hi guys!
im a happy owner of an Arc, it makes an interesting issue. first time i cant get it back from sleep, dont responded for power button, or any other. i put the battery off, than on and it started correctly. i thinked maybe something was wrong but nothing more. after i had the same about 3 times in that day. i thinked it just some battery calibration issue, but yday i cant wake up the phone again. i noticed the green indicator is blinking, cos a have same unread messages from fb. the first time the phone has unrooted 4.0.2.A.0.62, than i tried the .42 aganst root, but i also cant wake it up. now i use the Arconium with .062. its rooted and the bl is opened.
OTHER: it has a dead pixel, i can see it only at black and blue screens, so i think thats gonna be a blue one. this phone is bought about 6 monts, so it has warranty, but its acceptable for dead pixels?? thanks
Kinda same problem here.
Usually i'm an iOS fan and used to work with that. With android i'm a bit new.
I got this Xperia Arc LT15i.the problem is that it doesn't power ON,in fact nothing happens no matter what.
I tried the "take the battery out,put it back in" etc.but nothing.
First time when i tried to connect it to the pc it gave me the "usb not recognized" error but then i tried with a new usb cable and could detect the phone.
I installed "PC companion" and "update service" (latest versions)and update service did saw my phone.I tried a "software update>recommended" option but nothing.
Then i tried the "clean install and software update" still nothing.
Then i read some posts and went for Flash tool (from the official website)
Tried to flash it to "4.0.A.2.368" Generic Trade European all went well,it skipped the "simlock" step and got the "flash finished, phone will reboot, etc" but the phone didn't reboot and then got the "phone in flash mode" message after all that.
Took the cable out, tried to power on but nothing, took the battery out and back in,again same thing: nothing!
The green light seems to be ON only when i try to power the phone.it seems the phone vibrates a bit and then silence...
I don't know much because i got this as a present, the things i know for sure are:
Xperia Arc was running android 2.3.4 and was working ok,then someone tried to update the software via wi-fi and after update was finished it remained like this no matter what you try.
It has never been opened,of refurbished,etc...phone is almost brand new!
Any advice, would do just fine.Thank you for you time!
LOL! @cxr_2 for hijacking the thread.
BTW, was your bootloader unlocked? And did you try too update OTA (Over The Air)? Because that would brick your phone. There's a solution for that in the forums.
And are you sure that your battery isn't drained?

Well, xtacy! in the "xda video intro" it said to find a simillar thread and post there (here) instead to make a new one,cuz it would be the same thing twice, etc.
If by "unlocked bootloader" you mean if the phone was unlocked i think YES,it was.
Yes,from what i know the update was done from the phone, via wi-fi or web from the network operator. It does look like it's a brick one.
As for the battery,i thought about that too and recharged with universal charger and checked it with a voltmeter and all seems fine.
I've read now the homebrewed fix by Jerpelea and will try it later on to see if that helps.

Yes, my bootloader is unlocked. the guy who sold me, said he is absolutely beginner for android, but it was already unlocked. i noticed it, when i tried to open the already opened bootloader i didnt tried to update, but from the beginning i cant use the flashmode i down after updated the .042 and .062 over fastboot. so anyway, i cant make a clean flash. so now i just want to make a clean flash, have u some idea how can i enter to flashmode?

that was 134Mhz, but yday i tried at 249. still turns off i get it to warranty, but my bootloader is opened. as i remember correctly the general warranty is still alive, Sony just takes me the repair cost due the unlocked bootloader causing firmware problems etc: some deeper malfuncions. or just the operator dops the warranty? mint is "factory unlocked". what u think?

and how can i relock, without flash mode?
im absolutely unable to get on it. i also tried on Ubuntu 12.04 flashtool, pcc and seus cant recognize the phone. when i connect the cable(and hold the back button) the doomkernel logo comes in than it starts to charge battery
OTHER: one cwm backup contains just the "system.sin". just because i can flash via fastboot the boot.img(kernel) and system.sin for example the 4.0.4, but the *.ftf files has many others(adsp, amss) i also need these to use the ICS correctly. or that gonna be a solution to restore a backuped 4.0.4 via cwm than flash the kernel and system via fastboot. what u think?

