I am running hellfire's cm9 ROM and l love it, except for one thing. I accidentally chose trebuchet as my default launcher after putting in a ton of work on NOVA launcher. Now I can't even find the trebuchet launcher in my apps to clear the default.
I'm sure there's a simple solution, but I would be most appeciative if one of you could point me towards it.
Thanks!
clear defaults. Application management -> trebuchet
It's not listed as an app under downloaded, usb storage, or running. That was what I first tried.
Found out what to do. Apparently though trebuchet was running, it was not an installed app from the ROM flashing. I used a file manager to locate it and install it in the system. Then I was able to choose NOVA again as my default. Not sure why an app would be put on the ROM and be able to be used but not actually installed. Oh well, all's well that ends well I suppose.
Probably easier than that install apex you will be given the opportunity to choose again for your default then choose nova
Actually that would have worked too.
safer than digging around in system or app files to find a solution

Also on the top where the list is of downloaded, usb, and running there is another option that you can't see because you have to scroll to the right it called all. And it is in fact in there i just checked.

Two things I've found that work well:
- There's an app on the Play Store called Home Switcher for Froyo. It works with any version of Android, Froyo or later, including ICS. Lets you clear the default launcher no matter what that is.
- Whenever I update or install a launcher app, it always gives me the popup another time. So installing another launcher, like Apex, will give you the choice again.

EDIT: An alternative home launcher must be installed to take advantage of the "Activities" option. I have LauncherPro installed.
This is a simple workaround for those of us who have had a problem with the World Clock disappearing from the app drawer...I have attacthed the apk if you can't find it on your system!
First-Verify that Htc Clock is installed by performing a Google search with the search soft key (This is the only way it will work)...

Second-Long press any home screen and tap shortcut...
Third-Tap Activities (It may take a few seconds to load)...
Fourth-Tap Clock...
Fifth-Tap WorldClockTabControl...
Sixth-Place Clock Shortcut on any screen and enjoy

I don't think it's ever been in my app drawer. You get to it by tapping on a widget on the homescreen.
And for your workaround, you need LauncherPro installed. It does not have to be the launcher you are using. The "activities" is a LP feature, not a sense one.
I've only had this phone a couple of weeks but I remember when I first got it there was a shortcut in the app drawer....however, a few days later i recieved and OTA so maybe that's why it disappeared. Either way, this may help someone find a quicker way to get up for work in the mornings
Please read the second part of my post. You left something out of your instructions.
oops....your are very correct. forgot all about that part
This method does not work for me (the apk fails to instal). Does the phone have to be rooted?
I messed up again. Wrong apk. Bear with me, I'm still learning. Lol
I'm away from my computer for the nxt couple of days, send me a pm and I'll email you my old desk clock to use untill I can post the correct apk.
In the meantime you can always access deskclock by tapping the time on clock widget

I have been experiencing this very strange issue. I keep getting Force close warnings pop up whenever I use my phone, I don't do anything in particular and it just pops up. I've started getting this error all the time ever since I got the 4.0.4 update a few weeks back. I don't know whether it is an app that causes it but I have no calendar app installed or anything I feel interferes with the calendar. I am attaching some screenshots of the problem I am seeing with some details on the error:

}
I would appreciate any help I can get on this. I am using the stock image from Google (unrooted) but bootloader unlocked. I've tried wiping the phone and starting fresh but to no avail. I've wiped cache, dalvik etc... but still same issue. I am on 4.0.4 (IMM76I).
I similarly experienced the same issue, I realized though for me it was my launcher pro app. I'm running a rooted GNex with 4.0.4 on the Gummy Rom. I fixed the problem by using another launcher, more specifically GO Launcher. I was trying to put my work calendar (Microsoft Exchange) and my google calendar in the same place (Launcher Pro gave me this capability with their calendar widget), but I was unable to use Launcher Pro anymore due to the fact that there was no development for it anymore. Anyway, if you try maybe switching launchers? I'm not really sure though.
Thanks for your input. I use the default stock ICS launcher. I have a feeling an application may be to blame but I can't think of anything that would interfere with my calendar. I'll have to try and remove one app at a time to find the trouble maker.
Ok, before anyone says search or that manufacturer widgets dont work on 3rd party launchers, i'm aware of that. However, I also haveanlg g2 that is running a slimmed stock based rom with Nova launcher and I am able to add lg widgets. For me it is mainly the calendar widget from lg which I typically prefer over others I have tried, but given the similar platform if they work on the g2 i would think they could work here.
I personally think there is something a little off with permissions maybe (and maybe a dev can help) because the other odd thing I see is that the stock lg apps show the default 'bugdroid' icon in 3rd party launchers and show the real icon in the stock launcher. In fact, for Novaif Itry and change the icon it actually shows blank placeholders where email or calendar would be listed (see screenshot)

Smart launcher free and pro is able to show all LG app icons. Solo launcher also supports LG icons too.

Thanks for the heads up on those two launchers. I gave them a shot and you're right they work, I wonder what it is that is different with them? Any ideas? I'd still like to know why the stock widgets are accessible on the g2 and not here for Nova though.

Here is a little holiday weekend gift for everyone.
Since we don't yet have a built-in custom power menu, here is a 6 way power menu
which can be used to replace the stock built-in power button completely so we can
reboot download mode, recovery mode, power down, soft reboot and screen off
without the need of the usual 3 finger salute. It even looks like it's part of the firmware.
You can add this power menu to your home screens. (this is not a widget)
Here is the download link for it: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347809104
Install it like any other apk... Requires root access.
Here is a screen shot of what it looks like:

Thanks for this. Works good.

The icons works with most 3rd party launchers like Next Launcher 3D,
Nova, ADW, Action, Smart and Go Launcher.
However it will NOT work with the stock touchwiz launcher at all.
Personally I like the Next Launcher 3D the best.
You need to get the "Cobalt Icon Pack from the playstore to get it working.
Here is the direct link for the "Cobalt" icon pack at the playstore in case you
want to check it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dustinb.icons.cobalt
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Hi, I have a rooted S20+ and I wanted to hide some apps from the app drawer, since I already have them in my home screen and I see no sense in having two shortcuts to them. Also, this would "clean" the app drawer a bit.
The things is, I can't hide them. If I use the "hide app" option on settings, it will go away from the home scree too. I want a wayto display them in home screen only. Also, even when an app is hidden, it will still appear if you search for its name in the search bar... Some apps I want completely hidden, from app drawer, homescreen and search. While others I want only in homescreen or only in app drawer. Is this possible to do or I will have to use another launcher?
I used to use Lightning Launcher in my previous phone, but I wanted to use Samsung OoneUI native launcher, since it's native, cleaner and easier to edit.
You can't hide app and keep it's shortcut on home screen same time, sry!

You can, but not yet...
I'm working on an xposed module that will allow you to easily do that. I've already implemented mentioned feature to xperia devices >> here << (Features > All Apps).

Samsung's stock launcher is based on the same aosp launcher on which xperia is (com.android.launcher3 - well modified, I gotta say).
Stay tuned (no eta)!
Ok, thanks anyway. I am using the Lightning Launcher again, for now. It's a very good launcher anyway.
