you can use google's market even if you are rooted, and a good companion to that is app brain

List of most used apps

Im trying to build a list of the most used apps
not games
I'm currently working on a personal project and I need a list of apps that I need to modify to streamline into my rom
I'm asking you XDA what apps would you like to see in a rom
Note: all apps must be free I'm not dealing with lawsuits

I'm Manning this for a list that I will keep updated

Set DNS .... there is a $4.99 app called Masked Crusader but I don't see it doing any caching our phones don't already do and i don't see it doing any adblocking that you would use AdFree for.
Well I'm trying to include some useful apps to my rom and trunk to streamline the kernal for those apps also working on a custom app to control CPU clock depending on the apps open in the fourground example if your only texting your CPU clock shouldn't have to be high
But if your playing games or something that needs more CPU it will make CPU change clock speed up so it runs smooth and each value will be able to be manually set to users specifications
Not sure if it makes sense or not
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Well you should take in account some emulators, such as fpse, N64OID, and SNESOID.
I need stuff that most people use so I can work the apps needed into my rom

I've been back and forth on task killers. The one I'm using now has a quick 1-click widget. I excluded all of the apps that should stay running for stability and other reasons and only have it setup to kill games and other apps that I don't want notifications from and don't need to keep running. It's quick and easy for me to just kill all the junk apps all at once. I have noticed a performance difference with it too.
I also use Autostarts to keep crap from starting up when I don't need it.

Non US Users: change app store location

Just a suggestion for non US W8 users: changing the location in windows control panel is the simplest way to change the store from outside the US, having more apps available. You can't buy apps, but you can download the free apps. You don't need to change language, numbers, ecc, just location.
Will try this! Thanks!
Works really well I now have photobucket, anymore app suggestions.
If you like your social media apps then Norto Satélite is worth it, only available from US store
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium HD app
Why are you saying I can only use free apps? I bought Pin Steam and everything went ok.
Well I tried it and it would not let me buy a paid app in US store since my email and account is UK based

Stupid question, but did you upgrade to the new Playstore using that file that was posted online? I have not seen any ads on the Google Playstore.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus GSM
I doubt it. If it happened, it might be a tampered app or another app could be pushing ads to your phone.
What was the ad for? Did you just happen to unknowingly tap the screenshot the app provides? lol. Google doesnt put ads in the play store. If it was in fact an ad, another app is causing it. Seeing as though you are playing games like Catapult King, I would think thats very likely. A lot of those games are very ad driven and will even put ads in your notification drawer. Try out the app called airpush detector. It will tell you what apps are creating ads. Although I think its mainly for notification ads. I've never come across a full screen ad except for Angry Birds of course. But that was within the app itself.
Highly doubt it... Google doesn't have ads in ANY of its Android apps.... I bet you clicked the main pic and it went full screen and you thought it was an ad

If you did d/l it from the Web, Why don't you clear data, uninstall the play store and use the version pushed from Google? I'm guessing you won't see an ad again.

OP, are you sure you're using GOOGLE's PLAYSTORE, and not some other ? PLAYDOWNLOAD?
Just in case you don't know, Piracy is condemned here, remember that