I was trying to root my xperia arc.
i started flashtool, everything went alright. then error -aborted.
now phone can't start anymore, I can't do anything with it.
plz help me
You have to tell a little more to get the right help.
Bootloader locker or unlocked?
What firmware did you use when rooting the device?
What did you use to root, Gingerbreak?
i'm sorry
bootloader locked, never touched that
i never touched anything. I'm on 2.3.3, so I was trying to get back to rootable version.
its when i was trying to flash it to previous version that flashtool aborted. saying : power on go to settings and turn on ressources and debugging.
but i can't do anything with. It doesn't even start up.
thx
no prob, can imagine you're upset
did you try to flash it again?
How was your battery when starting in the first place?
Did you try to start up with power cable plugged in?
wow i just tried sony ericsson update service, and now the phone seems to start up.
the mistake i did i think is that i forgot to reinstall the sd card before starting to flash it.
as i'm writing this the phone is correctly working. so now was the sd card remove the mistake ?
1st option
I would say unlock the bootloader and reflash with the newest firmware, or you could just try this
2nd option
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126358
I had the same problem (but my boot loader was unlocked) and it sorted it out, I thought it was just flashtool but it isnt theres special files in the firmware folder that unbrick the arc, let us know how you get on. try the 2nd option first
If its working now then it was a semi brick, option 2 fixes them no problem, try reflashing if you get the same problem just use the 2nd option afterwards and it will work fine
@grat_master
dunno bout the sd card, but glad SEUS did the trick for you.
@yusuo
can you unlock your bootloader when the device won't even start?
anyways, things worked out, no need to do more i think
ok so now the phone is working correctly.
but i tried it a second time to flash with flashtool, and it did the same thing. flash aborted, power on go to settings and turn on ressources and debugging.
what am i doing wrong ? i'm following namaste guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650
but it just doesn't work.
yes you can, you put it in fast boot mode (turn phone off, then hold back button and plug usb in while still holding back button)
If is still doesnt turn on after use the brick fix (option 2)
Seemingly others have had problems too..
Common reasons:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162492&page=2
And try running flashtool as administrator and make sure you have the lt15.sin in loaders directory..
Unlocking bootloader is good if you want to install a custom ROM.. But u void your warranty and loose DRM (If you care bout those that is..)
LT15.sin is already in loader directory
and I'm also running it as admin, I also disabled user control.
Which firmware are you trying to flash, the UK or HK version? Maybe it's a corrupt file?

i live in canada, and i'm using a rogers branded phone, samething as in the video of namaste guide.
i am trying to flash north america generic and world generic, neither worked.
Have you tried removing the battery after flashing, and then putting it back and then boot up?

it can't flash !
i am not able to flash anything, it stops before end and the phone remains in flash mode even if I deconnect usb cable. I can connect it back to pc without pressing back button and the green light is on again. that's after the flashing crash.
now the phone is ok, I can go internet, receive give calls, but I still have my sms problem that I have since beginning. I'm sending it back again to sony for repairs. HAHA I received it from repairs yesterday, and I got exactly same problem as before. I hope they change it. I think my phone is broken /end of story. Broken from beginning.
Anyway, I'm heading back to my Rogers detailer now to see what they can do again.
Thx for help. I'll try to root again when I get it back.
Okay, good luck, hope you get a replacement!
my service provider Rogers Canada is sending me a new Xperia Arc, should receive it in 3-4 days. As soon as I receive it, I'm gonna try root.
I'll let you know if it's working or not.
ok so i received my new xperia arc. now my sms problems are solved ! hourra
but i still can't flash it to root. It just don't want to do it.
what am I doing wrong ? I'll try a new ftf file. Can it be related to a bad sd card ?
What is is:
Docomo Xperia Arc LT15i, flashed ICS LT18i firmware a while ago, which has worked fine.
I currently use a GNex as my primary phone, and decided to convert my Xperia Arc into a portable music player, just running ubermusic with a microSD card.
What happened:
Yesterday when I connected it to wifi there was a system update notification. I thought, sure, let's see what it does. Perhaps that was stupid, not sure. It downloaded the update, rebooted and started to update. Got about a quarter of the way and then went blank. That was the last I saw anything on the screen.
What is does now:
I tried to power it on but nothing happened. It won't even boot. When I hold the power button down, the led light blinks green (about one blink per second, very brief blinks). I plugged it into USB, and flashtools recognized it in flash mode (without holding down the back button when plugging it in...). I then tried to flash the newest generic global (4.1.B.0.431), which flashtools showed as completed and successfully flashed. But it also said "please wait a moment, the phone will reboot", which it never did. Flashtools showed it as still connected in flash mode. I unplugged it and tried again, same as before. Won't even boot. I tried a couple more times flashing the same and previous firmwares (4.0.2.A.0.42), but still nothing.
It seems totally bricked, and I think I killed it. All I can get is flashmode.
Any suggestions or ideas? Or am I just stupid for trying to see what the update would do? I figured there's always some way to fix the system, since the hardware is fine.
I invited myself to the same problem but in a different way, result is same bro
please help us folks
Did you unlock the bootloader?
Is ur Bootloader Locked or Unlocked ??
I think you could be suffering from the 0% battery Issue (just a guess).
Try reflashing LT15 firmware with Flashtools & when it says flashing finished device rebooting ,then unplug the device & turn it on.

