Just create a file or folder named .nomedia in ur ringtones and alarm folder... it wud be a hidden file so don't search for it in the folder...
then clear media cache... reboot... and sme time of waiting for media scan to finish might do ur job...

You have to use a ".nomedia" file:
if you put this file on a folder with only ringtones or other annoying sounds, you won't see them
Thanks guys, that solved my problem.

Hey, is there any way of preventing pics/videos in a certain folder showing up in the gallery?

Just put a .nomedia file in the folder where you have the pics and videos you want to hide.
You might already have this file in your sdcard (some ebook reader or other app that has pics not show in the gallery).
If not, just create an empty text file and rename it.

Doesnt work for me... Stil shows the folder.
It definitely works. Either your media files didn't update yet or you don't have a correct nomedia file...

Can confirm. This does work. Try restarting phone.
Tried it with a .nomedia file already but it didn't work. Gonna see if it needs to update though.
Rename the folder to .folder, the whole folder becomes in invisible.
Your other option is to install estrongs security thingy, which allows you lock down apps totally

I found the best way is to create a zip file and store them in that as it cannot see through a zip file. Has always worked for me, hope that helps

Can someone just rename this thread to 'how hide porn and pics of the bird your cheating with'
By the way. The ext partition is a good place to put 'sensitive' material. Gallery wont look there and it wont show up when plugged into a windows PC.
Is it possible to keep certain picture files from showing up in my gallery?
My problem is my gallery is flooded with pics from all my UCCW files , very cluttered it is !
Thanks for the help .
Yeah just name them something else the gallery won't be able to show like .txt. or you could mount USB to PC and select and delete any pics you don't want there.

If you create a file named .nomedia and place it in a folder, any pictures in that folder will not be shown in the gallery. There are probably a few .nomedia files in folders on your phone already that you could copy/paste as well.
Either that or use QuickPic

I use quickpic app as my main gallery because it lets me pick which folders to include and also allows hidden folders for the pics u want to access but don't want ur friends/family seeing

Put said file in directory you don't want scanned.
I really don't know how I can make it more clear.

Create a FILE not a FOLDER. Put the FILE in the FOLDER you dont want scanned.... OR just use quickpic as your gallery since this seems to be too advanced for you. Quickpic is free in the playstore

Hi everyone!
I have a little trouble with my navigation system sounds on Xperia Arc S.
I'm using iGO Primo and this app is using sounds in *.mp3 format, so these sounds are automatically added to the Walkman application.
The question is : Can i somehow make the folder with these sound hidden for Walkman? Or any other solutions for this issue?
Thanks everyone!

create .nosound file in a folder with these mp3 files then clean data for walkman and media scanner and reboot. You don't have to clean data but it will take a while for these files to disappear from walkman app.
.nomedia file is a file that tells android media scanner to not scan this directory and its a plain text file named ".nomedia" without an txt extension. If you cant create this file then you can copy it from "android" folder in you sdcard.

Did everything as u've adviced (coppied the file from android folder and put in every sound directory) ; unfortunately didn't work (
If walkman is using media scanner then there is no way this cant work. Maybe you have to wait for these files to be deleted from app.

Well, today i have changed ROM and now it works ) hopefully, that will work forever
Thanks very much !!
Actually the file was .nomedia that's why it didn't work
Flash other Walkman!
You should flash other Walkman now.
Maybe I'm missing something but I can't seem to choose my own custom ringtone - only one from the list in audio profiles.
I just tried the Ringdroid app and it broke my settings. Now when I try and change the tone, settings crashes. Looks like I'll have to factory reset
If u want your custome ringtones then you have to make a folder in internal sdcard .. Which sholud be named "media" inside it create another folder naming "audio" n inside it "ringtones" .
Name exactly as it has been quoted .. The ringtone you want u can save it in ringtone folder ...
Reboot and you are done ..
