Dear Experts
I am running the Buttermilk ROM for my Xperia Pro and it seems there is a problem with the keyboard layout (hardware keys). I have an arabic layout keyboard and tried flashing the Keyboard layout files from the Ultima ROM by Riyal into this Buttermilk ROM via CWM but it puts the phone into an endless boot loop
Any ideas how to correct just the Keyboard layout, I really love the Buttermilk ROM and the only flaw I see is the keyboard layout not working properly. Even the Arabic layout files provided in the ROM link don't fix the issue but the Arabic ROM of Ultima makes the keyboard work perfectly fine!
Help Please! Thx!

hi..
is there any way to fix a reverse hebrew problem in samsung captivate glide odex rom? if not what rom would you recommend that can be fixed? (or do i need to wait for ICS?)
I switched to the INC3PTION ROM and the ran the RTL auto patcher from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907635
Worked great!
The theme appearance of INC3PTION is not for everyone though. It's worth it if you use Hebrew or Arabic because the patch is amazing.
will this rom do ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462298
Probably.
Quick update - I switched to the Osimood ROM and ran the RTL auto patcher. The patch worked well but the fonts that come with the ROM didn't show any difference between bold text and plain text in Hebrew.
So I copied the /system/etc/fonts files from the Inc3ption ROM and overwrote the files on my device. Bingo! Works perfectly now.
Hi,
There are not too many languages this phone supports by default.
There are apps like MultiLing that fix that, but it only supports HTC and SE hardware keyboards, so some of characters from my language become inaccessible.
Anyone knows any other app like MultiLing?
I used some other one but it's not compatible with ICS.
Also, it shouldn't be a big deal to add keyboarl layouts and languages on system level, Cyanogen mod has lots of them built in. Are there any docs available how to do that?
Thanks

Thanks, but it changes phone's locale, but I would just want to add another language to the list of languages.
I will try to look for something else...
if you only want to add keyboards, you can use anysoftkeybaord. its even has RTL support build in and keyboard mapping.
using this with keyboard manager - that helps you switch keyboards when the hardware keyboard is open - you are golden.
but the stock rom doesn't have many fonts supported so i encourage you to install a rom like osimood or incepation (if you are using GB)
or other roms for ICS (although i don't know what roms support more fonts, need to check inside the rom zip file it self.

Oh yeah! With anysoftkeybaord I've got all letters on my phisical keyboard.
It required to install some kind of a language plugin.
Thanks!

Hello all,
Cause my wife's gio is very slow, I want to try another rom. But there is only 1 problem... she doesn't like the qwerty-keyboard. She still use the "oldschool" keyboard with only numbers and T9.
There are some apps in the market with the same option, but because of all the extra options on the keyboards, the keys are smaller.
Is there someone who can help me with an apk for the stockrom?
I hope!
Thank you!
Settings - Language and Keyboard Settings - Samsung keypad - Potrait keypad types - select 3x4 keypad
And then enable xt9 and what not
Is this what you want ?
Also if you want a fast rom i`d recommend Adrenaline / Enhanced 2.3.6 / DebianDroid Lenny whichever suits you
These roms don`t change the stock keyboard but if you choose a rom that does , just flash this http://www.mediafire.com/?xx7snt4kmbd8ro1 and you`re good to go
Tnx for your answer. The problem is that in gingerxd there is no 4x3 keyboard. That is the rom i use on my own gio. Its a smooth rom with good looks and extras.
The zipfile, is that the original keyboard or what does it contain?
Just flash with cwm?
Yes it is the original keyboard , mount /system , flash , reboot
Edit : forgot to give credit to muzaffarhassan64 , the original link to the stock keyboard is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064928
Thanx for your help but it doesn't work
I mounted system, flashed the zip (not placed in root but that isn't a problem i think) rebooted but there is no extra keyboard in "languages and keyboard"
Did i do something wrong?
I don`t think so ... it works for me . Then again .. i`m not an expert , maybe someone who knows better can help you. Sorry mate
Oke, no problem, thanks for your help.
In adrenaline there is the original samsung keyboard? Then i think i'll try that rom, cause i also have a problem with batterydrain i can't solve...
Yes those roms are based on stock with added features / speed , they are very nice depends on what you need , i think Adrenaline is the snappiest , Enhances 2.3.6 has some more features and i use DebianDroid because it`s about the same as those 2 but has integrated holo launcher so ics-like theme, integrated root explorer and working s2e. Also i can change the dpi to 120 without changing the phone.apk so i like it the best.
Oke, thanks for your feedback, I'm going to read about debiandroid and when it looks good i'll flash it today.
Is this the right topic?

Yes it is

Hi everyone!
I'm using cwm and ILWT . I want to try a theme (which is akp) and a keyboard flashable zip but I want to be able to go back to the default cm7 keyboard . How can I do that?
Also will the keyboard work for other languages as well , or it has to be done from the editor to support other languages ?
The theme and keyboard are here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974541&page=8
(although the links are down I found them elsewhere ; )
Thanks a lot

It doesn't work on non Kindle devices, since it checks the build.prop.
From 4.5.2:

TouchPal X is pretty awesome
If you're wanting to include a keyboard in one of your roms,, I highly recommend TouchPal. The only issue I have with it is part of the keyboard is hidden under the navbar. If anyone could help me make it so that keyboards don't do thus that would be awesome. I'm on rooted 3.2.8 with safesttap (the one for 3.2.4 flashed just fine on 3.2.8.).