Bootloader is unlocked. So yes, trying to accept the OTA system update with an unlocked bootloader was stupid.
I've tried flashing several times, and of course I try turning it on at that point, but nothing. I'll look into the 0% battery issue, haven't read about that.
Here is the thread, sorry I didn't find it in my previous searches. This solution worked for me. We can close this thread.
You can attempt using s1tool and test point to relock the BL then use sues to fix.

Just to say that this is my first post on the ENTIRE FORUMS . Hopefully I'll get to meet some of the devs on here as well as the normal community users .
Previously, I had a Xperia Neo port of ICS on my Xperia Play- it worked perfectly fine but was pretty laggy, so I decided to downgrade to the original Gingerbread OS.
The downgrade (via Flashtool) worked perfectly and the problems only started after an OTA (Over The Air) update arrived. I clicked 'Update', it went through the normal shutdown and install stages but never booted back up. After this, I could only get into flashmode and not fastboot mode so I could not simply reflash the boot.img to make it boot again. I went back into Flashtool and reflashed the firmware that I used to downgrade with, and it didn't work and the phone stayed off.
I did some research on this and apparently the OTA update stops the phone from booting if it's rooted, it linked to a patch (.ftf firmware) that said it will solve the problem but will relock the bootloader (and unroot it, replacing the DRM files so it will boot). After this, the phone does not vibrate when the power button is pressed, it just flashes the LED red three times. I've tried flashing different firmwares and now the flashmode cuts out (usually in the middle of flashing system.sin- don't know if this might be the result of a corrupted partition) AND to top that I can only get it to flashmode if I keep the battery out for a little while between flashes, it never goes to flashmode by unplugging the USB and plugging it back in again.
What I want to ask is, because the bootloader is locked again, Sony can't detect that it's been rooted once before, right? Also, because of the suspected corrupted partition, Sony can't access any logs and should just replace the phone under warranty (it's a year old next month), right?
Sorry for the n00bz questions, I just don't want to send it to Sony (It's already been booked in for a repair) and they reply that the warranty isn't valid because they somehow found out that it's been rooted once before- it costs £10 for them to send it back:victory:!
UPDATE:
If I leave the phone plugged in, it sometimes tries to boot (Sony Ericsson logo comes onto the screen) but a phone and an exclamation mark comes on the screen. After five seconds or so, the phone reboots.

Yeah... could be. It was on something like 20% when I flashed it back to Gingerbread yesterday and it wasn't on charge during the update so it might have lost charge which in turn failed the update.
Will report back when I've charged it up a bit (half an hour should get it to around 30%).

