Hi.
I have bought a Desire Z and it seems to be broken.
After startup of Android (lockscreen and pin request is loaded) phone reboots everytime.
So it is turned on only for few seconds.
I have tried to make factory reset, clean cache and flash it with
RUU_Vision_Gingerbread_S_hTC_Asia_TW_2.42.709.10_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_201045_signed.exe
from here:
shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision
(phone has radio 26.10.04.03_M) and nothing has changed. Still rebooting.
Does anybody know what is the problem?
Thank you very much. Andrew
try superwipe, i had same issue and it fixed that.
details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044992
how can I flash it, if I haven't a CWM recovery but only stock recovery?
If I rename it to update.zip and try to flash it with stock recovery it says: -- Invalid Operation -- and then it reboots.
I can't install CWM because I haven't access to android to root it and install CWM.
Could take it to a cell phone repair store. Sounds like a previous owner screwed up a flash and got into a boot loop.

So you are trying to flash something and you state that your not even rooted? How did you flash the first time as per your OP
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
ok, if it is not rooted, try use stock recovery and flash RUU_Vision_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.42.405.2_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_199043_signed.exe. of course take rom.zip out of this exe file and rename it to PC10IMG.zip. You need to have Gold Card otherwise it will fail.
if this is still rebooting, i dont have another idea. maybe really put it in repair center.

yes, I tried to run instalator named RUU_Vision_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.42.405.2_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_199043_signed.exe when phone was in fastboot and it, I think, successfully flashed it.

Is it possible to gain Gold Card without root?
The Gold Card means type of sdcard or some certificate?
Because I have rooted another Desire Z and I have that sdcard from it. Is it sufficient?
Or is it possible to gain it on another Desire Z?

Yes I will, if everything other fails because it doesn't have warranty anymore. And if it is problem with motherboard, it will be more expensive than new used Desire Z.
just make a new gold card, guides all over the web to do this. you dont need root for a gold card, but for our phones it is part of the rooting process. this allows you to have an older version rom update. dont use fastboot just let the bootloader do it. once renamed and put on the root of your sd card (gold card now) power on holding volume down. the phone will look around for it, say yes to prompt and now hope it will fix your issue

But I need an adb access to phone which I haven't. I can't activate it, because phone reboots too early and I thing that from bootloader it is not possible. Or it is? How? Can I get a CID from another source?
OKEY! I just solved the restarting. Yeah!
After start I puted phone to flight mode immediately as possible.
So It seems to be the problem with radio or sim modul or something like that.
Do you have any ideas? I wil try to downgrade it tomorrow and then I will write here.
Thank you very much for your help.

Can you access recovery via the hboot menu?
If not, have you tried flashing a new recovery via fastboot?
Also, and this would help the most, how did that happen? I mean: did something go wrong while flashing some zip or radio? Please explain a bit further so it can be easier to help you out...

I see...well imho flashing a new recovery could do the trick for you.
First of all let me know this: have you got s-off? If so you can use fastboot commander to flash it, very easy and fast.

s-off? hmm dunno lol
I originally rooted using goldcard method and flashed the rooted zip then many different roms since. recently used unrevoked to get clockworkmod recovery which was working fine and flashed a new rom and then tried unrevoked again to get amonra but then i got to this situation
Hope this helps
Get the RUU your Desire came with and go back to that. Then start again
I have s-on and tried ruu's but failed as have no working goldcard and i have 1.21 on phone and the voda ruu that my phone came with is 1.19
Ive tried the PB99IMG.zip method but that just shows main version higher error is there a way to trick this stage?
I'd just stick to using a stock WWE ROM until the 2.10.161.2 RUU shows up (if at all)
whats the diff between RUU and PB99*.zip? I have the same problem also. Cant access clockworkmod.
Im thinking of flashing it again using PB99 in hboot then root again. Or how can we flash the recovery?
No difference, just that an RUU needs Windows. Both wipe the phone and reset it back to 'out the box'
I see so I can flash PB99 in HBOOT(transfer pb99 to sdcard) then root again?
Or is there another way I can access the recovery or flash the recovery?
Thanks
Just flash the zip from hboot and then root again with unrevoked. Then set the phone up again as it'll be wiped

