Go to Development subforum, in the stickies there is a flashing to alternate carrier roll up.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium

Yeah man thats the same guide i tried to use. I had to use many other guides to get the programs needed, The phone i finally got to recognize the modem, and all the software but when using QPST It wouldn't recognize the actual phone, i'm not sure if it's due to the fact the phone isn't connect to any service.
Still displays "Activation not completed" on the actual device

It's most likely the cable..... As stated above, make sure drivers are installed... try every usb port and try different cables.
I had the same problem until I used my friends myTouch 4G data cord. Just go and buy you a data cord for this phone

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned yet for you, download the files again. Could have been a corrupted file you downloaded, it happens sometimes.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
ive used three different cables, and two of them high quality, and downloaded the files like 6 times lol
still wasn't working... then I thought well maybe it's my computer... copied the files to my external drive and put them on my old computer and boom, it worked... anyone have any idea what would cause that to happen?
Are you putting the .tar in pda or phone?
It sounds like you are putting it in phone. There is not enough memory in those partitions, hence staying stuck in the same places each time.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Solution
Take the battery out before flashing.
Nothing worked for me either until I went into download mode with the usb cable connected and took the battery out.

You should at least answer the question before you chastise. Then again, you probably didn't know the answer to the question.
OP, like someone said, change the cable first. The one that comes with the phone is crap.

Actually, you are right. I have never had to deal with odin. But, I hate going to development and seeing a thread with [Q] in the title. It doesn't belong here. If it got put in the correct location, more people would see it. It all works out for a better community.

[Q] Does anyone have a flash to boost walkthrough

Hello all,
I am new to posting questions here (normally just read through until I find my answer) and I am sure I am breaking every rule there is about posting questions and I am sorry. I have spent and way to much time trying to find a walkthrough to flash my samsung galaxy s3 to boost(with absolutely zero success) Is there anyone that has a walkthrough that includes directions for an intermidiate flasher. Thanks in advanced and Sorry for bothering everyone
I don't know if you'll find a guide, but changing a phone to a different provider now is illegal. Technically would be against forum rules.
Just use the search option and see if any guides pop up
Yeah I have searched and I can't find anything

Yeah it does, you always need a donor so that you can pull the necessary info off of it and onto the phone you're flashing

lost 4g

hey guys i lost 4g after switching a rom. i switched back to the old rom stil didnt work any body have a pic or am i screwed
What does your imei say?
And there is a q&a forum for these types of threads
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
If it shows H+ then that is 4g. Just different icon.
Sounds like you lost your imei.
Hopefully you did your research before modifying your $600 phone and you made a backup of your imei since this is a common problem and a way to prevent it/back it up has been developed. Otherwise., good luck. You can try to insert your imei again ( not a simple process) but it well never act the same again if its been lost.
Best bet is new phone
Check in you're settings menu and see what it says your imei is in about phone. If it says 0 instead of the imei then you lost imei

Follow ALL THREE steps to get your 4G back. It's easier if you go back to a TouchWiz ROM for the *codes.

[Help]Wanting to flash to different carrier

So I'm on bs sprint and still have a little over a year for my contract to be up so if all's well I will be flashing me and my gfs phones to another carrier and buying out of our cantract since we're basically paying 200 dollars for the same service. I'm wondering if anybody is willing to help me out with the flashing process (this will be my 1st time) by directing me to the best carrier to flash to how toos and so fourth. I'm currently rooted and my gf isn't but I can have that done in minutes when it's time. I'm hoping to go to virgin boost or cricket if anyone knows anything about flashing to any of these carriers. Can online help? Please and thanks

Actually edfunkycold has been extremely helpful. No I'm not trying to be confrontational. My apologizes in advance if that's the way it sounds. The threads that edfunkycold pointed you to have the information necessary to complete what you want to do. There is going to be quite a bit of reading, and research involved. Especially as this is your first time. The best advice I can give you is read, read, and read some more. If you have any questions search the thread that pertains to what you are trying to accomplish. If you still cannot find the answer post up in that thread. Someone is usually around to help, in almost every thread. BTW, yes I do know how hard it is to search for answers to questions sometimes . Even though I've been around for a while, I still use the search function quite a bit. Sometimes more than I'd like to admit.

I honestly agree with u 100% edfunkycold cnexus and whiplash are always 1st on the scene when I need help. I just always see people saying to search. I always search b4 I post a thread and I only post a thread to get as much help as possible. There is no real filters on here and u could be stuck on the same thread for days b4 finding what u need. I also feel like posting new threads helps other noobs find things easier than finding something that was posted a year ago. I honestly meant no disrespect to anybody on these forums especially the people that's always helping and if any was taken i apologize

No offense taken at all. But read what you wrote. You feel that by starting a new thread it helps new noobs find it. You don't think that adds to the already hundreds of threads which exist, many of them repeated questions on the same topic? Now that is going g to make it even more difficult for a new person to find the thread with the correct information.
Keep in mind the longer threads with more activity are usually the ones with all the right answers. Some reading and searching will be necessary. Within the thread itself you can search that specific thread to get the information you need and the results come back in order from newest post to oldest post.
I search every day, I search mostly for people that are looking for answers. Keep in mind I do it all from my phone mobile so I only use the app.
Food for thought.

Yes I understand that but thanks to people like u and the others I mentioned links are posted to those threads right on the pages we often look for. Even tho there are repeat questions not everyone has the same desire there fore when the links a provided we get helped as much as we can by this. This isn't a dispute or argument in anyway but a "noobs stand point of thinking" if that's what u wanna call it. Maybe this explains it or maybe it doesn't but it shows we have a high regard for this Site instead of going to another forum or Google searching our issues (which most leads back to here). This is a good Site and everyone is loved here especially by us noobs. I'm not sure if u seen it but a while ago I wrote a thank you post cause what u guys do here is awesome and if it wasn't for u guys my phone would be plain old vanilla my mind bored and a bunch of noobs lost hopelessly. Maybe if we can get some filters on here maybe for dates or key words or different updates there wouldn't be soo many repeat threads. U said yourself u search using your phone (as do I 99% of the time) how long does it take u to usually find a thread you've never seen on a topic u barely have any info about?

If your on the XDA app you can click on more in the upper right hand corner then the search button to search in general View attachment 2180302
If you want to search a specific thread on the xda app you need to be in the thread then click settings then click Web view to take you to a browser then use the search function View attachment 2180309
I would recommend the Tapatalk app which is much much better and you can search in general or within a specific thread right from the app. You can search by key words and also by specific username as well. View attachment 2180312View attachment 2180313

If you go Boost or Virgin you will need a donor phone,If you go Cricket you will not as they allow flashed phones on their system.Crickets service is OK but with a flashed phone you will always be 3G no 4G. The S3 is a fairly easy phone to flash you can do it with QPST. Or since you are in louisville the corporate stores can flash it for you pretty cheap.

Use this guide only instead of using DFS use QPST http://www.cricketusers.com/cdma-sa...galaxy-s3-cricket-talk-text-mms-internet.html you could use DFS as well I just prefer QPST and a note if you use QPST write two profiles enable both of them and just make one active seems to work better that way.
