Doubt it unless you have cwm or twrp or are rooted. Even then I think civato said there's a lot involved getting it running. This is meant for roms that already have the ring.

if u have root u need to flash the zip, add to /system/buid.prop these lines:
acer.shell.mode=ENABLED
acer.shell.launcher.mode=ANDROID
acer.shell.contacts.mode=ENABLED

Hmmm I wonder if that would work on a aosp rom... I wouldn't think so but next time I use cm9 I'll give it a try.

That's what I was thinking too but never hurts to try something new. The buid.prop. Changes suggest there's more to it then just slipping in the apk and adding some lines.

Edit: it worked and didn't change any mods to ring

When I attempt to change the settings on the Acer Ring, it gives the message, "Unfortunately Settings has stopped working" and goes back to the home screen. Will this patch fix that issue as well?
I wanted to find out before I sued a tool to flash it to the tablet. Thanks for your assistance!

It replaces the ring. It may or may not fix that issue, but try wiping dalvik and cache and fix permissions. Should stop that error.

Thanks pio_masaki, but that didn't resolve it. I opened a support case with Acer and of course they suggested their standard, "Factory Reset" which I didn't do because this has been an issue since I opened the box!
According to Acer, they haven't seen others with this issue, but i have seen some posts where people were having the issue. I told Acer if they didn't have anything other than "busy work" suggestions, I would leave the tablet as is. I am not going send it in for them to dink around with!
If anyone else has any suggestions, I am certainly open to them and thanks!

The a100 doesn't have a ring, so they can't help you with it.
You also can't really expect them to help on a custom rom either I'm surprised they even tried unless you didn't mention it was on a custom rom.
Sadly a reset is about all you can do now. Redownload the rom wipe EVERYTHING and flash. Or live with the error lol. Oh actually try deleting the Acer ring data then wipe cache dalvik and fix permissions. See if that helps. Does the ring work but the settings FC or the ring itself doesn't work?

My tablet is an Iconia A510, the new one. I tried deleting the Acer Ring, apk using Root Explorer and I wasn't allowed to change the permissions on the system\app files. I am running the stock ICS that came on the tablet, but I am, of course, rooted with a Custom Recovery
yes, the Ring does work, but the settings cannot be changed because of the FC issue. Since this was an issue right out of the box before I ever rooted or did anything, I'll live with the error until I can come up with some sort of fix.
Thanks you for your suggestions. They gave me a couple of things to try anyway!-Be blessed!

I would like to thank the authors of this discussion, following your advice I was able to activate Acer Ring on my A100 with stock rom 4.0.3, attach screen. THANK YOU, it's beautiful.
This discussion should be raised, such a beautiful mod is not added by Acer but lgcmn, you are a great.

I installed the fix Acer Ring dell'A100 on the stock rom, and it works well! I also downloaded the 1.0.2 update, however, is hard to see, it has a great view too, not that I would know the fix also help to make the new version?

[ROM] Vanilla AOSP 4.0.4 IMM76L with root and busybox (Updated with MODS) 6/12/12

Hey everyone.
I just wanted to share an ultra prestine build of the latest AOSP source, sync'ed tonight and compiled clean. I know there are ROMs with all sorts of great mods, pieces taken from CM9 and AOKP, linaro optimization, etc.... that isn't this ROM. This is simply the latest Google source of 4.0.4 IMM76L with root and busybox.
I built it for me and thought I'd share. Feel free to use it... or not.
As always, don't forget to Nandroid.
ROM:

3/12/12 11:30pm - Updated so reported model is "Galaxy Nexus". Thanks al2x for pointing it out.
The latest ICS GAPPS work for this one too:

MODS:
The following mods I've tested and work with this ROM:
Mods found in mwalts AOSP ROM also work for mine.

I don't think anything is taken out from vanilla to prevent you from using a tethering app for rooted phones in the market. I don't tether so I don't know for sure though.
I was referring to the native ICS tethering option under "More..." in "Settings". I'll try it out and update my own post with an answer.
This is great, I hope you can continue this style of being 100% stock with root/bb as the updates continue to flow for the GN...
I'm going to be flashing soon but I do tether so I hope it bypasses the subscription check...
It does not bypass the subscription check. but I'm pretty sure an edit of the framework.apk can fix that.
I'll try to update op with some mods tomorrow.