Thanks! It worked. I'll root it using unrevoked then, how do I make that clockworkmod recovery permanent or something?
When you use unrEVOked it flashes Clockwork Mod as your recovery so it'll be permanent (unless you unroot again)
This might work for of you
WAIT, BEFORE YOU START, CREATE A GOLDCARD. IT IS VERY NECESSARY. THINGS WILL GO WRONG IF YOU DONT.
EDIT: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BOOT GO TO THE BOOTLOADER MENU.
Firstly, download this file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13240777/Desire Downgrade.ZIP
Extract the files.
Run the win-down.bat file.
Follow on screen instructions.
After the process is completed, Head to the root of your SD card and check if there is a file named P99***IMG (FORGOT THE EXACT NAME BUT IT SHOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS) there should be one.
Secondly, disconnect your phone and turn it off.
After that boot up your phone while pressing the volume down button and the power button.
The bootloader should be checking for files after awhile and once it found the file that is supposed to be in the root of your sd card, press the volume up button (NOT EXACTLY SURE, SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT SAYS YES AND CONTINUE)
It should be writing files to your phone. and replaces everything. E.G: HBOOT, RECOVERY,RADIO and such.
It should be writing files successfully and then it would ask you to reboot. Continue with the reboot and you should be having your Desire back to stock. Perfect.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE RISKS INVOLVED LIKE FAILURE OF WRITING TO THE HBOOT. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. MAINLY, DO NOT BLAME ME FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG.
FINALLY, YOU SHOULD BE READING EVERYTHING UP TO HERE AND THAT YOU MUST HAVE A GOLDCARD (A GOLD SD CARD)
Hope this helps you and please ask if you have further questions. PM me if the questions cannot be answered here. Good Luck
you got the error of a higher main version because you did not have a GOLDCARD.

Hi there.
Sorry to jump in on your thread but wondered if you can help. Have the same problem as you and can't create a goldcard as I can't boot up my phone. Could I use a clone of your goldcard if you were kind enough to email it to me or would that not work?
Thanks,
Matt

Im afraid each goldcard has a specific cid used to create the goldcard
My advice is to borrow another android phone/device with sd slot and use it to get your cid. Theres a handy program on the market to get your cid for you, just search for goldcard on market when your sd is inserted.
When you have the cid go on the internet and get your goldcard image. Put ur sd in your comp and do a full format as fat32 and use hxd to turn it into a goldcard.
Thats how I did it! :-D
So i wanted to get the new cm7 up and running. went into hboot and noticed that i still had .77 or something like that, remember reading that i should upgrade to .92. went back into the phone, downloaded .92, installed it....ever since then i haven't been able to reboot the phone into anything...besides hboot. it won't go into recovery. it won't do a normal reboot. it's hboot or nothing. this phone isn't the only contact with my family at home during the day that i have. so if anyone can help me i'd be very appreciative. If it involved adb...i would need exact lines of code. i've never messed with it, so its not in my bag of tricks. the phone was having issues with boot times for the last couple of days, but it always wound up booting up. well i've been waiting on it to boot up into recovery for 10 min now, and i don't think my luck for the day is about to get any better. did battery pulls, still nothing.
any info or help at all would be GREATLY appreciated.

Did hboot upgrade or not? How are you trying to get into recovery?

it says it did. at the top of the hboot screen it says .92.000 and i'm just going to the recovery option from hboot. it won't boot the phone or into recovery though. just sits on the white htc screen, for 6 hours now.
When you update HBOOT, it can bork your boot.img. Reflash CWM and then restore a nandroid and you should be fine.
how do i reflash cwm when it won't even let me into recovery? i can update pb13img...thats abt it from what i can tell. lol.

Hboot automatically recognizes the pb12img... It's the first thing it does.
Put the file on the root of the SD card (not in any folders), boot into the Hboot and let it do it's thing.
your sd card NEEDS to be formatted to fat32 though.

Recovery is flashed from HBOOT via a PB31IMG.zip, not from within itself. You can use the PB31IMG.zip that I've linked to below.

Some short questions, is it still necessary to use htvdev.com to unlock the bootloader? And is it already possible to flash the radio.img directly via fastboot?

I have the same question. My HTC ONE X is stuck on flight mode, it's stuck on : "Turning off". This happened after i updated the official phone software a couple of days ago. I have tried everything, even factory reset. But it's still doing the same thing. Do you think flashing the radio fixes this? Is it possible without unlocking the bootloader? Because if this doesn't work, i am going to send the phone back for warrantee. I have only got this phone for 5 days.

Yes, unlocking via htcdev is the only method at the moment if your device isn't already s-off.
And you can flash radio.zip files via a custom recovery.

I know it's a pain but, you should try a factory reset, if that doesn't work I'm afraid you don't really have much choice either root and try flashing a new rom and/radio or send it out for HTC to have q look at.

I had a similar problem recently on my stock One X - I had no service and my radio wouldn't turn on. I resolved it by turning off Fast boot (Settings - Power)

No. What problem are you trying to solve with a new radio?
TWRP and CWM 5.8.4.0 should both be able to mount SD card, are you unable to find the option? Is there an error?

