Problems with Giopro v1.6 - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

I have been experiencing problems with Giopro v 1.6 for a while, which is that when I want to enter the phone and use an app suddenly all the icons of the apps (not the systems apps such as Gmail, settings etc) are changed to a same type. At this moment I can't use any apps and have to restart the phone.
Any suggestions on how to avoid this, or even an update to Giopro??
thanks

How excactly it happends?! When opening 1 app in particuarly or with any app?!
Do you use a2sd or similar!?

I use Link2sd, and it works well, so far.
When it happens I can't open any apps, except the Settings (other system apps icons are showing but didn't try them), all the apps I have installed is not functioning after it happens.

I want to flash back the stock rom and I have already made a backup before I flashed in Giopro.
Can I use Odin to flash the rom without going in CWM mode? The reason is the phone has difficulty reading from the sd card.
The back up is as two folders, I previously made by CWM.

Try going into download mode, not recovery. Sd card isnt needed for that.
Use;
Power button, home button and volume down button at the same time when your phone is off, and then connect to pc and flash with odin

[Q] HTC Evo 4G

Ok so I'm new to androids completly. Was looking to root my new phone. Let me start off by saying I'm in Japan and have the HTC Evo 4G. I was attempting to use unrevoked but seem to be stuck at how to get to the hboot. I just updated to 2.3.4 and when I power off my phone then hit volume down and power button to gain access to hboot it simply turns the phone back on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Head over the the revolutionary.io site, you should be good to go. You have to use that method to root for gingerbread on the evo.
Check this thread for rooting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218386
And turn off fast boot in settings/applications and then try to boot into hboot I think thats where it is I'm not sure I haven't been on sense in a while I'm not even sure if a stock ROM has it but look there to boot into hboot.

done
disregard this post please
Take out the battery, put it back in, hold volume down + power key for 3-5 seconds to get into bootloader. Theres a youtube video, can't remember what its called, but it shows step by step on how to root through Revolutionary. Very easy. Took me like 5 min to root

Ok so I managed to get it rooted without bricking. Currently backing up the phone then will look into ROM's. Thanks for the posts

the recovery should be a PC36IMG.zip you flash that in hboot just make sure its on the root of your sdcard not in any folders then when you go to hboot it will find the update just except it.
The su apk should be a flashable zip just boot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache then go to flash zip and choose that zip and flash it then reboot.
If this is your first time in recovery before you do anything make a nandroid backup this will backup everything in case anything goes wrong you can restore the backup and your phone will be just the way it was when you made the backup.

Ok got it all figured out. To be honest you had me lost and I almost made another noob post but I got it now. Figured out the whole flash to SD card deal. I am 100% rooted now. Now for a ROM
I downloaded the synergy rom and it deleted my carrier email app. Do all roms do this?? I'll say it again here, I'm in japan so might be a little different from the states. Anybody know how I could get it back using this rom?? Or a good rom to use that won't delete this app.

What happens is when you flash a rom, its a whole new phone basically [os] so it comes packaged with its own apps, themes. What you can do is:
- go into recovery, backup your current rom
- restore your initial backup
- use / download es file explorer [free] from the market
- enable su permissions, then navigate to /system/app and copy it to your sd card
- go back to recovery, restore the synergy backup
- once booted, install the app from the sd card
or if it was backed up, open titanium backup, restore the app and data.
Thanks for the help teh roxxorz. I got the mail thing figured out. Worked with es file but didn't work to well with titanium backup. Took some trial and error to find all the files needed cuz the paste the whole folder didn't work. Having other issues finding the contacts and getting force closes, so I decided to just not use that rom. On to finding another good one that works.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
So I tried miui and that didn't work as well. Couldn't get the mail to work at all on that rom. Anybody happen to be in Japan and using this phone and could suggest a good rom to use that they have their au email and contacts moved over on, and have minimal issues?

[Q] BootManager Support

I want to use both ICS and Gingerbread.. I tried the BootManager app, but it says that the device is not supported and it shows me a screen for manual settings. If someone has used it then please tell the proper way to manually configure it.
PLEASE HELP
THANKS IN ADVANCE
I use boot manager, I had a lot of trouble getting it to work on cm7, it would not write the images to my SD at all, although unsupported they helped me get it setup as there is some coding in the app which would theoretically make it work for us, the only way i could get round the problem was by flashing a sense based Rom on which it worked first time, I now have sense on my phone but can easily switch to oxygen, cm7 or ics which are all installed on my SD card. The only bug I've found now is that after booting into an SD Rom to go back to my main phone Rom I need to reboot into recovery and select advanced restore to restore the boot.img.
Also what version are you using, I'm using the latest one paid for on the market and don't need to enter any settings manually.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
My question is if you have messages on one SD card rom. Are those messages still there when you boot into a different rom?
sent from Grey Skull
Yes its just as normal all the data that's written to the SD card is saved to the data image for that Rom.