It now stays on the flashmode which is a good sign- thanks for the battery tip !
However, it's still not booting and it's not going to the screen with the phone and exclamation mark since I tried to flash with the R800x firmware. I'm giving myself until around 11:00AM tomorrow otherwise I'm putting the normal default firmware on it and sending it in for repair.
Reflash a ftf file or update using seus if you got a locked bootloader (I suppose you don't have already), that works for me when I got exclamation mark too.
try re-lock youre bootloader alreasy?
i attach the ftf file, after that repair youre phone using pc companion.
i hope it helps you boot again
EDIT:
Please refer to this tutorial where i got it
[Tutorial] Relock bootloader!
Thanks all for helping- it seemed to be a battery issue here where I think something made the battery drain really quickly.
I didn't make anything better when the battery cut out when it was flashing half way- I think this might of been the reason for the phone with the exclamation mark.
I let it charge for a bit and was really surprised when I saw 'Sony Ericsson' on the screen and even more so when the boot animation came up!
It's now been reflashed with Doomkernel and GTA finally works great on it at 1.4GHZ .
Thanks to you all for your suggestions- really appreciated .
So my phone was running perfectly until i decided to sell it, unfortunately the sales man wouldn't accept my Xperia arc because i had AOKP, i opened recovery mode, choose restore, and i selected an old back up to restore, i thought it would bring my phone to stock.
But then whenever i turned my phone on it would crash with the AOKP start animation half blank, like the bottom half of the screen is completely black.
I googled "my xperia phone is bricked" and i heard that i can flash stock ftf to restore the phone, unfortunately flashtool gets stuck at around 8-13% percent every time.
I tried MANY different versions, many stock roms, turned off my anti virus, changed the cable, booted into safe mode with networking, it still lags. :crying::crying::crying:
Now whenever i boot it up it shows a phone with a warning sign next to it
I looked these forums up and someone suggested that i relock my bootloader and try the Sony update tool, i tried it but it says phone is already up to date
Now my phone is dead, battery ran out and it doesn't show the battery animation when i charge it, does that mean it's not charging?
Please help me, i just want to flash a stock rom and unroot it so i can sell it.

YES, it's working again, thank you very much!!!
I "repaired" with PC companion and it wouldn't start, it still lags at the Sony logo, but after repairing it with the pc companion i was able to flash stock ftf without any problem, it's very weird flashtool always lagged before, i think it's because i repaired it now, or maybe because i charged my phone over the entire night? can a low battery cause flashtool to lag?
Anyway that doesn't matter now, thanks again.
My phone is working again after flashing generic world stock ROM, now only thing remains, how do i unroot and relock the bootloader? or is it unrooted already since i flashed a stock ROM? :\
I just want to sell the phone but unfortunately rooted phones don't sell here, every salesman i met rejected me, i want to unroot the phone and relock the bootloader, i just want to make it look like a brand new phone, it's in an excellent condition hardware wise.
I heard factory reset would brick my phone so I will wait until the phone is done booting up and i will download root check and see, i will also check if the bootloader is locked or not from the service menu, after that i will update this post. :good:
EDIT 1: Okay this is very awkward, my phone's battery is completely empty, i have no idea why it's at 0% even though i charged it over the entire night???
Anyway once it's done charging i will check the root and bootloader condition.
Sorry for my bad English.
If you flashed stock firmware, then root is already gone.
And if PC Companion installed firmware to your phone, then bootloader is locked, otherwise PC Companion would have not worked.
If you are still sure, that bootloader is unlocked, check the tutorial in my signature, it includes information how to relock bootloader.

The problem is... I have a Xperia ZL that is 1 yo... actually, it's 1 year and 1 month old... (yep, here in Brazil Sony delayed to release thei products, now it's a little bit faster, we already have Z3 in stores )...
The phone was rooted with towelroot and working just fine... suddenly it didn't recognize my SIM Card no more... then it just started to act strangely... the band signal was blank and there was a red X on it... then the phone stopped responding at all and started a infinite loop of restarts... just bought a new blank SIM and transfered my number to it... NOTHING HAPPENED.... I started search into the net, the forum... some attempts and nothing... so I use the Sony PC Companion to repair my phone... nothing new... then I use flashtool and the newest firmware "C6503 10.5.1.A.0.292" for it.. the phone started to work again...
I was using it for 2 days and suddenly (again) the same symptoms happened... no signal at all... then ... no phone at all... it starts... the a black screen with the "back" button and the "no signal", battery and time... when I try to pull down the bar it's RUSSIAN! (and I got the brazilian firmware)... then the phone restart... SONY..XPERIA... same things... nothing new...
I've tried to repair with PC Companion... flashed and REFLASHED with the firmware... and NOTHING... I thought it could be the SIM... but it's working on other phones....
Guys, DUNNO what to do... but I'm desperate!!!

My suggestion,
Steps
1) If your bootloader is unlocked, relock your bootloader
2) Now goto flashmode, use flashtool to install your firmware which previously worked fine for you.
From your previous post, i could understand that after a fresh firmware update it was working fine for 2 days before the same problem started to appear.
3) Once the OS loads and home screen appears, goto playstore and download catlog and let it monitor until the problem occurs again.
We will see from your log.....
I suspect this could be a software issue. Try using any older firmware....

