[Help/Q] Arc dead after regular shutdown - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

UPDATE: Please see post #11 for update.
So today I was attending my exams, where I was forced to shut my phone off, which usually isn't a problem. However when I tried to turn it on after the exam, it vibrated for a long time (3s), then nothing happened, I tried again, regular start-up vibrate for 1s, but nothing happens afterwards.
At first I thought it was the battery, so when I came home I tried to turn on my phone using charger only. After a couple of tries it started to turn on screen and show SONY logo, after loading the kernel (blue LED turns on), it turns off again. I've tried to enter the recovery, but it still turns off after 1s in the recovery.
I thought it might be related to the FOTA issue somehow, so I flashed the .ta update from the FOTA thread, however that had no effect on this issue.
It's worth mentioning that I was using the same ROM for quite some time and the only change i made since last reboot was to install premium version of baconreader, install facebook app (from the baconreader company), uninstall that app again and that's it.
Phone Info
Model: Xperia Arc
Kernel: Stock ICS with CWM
ROM: Arconium ICS 3.C.

Try to wipe data with flashtool
IF LOCKED bootloader, repair with pc companion

So after a couple of days without using the phone (I'm at a LAN party, so I don't really need it right now), I found it being turned on in my backpack since yesterday. Pretty odd, don't know what the reason was though. Haven't tried turning it off and on again yet, need it tomorrow

Update:
So after ½ days of use, the phone froze in some menu, and is unable to boot again.
How do I wipe data with Flashtool? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I can only connect in Flash/Fastboot modes.

Put it in flash mode then select some ftf file and check on clear cache and clear data.. uncheck all others.. then flash it.. Tada.. wiped system nd cache..

I had, the same problem this morning when i tried to turn my arc on after a regular shutdown, so i pulled off the battery 3 times and after 10 15 min it just restarted of its own...
wtf is wrong with the arc?

I've tried pulling the battery many times but that did not help in my case..

Okay so for other people who might face the same issue and stumble upon this thread through google or so, this is how i fixed it;
Flashed stock firmware,
Flashed stock kernel with CWM,
Used charger to boot the phone into CWM (the phone would turn on if I put it on charger),
Wiped everything I could (battery stats, dalvik, cache, data, system)
Formatted everything I could (/sdcard, /system, /data)
Mounted USB in CWM, transferred Arconium 3.C ROM to it
Flashed Arconium ROM, let it boot.
Phone works fine now
I believe it was a software error, however I don't know why it wouldn't even show SONY logo before, even if I reflashed the kernel (kernel loads before ROM, so should be unaffected iirc).

I have similar problem, but after flash ROM - Arconium 3.c and reboot, just show me logo SONY and that is all, nothing more, my LT18i no boot up.
Andorid 4.0.4, baseband 70, 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected]#1, 4.1.B.0.431, I use stock Kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680793
).
Where is the problem, please help me to solve this. I ask in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700163), but no one help me and I need to solve this today, and it could be similar problem, maybe. Thanks a lot.

I think Arconium 3 not running on kernel 4.0.4 of stock, try to put an alternate kernel

Update
So today I turned my phone off, only to see the same problem appear again.
I've tried everything. FOTA fix, reflashing kernel, system, firmware, clearing data, etc etc, nothing has helped so far.
I can get into fastboot and flashmode without problems, but if I try turning on the phone, it vibrates shortly and the LED light blinks.

have you gone back to pure unrooted stock?
this would proove it is not the kernel or bootlaoder...

Thank you for your reply.
Yes I've tried unrooted stock firmware and kernel. I've also tried relock bootloader and SUS / PC Companion, but they always say that the latests firmware is already installed or that they don't have any firmware for me (when trying repair phone function).
I've unlocked the bootloader again though (just using code from Sony again).

So I let it in the charger over the night (~8hrs) and when I woke up it showed the battery icon, however when I took it out of the charger and flashed the kernel I wanted to use (Anzu KTG), it wouldn't turn on again. I should've just booted it from charging mode
The whole issue seems weird though.

