[Q] Cisco VPN client IPsec Xauth - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Didn't find any good solution on forum, so I am asking you guys if anybody have had successfully connected to corporate network using some kind of substitute of Cisco VPN client? I tried few solutions with tun.ko and vpnc widget but right after I typed my credentials my phone just rebooted, like every time
I hoped that after I flash to JJ's hibrid ROM maybe something will change, but it didn't.
Before that I had stock ICS installed from SE PC companion and the same reboot thing was occurring.
I have had tested this on GB but it doesn't have advanced routing and through GMS (because my operator have the same IP class as my private net) I was not able to route my traffic towards private network. vpnc worked fine but only on WiFi.
Cisco Anny Connect is not an option because it supports only SSL VPN.

Have you tried DroidVPN?

I worked it in both ICS and GB, it worked perfectly!
Did you configure it?
Sent from my LT15i using XDA

yes, i configured it properly, all things were configured, maybe it's just because i use JJ's hybrid rom.. I don't know ;(

No JJ Rom shouldn't be a problem, but i think ICS may be the culprit as am using DroidVPN from GB

ohh shame.. why it is so hard to implement IPsec in unixbased os? ios have it, why android could not

I suggest to use some soft as follw:
Better Terminal Emulator Pro
VPN Connections
BusyBox 1.19.3
You can use BetterTerminalEmulatorPro to run vpnc script in command line mode.
It can output debug info.
# ./vpnc ./vpnc.config --script ./vpnc-script --debug 99

To which VPN software are you referring?
I have installed Terminal Emulator and I have BusyBox version mentioned by you.
Could you please be more specific in what should I do to run this up?

Well could you say how you implemented in iOS coz I have an iPad 3?

It is natively supported and if you have successfully connected from Mac OS X, then for sure it would work on iOS device.
If you are successfully using VPN in Mac OS X with a L2TP/IPSec configuration and you are using Password, RSA SecurID, or CRYPTOCard User Authentication methods, and Shared Secret key for Machine Authentication, then the same VPN configuration should work in iOS. In addition, if you are using a Shared Secret key or Certificate for Machine Authentication, it should work as well.

[Q] VPN client suggestion

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good VPN client/service to use with the Inc2 with MIUI?
I've tried Any Connect for Root Devices but I think tun.ko has to be load/baked into the ROM. The app installs successfully and I'm able to get to the login of the VPN server but then it gives me an error, something about secure gateway.

[Q] connect to Ad Hoc

I play in a xperia rom official version 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.42)
rooted and unlocked bootloader
someone help me to access a ad hoc play on my xperia!
cordially
extract the attached file then use root explorer to overwrite the file wpa_supplicant file to the folder /system/bin, remember to set permission to R/O
dont work
its not working with xperia play, I think it works with another termina
thx
up!
I faced the same issue few months back..
As far as i knw...adhoc support may come in ICS.....meanwhile try this on the PC/laptop/Server you want to connect.......assuming u r on Win7...
1. Open command prompt with administrator privileges(right click, run as administrator) and type
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=samsung key=password keyUsage=persistent
Click to collapse
2. then type
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Click to collapse
Now check your phone wifi settings u will have a AP with name samusng. Password is "password".
3. To stop replace start with stop in the above command.
This is pretty safe and wont effect any other network settings. If other people are also connected to the old ad-hoc network, tell them to connect to this new network...
If the above doesnt work, disable data on your play and enable wifi hotspot....connect to it via ur pc....and then u may share the internet connection of the pc to play.....or play multiplayer game....
Hope this helps!
Hi!
I borrow the thread instead of making a new one since I want Ad-hoc to work as well, and I'm "only" (better IMO) on Win XP.
And I wonder, is the "WiFi Ad Hoc enabler" app compatible and working with the Xperia Play?
And I got the official 2.3.4 ROM as well, version 4.0.2.A.0.42.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards RazerBlader.

[Q] OpenVPN on CM9?

