Hey guys - anyone else been getting screen flickering on their HOX-quadcore?
Only seems to happen in certain situations, but normally when a dialogue box is open over top of a white background does it do it.. But it doesn't ALWAYS do it either... Seems to be based on the background lighting in the room?
Also seems quite prominent under Fluro-tube lights.
Other than this one thing - i freakin LOVE this phone

Are you serious?! There are already 2 major threads about it. For example:

You didn't search did you ?

please try this in your phone .set your brightness in lowest .For me it's most noticeable when i'm scrolling slowly, e.g. when in the settings menu, or the twitter app. Try scrolling very slow up or down in settings,.
I think this should be common problem .please test your one .
Yes that happens, but it is not an actual screen flickering issue, rather an optical illusion created by textured backgrounds. I don’t use twitter, therefore not sure what kind of a background it has, but if you look closely at the white background displayed in phone settings, you will see that it has a textured background with very thin diagonal lines. Its more visible when the brightness is low because otherwise the lines are too light to be noticed.
Go to this page and scroll the page, you will see the same flickering effect on your computer monitor

this link shows the problem that I have with my phone .in this link I see same flickering and I understand this is a optical illusion .but I think our phones problem is not a optical illusion .because I tried several htc one x ,30% of them had this problem .also you can find this problem in any white page.
Can you find this flickering in your phone ?
what about others ?
Just as well I'm using auto brightness - no issues for me!
Seriously, are you trying to find problems??
Try with screen filter app. It flickering a lot
I found a new issue - when I look at my screen through my polarised Ray Bans I see random colours and it flickers like mad - it MUST be faulty!!

I can ONLY see the flickering effect in the settings page. It doesn't happen on any other normal white backgrounds. That is why I said it is an optical illusion.

Hi,
I need a way to color some pixels in white, and I need them to always be white.
In fact, I have a Zenfone 2 551ml. There is a bug: the bottom half of the screen sometime flickers and shows verticals lines. It is a known bug, and it is a HW problem.
But I have found that when the line between the working half and the glitchy half has at least one white pixel, the glitchy half works just fine.
It is weird, isn't it? I know my phone needs to be repaired, but I'm not a home, so a temporary solution would be fine.
I can use root apps if needed.
So does anyone know how to color some specific pixels, and how to have them always colored (on the lock screen, on any application...)?
Thank you
I use a white wallpaper. The settings and search windows work too.
man i registered specially to thank you >>> i used an app called "Overlays - Float Everywhere" to make a whitte dummy overlay across the blinking borders and it worked!!! thank you very much

Thank you for discovering this app! I now use it too, the only problem is that the dummy overlay can't be thin enough :/ But it still fix the bug
Hey guys, having an extremely annoying problem here. Hoping it's an easy solution but I must be Googling the wrong terms as I can't find what I'm looking for.
Pixel 2 owner here, and when I am shooting videos, for instance against a white background, the temperature keeps rapidly changing instead of changing constant. The walls will turn "yellowish orange" tint as the temp gets warmer for no reason, then as I adjust the phone while recording, it will go back to a neutral white backdrop and the colors no longer look a shade of yellow.
Basically everything keeps shifting to warm tones against my will, and it's extremely frustrating.
Is this something I can disable?

What light are you shooting videos under vs. the camera settings? For example fluorescent light is notorious for bad coloring. Agree "auto" should work, but if you're looking for a toggle, I would start there. Pick a light setting that matches the environment and see if it improves your results.
Hello, I'm facing a sort of problem. When I look at the locked screen it has a calibration, but when I drop down the quick toggle or I unlock the screen it turns a little bit more yellowish. I don't think it's hardware related but could someone give me an explanation?
I think it's because of the FP sensor. To improve the recognition maybe.
Or it is a bug like the dark theme not being dark in some apps, Chrome, YouTube, Shelf. Top of the screen is less dark, like a little bit green. Not a hardware issue though, settings and built in apps ark dark (Dialler, Messages). I think it is something with the theme settings.
It's all normal. The lockscreen has this colder/blueish tone, like a filter, which goes away after unlocking. Nothing to worry about, not a bug or a defect. Just the way it's designed to work.

I don't think so.
With every app that request fingerprint authentication the color of the screen changes.
It must be something related to improve fingerprint accuracy
I am not talking about the screen with FP scanner active. Just check the dark themed Chrome, Shelf, YT. Especially on the dimmed screen. Upper part is a little greenish. Cannot make a screenshot as it looks ok on it. It has to be sth with theme, as on some apps (dialler, messages, settings) the whole screen is dark (black).
Something like this:

On picture we could clearly see green tint defect
Yep, and it looks like software issue to me.
Screen pics
As you can see, app is a little green, but quick settings are black when dragged down. Screen is fine, I believe.

Thats because green tint is only visible on certain brightness levels at grey background. No problem on black background
The issue related to the lock screen is present any time the through screen fingerprint camera activates. You will also notice it if you have face unlock active in low light and the screen lights up to assist the front camera in recognizing you. Color spectrum is super important to cameras when they are recognizing things on our skin.

That apps are not black, are grey. "Dark mode" does not mean "black".
In other way, all amoled panels have (or can have) this kind of behaviours at very low bright level and certain colours (especially grey).
Particularly, I do not see that effect in mine or I just cannot see it.
If you think that is a defect or problem, why not open a repair request to OnePlus?

After the 12.5 (Indian) update, I'm starting to notice that the colours of the display has gone weird. It doesn't look like an amoled anymore. Is anybody else experiencing this?

Also the display is perfectly fine in lock screen. The colours go weird after I unlock the phone.
While trying the latest miui build I noticed that blacks don't really turn the pixels off like an amoled should. You can notice this for example in the camera app at the top and bottom bars that should be black but in reality are slightly red, only noticable in a dim room or if you crank the brightness. I think this is their way of "fixing" gradient issues on this phone and it indeed is less present but at what cost?

Ah so it is indeed because of their gradient issue. I hope they completely fix this one day.