I think I killed my Arc. Is there anything I can do?

What is is:
Docomo Xperia Arc LT15i, flashed ICS LT18i firmware a while ago, which has worked fine.
I currently use a GNex as my primary phone, and decided to convert my Xperia Arc into a portable music player, just running ubermusic with a microSD card.
What happened:
Yesterday when I connected it to wifi there was a system update notification. I thought, sure, let's see what it does. Perhaps that was stupid, not sure. It downloaded the update, rebooted and started to update. Got about a quarter of the way and then went blank. That was the last I saw anything on the screen.
What is does now:
I tried to power it on but nothing happened. It won't even boot. When I hold the power button down, the led light blinks green (about one blink per second, very brief blinks). I plugged it into USB, and flashtools recognized it in flash mode (without holding down the back button when plugging it in...). I then tried to flash the newest generic global (4.1.B.0.431), which flashtools showed as completed and successfully flashed. But it also said "please wait a moment, the phone will reboot", which it never did. Flashtools showed it as still connected in flash mode. I unplugged it and tried again, same as before. Won't even boot. I tried a couple more times flashing the same and previous firmwares (4.0.2.A.0.42), but still nothing.
It seems totally bricked, and I think I killed it. All I can get is flashmode.
Any suggestions or ideas? Or am I just stupid for trying to see what the update would do? I figured there's always some way to fix the system, since the hardware is fine.
I invited myself to the same problem but in a different way, result is same bro
please help us folks
Did you unlock the bootloader?
Is ur Bootloader Locked or Unlocked ??
I think you could be suffering from the 0% battery Issue (just a guess).
Try reflashing LT15 firmware with Flashtools & when it says flashing finished device rebooting ,then unplug the device & turn it on.

Bootloader is unlocked. So yes, trying to accept the OTA system update with an unlocked bootloader was stupid.
I've tried flashing several times, and of course I try turning it on at that point, but nothing. I'll look into the 0% battery issue, haven't read about that.
Here is the thread, sorry I didn't find it in my previous searches. This solution worked for me. We can close this thread.
You can attempt using s1tool and test point to relock the BL then use sues to fix.

[Q] Stock Xperia LT15A Boot Loop at Lock Screen

Hello, I am an annoying forum noob. I did some searching on my issue and haven't come up with a solution. My device is an Xperia Arc LT15A. It is completely stock and runs 2.3.4 Gingerbread. When powered on the device boots as far as the lock screen then reboots. This is continuous so the device cannot be connected to a computer (I tried several different cables, computers, USB ports etc). I have removed the SD card and SIM in an attempt to simplify the boot process. I tried several button combinations during boot (an attempt at a factory reset) and they produced no result. With the combination of back + menu + power I can see that the phone is in safe mode at the lock screen but the problem persists and the phone reboots back into its loop after about 1s.
Any attempt to help will be greatly appreciated.

[Q] I think i bricked my Arc, flashtool always gets stuck!

So my phone was running perfectly until i decided to sell it, unfortunately the sales man wouldn't accept my Xperia arc because i had AOKP, i opened recovery mode, choose restore, and i selected an old back up to restore, i thought it would bring my phone to stock.
But then whenever i turned my phone on it would crash with the AOKP start animation half blank, like the bottom half of the screen is completely black.
I googled "my xperia phone is bricked" and i heard that i can flash stock ftf to restore the phone, unfortunately flashtool gets stuck at around 8-13% percent every time.
I tried MANY different versions, many stock roms, turned off my anti virus, changed the cable, booted into safe mode with networking, it still lags. :crying::crying::crying:
Now whenever i boot it up it shows a phone with a warning sign next to it
I looked these forums up and someone suggested that i relock my bootloader and try the Sony update tool, i tried it but it says phone is already up to date
Now my phone is dead, battery ran out and it doesn't show the battery animation when i charge it, does that mean it's not charging?
Please help me, i just want to flash a stock rom and unroot it so i can sell it.

