To my understanding I need to flash the Froyo radios in order to get S-ON correct?
I also have .97 hboot and will be running an RUU, any suggestions on which one I need to run?
Yes just flash the 11.19 radio from 3.70 froyo and flash s-on in recovery. After you update the radio and s-on just flash the pc36img.zip in bootloader and you'll be unrooted.
You can run the 3.70 ruu if you like.

Hopefully this works, I was going to run an older RUU but I suppose updating it would be easier to just do a more recent version. The guy who is buying it wants it stock anyways so I am just going to update it to the newest OTA.

If you can't get the ruu going I'll ink up the pc36img which is alot easier than ruu. Make sure you have htc sync installed or the ruu wont work. If you have problems just report back ill help out.

Its Mr, Yellow!
And the trick with the RUU is that you have to use the version corresponding to the firmware/ hboot. But yea, PC36IMG is easier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046764 < 3.70 RUU, rename to PC36IMG, flash in the bootloader.

Yeah pri's usually don't change if its already been updated based on my experience. Give it a little time to settle in then try to update the HTC software from settings.

Try rebooting the phone, and then a software/firmware update,
@Dirk, I believe its the buyer of the phone.
Still nothing... I have been on the phone with them forever.
Now getting an error code 97
Im about ready to just go nuts on this poor customer service guy... They love to try the same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER again lol
Just an update, everything is GOOD TO GO!
Unfortunately I will have to meet the buyer tomorrow now but o well.
Sprint added security features recently on the network that when a phone is reset/updated (all the above) the network won't just let a phone fully activate. My phone wouldn't make or receive calls and texts, but they fixed it and everything is good. This is probably something good to know for those unrooting and selling for the 3d!
My only issue, I can't get the phone to recognize the update. Im on 2.2 right now and it won't see the 2.3 update at all.

Ok so i need to send my inc 2 in for a refurb. I am currently running AOKP build 37 with aeroevans v9ics kernel and an unlocked BL. How do i return to complete stock unrooted?
i've seached all over the forum and can't find anything. It was easy with my droid x2 because you could just run the SBF with RSD Lite.
I also have the new software version 6.1 if thats any help.

It didnt say anything. It found the PG32IMG.zip file, ran it, and then returned to the bootloader screen. I tried running it again just in-case something weird happened, but same result.
also on a side note im s-on, the 6.1 OTA doesn't allow s-off at this time

I didn't think about that. That could be the issue then. No nandroid backup of your stock ROM right?
I'm thinking the best you can do is find a similar to stock ROM and install that. Most times the service techs don't look to hard at a device to see that it is running a custom ROM.

Okay I've been getting reports of roms not flashing right for the marvelc. So I set out for a solution and found one I believe. One issues with some roms, is that people have been doing it wrong since they got the phone. From Gsm recovery to even gsm roms. They used cmtd a very bad idea ect ect. So now, id like to present my method for fixing all of this. First, soff your hboot, then upgrade and unlock. install custom recovery and wipe all of the partitions. Then reboot to fastboot and flash the recovery posted bellow. Report back with any findings
http://goo.im/devs/simonsimons34/marvelc/cm9/tests/recovery.img
I was just wondering if you could give step by step instructions to flashing the recovery.img. File.
Download it. Rename to recovery.img. Place in the same directory as fastboot and adb.
Put your phone into fastboot (adb reboot bootloader).
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Simonsimons34 I have tried many things but this CWM actually let me flash a rom your great!! thanks so much and this worked for me
Glad to hear it this recovery has all the bugs with flashing and backups fixed so you should be good for the life of the phone

To flash the RUU, You must Relock the bootloader first.
I can't be much help on returning the phone to s-on, other than to tell you it would take an image (before you s-off'd) and some jtag kung-foo skills
Not something easy.

p.s the rom i have is a stock rooted rom, of course custom kernel i added too, i can fool the uscc store upon return of the device except the phone info on lock bar ect says virgin mobile, i think its cool, but its gonna be hard to pull that one off i think lol
If you flash the RUU for your carrier it will give you a stock rom kernel and recovery so it won't say virgin mobile

You need to search through the dev section, for the radios / hboot thread. Pick the version you want from the thread, and then follow the instructions. Personally, I recommend the 2.10 hboot, but there really is no need for you to change your hboot.

His advice is best, however;
you need to be S-OFF first before you can flash radios. You will need to flash this file through your (Custom) Recovery first.

I'm on the GSIII, I used to be on the evo and did some good work here, lol. if you want a 100% stable rom, you'll need to look at gingerbread roms. Most of the ICS roms are fairly stable, but have bugs inherent to them, like no front facing camera, due to hardware limitattions, etc, and some jellybean roms, but they'd have bugs as well.

Haven't you heard of Kitchen? Crossfire has probably used kitchen to make the stock roms in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143410 Flashing the non rooted one is just a back up of a fresh European Rom turned in to a zip and the process of flashing the zip is way more efficient and easier than re-locking the bootloader and then flashing ruu which may take 10mins+.