What are the ftf files that you tried flashing using flashtools.give me the full version nos
You mean to say, after flashing your ftf file via flashtool this time it is going to bootloop
and it's not working for 2 days like it did before.
As previously said try download and flashing any old firmware(preferably jellybean) ftf files which has got good reviews that it worked.See if goes into bootloop without booting into homescreen
Don't worry if you have not done anything to unlock bootloader it will still be locked. Don't mess up with bootloader if you are not sure about what you are doing.
If it is unlocked it will ask to relock when you use BLU button in flashtool

What's the "full version nos" I mean, where can I see that?
I'll try to grab an old version to see if it works... didn't try that.. only with newer versions...
I said that the when the problem appeared for the 1st time I flashed the phone and it worked for 2 days... then started looping again... but now I can't make it work anymore.. doing flash doens't change the loopings... I'll try an old version..
"bout the bootloader, I didn't change anything... I mean, not that I know... LOL... HOW we do that? (so I can confirm I didn't do anything)... This "BLU button" I think I tried that once... how to know if it's locked or unlocked now? LOL
THANKS for your help!!

K once you install a older ftf firmware file, reply me back with the results.(Preferably any jellybean version Example-10.4.1.b.0.101(Be sure to download your country variant)). If you are able to goto flashmode, i am sure that you can revive your phone. What i meant by full version no is nothing but 10.5.A.0.230 or 10.5.1.A.0.283 etc. I guess your ftf file is not proper thats why you are going into a bootloop. Like i said download any old firmware file and flash it.
If you had already unlocked your bootloader using BLU button in flashtool, now when you click BLU button it will give you and option to 'relock' instead of 'unlock'. If it shows 'relock' it means your bootloader is unlocked.
See my replies in the below thread to understand more about what could cause bootloop problems....

Hello there! I' ve tried the BLU option... it's LOCKED... since it shows me the options to "UNLOCK" the phone... so I really didn't messed it up...
So, I try to get an older firmware... I got one "generic" and one from my crarrier brand... "Claro"
So I tried this "generic" one....
Selected Bundle for Xperia ZQ (C6503). FW release : 4.3 - 1270-5681 - 10.4.B.0.569 R2C. Customization : Brazil Generic
Operation Successfully finished... but when trying to start phone.. an error message appeared that an proccess has stop responding.. if I tell it to wait.. black screen and nothing happens... then REBOOT... whithout selecting and option.. same thing.. reboot...
So I decided to flash with my carrier version.. "Claro"...
Selected Bundle for Xperia ZQ (C6503). FW release : 4.3 - 10.4.B.0.569 R2C - 1270-0684. Customization : Claro Brazil
Operation Successfully finished... but when trying to start phone.. an error message appeared that system has stop responding.. .. black screen and nothing happens... then REBOOT... I could see the mais screen for one second then.. REBOOTED again... and bootloop again...
Now.. it starts.. I can see the main windows with the screen locked, I slide to unlock it... same thing.. black screen, I can see the battery and "no signal" icons.. and BANG! Reboot...
Don't know what to do my friend... I'm really scared now... is there any other option?
Help me please?
---
Nothing new... but I even tried to get firmware directly from Flashtool... downloaded the latest database version from my carrier...
Selected Bundle for Sony Xperia ZL (C6503). FW release : 10.5.1.A.0.283. Customization : Claro_BR
And nothing .... bootloop again... do you think is there a way to save this phone?

Sorry to hear that frnd. Seems something is really messed up in your phone.
I guess since you tried flashing different firmwares it might be a hardware problem causing this issue. But to be sure about which part (SIM related issue, could even be issue related to TA partition ) caused the reboot issue, i need to see the logs which will be easy for you to collect if your device boots properly, which is not possible for your case .
There is another way to collect it but you should have already enabled 'USB Debugging mode' in your mobile the last time it worked. Anyway try and select if it works. Check below link to see how to access logs. Even if we get logs if it is hardware related issue you still need to get it to sony service center.
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/logcat.html
It is upto you. I could still further down on this issue but it is upto you. I suggest you, take your mobile to service center if they cannot do anything/if they say you should use it as a costly paperweight, get it here we will go on with advanced tracking methods/we will even try unlocking your bootloader and try flashing custom rom to see if it works. . But beware, i am NOT responsible for any further damage if it happens to your mobile...
If you further want to take the risk Private message me i will give you my skype id.