PC companion keeps saying i should turn on my phone, i can't turn it on.
I flashed KTG kernel and now the warning sign doesn't appear, only the Sony logo, whenever i try to turn the phone on it just shows the Sony logo and freezes, i tried to get into recovery but i can't, the led doesn't flash so i can enter recovery.
Thanks though.

Choose the option that you can not start up your device/repair your phone. It does not require you to turn on your phone.

YES, it's working again, thank you very much!!!
I "repaired" with PC companion and it wouldn't start, it still lags at the Sony logo, but after repairing it with the pc companion i was able to flash stock ftf without any problem, it's very weird flashtool always lagged before, i think it's because i repaired it now, or maybe because i charged my phone over the entire night? can a low battery cause flashtool to lag?
Anyway that doesn't matter now, thanks again.
My phone is working again after flashing generic world stock ROM, now only thing remains, how do i unroot and relock the bootloader? or is it unrooted already since i flashed a stock ROM? :\
I just want to sell the phone but unfortunately rooted phones don't sell here, every salesman i met rejected me, i want to unroot the phone and relock the bootloader, i just want to make it look like a brand new phone, it's in an excellent condition hardware wise.
I heard factory reset would brick my phone so I will wait until the phone is done booting up and i will download root check and see, i will also check if the bootloader is locked or not from the service menu, after that i will update this post. :good:
EDIT 1: Okay this is very awkward, my phone's battery is completely empty, i have no idea why it's at 0% even though i charged it over the entire night???
Anyway once it's done charging i will check the root and bootloader condition.
Sorry for my bad English.
If you flashed stock firmware, then root is already gone.
And if PC Companion installed firmware to your phone, then bootloader is locked, otherwise PC Companion would have not worked.
If you are still sure, that bootloader is unlocked, check the tutorial in my signature, it includes information how to relock bootloader.

Xperia arc S Ultimate HD 3.0.1 HARD BRICK WON'T BOOT WON'T CONNECT

Hello everyone. I know that before I should create a thread I should search the site more to see if there are similar threads. I have but unfortunately I've only found a few with no solutions.
This is about my phone which I flashed Ultimate HD 3.0.2 last June(mid). Everything was going well. I didn't have to restart my phone as much as when I had cyanogenmod. Last Sunday while trying to take a photo my phone died because of low battery. When I got home I charged it but would only get stuck at the Sony logo. To sum it up.
- When turned on/charged, the arc s would only get stuck at the Sony logo(no red LED light). The screen would get brighter, then dimmer, then blank, then go back to the Sony logo. I 'd gladly boot to CWM but nothing happens no matter what button I press. (Maybe I'm doing it wrong? No one clearly knows how to boot into bloody CWM. Almost everyone seems to say, errrr keep pressing back/menu/volume down/power after the Sony logo appears. If someone could clear it up on how to really boot into CWM, that would be great thanks)
- Tried Flashtool, PC companion, SEUS, but the phone also seems to have connectivity problems with the pc. It would slightly detect it then disconnect again. I try to flash a different kernel using Flashtool, the phone's LED turns blue(clearly indicating that it's in fastboot mode), but when I select a kernel, flashtool claims that I have to be in fastboot mode even when my phone's LED is blue.
I can't use any of the 3 tools(SEUS, PC, Flashtool) because it can't even be detected by the pc.(BTW I've fully charged the battery using an independent charger)
I fear this is a hardware problem but I hope it can be fixed. I'd really appreciate help. I've missed college to fix my phone just like I have before but this one won't budge. Thanks.

From my experience, if you install CWM on a rooted phone but with a locked bootloader it uninstalls as soon as you flash a new ROM and you have to reinstall CWM over again every time you do so.

Not exactly uninstall, the CWM for locked bootloader is installed on /system partition. This partition is wiped every time a new ROM is flashed, therefore removing CWM from your phone.

Some (if not most) ROMs, which are available for locked bootloaders, also include recovery already on the /system partition. At least I have seen custom recovery files listed in AROMA installation files for locked bootloader options.
I have not tested it myself (the freedom of unlocked bootloader ), so I am not sure though
