Weather app/widget - HTC One X

Hello guys.
I am searching for a weather app/widget (preferably with clock too) like the default sense one, to use on an aosp rom.
It MUST have accurate current location detection and hourly forecast.
It doesn't matter if it is animated or not and it doesn't matter if it is a paid app or free one either.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Beautiful Widgets;
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5sZXZlbHVwLmJlYXV0aWZ1bHdpZGdldHMiXQ..
Probably the nicest you can get - can set update to every 15 minutes if you require.
A massive amount of downloadable skins and also there is their own 'Skin Market' which is a very little known site where you can make your very own clocks and download to your phone - just choose the 'skin mixer' option
http://market.beautiful-widgets.com/

Very nice mate except one thing...
I can't find hourly prediction for weather..
Sent from my HTC One X Quad-Core Beast running wilkyyyy's mod

My mistake - hourly prediction, i mistook for hourly updates (as in refresh)
Hmmmmmm - how about the Go Weather widget - i believe its free and i had it installed ages ago but have since uninstalled it - i think that had hourly prediction if i'm not mistaken - however the reason that i uninstalled was due to poor updates.
Mind you this was about a month ago so could be sorted by now - worth a try at least if its free - from what i can remember, there is a bar at the bottom of the screen once app is launched and this can be raised to reveal extra information - also slid left and right to reveal more info....... hope this helps

I will test and let u know.
Many thanks

What Happens if I turn Sense Off?

After looking at some stock images I've noticed that you get more icons on the bottom, whereas on Sense you get the menu, phone and add.
So basically what would I lose by turning HTC Sense off apart from the bottom bar? I currently use the Power Tools widget I think it is, the gaint clock/weather and the calendar.
You can't turn sense off on the desire unlike the hero as far as I know. I've been wanting to goto android basic for a while don't think anyone has worked how to do it

Tried and failed.
Did a search of sorts, came across launcher pro, seems good, a slight slow down at times but I think I can work with this. Lack of leap though is a bit off ...
Launcher seems alright but I tad some at times and I miss some of the HTC widgets so off it goes . Back to Sense.
HTC please let me change that bloody useless bottom bar!!!!
Agreed, its not very attractive but this will most definately be changed with the 2.2 Froyo update

I am so looking forward to it!
Saves me money though as I don't need beautiful widgets or the widget similair to the power tweak widget.
Also it remembered the last state so no moving around once I reverted back :O.
i tried the ADWlauncher and Launcher Pro too for the same reason, the bottom bar i wanted with shortcuts. but i really can't compromise the speed and smoothness of the sense ui with those ones (even if ADW is the fastest 3rd party if you tweak the settings) but most important is the DATA-INTERNET widget which cannot be added in without sense.
i hope that with froyo HTC will enable both launchers and be a user choice which one to use but still have the HTC widgets.

htc sense clock or clocktile in wp7 !

hey,
if someone would like a clock tile like the htc sense or a big clock tile like the htc hub, too. pls vote !

No,sense not, it is ugly and it is eating the system memory to much. Sense belongs to android.
no complete sense only the clock as a tile
It is not possible the policy of microsoft does not allow it.The producer can not adjust the today screen.

I wish I could vote on that. I'm out of votes. But I have been curious why there isn't any live tile clocks. I've looked and looked and there aren't any that I see.
Lets hope MS implements this.

It's just not possible. At least not for third party developers. Live tiles refresh every half hour. Wouldn't make any sense for a clock, would it?
This isn't a request for a third party app based on the current version of the OS, it is a request to improve the OS so that such tiles could be developed.
Responding with "it's just not possible" could be applied to every request that has been submitted. Isn't that the whole point of the requests?

It wasn't in response to the request made by the OP. It was in response to MartyLK pondering about the fact that there currently is no clock live tile available.

I knew there had to be something like that going on. But I didn't know about the live tile limitation. Maybe MS may make the system where certain functions can have varying refresh rates. Like every minute for clocks. (without second hand)
Isn't it enough with the clock on the lock screen or in the HTC Hub in addition to the top task bar

The taskbar clock is too small and the HTC hub clock is inside the super slow loading hub, would make a quick glance not possible. A nice analog tile clock would be a small amount of visual enhancement and provide a quick time alert while doing others things on the phone. Actually it would be cool to be able to quickly bring up the tile clock at any time while inside other apps.
Are you all high?
There is a live tile clock. It isn't the best looking thing in the world but it works and it's free.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads-up.
EDIT - Eh...not really a viable live tile clock. It doesn't keep up with the time.
Good idea , but it isn't time for MS to unlock WP7 like MS 6.5, since it isn't completed yet.
I hope Sense will come like, manila.exe on WM 6.5.