Thanks. I think I found the changes. I'll give it a shot when I get home from work.
Updated OP with Tethering, Menu, and Battery mod links.
mmuzzy, I've been using the ROM and it's been pretty snappy. The first flash didn't go so well, there were a few force close/force waits but i reflashed it now with a new download and I think it's been good.
One request is if you could possibly edit the name computers pickup as the MTP device... it recognizes it as "Full AOSP on Toro-VZW" rather than simply "Galaxy Nexus" lol
If there is any way you could include the stock Galaxy Nexus boot animation, that would be great, otherwise this rom is great!
thanks

Edit #2: saw a thread about a differnt rom needing specific gapps and without them it would do that gonna flash the ones from OP even though I have the 429 gapps already
Edit #3: thought that fixed it but it didn't. Maybe with a clean install with the gapps. I'll have to try in the morning.
Edit...again: more searching is bringing up that the ICS dictionary is missing or that there is a problem with the keyboard apk.

[APP]|Glazed Mods|A New Way To Mod|Beta|6-22-12|

Hey forum i back yet again, this time i present to you a new kind of app its called glazed mods. This app is so uniques to all the others, well maybe it may only be one of a kind. So what does this app do, easy it allows you to download the mods that are posted on it. I thought to myself, hmm why not make anyone on any rom enjoy this app, so i am, currently all of the apps are working on glazed ICS, any other rom such as gederom can only download the ones with a little orange plus on them.
By what i mean this app is one of a kind i mean that it uses a new way of presenting apps to you. So what makes it unique is that it is a WebView loading a 600*1024 flash website. It fits perfectly to your screen and the abbilities of flash is customization, and many other little tweaks that this app can support.
Things you need to know
Do not click an item multiple times it might cause the app to crash
There is an update feature that downloads the latest update of the roms listed, if you want to see more roms. Contact me or comment below, need devs permission.
You will recieve automatic updates but not by updating the app.
Please report any bugs in the request section

You have to install through the app in order to detect that it is downloaded. But you can reflash glazed ics or any other rom and it will delete all the mods.
Yes reboot into recovery works, but if you are using FFF 1.4a it doesnt (The one that can have 2 roms at a time)
alright thanks for the info

It needs su because It installs a custom virus. JK.I am using a lot of native code such as wget and that's why I need switch user permissions. It was not working until I added su -c.If you look in the super user logs you can see all commands it uses.

Oh a fix for your problem maybe would be to clear cache and data then reboot and it should work.
If that doesnt work you can use the pc version. Its not the best size in the world but it works.

It is set up to compile for android 4.0
Anyone else experience this?
After using the app and installing the inverted play store i was stuck at the boot animation, let it sit for 30 min with no luck so i had to restore a backup.
Knowing how stupid i am i went to restore a backup and i forgot that i had deleted both the rom zip and my backups from my sd card so i had to get out the ol' laptop, download the rom again and mount through twrp to install. Last part was totally my fault
But anyways im going to try to induce the same problem and see if i can pull the log to see what was going on. Shouldve done that in the first place but again Beer does impair my thinking haha!
apply at goo.im for a dev account. u get hosting, and goo manager access which kind of does what your trying to do with this. or just use it for hosting.

calendar storage apk

Hi, let me state right of the bat that I did a noob mistake. I rooted my [email protected] galaxy s3 and in my hurry to be rid of all the bloat ware I got click happy and deleted the calender storage process. I havent installed a custom rom so running the stock could someone get me a calendar storage apk if that is at all possible? As a newbie I'm hesitant on having to reload a stock rom all over again. Not to sure how to even do that.
Thanks

No, I deleted the system app calendar storage and now of course my calendar will not work. I didnt realize all calendars use this for data. Since I was installing a non stock calendar i deleted it thinking it was just part of the stock calendar.
If someone would be so kind to just give me that as a apk i'd be set and wouldnt have to flash a stock rom and start all over again.
Just not ready to flash a custom rom till i get service activated on the phone with a new carrier.

Yes I wont argue that. I screwed up by not doing a backup first. Easy mistake deleting the calendar storage and not a big impact. But would be nice to fix if anyone could be so kind to help

Hi Miztaken1312, thanks for the offer to help.
I'm after the calendar storage stock process its a system file not a d/led apk. I think if you used titanium you could just back up this process and I could restore it the same way cant remeber the full name of it but just look for calendar storage
thanks for your help

Found it in TiBu. The backup for that actually consists of two files, one of which I named for you earlier. It is the "SecCalendarProvider.apk" and the accompanying .odex file. If you're still on stock, you can drop both into /system/app and make sure it has "rw-r-r--" permissions for both.

