gedeROM back to stock + app store. - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so i rooted my uncles 6.2.1 KF last weekend and put gedeROM on it for him since he said he wanted ICS. Now he is saying he doesn't like ICS and would rather go back to the stock look but would like to retain the Play Store.
I see that Modaco has the stock rom with play store access, but my question is..can he just flash Modaco using TWRP (since its base is 6.3 and he is on 6.2.1), or is there something else we should do to get him back on stock with the play store?.
I will be walking him through this over the phone so any minute details would be appreciated., thanks.

Before flashing, make a backup, in case he wants to go back to ICS or any problems occur. After backing up, wipe cache/dalvik cache and system. Tap the factory reset also. After all that flash the ROM and you're set. If the Play store icon isn't showing in the device section of the app library, download Go Launcher or look for kindle fire market opener on Google. If any problems occur, tell us! We are here to help!

[Q] Market opens and closed right away on Apex 1.0.2 rom.

I flashed the newest version of Apex (1.0.2) from the stock rom after I backed up and cleared everything and after the finished installing the Gapps my Market no longer works or Talk and the others. It seems that when I go to Titanium backup their text is read so I tried to clear the catch, restore it and all that. So I purchased TB hoping that it would fix itself but no luck whatsoever.
I really need help here guys!
Thanks,

Go to the apex forum and see if it's a common thing for that version. If not then reflash the rom

Probably a bad download/flash. Do a factory data reset and install a freshly downloaded ROM file. If it works OK then redownload apps from the market.

Thank you.
I will try that. will that remove root or anything?
I can load my info back up with my titanium.... right?
After a few tries, it worked!! thank you.
FYI -
The problem was something in my titanium back up info. I was successful after I deselected anything having to do with the phone app (there are 4-5 apps associated with it) and now works like a charm! YAY
I was inspired to pay for the PRO Titanium after the 2nd backup restore! LOL
I'm having a similar issue except it's with the Google Play Store, I was able download Titanium but after that I haven't been able to get back into the store, only getting FC. I also tried going to the Play Store site and downloading it but it says it's not compatible with my device. Is my only option to reflash Clean GB?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Google Play W/O Root

I'm was wandering if anyone knows of a way to get Google Play on my Kindle Fire without root?
I don't want to root because I sent in for the warrenty once, so it would be a big help. I'm not new to the tech game so don't to me like I don't know what I'm doing plz.

Shouldn't you be experienced enough to use the search, then?

You cannot run Google Play without root permissions because it will only run as a system app with the proper permissions which you need root to modify. As far as warranty goes, you can restore a rooted kindle fire to stock and remove any proof of the fact that it has ever been rooted by following one of the guides to return to stock.
I used to have my KF completely bricked after running ICS and different ROMs on it and so forth and recently sent it back to Amazon for ghosting. After having restored it to stock and doing a factory reset, it couldn't be differentiated from one that was brand new out of the box.
Thanks but I still think there's got to be a way to mod Google play because I have 1 mobile and it works flawlessly, so I guess ill try to mod it

No, there is not a way to do it without root permission. You have to have root access to move to system/apk and change permissions.

I appreciate your drive and willingness to try but the reason it won't work is because even if you were to find a way to get the app to run without being run from system/app you will still not be able to use it to install apps. The way it was designed to integrate with android is to contact google's servers and directly install the app to your device using its own permissions derived from it being a system app. If it doesn't have those permissions it won't know what to do and will crash. It cannot just download the app to a folder like 1mobile does. I understand that you want to use google play without rooting, I tried to do it too before I eventually gave in and rooted, but trust me you will be much happier with the device when you have root permissions. If you decide to stay with the stock amazon version of android I would recommend trying modaco's rooted stock ROM which comes with google play already installed, it will not only save you the trouble of having to attempt to install the app yourself (which is actually more of a hassle than you would think) but it also has better stability than stock does and you don't have to worry about amazon upgrading you overnight without your permission and you losing root.

Just a guess, you flashed the a2z right after you flash rom and gapps. You might want to try booting up, signing into your gmail account, then flashing in your a2z zip. I haven't used that in a while, but I think I had this same issue.
If that doesn't work try clear data/cache for Google Play Services.

This is exactly what had happened to me. You fix this by going to data/data then find the folder called scd.app2zip. Delete that folder. Then reboot. Reinstall the app and it should work

Since there is no external sd card for my Nexus 7, how did you get this to work on the Nexus?

Uninstalled Nova...phone wont boot

So I uninstalled Nova Launcher in Titanium backup thinking it would revert back to Touchwiz...well that wasnt the case (As soon as I uninstalled it, it started acting crazy so I rebooted the phone and it gets stuck on the SMASUNG part and just hangs there)...so Ive tried reinstalling Nova via a zip from cwm recovery, but this is what it says :Finding update package...Opening update package...Installing update...Installation aborted.
Is there a zip of Touchwiz available anywhere? Any advice? Im REALLY trying to avoid re flashing the ROM because I have some notes and stuff on there that i really need that I hadnt backed up yet unfortunately...
The minute after submitting this thread, I tried a third and final Nova zip i found online and it installed perfectly! Problem solved......
Next time try looking in the PLAY store for an ACTUAL paid app from the store. Then you'll probably won't run into any problems like you were having!!! Or just factory reset and it should put you back too, how it should be!!

If it was your active launcher and you delete it. That had problems written all over it. Did you change to a temporary launcher first? Or was Nova your current?