The Analog Clock Live Tile referred here DOES NOT WORK. It does show the time but only just at the exact time you pin it to the start screen. As soon as this is done that time is frozen! The minute or second hands are not moving. I stared at it for about fifteen minutes and it stayed at 10:30 when it should have gone to 10:45. So it's really useless. I unpinned it because it does not give me the correct time. I hope the creators of this app do something about this.

From what I understand, live tiles update only every 30 minutes. That's why a live tile clock isn't viable. Any live tile clock will be limited to displaying the correct time only every 30 minutes.
The guys are right, don't get me wrong, I miss the clock but it would not work as the live tiles only update every 30 mins. or so like the guys said. I know that on the battery meter app you have to tap on it and then it updates to the correct percentage on the live tile, A clock would simply be like way off.
Well... what I'm doing to keep up the clock after unlock is running HTC Hub in the background (that's the only app left running in the background).
When HTC hub is running simply tap windows menu hotkey, then after u done what you should - tap back at the "start" and HTC hub will appear. After you lock and unlock HTC hub will remain open with the clock and weather...
Thats the simplest way for now to have that clock after waking up device

Well if you can get it to work that would be awesome, and you can count me in. So do you have a beta version that we can download?

What beta? Just do what he described. oO Start the app, back out of it by using the home button and then do whatever you want to do. Now before you send your device to sleep (hit the power button) just tap and hold your back button. Choose the HTC hub again and THEN lock your device. When you unlock it again, HTC hub will be displayed again.

[Discussion] how many of you use lockscreen widgets?

Hi, just want to know how many of you guys feel that lockscreen widgets are useful and use them. I have never used them till now. Let us know.
Personally, I use dash clock widget with a bunch of extensions. Most of the info I like is all on 1 widget. Missed calls, texts, Google voice mails, weather, battery, BBS, gmail and a few others. As far as other widgets go I also use Google sound search as well as the "my work clock" widget. I can punch in and out without unlocking the phone. Quick and easy:thumbup:
That's really all I use but it all comes in handy I think.
i only use the origin clock

I have one, and it's the camera. I find lock screen widgets annoying.
I never got the utility of the lockscreen in the first place. If your phone is not password/pin/whatever locked, why would you want to touch the screen 1-2 times more just to get to the main screen with all your usual apps/widgets or to the full menu?
And all the info you could put on your lockscreen, you can put on your main screen in a better, more personalized way.
I tried a few times to use a lockscreen (a total of a few weeks over the last 2.5 years), but I always deactivated it after a few days.
Just my 2 cents.
i only use them by accident and that suxx. me wants them gone for good

Dashclock is basically what the lock screen should be all about - an extendable piece of quick info.
I just use dashclock and poweramp. I tried to use calculator but when i was using it the screen turned off everytime. So i gave up.

I guess most of them thinks it's useless. Even I feel the same. I don't understand why Google introduced it.
Probably because they needed to ship some features with the N4 and didn't have much else to present. The whole 4.2 series looks like a cherry picked filler between the JB and next major release.

I use Dashclock, the stock camera widget, and a flashlight widget on a regular basis. The lock screen widget feature certainly isn't groundbreaking or anything and it does seem like a bit of an after thought (for example, Dashclock is what the stock clock widget should have been as others have mentioned). I do like the idea and see it as a quick intuitive way for getting to things quickly without having to unlock your phone first. Sure you had the shortcuts on the lockscreen before that would take you directly to the camera and what not but with the lock screen widgets the operation seems a little faster, more stream lined and fluid.
Really though, I don't see why you would want more than 3 lock screen widgets. There is the main home page one that you see whenever you wake up the phone, which most people have either the stock clock widget or Dashclock and is therefore mostly for informational purposes (do you have any new emails, text messages, time/date, battery percentage, etc). Then from there you can swipe to the left or the right to easily get to the other two widgets which are more functional in the sense that you can interact with them (camera, calculator, flashlight, etc.). If you have a 4th one you have to swipe a second time and at that point you have to wonder "why not just unlock the phone in the first place".
i just hate them i use pattern lock and while i try to unlock the screen moves arrfgghh thts soo fukn irritating :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I used to disable them with Lockscreen Policy, then I started using Dashclock.

