Anyone else notice this? Any ideas?
those things are amazing, I actually took mine off after a couple of weeks because I had a little bubble on the top right corner that wouldn't go away. I washed it and stuck it back on and its still perfect, these things are definitely worth the price
Yesss, another convert to SP. Glad you did it.
I have one and would not trade it for anything. I would rather be safe with my phone than mess it up and regret for the rest of the time that I have it.
Enjoy.
Yes it's awesome but I did manage to scratch the screen protector itself somehow =( that's why I split it with you lol. I'm glad you got it already tho.

I agree that it is virtually invisible when on but try as I might I cant get it to go on cleanly. I finally gave up and live with two bubble. Thankfully they arent in the primary display area.
Oh Realook is definitely better. I first tried the T-mobil SP and noticed a big difference once i tried the Realook. Although my experience was not perfect with Realook, i did have a bubble around the speaker which i can't remove.. I haven't applied the 2nd one, i tried re-using the same one but i got the same results..even after i re-cleaned that area. Having said that, I would still recommend this SP as well
I love realook, they are amazing. I was showing my phone to a customer and they asked why I didn't use a SP. I told them I was using a SP but they didn't believe me. I took my case off and showed them the edge of the SP and they finally believed me.
Yes its good.I just wish it would not attract finger prints as much.oh well small issue to deal with. I had the t mobile one and it made the screen crappy.

If the bubbles are on an edge that means it's not centered properly. Anywhere else I would say it's dust.
Yep RealLook is awesome. I got it because at the time, Clarivue didn't have one available. But RealLook seems to be the exact same thing so I'm very impressed.
I am a Realook Fan now. I had the t-mobile SP and that made the screen look so bad. Having the Realook Sp looks like there is nothing there.
im still streaking naked !!!!
I had the Realook SP for about half a week now, and I AM LOVING it. It's better than the T-Mobile, and Case-Mate SPs.
It doesn't even look like there's one there. No streaks, fingerprints, smudges, or grease.
When my brother seen the package, he asked if I ever put it on. I told him that there wasn't a SP on, and he believed me. I told him I put on a SP and he said, WOW. He didn't notice it.
It does take a little while to put on, I couldn't get on small bubble off, so I have to live with it.
You got a pm.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Well. I'm not impressed.
Both screens could not adhere properly at the earpiece level. The bubble would not go away. (and yes, it was spotless dust-free/clean application).
The adhesive eventually wore off from constant rejiggering and the bubble got bigger....
Yea its tricky i actually got pissed and crumpled the first one..
2nd one took some time...like 20 mins of patients but i eventually got it perfect and im loving it i have no issues with earpiece had few specs of dust but got rid with piece of tape.
Also someone stated its doesn't show fingerprints, smudges, or grease...that's not true.
you still see marks all over the screen from your fingers just like you would without a SP.
But doesn't bother me at all. I cant even tell i have SP and coming from crappy invisible shield rubbery SP im %100 satisfied with it.
I just received my RL screen protectors. They look and feel great. I noticed on both installed on our two vibrants the bubble around the earpiece. I worry that it may get bigger with wear, but if that's the only thing I have to worry about, I'll shell out the $11 again for another pair.
My wife has a snap on cover that goes around the earpiece, so I don't think she'll have that problem.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I have a trick to get rid of the ear piece probelm but not sure how to explain and if it will even help you
At the ear piece i think the SP plastic dips in slightly causing the not to sit properly.
I used my fingernail and scratched in towards the opening for the earpiece hole untill it was sitting flush and eventually flattened out.
dont worry you cant scratch the SP with your finger nail
LOL i hope i described that so you can understand
Do you just keep scratching it while it's on until it flattens out?

Don't, I've posted in the screen protector thread about issues with the skinomi that at least I am having.
After the solution dries, there are some parts of the screen where residue of some sort is left behind. It looks like mist, and it basically a bunch of tiny little dots. When you turn the screen on, it will create a rainbow effect especially on white backgrounds, harder to tell on black.
It has happened twice now, the 2nd one I just applied last night. Will see if it dries but it's looking like the original solution.
Will ask for a full refund if doesn't fix itself.

Original one, gave it like a week. Didn't go away.
This one, it's been a full 48 hours so far and still there. It's not normal. I've read a few other complaints about it also.
Would recommend XO skins, may buy one or just go naked honestly. Using a pouch and hopefully doesn't get any marks.
Hopefully I get a full refund for this though, pretty disappointed.

As the title says BE CAREFUL. While installing the wet apply Zagg, I guess there was alot of excess liquid, and some of it got into the Power Button, and it STOPPED working. Couldn't press it at all, so I figured maybe it was SW related, and took out the battery. The moment I put it in, the phone started to boot and I knew something was wrong.
I freaked out, called Samsung, and put the Gnex in rice. Told them it just "stopped working" , and that I needed a replacement ASAP. Went through everything told me that I'd have to put a credit card on the line and they'll send me a new device, so I did.
30 minutes later, I go to check on my device (just bare Nexus, no battery, back cover, etc) and I stick the battery in. To my surprise, the phone didn't boot up by itself, and so I hold it down and viola! Worked like a charm. I looked up to the heavens, and screamed in joy (seriously, my gf was scared).
Anyways, BE CAREFUL. Don't add too much, I think the liquid is alcohol based as it dries quickly and smells like it, so I wouldn't be too worried, but still, I THOUGHT I BROKE MY NEXUS!
Now I have to call Samsung and tell them to cancel the order... Ugh. -__-
Anyone else have similar experiences? Also, I can't get the bottom and top pieces to attach, they just slide off at the corners, can anyone provide some insight?

