I really love this rom. Everything is great. But I have one big problem : when
my SMS text messages are over 160 characters, sms is not send at all. No problem with shorter text.
Do you know how to fix it ? Thank you
There is at the Moment no Fix for that Problem. I hope he will when he have time to Fix it.
???
Why not use other 2.3.5 roms and make a backup using titanium and restore it on your fone? Hmmmm.... same problems here with Hensemod7...
Same problem here, at least I know it's the ROM problem I wasn't quite sure.
I've got no idea how to fix this, sms is limited to 160 characters.
There must be something wrong with the splitting on your carrier or in the rom (not using HenseMod).
Some suggestions:
- use another sms app from the market
- try a sense 2.1 sms apk from the wildchild rom
- look into the settings of the sms app
- ...
Well, I tried using the stock message app and Go SMS Pro app, I also checked if the number for SMS services is ok, and it is. I tried to uninstall Go SMS but I still wasn't able to send SMS longer than 160 characters. It is possible to split longer messages, but it's quite uncomfortable for the recipient.
Anyway I'll try to figure it out and let you know if I find something.

Hi Im a haver sms user and I love gosms. Cause here its possible to get an pop up for the incoming sms and directly answer it.
How is the stock sms app integrated in ICS? Is it possible to get an popup and answer the sms as fast as in gosms? I would appreciate If somebody could explain me the sms feature of his nexus galaxy. Cause I couldnt find any information on the web. maybe Im the last guy who texts. Thx
i am afraid the stock SMS app has not changed much from gingerbread. generally just some UI updates.
MIUI's SMS app is wonderful. It has the popups you are talking about. From what I've seen, it is not too different from past Android builds.
Looks like GoSMS is your answer. I've also seen WM7 Notification Add-On, that provides the popups, available for download in the market. I tested it and it worked but I didn't like it.
I'm sure we'll have a MIUI build eventually also (whoo whoo!)
Hm quietly disappointing. I want to have everything in a consistent look. Are you talking about an sms app from miu or a completerom?

Sms popup works flawlessly. Used it for years and is perfect. Uses the standard android layout so fits in with ICS easily. Try it out, I'm 100% sure you'll love it.
Everyone I've told it to can't live without it now

I also used sms pop up. Skipped it as I switched to gosms. But the fact that gosms (more functional) is based on the android gui makes it once again interesting.

Has anyone had any success with themes with gosms? The colors just go insane when i try any theme and i've tried manually adjusting every setting with little luck. The whole app just looks like crap.
Hi!
Is there a method for using stock SMS android ics app on official Samsung gs2 ics rom?
The system, whit 4.0.3 version, Is fast and fluid... but samsung SMS app is horrible!
I like phone app...Samsung personalization is beautiful... but not for SMS!

Samsung Messaging has a crappy theme but it's superior to the stock Messaging app.

Superior in what way?
Thanks a lot!
The standard samsung app is better than stock but graphically deviates too much from holo.
I immediately downloaded the application that you have shown me, but unfortunately doesn't work ... After having opened app it crashes.
In particular, he shows me the list of all messages (distinguishing read from unread) but when I try to go into a conversation stops everything.
I use GoLauncherEx on Samsung official 4.0.3 rom. When the application crashes, even golauncher crashes! For a few seconds the screen is all black (it show me only tray bar)!
I know that GoLauncherEx isn't optimized for ics but is the only launcher that lets me create folders in the program list (I have much application and I need it!).
Actually ICS isn't very stable on my device and I'm almost regretting gingerbread!
I can do anything about it?
Thanks again for your support,
I hope one day I'd help forum people.

That is very strange. Which firmware did you install? I installed XEO (polish version) and didn't get a single crash or problem what so ever. I had a few problems in rooting it, though (needed to wipe it first and re-flash the orginial ICS firmware before rooting to get the root rights recognized). But once that got fixed, everything was and still is perfect.
Or maybe it is because of the go launcher ex? I was using TW the entire afternoon (13.03) without crashes. At night I installed Apex launcher as system launcher and no crashes either (one day running), very low battery consumption and awesome looks. You can add the ICS Theme Pack from kovdev to get the ICS icons.
Hello element!
I've installed the XEO firmware, then polish, just like you.
I have not done the wipe but updated via OTA.
I had already installed GoLauncher. When I've upgraded I've selected Golauncher instead of Tw.
Currently I have encountered frequent application crashes and one total block of the system. The battery, to be honest, I can not tell if it lasts more than gingerbread why I used the phone a lot for various customizations.
I do not know if the problem is that I did not do a wipe.
If he continues to give me problems I do a backup. After I install the rom again.
Tonight I remove the battery and after power on. Tomorrow, we'll update on my test.
PS The biggest problem is GoSmsPro. it sends multiple messages at one time. If I send you a message, you will receive two. I do not know how to solve.
PS2 The root I did with Odin and had no problems ...
Thanks for the help,
Hello!
As I promised you I a write updates.
I solved the problem of low stability: I made a deepclean and then installed applications without syncing (I installed all the applications manually).
Now I have one problem, the phone crashes when I try to change the background. If you have any idea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23727272#post23727272
For the rest new rom does not seem bad ...
Thanks for your help,

Hey, check it out: One so called Tim Hutt put the stock calendar, messaging, and launcher app in the market and they all work just fine for me. The apps are called "Android 4 ICS Messaging SMS", "Android 4 ICS Calendar", and "Android 4 ICS Launcher".
The only bug I have (and it's not a big one) is that the screen doesn't light up when you receive a text message... Perhaps this is because I disabled/removed the official Samsung messaging services though... If you leave the default services enabled, then the screen lights up like normal but you have to select a setting in the ICS messaging app to disable the message receiver because then both the Samsung app and the ICS app will both write the text message to the database and you'll have duplicate incoming messages. Just go to settings and scroll to the very bottom to see what I mean... Enable that option if you don't remove the Samsung services/apps.