I have made a similar misttake. Does anyone know the name of the touchwiz calendar widget. After rooting my phone with the stock rom and touchwiz as the default launcher my calendar widget disappeared from my app drawer. I do not even know what it is called. Can someone upload the correct file? Thanks.

I have made the same mistake on an ASUS Tablet (Memo HD 7). Will the APK provided in this thread work?

Just find your stock rom, go into the zip and find the apk you need. Copy it to your system/app and reinstall.

I also had the same problem and tried installing the file you provided. It is clearly there but I cannot install it using ES File Explorer. I gave it the permissions you mentioned but to no avail. I am out of my wits already. I even tried flashing a stock rom just so I can get this thing back but I cannot even do that either. I am about to cry...I am so frustrated with my phone! PLEASE HELP!

[DEV][ROM] HTC Sense 5 for US SGS3 [4.1.2][ALPHA][WIP]

If you came here by way of an online article, DO NOT FLASH UNLESS YOU HAVE A US CARRIER SPECIFIC SGS3. This WILL brick your device if you have the i9300 or i9305.
Ok, so I'm gonna cut to the chase here. Sense 5 for the US S3.

Note: This is NOT a theme, it is the actual HTC One ROM.
Note 2 (haha, note 2): If you were linked here and have one of the carrier versions of the S3, then you CAN flash this without any risks or issues (without any additional risks or issues as if a Sprint user were flashing), as the partitions and specs are the same between the three carriers.
Pictures:
I have decided to release this as a community WIP so that all of our great developers can get their hands dirty with this. I would like to collaborate with everyone to get this ROM as close to 100% functional as possible.
I do not require that you be "recognized" as ANYTHING on xda for you to help with the development of this ROM. I only ask that you know that you are doing (or take the time to look things up) because I expect this ROM to be moving quickly and explanations have no place here. Use google if you have questions.
Thank you.

Please note that this is super SUPER pre-alpha right now. It boots up, but the entire system dies after about 2 minutes and causes a hot reboot (reboots and starts at boot animation)
Also note that it gets "stuck" at the last image of the boot animation. This is normal. In the background, the apps are being odexed by the system.

A logcat? No, not for this version. My computer literally died after I uploaded 0.2 so I'm letting it cool till tomorrow...
I guess you could stick in aLogcat after flashing, run that
Anyway, PM me your gmail so we can talk. I think this issue may be similar to the issue you were having with MIUI because everything starts dying after a bit, and the system doesn't even have time to load all the apps up correctly
Are you guys sure HTC will allow this?

My thoughts on this are, this is the internet, the home of every day users stealing software in the upwards of $5000, so, if thats going to be allowed and not really stopped, why take the time to stop us?
edit: in case anyone is wondering, im going to be trying to use what progress he makes and just port it over to the GSM varients of the d2 (att/tmo) i747 and T999

this is a somewhat minor (101 mb, not really that minor) update lg and sprint just pushed.
you want this because it fixes some things lg/sprint may have come across that were either broken or just messed up in the previous release.
the difference between this and the odex rom im am going to upload is this is a flashable update, as opposed to a full stock rom with the updates included.
some people like to be on just a stock odexed rom and it is also for devs to have a base with the lastest updates to build on.
i am going to deodex the rom as well for the devs here.

I updated ZV8 with no problem. Flashed in TWRP after erasing dalvik and cache, fix permissions. After reboot ,lost root. Using SuperSu. Went ahead and ioroot again, gained root and then removed superuser.
hmm, strange.
you shouldnt have lost root.
theres nothing that would have removed it.
the update doesnt wipe any partitions.
it removes a couple system apps that come preinstalled but it doesnt remove anything else, and the ones it removes get reinstalled.
either way, i am about to boot back into ubuntu and zipalign this and then upload a stock odex rom if everything is good.

My SuperSU was still in the tray, just when I clicked on it, I got a "binary removed and SuperSU can't install it. This is no good" LOL I did get that message. No worries, easily fixed. Going to play with CM 10.2 now, and then Nandroid back to stock root after that. I need wifi tether working and currently can't be stock rooted and get wifi tether working. I think I will lose GPS though on CM 10.2. Was going to try and see what I get. I know its just a matter of time and someone smarter than me will figure it out.