Both videos on Youtube didn't have a problem, and if Zagg had included some instructions, I wouldn't have resorted to Youtube in the first place. Just trying to help out others.
I applied a wet shield to mine. Pulled battery, applied shield, let it dry, good to go.
I heard about letting it dry, which I thought I did, liquid still got in it however.

When I applied the Zagg protector, I got a bunch of the liquid on the front of the phone, but I was careful enough to make sure it didn't run off the sides. I was paranoid thinking the liquid would damage my phone, but it turned out okay in the end.
I just bought an XO Skins screen protector (wet application) and I haven't installed it yet. I'm thinking about using a tiny strip of masking tape for the ear piece and taping over the sides so everything is not exposed. Anyone think this is a good idea? I'm just really paranoid lol.

Just take out the battery before hand, don't drown your device in liquid when installing, and LEAVE IT OFF OVERNIGHT before putting the battery back in to let everything to dry. I've down about 7 wet installs and never had any issues, but I've always allowed for at least 8 hours before using the device again.
the glue of masking tape might stick to sides or skin.....generally the masking tapes are cheap....it would be a pain to remove the glue without scratching the screen or edges....i applied zagg....saw the orange peel effect, and removed it in 5 min.....although i kept it again in box....i dont think zagg is good in terms of orange peel.
I agree, Zagg has too much orange peel, XO skins are better.

I installed my XO Skins last night. Used painters tape and placed it over the ear piece and the whole outer parts(around the phone, covering the volume rocker, power/lock, micro USB, headphone jack and back speaker). I am usually very paranoid about doing wet installs with screen protectors and this process went well and there was no residue at all. Not even 24 hours later, my screen is clear and only a few micro-bubbles are left. To anyone looking to put XO Skins on and are a little weary, painters tape works flawlessly.

Hello! You have to be extremely cautious with wet-application films. Always. I've installed Zagg's IS on several apple products, like my ex-iphone 4, 2 macbooks pro, and my magic mouse. Apple products are made to tight tolerances, while our GNexes don't. When I saw the gap between the screen glass and the plastic outer housing I knew

Yeah, that and the entire front of the iPhone is a nice slab of glass.
After that, may be from user error, weird mistake, or act of god, sticking to dry install. Pretty good at it, and if you do it after a hot shower in the bathroom, no dust gets under it.

Hey guys, i'm looking for feedback. I had the gray bumper and everything was fine, but i thought the color was too light so i sold it on ebay and bought a black one.
The black one i received from Google is having an issue and i'm trying to see if it's happening to lots of people or if its just me (will determine if i ask for a refund or another one)
The fit is great like it was on the gray one, but on the black one i have, the front lip is losing its coating. There appears to be some kind of matte finish over the plastic and its coming off, giving a very uneven appearance to the front of the case. Obviously, this wouldn't be such a bad thing if it was happening anywhere else on the case. Not only is it annoying to look at, but these little flakes are pulling onto the screen much like dust or dandruff would.
I took a picture to show what i mean. This is the best i could do to show the issue, and it's happening around the entire case.
Hey man, that is definitely not happening to my case. I'm actually a little worried now looking at your pic, I really hope that doesn't begin happening to mine!
I have the same black case too.
If I were you I would exchange for another case.
Good luck!

while i don't doubt what you're saying, i was just using the dust/dandruff thing as an analogy. It's not coming from my skin (and i don't have a beard), its the coating from the bumper peeling off. When it peels off, it looks very much like dust/dandruff and then clings to the screen. Sorry if i wasn't clearer.

I've Tried this one and seems to work well. Only have had it for about 3 days and clarity and touch sensitivity has been great. I've attached some pictures but if you want more let me know.
I'll try to update in a week and if you need another update let me know.
It is a bit of work to put on but if you do it correctly you should be good without bubbles. But as other full adhesives, it is as most if not installed well you will likely get bubbles and won't disappear.
It has been the only full adhesive at the price range to work well and using it with the Spigen tough armor case.
Also, like others with a black bar on the side, it does disturb the screen a bit as shown in the second picture. Which is similar to the Otao screen protector I used before installing this one. It is not a bother to me but it could be a bother to some.
My favorite thing about the site is that they have a "you've unlocked a mystery discount" spinning wheel for entering your email address. I entered my email address and spun, I won "free shipping" only thing is they already offer free shipping. So, essentially I won exactly what they already give away to everyone.
Useful.

Also, like others with a black bar on the side, it does disturb the screen a bit as shown in the second picture. Which is similar to the Otao screen protector I used before installing this one. It is not a bother to me but it could be a bother to some.

Does it have the annoying blue line going down each side of the edge screen? All of this type of protector that I've tried had that and I hate it.

I haven't seen or don't know what the blue line you are meaning. But as mentioned it does have the Black bar that many hate on the sides as shown in one of the pictures I posted.
That is the main drawback of this one. I could tolerate as many what I see does not cause problems but this is something that everyone hates. See the picture with the reddish orange sides and see the black bar that is in between or I will try to take another picture tonight or tomorrow and post it here.

Yeah, the bar on the sides is annoying. Thanks.
Some more pictures as well showing the black bar
Update it has been good without any problems. It has been a little over a week since installing it and has maintained a good seal without any dust in the edges.
Clarity is better than TGSP with the only adhesive on the edges, as well as the showing of fingerprints as well.
Overall the best I've had so far for a Full Adhesive. The only drawback as mentioned is the bar on the sides as shown in pictures.
The only thing I haven't gone back to the Whitestone has been because of the screen lifting up after removing due to bubbles being distracting.
This could the next best Full Adhesive if you are able to withstand the bar on the sides.
Also ordered the one on Amazon if you are interested in which one I got.
Very good product. Full adhesive. Haven't try it underwater. Hopefully won't come off underwater
