I don't get what the issue is...if you have already run the Hack Kit and you wanto to boot normally, then delete the PD98IMG file in your sdcard. There's no reason for that file to be there. If you want to UNROOT the phone, then use the Hack Kit to revert to stock by choosing the correct option. If the PD98IMG file u are using is intended to be used on a different model with a specific CID that is not yours, then you won't be able to flash it...

Go and do all like in tutorial in aahk ...
I had the same problem about CID error.
Go and make goldcard, for tutorial search in xda or in google.
If it still fails, or says "this is older version" - delete aahk, disable anti-virus (all of them) and other unless programs and redownload aahk, then do the same.
I done this, and ir success.

[Solved] RUU failure, boots to HTC logo but can be fastbooted. What next?

Hello all,
I am sorry for starting yet another failed RUU thread but I am struggling to find any solution on this. I am relatively capable having rooted, s-off, updated radios etc on my Desire HD. This one is above my level though...
I have tried to root the Desire using Unrevoked 3.32 but it kept failing. I decided to try a 'simple' RUU flash - no worries there, I thought. I cannot remember the original software or baseband numbers now. I have feeling that the radio was not identical on the RUU, as I could not find one on 'shipped roms' but I got one as close as possible (for O2 UK - there is a choice of two. One has radio 5.09.05.30 and one is 4.06.00.02. I went for the 5.* as the one I had was also 5.* but I think it may have been slightly different). The RUU got nearly to the end of the system section (90%) when it failed and gave an Error 110 (possibly corrupted data in the RUU).
Now when I reboot, I get a grey HTC in the centre with a /!\ in each corner. I was worried it was bricked, however, I can fastboot into the OS and use the phone normally. It just won't restart properly as it then goes back to the grey HTC /!\ situation. That seems to me that everything is working ok, I just have a software conflict somewhere... would that be a correct assumption? Either way, I am stumped as to what to do next, so advice would be really appreciated!!
(As it's my girlfriends phone, I could be in trouble here!! )
Thanks!!
Ok boot your phone and create a goldcard.
http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
If you have trouble setting ADB... Goto market and search for app called goldcard helper... it will give you the reverse CID and you can follow from step 7 from above guide.
After creating a goldcard.. flash below RUU
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe
The exact same thing happened to me when I decided to go back to stock a couple weeks ago. I just re downloaded the RUU from shipped roms and tried again and it was fine. I had to manually download and install the new market though once I'd set up as it wouldn't update itself
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Latest o2 UK RUU is this one (better link than shipped-roms):

Thanks for the quick replies guys!
jhonybravo4u - I'll try out some new RUU files before I give the GoldCard option a go. If I need to go that way, I'll let you know how I get on.
liberator72 - I did try redownloading once. The error does say that the RUU may be corrupted so that is a possibility. I'll try a few more times.

Cheers EddyOS. Hopefully they will be more stable hosts and I'll get a better download. I'll keep you posted!
Ok, downloaded from Rapidshare and got the same message...
ERROR [110]: FILE OPEN ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot open the requested files or the files are damaged. The RUU cannot continue with the update.
Please get a complete package and try again.

I'm going to try yet another download - the 4th attempt - so I may need to look for other solutions soon.
Ok, I have...erm... progress? I just tried the same RUU file straight away and now I get:
ERROR [155]: UNKNOWN ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update and try again.

The phone has gone to the RUU HBOOT page this time and shows that it failed on the:
[7] SYSTEM - Fail-PU
Click to collapse
Then tells me that 'Partition Update fail!'
The RUU program then gives me an option to go into recovery mode. I can go through this but unfortunately it seems to be a dead end.
Any suggestions?
Edit: Oh dear.... now the 'fastboot oem boot' just sits in the command prompt saying <waiting for device>.
This looks ominous....
Edit (2): The 'fastboot oem boot' has just worked again... Thank goodness!!

