When I open the weather app the video is extremely jerky. Anyone else find this.
You'd think that on a flagship device, HTC would make sure at lest there stock apps would run, smoothly.
No such problem with my sensation.

Same here. It's shameful that a device like the hox with Tegra 3 should lag like this.

Is anyone else having a problem with Sense continually crashing? Almost every other time I go into an app and use it for any length of time, when I exit the app Sense has crashed and I have to watch the stupid loading animation while it restarts. It's happening really regularly.
Cheers.

Incredible how much ram Sense is taking up.
I figured it would take less considering it's more stream lined to look at compared to say Sense 3.
At times it feels like we've got two operating systems competing with each other for resources but slapped together.
It's definitely not ram related. It just did it again with 313 mb free.

I initially noticed this too. Then I went and disabled auto updates to HTC sense and voila, no more seemingly crashes in Sense.

Hi globalgpj, can you tell me how you disabled auto updates? I got my new device yesterday and I find that my touch screen and buttons become unresponsive fairly often. The only solution is to press the power button briefly to switch off the screen and on again and the response is ok.
Thanks.
I had this problem too 1st time i started my phone.
What helped for me was a complete system restore and skip the setup-wizard and do all that manually one in SENSE.
Here it shows how it was on my phone (look at 0:30)

If this bothers you return the phone. Htc has had this issue since the Sensation. It will rear its head at some point. It's because Sense uses too much ram and isn't locked in memory so Android will dump it from ram to make room for other apps and then it has to reload which takes longer than most launchers. This reason alone is why I'm staying away from Sense. Try using an 3rd party launcher and it'll work better.

You don't understand. This issue has been confirmed by many people on Sensation running Gingerbread and ICS including me. Adding a line to the build file forcing Sense to be locked in memory. The moment you remove that line (how it is by default) it starts happening.
It's fine, just don't expect this issue to be fixed because to htc its not an issue. It's just the way it is.

I can't remember exactly. But it did solve my problem of sense constantly loading which causes lag or delay in sense loading.
However, check the following:
Go into settings, and at the very bottom is Developer options. Click this option. Then see if this item is ticked :"Show screen updates"... if it is ticked, untick it.
The only thing I have ticked in this option is "Animation", everything else is unticked.
The other thing I also do, is I try not to have my widgets updated constantly. I have my emails checked only every 3 hours, my news reader, greader pro, every 12 hours.
Let me know if this has helped you.

I believe you can only use this script with a rooted device. Is that correct ?
Many people with HTC One X may be locked into a carrier for some period of time and therefore on a Stock ROM !
adding echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 to the local.prop solved the problem on my Desire Z, luckily temproot was enough to edit the file.
I don't suppose there is a way to temproot the One X yet?! I'm not interested in perm rooting my One just yet... I'm too fond of my 2yrs. warranty

This is a confirmed bug (countless people reported it).
I find this very strange.. i have in the last week had one force close on sense, other than that it has been fine
I haven't seen a single force close on anything yet. Had a few random close-without errors on Route 66 and one or two on Sygic, but this is infinitely more stable than my ICS Asus Transformers...

PS. I also went into SETTINGS, clicked on "Accounts and Sync" and check under my gmail account to see how many things were auto syncing. I removed most of them and chose to do them when I needed to. This helped conserve battery and possibly a smoother SENSE operation.
Uh oh. My replacement HOX (first one replaced due to WIFI fault) has started to flash when opening or refreshing apps.
So far I have only noticed it when doing the first refresh on the official Twitter app and on opening the xda app!
Is this a software/programming issue or is it another hardware fault?
What are other people's experiences?

That sounds like the screen corruption issue. Was 99% fixed in 1.28 and completely gone in 1.29. What software are you on?
Running 1.29.206.11 and the updater doesn't say there are any updayes available. Since I first posted I have ve only noticed once. So maybe it is a random glitch that I lucky to have noticed

you screen is back to flash? I since I have it never happened
I've noticed this as well, in 1.29.401.11. Seems to just be displaying some uninitialized data for a frame until the texture/etc. is fully uploaded... has yet to cause any problems, but it seems to just be annoying?

Simply put Google will ignore any bug reports of chrome on "unofficial" android releases such as ICS on desire Z, and cuz its not for gb, they wouldn't support the G2/DZ are all, so support inquiries are basically ignored.

Moving to Q&A
Sup guys i just wanted to know if there was a rom out there that happens to use the camera app for the htc one x? i love my GS3 but i actually love the way the camera was on the One X the features were just better but the lack of memory made me switch over. So is there any Roms out there that have the camera app from the One X? if so let me know it will save me the time from trying every rom out.
Ask in the One X section for the pulled camera apk. Really the only option.

but will the apk need to be modded for the gs3?
More than likely. It's going to need HTC sense framework.

damn thats what i figured i hope someone can come up with an apk to mod so we can use that camera its just better prolly the main reason i miss that phone haha.
I don't know if it can be done. We can't use the Sense camera on aosp roms but I'm not sure if it would be the same for Samsung software.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I can't see this happening in the foreseeable future, as stated we would need the entire sense framework for it to work.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I've already tried using the Sense 4.0 Camera app on my TW rom. Black screen until crash. You'll have to ask the nice people at sense4all to port a sense rom to our i747. They've already got it booting and partially working on the i9300.
This will never work as one x also has a hardware chip that works with that camera I forgot what it is called but won't work without it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Why not try another camera app?
This one will make the phone's camera more like a DSLR. It can be a battery drain if you can't find your settings right away. Camera FV 5. (shoots RAW if you are a photoshop junkie) w

This is because HTC Sense takes up quite a chunk of memory, so when you are doing other things and memory is low, HTC Sense gets unloaded to free up memory.
When you exit out the application you see this by having to wait for HTC Sense to reload.
I wish HTC would give the option not to use HTC Sense, does it make sense to fill up the phones memory with something that Android has essentially built in already?
Regards
Phil
