Question to developers

I am new. I don't know how to make rom. But I wanna use Jellybean android 4.1.
Unfortunately no one has tried to port it for galaxy w. My friend using galaxy nexus got the stock jellybean by himself. And it's awesome.
So I wanna ask if anyone is trying to. Or will try to port Jellybean for SGW? Just asking. No offence

As much as I want Jelly Bean for my SGW I kinda want to have ICS a little bit more perfect first before jumping ahead plus couldn't 4.1 be based on arco68's CM9 build?
I do wish I have the skills to make 4.1 for SGW though.

Well I did try doing some coding when I was studying IT but I gave up very quickly, I guess i'm not too good with all the really technical stuff. The best I did so far was merging 2 themes together by flashing them in different orders.
Jelly Bean source code just released few days ago, it will take some time to port it to galaxy W, since JB is consider an upgrade version from ICS so I believe there is very possible to port JB to galaxy W as well, but it just need to take some time.
if really so desperate to use JB, the fastest way is to get a galaxy nexus:laugh:
lol, no offence

Developers,
Pls help me.
I got my SGW from Saudi Arabia and staying in India, now
Qust 1. How and where can I get official Gingerbread update for my SGW I8150 for India?
Qust 2. which custom Rom I can use for ICS and from where I can get it?
Note: SGW I8150 is not released officially in India yet (Does it make any sense?) and My current version is gingerbread.

1) check if you are on 2.3.6 value pack or not. If yes. I think that's all. Samsung will not give any further update for SGW.
And btw. I don't understand what you mean. You mean you bought it from another country and use it in another? Then I think you will get India's. But provably no more.
Custom ROM doesn't require your country's release date to work. It works on every SGW basically.
If you want a stable ics rom. I think Arco's cm9 suits you well. You can simply get it on xda. To be honest.

Don't forget to flash clockworkmod recovery for flashing rom. If you use stock recovery you will probably brick it.

1. It's in the stage of porting. (WIP) Nikez Lente said that.
2. No, because HTC is too lazy to get this thing working on this older hardware device :crying:
I got it!
So,desire still has the chance to use jelly bean android4.1 .
Just no official update,right?

Yeah. And yeah. The point is it's hard to synchronize gpu with cpu to get 60 fps graphics. So basically it can work asab( as smooth as butter ) but a battery hog, or it can be real laggy but save battery.

[Q] How can I install ICS on my Galaxy Ace 2?

Straight to the point; there are millions of guides on how to install ICS and Jelly Bean on the Galaxy Ace first version but not for the Galaxy Ace 2. I must be doing something wrong, because I can't even find one guide...
Heck, I don't even need a guide, just the image/ROM/whatever itself and to know it works. maclaw.pl/?page_id=180 seems to only be for the Galaxy Ace not the Ace 2. Am I overlooking something?
Please point me in the right direction!
Oh, yes and I don't care if it's ICS or Jelly Bean. Whichever works; just don't want a non-functional camera.
There is no 4.0 ICS for ace 2
JB 4.1 will come in January.

Sent from my GT-I8160 using xda premium
I know there is no official way to upgrade to ICS and Jelly Bean is coming 'soon' but surely there is a way to install Cyanogenmod 9 or 10 on the ace 2. It's sad that mclaw is only developing for the older ace rather than our ace.

I barely just afforded my Ace 2, being a 15 year old off my job with a hosting provider. Only to find there is no ICS. Kinda annoying..
But surely, surely there could be some ROM which could work, like one from another Samsung phone etc. I was going to buy a HTC Explorer but chose the Ace 2 because of the bigger screen, even the Explorer has ICS ROMS and stuff..
Someone out there must have ICS on their Ace 2.
I doubt Samsung will ever release Jelly Bean for the Ace 2, I guess we shall see, January is up in a few hours.

1stly, No there is nobody out there with ICS on their Ace 2 and there won't be for a simple reason. Becuase Jelly bean exists.
And what makes me say that? Since there are rumors about jb coming on our phone, and since it is newer than ICS I doubt anyone will bother developing cm9/ICS, the devs are only looking forward for cm10/JB.
P.S: After all, since building JB has the same success rate as ICS I see no reason in developing ICS, it is inferior.

Well, as it seems he bricked his Ace 2, so he has to post with another phone
@jayesh: If you tried to flash the ICS for the Galaxy ACE (5830) on the Ace 2 its propably tricked. Try to get into download mode and reflash stock rom with odin. If that doesnt work you can still try the USB jig.
Imho that are your only 2 options.

I would say never, but who knows.
Maybe you didn´t notice but Arco is stopping developing ROMs for this device and I´m not sure there will be someone continuing his work. Beside this this device is already pretty mature with not that strong CPU and not that much ram newer Anroid operating systems will require to work smooth and stable.
Tomorrow.

Yeah, without sir arco it will be nearly impossible, i agree with that. We'd need a developer that would continue his job.
IMHO it does not really matter on how outdated the harware is. Software can always be optimized on any hardware, but has to have one devoted developer. Space Shuttle computers hardware in the past were not as heavy as nowadays, but still did their job because of software developed for that specific hardware. I think that's why it is possible to have Jelly Bean on devices like the Galaxy Mini. I've seen one working. Seemed to work flawlessy.
So hope never dies....