I was wondering if there was a replacement miui sms apk with mms working and messages longer than 160 characters being able to be sent. the build date doesn't matter, i'd just prefer the most recent.
Also, if there is no such thing and I choose to use google voice or go sms as a substitute, would the sms popup and preview on the lockscreen work?
Thanks.
Go SMS is the best choice and the pop up works fine.

Are you on GB or ICS, with gb I honestly can't remember if there was an APK that supported SMS split. I do know, however, that ICS does not have an SMS apk that supports sms split that I know of
If your using ICS then use GO sms. It works for SMS sending issues, receiving issues, and MMS retrieval issues

Thanks but I tried GOSMS and sad as it may be, I'd rather use a crippled miui SMS. Why must there always be a glaring flaw with everything?
There are modded stock ics mms.apks with split working split isn't required on GSM devices which is where most of the source for ports to other devices are coming from right now since a lot of cdma devices haven't gotten an ICS update yet.

Have been getting this since updating to Jelly Bean. Haven't had this problem before. I am trying to have a conversation with the old lady. Anyone have a work around?
Before switching to verizon I had T-Mobile and always had that with me my G1 .. since this is actually a gsm ROM maybe that's where it come from

Can I ask, do you mean that if you try and send 1 text it sends 3 or so, or am I misunderstanding?
BANE
No, he means that if you send a text message, get a response and send a new text message, and sends another one you will get that warning message. It is meant as a security feature if an malacious app is trying to send multiple SMS's you will find out.
Saw a similar thread some days ago, but I don't know if they found a workaround for it or not.
Dude I am getting this to and it annoys the hell out of me I have i9250 with tmo and with ICS it didn't do this and I increased the number of texts for it to save and still does this.... I get this message after every text I was in cm went back to stock for jb and now dealing with this and there is just something about being stock I like better but I cannot deal with this
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Well, it's nothing to do with the amount of messages to store. It's how many messages you send per minute (or something) that causes that message to appear.
Are you using 3rd party messaging app?
Swiftkey'ed on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
Nope stock messaging
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Any more info on this? Only happens when you heavy text in. Short period of time. But annoying none the less

i'm having the same issue on my gnex with 4.1 jb ...any work around it ?
Just started to get this today. Super annoying!
BUMP!
How can we disable this message for this app?
Bump.
Have the same "issue" (even if it is not one). When I send two or three messages to one person in a reduced amount of time, the warning message pops.
Not something truly important but it starts to bother me..is it a control integrated in Android itself or just the messaging apk ?

Dammit you beat me to it, this fix does work if you are using most AOSP based roms, for some reason it does not work on Stock JB but so far has worked on any other custom rom ive tried. simply install open up app and accept what its telling you and you are good to go.
Wow, so good, seems to be working on ParanoidAndroid 1.9.92 with the APK. Thanks !
There are ways to remove that notification
There are some custom ROMs that have removed that notification. If you still see it, there are apps on Google Play (like SMS Limit Unlock or SMS limit tool) that can remove that limit completely. Tried both and only the first one worked on my Android 4.2.2 device, so you're welcome to give them both a try.
(And you will need root, of course...)
Set SMS message limit
Try to look under Settings --> Security --> App Security -> SMS message limit
I have it there and have set it successfully to 200.
of course - it is in settings

Great, those settings under personal/security are so well hidden I had somehow managed to set that to "none".
after buying my gnex, my only problem with it was converting long sms messages to mms. by using another messaging app i've solved this problem for myself. however i would like to use stock messaging app.
is there any way to stop this app from doing that, without modding the app i mean?
That's not a problem; it's actually a feature.
On the stock Mms.apk in Jellybean, I can't see a way of disabling it. Although I did find a modified ICS Mms.apk that doesn't auto-convert the messages once it hits its threshold.
Awful feature, seeing as MMS cost money and SMS are included with your network tariff.
thx for fixin me for calling that a "problem". however as i see it, its not a helpful "feature".
what i meant with "did jb fix the problem" meant that, did they put a disable setting for this "feature".
i dont want to use all the "features" of my phone. i would like to choose which "feature" i want to use instead of being forced to use it.
edit: i ve just tried to send long messages to different phones and myself. seemslike stock messaging app doesn't convert sms messages to mms anymore.

I pushed this file to system/app using the root browser feature of ES file explorer. After reboot I have the original ICS mms app that works perfectly with long sms messages.

I just flashed my Galaxy S3 with Jellybean a couple of weeks ago and was disgusted to discover this "feature" of converting SMS to MMS. Thing is, I don't have an MMS.apk file on mine, only a SecMMS.apk. Is this the same thing? Would the modified MMS.apk file work for my phone? And would I need to rename it SecMMS.apk and overwrite the current one?
Thanks.
I must say I'm quite angry at the stupidity of this MMS conversion. Why on earth would I want my SMSs (which are free and unlimited) to be converted to MMSs (which cost £0.40 / $0.64 each) ???