Thought it was a bad flash. After a fresh radio + ROM via TWRP my phone wouldn't boot. Waited 30 or so minutes before performing a hard reset. After rebooting into recovery my SDcard refused to mount no matter what I tried with no way to fix it (wouldn't even wipe).
Kind of a long story but after numerous failed attempts to format it after mounting the SDcard via USB storage on different Windows and Linux machines, I used ADB to push the ROM to the data partition, mounted it as the SDcard and installed it that way. Worked like a charm and after the first boot I was able to format the corrupted SDcard and all was solved.
Hello,
I, ve been reading xda for many years and had many android devices (recently SGSII for 2 years). I have quite an experience flashing roms, using recoveries etc... But this time on HTC One X+ (international) I really need XDA users help, thats why I decided to write this post.
I know it's OneX forum, but maybe someone experienced this problem and devices are similar.
I have a new unbranded HOX+, managed to unlock its bootloader, flash TWRP (for my version of HOX+) and from there flash superuser.zip. All worked ok (didn't produce any errors). Root is ok. But after a while, when I turned on the phone and tried to install an APK from PlayStore or read gmail - phone rebooted.
And it stills constanly do this whatever I try to do. Phone reboots whithout any change. I cannot relock bootloader, wipe, flash, install apps or copy files to phone. Every time I try to simpy use it, it just reboots with state reverted to the moment of first boot after rooting. If I leave it alone it still reboots, but after a while.
Adb and fastboot connections are available , but it looks like they are unable to commit any change. Stock rom with TWRP. I can boot to TWRP, but nothing there give a result. I can wipe, format, fix permissions, it all says operation went ok, but after a reboot, my system is unchanged.
Fastboot flashes of boot.img or recovery.img report success, but after reboot kernel / recovery aren't changed. Same with relocking bootloader, it reports that has been locked, and in bootloader mode i still see big, pink "UNLOCKED". So I also cannot flash RUU.
It seems I am unable to normally use my brand new smartphone and change anything.
Does anyone have a clue how to fix it?
Please help. I desperately need suggestions.
Thanks.
EDIT:
A tried ADB sideload today, but after the file is sideloaded it can't be flashed - TWRP considers it corrupted and it vanishes after rebooting - AS EVERY CHANGE
I hope I didn't ruined my phone the first hour I got it, and XDA members could still help me. PLEASE

TWRP for OneX+ does not allow to mount usb, or al least I can't find that option.
It seems it's kind of emmc chip failure, but unfortunatelly i can't relock bootloader so HTC warranty service probably wouldn't fix it

I'm pretty sure your only recourse is HTC for repair.
Hey pals. I have an issue with my DHD...I am running CyanogenMod 10.1 and yesturday someone messed with the developer options and chose to emulate a 1024x760, or something like that, display. The phone froze and I had to remove the battery to shut it down...However when I try to do a factory reset through CWM recovery the phone freezes on the HTC logo and when I try to boot It freezes before reaching the home screen. I realized that this phone can't boot normally now cos the display emulation i talked about earlier is causing an issue, and the situation has been complicated by the fact that I cant use CWM recovery...So I cant acces the phone completely...So I am wondering if there is a way to undo that setting without using CWM recovery...Something like maybe removing the battery or opening it up n remove something for some time etc. Any help will be appreciated.

You are s-off dont use ruu, it may make you s-on.
Press Fastboot then do the flashing from cmd cd to your your-android-sdk-folder-location-here/platform-tools/fastboot.exe like cd c:/android/ then do fastboot flash recovery.img and make sure you have recovery.img in your tools folder. You can find a .img from the thread I posted previously (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2317202&d=1381475742) in this example extract it place .img in the platform-tools location and rename the .img to recovery.img
Flashing a ruu wont make you loose s-off, it makes you loose root. Two completely different things.
Your issue happened when you did the factory reset.
One possible solution is to:
Flash ruu
Flash a recovery
Flash rom
As long as your phone is recognized by your pc (which may not due to having done tue factory reset - can't remember if it does or doesn't), then you should be good to go.

Well in my research (back in 2010) to flash a ruu with a previous version you need a gold card. After you get the ruu as a PDxxxxx.zip format (look for a desire hd one as others will brick your phone) and place it in the root of your sd card. Reboot your phone in recovery and press vol+ to flash, and wait for 10-20mins and your phone should be alive.
Some sd's dont work with gold cards (in my experience, a kingston 16gb didn't work but a samsung 8gb did for some reason)
I guess the journey just ended...I renamed the touch recovery zip file to PG....zip and booted into bootloader.