And I suggest to create goldcard before doing anything.. as that will get you out of any trouble.
As it seems your phone is branded.. and you wont be able to flash any other RUU
Thanks jhonybravo4u, I am just going via your proposed method. GoldCard is created and I am just flashing - or trying to - the RUU that you suggest.
Edit:
johnybravo4u, Sir, you are a legend! I'm in and recovered. Thank goodness!! If ever I pass Kuwait, I shall buy you a beer...
Now, to finish the rooting process...
Anytime Buddy....and for beer I may have to come to UK rather.. as in Kuwait thats not allowed ;-)

[Q] HTC Desire boot problem

Ok, before you guys all start flaming, I read all the topics on Desire boot problems.
A friend of mine has a Desire which suddely rebooted and came into a bootloop. Sometimes it even got till the unlock screen, but most of the times it rebooted in the HTC Quitely brilliant screen.
Now ive tried to "fix" this:
I first tried to install the latest RUU:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed
It gave either connection error [170], or went into bootloader and gave another error (signature error)
next option was to extract rom.zip from the RUU from the %TEMP% folder, rename this PB99IMG.zip (3x checked that it wasnt zip.zip was), put this on my goldcard (http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/). after that boot into bootloader and let it flash.
This flash gave no errors/fail, after that rebooted my phone. Than there is a green circular arrow logo with the middle arrow pointing down.. After that the phone reboots one last time (without vibrating) and is stuck at the HTC logo.
Also tried recovery factory reset.. to no avail
About the phone:
HTC Desire
HBoot 0.93.00001
S-ON
Not rooted
EDIT POST: Just switched from english to dutch, lol, was interrupted while writing (sorry lordvoldemort).
english please..cant understand your language

check the guide in my signature
I Dont see any options in your thread that I didnt point out above, and didnt work... As im still S-ON, the options are limited...
Sent it back to HTC and use your warranty.

as much as I hate advising to use that particular RUU it MAY help you.. or just make it worse..
since you have a goldcard try other RUU's maybe
Dont think I can use any other RUU's because it might be an SLCD desire, which means any RUU lower than 2.xx will brick the screen..
BTW Ive tried the gingerbread RUU, one time it went flashing but stayed like that for 1,5 hour... pulled the plug...
Most of the times it gives a verification error..
I suggest u S-OFF/root ur Desire and install a custom ROM.
See these: http://revolutionary.io/

Afer u`ve successfuly S-OFFed, search for a suitable pre-rooted ROM for ur SLCD Desire, on xda-developers, there`s plenty to choose from

[Q] Bricked after OTA update failed

Hi I've been searching for days and have always been able to find answers but this one has got me.
My gf has a HTC Desire HD, pretty sure it's Vodafone since she works there. Tried to do a normal update a while ago and it never started since, just sits on the HTC logo. I can boot into fastboot hboot recovery and all that but I'm stuck as to what to do from here.
I have found a couple of WWE RUU's but the error out with a CID error, I've also found a Vodafone backup someone took from clockwork but this phone only has stock recovery and I don't know how to flash clockwork without being able to boot the phone.
Hoping someone might have an easy answer, please let me know if I need to provide more details.
Thanks.
If its rooted just place a rom on the sd and flash it with full wipe. You are not suppose to accept OTA updates if the phone is rooted if Im not mistaken. If not rooted then go to HTC websight and get the official RUU and install, instructions should be on websight.

Get me the CID and Iwill provide u with a ruu that works...VODAFONE from where? not all ruu's are available, but at least we can find one that makes your phone back to work...:good:
Unfortuanately it isn't rooted, I probably would've had more luck by now if it was.
I can't see the CID on the bootloader is there a command on fastboot or something to find this? I've been searching but can't find anything.
Sorry I thought of that afterwards, it's Vodafone Australia.
Thanks for the replies guys!
I just tried that European RUU thought I didn't have anything to loose but it came back with ERROR 132 Signature Error.
The Australian HTC site doesn't have a RUU to download that I can see.

yep, do the following: boot in hboot and choose fastboot. Then plug the phone (check that you see fastboot usb in red)
Open cmd as admin or a terminal as root and then, type fastboot getvar all. Get the INFOcidnum and paste it here. With that I will try to find a ruu that works. But stop trying flashing other things...you might mess the device.
Hi
Thanks again for the help. The cidnum: VODAP021
Hope this helps, I haven't checked out those other links yet though.