[Q] Which weather app do you use?

I am currently back on the stock weather widget for my ion, but I have been trying out others. I really like the stock one, although I wish it would find you with GPS, and follow your location etc. It's just clean and simple..just looking to see what others ones may be good as well.
personally i dont use one, not even stock..its a waste of data and consumes ram plus if it's using GPS then it keeps waking up your phone which leads to battery drain..
I use the stock one on my XS.. I don't really care about the weather info displayed on the widget.. It's just for show on my homescreen coz it looks good there...

Dude you made me laugh with your shameless sincerity
I use the stock widget for normal current stuff...and the weather channel app for radar. I used to use accuweather's app, but they completely rearranged it and it gets an update every other day because of bugs...and its slow as shat now. The weather channel app is much better currently imo...
in either case though...i've never come across one weather widget that looks as good as the one included with Sony's skin. I never use the widgets included with any weather app, as they're not even close haha. Just wish the stock widget could follow you, rather than having to put up multiple widgets for different areas...
the stock seems to be the best one out there but i noticed that the readings it gives, are totally wrong. I mean the weather was like cloudy and it was showing sunny, the other day. So i've removed it. Also i agree with Jackmax32, idc about the weather, it is only good for the eyecandy (showing off)

[APP] HTC Flip

HTC Flip was a concept that came to mind as a user and dev when I started using the HTC ONE. A simple way of "Flipping" from one launcher to the next. In the end, the result was Flip.
Flip is my first app based on the HTC SDK so I expect some negative and positive feedback on this. HTC Flip has been out for about 3 months now and has seen over 10k downloads. Altho I'm going to guess 36 percent were force closes of users trying to launch the app on a non HTC device but thats why we read before we install. As of now, their are 2 variants of Flip.
HTC Flip (Home Management)
Flip is a simple application that will search your device for any other launcher and presents them to you and allows you as a user to manage and switch to them. Simply put, its a Sense Home management application. A user clicks on a launcher (like Blinkfeed) to launch for the time being, than presses home to "Flip" back to normal launcher. This app is meant for users of Sense 4.0+-5.0 Android 4.1.2-4.3. In the settings of the app, I've included a change log of progress and shortcuts for Blinkfeed. Flip was designed to allow a user to use their favorite launcher and switch to Blinkfeed when need be to enjoy a harmony setup. Flip also comes with a Home Assist Action provider allowing a user to swipe up from home to launch Flip instantly. Currently adding more features to make it more Sense "friendly" .
HTC Flip for Blinkfeed
Flip for Blinkfeed takes advantage of the already provided tools and software inside Sense 5 and 6. Once installed, Flip will create a launcher icon for Blinkfeed as well as create a home Assist Action provider to launch Blinkfeed with a swipe motion when enabled in the display and gesture settings in the android settings. An example would be me using the Google now launcher as my default and with a swipe, I can launch Blinkfeed to check out my news, and than press home when I'm done to return to Google Launcher. Flip for Blinkfeed has to offer these features
-Absolutely no cpu usage
-Absolutely no memory usage
-Absolutely no battery usage
-No Permissions
-Hardly any physical memory usage (code itself is about 40kb)
-Built to fit any setup or theme for a user having a launcher shortcut and Home Assist launch
-Easy!
It will also tell users who have installed on a non-htc device that the app isn't capadible rather than give them the big FC.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask or PM me. The original post and Google play links can be found in Op Link in Sprint section.
Developers may contact me regarding how to integrate Flip in Blinkfeed in a custom rom rather than using the apk. Permissions are needed to use Flip in a custom rom and Flip for Blinkfeed may not be used in roms.

I currently have no plans for an update for HTC Flip for Blinkfeed as of the time being, there's nothing to update as it works beautifully and just a 25kb package. It is how ever on a M8 Spring promotion sale untill the end of April.
HTC Flip (Home Management) will be receiving a Kitkat version for Sense 6.
