Any way to change notification icons? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I was wondering if there was a way to change the icons(or even color) of the notifications. My Gmail folder looks just like the Exchange folder and Id like to differentiate the two a little bit more.

can anyone point me to the direction on getting a different color "GMAIL" Widget..besides the "RED" one.....HTC EVO......Thank you....
get a custom rom?
Gmail Unread Count is on the market. You can change colors from the settings menu.
Gmail Label Notifier from the market works great, you can customize almost everything and set up seperate notifications for individual labels, you can even use a custom image for the icon. Give it a shot you wont be dissapointed.

Is it possible to do these things on the Galaxy Nexus?

I'm a new GNex owner, and having used other Android overlays such as HTC's Sense, I was wondering if it's possible (if there are any mods possibly?) to do:
- Link Facebook status updates with contacts
- Link Facebook pictures with contacts
If the two above are not possible:
- When setting a 256x256 picture that is good quality as a contact picture, is there a way to have it remain good quality? Every picture I assign contacts looks like crap and pixelated
Adding on:
- Is it possible to create folders in the app drawer?
- Is it possible to change the color of a new message in the text messaging application? When you get a new text it's white instead of light grey, and it's hardly noticeable which conversation is the new one.. is there a way to set the new conversation (in the message inbox overview) to say a light blue that matches the rest of the UI? Or even have a notification beside the message (where it displays all the messages) to let you know which one if the new message?
Thanks.

**I believe there is an app called hacksync or haxsync (not sure on the spelling) that lets you link up contact pics through facebook. having never used it I can't tell you if it is in the store or here on XDA. I would do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.

**Unfortunately this is a problem on Google's end. The servers they use to store contact information on have very low picture resolution. like 96x96 low. Solution: in the account settings, turn off sync google pics or use hacksync

**Neither one of these options are possible unless your rooted. even then I haven't seen a mod for adding folders to the app drawer. It could be out there but I doubt it. There are mods for changing the apperance of the stock msg app but you are limited to whatever the themer wants it to look. (I actually feel the same way about the calender ut so far I haven't seen a good replacement theme for it yet). however, if you want full control to customize your SMS the way you want, you can either download GO SMS or Handcent SMS from the store. Both offer full customization for all aspects of the application.
I hope this helps

HaxSync (and others) will link photos to contacts from FB.

Not to my knowledge. Definitely not in stock.

Alternate SMS apps can surely configure colors.
Thanks for the responses.
I downloaded HaxSync and it's awesome! The pictures are good quality and it shows recent activity from my contacts.
I'm going to try an alternative messaging application. If I have two messaging applications open though at the same time (does the stock messaging app run as a background process all the time?), will it slow my phone down?

It will run, and is required to fetch the messages. It won't slow anything down.
Go launcher EX allows you to make folders in the app drawer i believe.
I havent used it for a while but its a really good replacement launcher and has tons of features.
You might like that.

It'll be fine mate, just remember to turn off the notifications in the stock messaging app.

Not at all. Just disable notifications in the stock app and you're good to go with the replacement.
I'm on stock yakju 4.04 and yes, I'm able to create a folder and drag it to my app tray.

And how exactly do you do that?

calendar event colors

Sorry if im posting this in the wrong section
I have a gnex on 4.1.2 with the latest calendar update, but i cant figure out how to change the calendar event colors when i create or edit one. It lets me change the calendar i want it on, but not theindividual event color.
Does anybody know how to do this?
The only way i know is to go to the desktop version... but that sort of defeats the point of having the calendar on my phone
Thanks
I don't think it's possible to do so yet, on the mobile app.
Let's hope Google adds this feature in the future.
I am more concerned with the fact that the calendar colors are totally different for the same calendars on mobile and desktop. Haven't you noticed? I really hope they fix that first.
The colors show up the same on my desktop and mobile. My problem is i just cant change the colors from mobile... sucks!!! I hope they change it this should have been there since the begining its such a basic function

[Q] Strange font input

Hi
My htc One has just been upgraded to Lollipop and I note that all the descriptive text (such as the snippets of emails , unread counts on icons, etc) is showing up as outline only as on attachment. I cannot find a setting which allows me to modify this although I have tried a number of different fonts and also looked for some means of editing on both Android settings and my Nova launcher as well. I'm sure there's a setting I can use SOMEWHERE, but so far I'm unable to find it. Any ideas out there?
Thanks

[Q] Contact widget issue

I had to delete and recreate the 1X1 Contact widget and now it has a white box around the contact. Anyone ever seen this and more importantly know how to fix it? I've tried rebooting, recreating etc.... But it's still there and looks ugly and bothers me. Anyone??
Bump. Anyone? Ideas?
I don't believe there is a way unless you change your icons. (Think icon pack from the play store.) The circles you see are Lollipops way of displaying contacts... in an annoying circle. As of yet I have not been able to find a setting to change the way the phone displays the contacts. (Like as a square with the full icon in view.)
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

No, that actually helps. I recall just recently getting a 100-something MB update and from around that same time, the bubble turned into a square. I guess it changed between 5.0.1 and 5.1. I liked it being just the circle, but now it shows the circle INSIDE a square and it's ugly as crap.
If you click on the icon you can modify it selecting an image which you can crop. Then it shows now white around the image.
