There's this thing called "Windows Explorer" it magically lets you see what is on the storage devices and delete the duplicates by simply right clicking and "deleting".
Hope that helps

Are there any applications that can lock files, rather than programs? For example, if I want to block certain pictures from being accessed on my memory car.

I been looking for this too, let me see what googling does, brb.
Edit:
Best answer i've found is adding a folder to the root of your sdcard and name it .nomedia, or just putting a period '.' (ie .pics) in front of whatever folder the pictures you don't want to be seen are in.
(App) App Protector
I think there are some free version floating around on the apps store that due the same thing.
I use pandora (not the radio) it also password protect those pics and videos

How do I get my music player to not play my ringtones? I have them in a separate folder yet they still play. Do i just have to rely on playlists?

Try creating an empty text file named .nomedia place it in the folder with your ringtones.

Back when I used to own an HTC Titan, I had to put my ringtones inside of the Windows Folder to make them be recognized as ringtones, and that used to work well for me to prevent windows media player to read them.
Here in android, I'm thinking it might be similar, but I'n a noob in android and I don't know the OS structure very well, so I hope this makes sense to someone and can reply back to us.
Ok sorry about that didn't think it would block them from being seen as ringtones all together. As the post above states mabey putting them in the system ringtone folder might let them be ringtones but not be recognized by media player. To do this you will need to be rooted and then move them to /system/media/audio/ringtones. Just throwing stuff out there i'm still pretty noobish.

Yeah i will try that with root explorer.

Yup. Threw them into system/media/notifications
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Nope system wont recognize them in that folder

I am not too sure what the heck happened but now I have multiple entries for the songs in my stock music player and the really odd thing that all but one of the copies actually plays any ideas on how to repopulate the list?

Clear data in apps/media storage and reboot

Hey guys wasn't sure where to post this so thought I'd try here.
In wondering if it's possible to get the notification sound from the eBay app and use it for my system notification? Not the cash register sound but the normal one.
Any one help?

Since I started storing music in an external as the stock music app is not working correctly. When I open library in folder view the songs names are duplicates. Only one of the song names is actually music and during playback the player will stop every time it reaches a name without music.

Music Player>app info>force stop>clear data.
If that does not work, then...
Settings>storage>unmount ... >remount>reboot
There must be a better solution. I had this problem and when I put the card into my laptop, the laptop showed the duplicates as well!
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I tried the tips but ended up with the duplication increasing from 3 to 4. By the way my music app doesn't have the app info-force stop-clear data menu. I had to access it through applications menu.

Formet SD card and retransfer music. Or first try to unmount and mount sd card

There is an app called Duplicate Song Deleter. I used it and it worked like a charm!
Actually this kind of worked. I hope the problem isn't coming back. Settings, apps, all, media storage, clear data, reboot.

No it didn't work. After a second reboot all the duplicates were back. I will format sd and see what happens.