Solution!!
Ok firstly sorry it's taken me ages to post this but I finally came up with a solution to this problem using a few different guides and instructions on these forums.
So the problem was I had a Vodafone AU branded HTC Desire HD that had no root and a locked bootloader that was stuck in a bootloop after a failed official update. The main problem is that there is NO stock recovery ROM ANYWHERE for a Vodafone AU HTC Desire HD, trust me I looked and I am not new to looking for stuff like this. glevitan provided me with a WW ROM that I managed to get working with a bit of work, there are also many WW ROM's around that you should also be able to use. I'll try to explain as best I can as to how I got it to work (going from memory) so if anyone else has a similar problem they may be able to use this information.
1. Firstly find a suitable WW ROM to flash, it needs to be a PD98IMG.zip image to copy to an SD card. There is a Vodafone AU dump on this forum but that will not work if you are completely stock standard. I think you can get this zip from the RUU or maybe ask glevitan if he wouldn't mind helping in providing this again. I didn't want to link to his file but there are others around.
2. Create a goldcard. If you turn your SD card into a goldcard it will allow any ROM to be flashed, normally it would only accept the Vodafone AU one but by doing this it will accept the WW one. To do this I used a second phone to create the card.
I used the Ultimate multi tool which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1180639
You may have to do a bit of reading on getting it to work, from memory you have to put in a number to a website to generate a file, I think I ended up using a different website, there's a few options in getting this done, google is your friend for this
3. Once the goldcard is created copy the PD98IMG.zip to the root directory and put it back into the phone.
4. Turn on the phone and boot to hboot by holding vol up (I think) on power on. The phone should automatically check for a suitable PD98IMG.zip file and as long as the goldcard process worked and you have a suitable ROM on the root directory it should flash it fine.
This is basically what I did and it successfully booted after a lot of looking around. I hope this helps people in the future with similar problems. If you need to ask any questions about this process as I haven't provided every single detail please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help you out.
Thanks again to glevitan for helping and providing a suitable ROM to flash.

[Q] Soft Bricked Telstra HTC Desire

Hiya Folks, I recently attempted to unroot a Telstra HTC Desire (GSM) that I have not used in about a year or so, it was originally running Froyo then unlocked with the unlockr and had Leedroid loaded in. I looked all over and found an unroot + flash to stock on the unlokr, However the program aborted about halfway through (it required me to be using HTC Sync), the phone or the system stopped talking to one or the other and has now soft/bricked the phone. Upon boot it will not go past the Telstra NextG loading screen. Is there a way to unbrick & reflash stock or am I now stuck with a paperweight ?.
I have read the other similar threads but most of those seem to require you to be able to access the boot loader
Any help is appreciated in this.
With the phone turned off, hold volume down + power
If it boots into bootloader then read this guide and do it the PB99IMG method

Thank you for the link, however whilst I am able to get into bootloader the unroot program requires a 'goldcard' the link it gives for the easy create
leads to another hosting site where it was pulled for 'copyright violations'. I did not have a goldcard to root the phone the first time as I used the unrevoked method

You'll likely need to use the 2.3.3 RUU, you can also find it in PB99IMG.zip format from users here.

That didnt Work bro still the same problem
You need to give more information: "that didn't work" or "all of them didn't work" isn't good enough to help us troubleshoot the problem....
- How are you trying to install the RUUs? Are you plugging them in and running them? Or using PB99IMG.zip method, does it find the zip file when booted into bootloader?
- Did the RUU fail to install? Did it come up with any error messages? If so could you tell us...
- Did the RUU install, can you boot into your phone and use it, but still getting the "process.acore has stopped" error?
Also it's useful to know your ultimate aim: are you going to sell the phone after RUU, or continue to use it?
Was your phone previously rooted? Do you want another ROM (obviously without the error). Why didn't you backup and try a different ROM? RUU tends to be last resort...
The more details you tell us, the more it becomes easier to help...

Do you try to use the phone normally, but the Process.Acore error keeps constantly appearing?