[NEW][KERNEL][REPACK] FK23 with AGAT tREC_v0.2.2 recovery

For those of you who would like to run stock kernels with the builds
here is repacked FK23 kernel with my recovery and some init.rc edits.
SD card read speed.
Custom boot animation support
init.d support
Link:
AGAT_FK23_repack.tar Flash with ODIN or Mobile ODIN.
Did some edits in initramfs and run some tests.
Moved couple of apps to sd. After few reboots apps still working.
Moved apps to sd and flashed kernel separately. Apps were recognized on SD.
Tried to connect to pc in recovery.
ADB shell - works
Mount USB storage - not working. Will try to look into it more.
Hopefully it will work for all of you as well.
Don't have updater-binaries and updater-script for JB so can't make flashable zip yet.
If anyone has working JB flashable zip let me know and I'll try to make zip as well.
Installation instructions:
1. For best results copy tar file to root of your sd card
2. Use mobile ODIN to flash.
Phone will reboot.
It looks like any other method gives some problems with apps 2 sd.
Enjoy the kernel.
nice!

I have only 4 apps on sd and I moved them for testing purposes only.
gps status, root explorer, home switcher, titanium back up.
All 4 are working and I was able to move them back to device and then to SD again.
Apps mentioned above are paid apps. I don't want to buy them just to test if I can download.
Do you have any free app in the list that I can try.

I didn't have any problems with the free apps. Mobile Odin was one of the apps I lost access too. I did run a mD5 check before flashing.
I moved the file to my sd card and will try again in the morning. I'm pretty share I did some wrong on my end. If not, will try and capture a adb log for you.

Changing From Rom to Rom

Sorry nub Q,...
Best way to switch roms without losing all my apps every time... Running asop 4.2.1 and would like to check out a few others. But jus thinking about having to redownload all these apps and log in again makes me tired. Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.

Titanium Backup.
Been some problems with titanium back up when flashing new roms, see galaxy nexus development threads for some examples, if you want a relatively failsafe method that stores your apps off phone you can use a file manager like astro to back up all your apps into apks then drop the backups into a folder on your computer via usb, along with any media or data you want preserved, then reload after fully wiping phone and flashing new rom, you might have to download a file manager to install the apks if rom doesnt have one. Gather you have a custom recovery installed, dont forget to update it prior to flashing new rom so you can recover if all doesnt go to plan. Good luck

If you're interested in using your PC to back things up, you may as well give apk batch installer a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531880
If you are using the latest version of titanium backup, you have the option of creating flashable zips of all your apps with data included. Tried it a few times and it seems to work flawlessly for me. The key is to avoid restoring any system apps. I have about 70+ apps to restore and setup. Before it would take me an hour or two, now is done in about 10 minutes.

Titanium backup is useless unless you actually have the pro version. Pro version makes it all one click, set it and forget it. Definitely recommend it for any custom rom flasher.

ROOTing my phone, want to make sure a few things

Hello,
I'm thinking about rooting my phone (HTC One X 4.1.1, CID_102) and I want to make sure a few things:
1. I'm going to use this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904
Exactly as it says there.
Is it ok?
2. When a new update is released, how can I update my device with the root? I will keep using the stock rom, only with ROOT.
3. How can I backup all of my data? Including pics, SMS, whatsapp, app settings and information and etc.
4. Is there an option that when I start my device again after it was formated, it will download all of the previous apps? if not, then I need to make a list of all of my apps.. about 35 but still.
Thanks!
1. Great choice!
2. You need to flash stock recovery. And restore any system apps you've deleted.
Then update normally and you won't lose root.
3. Do a backup in ClockWorkMod recovery or whatever recovery you use. Transfer it to your PC afterwards for safe storage.
4. Download titanium backup and back up all your apps. Then transfer the backup to PC.

Thank you, I guess I will ask about it when there is a new update.
Can you help me with questions 3 and 4?
Well the steps are :
Unlock the bootloader
Flash a custom recovery
In that custom recovery is an option backup and restore, when you press backup it runs a complete nand backup of everything on the phone except the sdcard.
If you want to just backup parts like sms, whatsapp etc etc....then you can use titanium backup like TT said or another program called carbon. These apps allows you to backup just parts that you wantnto backup and restore after an update.
I always start with a clean install of all apps and stuff, it "feels" better to me. But that is a personal opinion

1. Freedom is an application that lets you (with root) to get stuff from applications that costs money (in-app purchase).
2. No, the CM10 has the latinme (if I'm ont mistaken) keyboard, that Android 4.2 has as stock, and it has swipe feature. In CM10 they put swipe in more langauges so I want to use it.
I think that if I'll install the GAPPS from CM10 then it will install this keyboard also. In order to do that, I just need to put the .ZIP file in my phone, and from the recovery install it like I installed SU?
Can I delete it later? and the gapps will update also from market (and not blocked like a pirated application)
Here's the keyboard, install like normal .apk. Pulled from android 4.2.1.

1 . So if i understand it right its some sort of illegal app that gets in app purchases for free ? If so .... its illegal on xda
2 . CM10 is more TT's department i never used those roms so i don't know much about them....sorry, hopefully TT is reading along with us and can shine a light on the keyboard thingy

oh he replied to me, I will update in short if the keyboard works for me as I want or not.
This is just a warning.
Any app that allows you to download a paid app for free is classed as warez on XDA and is not allowed. You can not upload any app on XDA that is a paid app. The warez policy also includes trying to get around in-app purchases.
ok, sorry.
TT, I installed what you sent me, but for some reason the keyboard doesn't appear on Language & keyboard menu.
EDIT:
Didn't notice, it was installed but it doesn't swipe in my language, but in CM10's keyboard (at least for the Galaxy Nexus) it is.
Is there a way to put their keyboard on my phone?