Does anybody here use OpenVPN with CM9? What OpenVPN settings and/or kernel are you using with success? I've tried it with the stock CM9 kernel, but no good. It connects and everything indicates it should be working, but nothing gets through.
Hi,
I'm trying to configure it at the moment with my Nexus One using the new 7.2 CM, but I didn't fully succeed for the moment. I can connect, ping the lan machines, ping everything on the web through the vpn, but I couldn't surf or use any web services. Server is on a Win7 x64 pc, I suspect a server bad configuration (first try).
Android 2.3.7
kernel 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod-g0799e00
last openvpn server version
I tried with the openvpn software supplied with CM, but it seems better and faster with OpenVpn Installer + OpenVpn Settings android packages. Plus it provides ovpn client logs, DNS settings, auto reconnect, .conf/ovpn files and a simplified certificates system.
Hope this helps...
I used the openvpn installer and openvpn settings apps, but couldn't get it to work. I'm still investigating. It's strange because I've tried using different roms and kernels already.

4th requirement is not fulfilled by yourself ?
1. Buddy this is not hacking, this app is accessing wifi passwords using wpa pins.
2. No need to install terminal emulator.
3. This app can install busybox itself, no need to install busybox separately.
4. No need to turn on gps.
5. This app can only access passwords from those modems having wps pin enabled.
6. No any credits mentioned to the developers of this app.

it requires all these these things cause I'm using marshmallow so it requires gps too.. you're a noob perhaps so really know nothing about Marshmallow.. and if you really know then just ignore whatever is not required. and last it can hack too as you can kill other networks through wifi kill..

everything GDjindal said was perfectly correct you noob . you know nothing and still talk like this.
1 .you dont require gps on in marshmallow 6.0.1.
2. this app doesnt hacks anything, just tries 3 or more common pins in wps enabled routers which are very rare now.
atleast show some manners when taking to a senior member.
When it asks for gps just press no. It works without gps. I have already hacked some wifi.

Also download busy box and SuperSU for Superuser Grant
You are too professional?
Lol , Actually,
You just need "wpswpa tester" app only. Anything else not required tho.
P/S: You know what, wpawps tester can work without root for Android 6.0

Android TV SSH Server (permission denied)

I'm trying to SFTP into Nvidia Shield TV but keep getting denied.
I have rooted the device and installed SSH Server. I do get prompted to accept the RSA Key, but then denied access.
The SSH Server app that I'm using was added to the Super User app and granted root access.
What am I doing wrong. I'm so close.....
FYI, I can use FTP but denied when using SFTP.
1) Are you rooted? Did you give SSH/SFTP root privileges?
2) Did you remember to change the default Password to something other than whatever the default was?
3) Did you remember to run the SSH/SFTP Server before trying to run it? It's NOT automatic. You have to run it Server side first!
4) Assuming you using something like Putty or WinSCP you need to login using the local IP Address of the Shield TV ex. 192.178.xxx.xxx
If you can follow most of that it shouldn't be a bother getting it to run.

4. Yes I am trying to login with IP address

What about: Settings > Storage & reset > Over local network?

What SSH server are you using?
Having Sideload 'Rooted SSH/SFTP Daemon. Which is listed as non Android TV compatible. I was greeted instantly with a "wtf not rooted" message. Which may be kinda the case since I never really enabled such RW permissions for SU though TWRP. Since having done so in the past kinda made OTA Updates malfunction. It's kinda the same case with Adaway as well.
But, on the Shield TV the only real tangible use of root that I have is, in being able to install Plex Channels. Which with a symlinked Folder. Works well enough.
I got it to work!

So what was the issue?
Please use the QUOTE feature when replying to me to get my attention. Thanks!
My guess would be he enabled root via TWRP. Hopefully it won't comeback to bite him in the arse. While this does make things incredibly easier, it also completely forks up any hopes of successfully installing any OTA Updates. Which may not be as much of a problem, as it was when I first got into the Shield TV last January. With the transition from Marshmallow, to Nougat.
